Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Review!

The Glyph Interface: A Neat Feature with Great Customization Options

One of the standout features of the Nothing Phone 2A Plus is its glyph interface, which allows for a quick glance at how your food is doing while cooking. The timer starts to count down at the top of the screen, giving you an idea of how your dishes are progressing in real-time. This feature is particularly useful when cooking, as it allows you to monitor your progress without having to constantly check on your food. The glyph interface works seamlessly with the software, and its simplicity belies its usefulness.

The Lock Screen Shortcuts: Fully Customizable Options

Another great feature of the Nothing Phone 2A Plus is its lock screen shortcuts. You can fully customize these options to suit your preferences, using a wide range of settings that are available. This level of customization is impressive, and it's clear that nothing has put a lot of thought into making this feature user-friendly. Additionally, you can design different lock screen widgets to personalize your home screen even further. This attention to detail is just one example of the level of care and attention that nothing has put into its software.

The Wallpaper Options: AI-Generated Designs

One of the standout features of the Nothing Phone 2A Plus is its wallpaper options, which include AI-generated designs. You can select from a variety of pre-made wallpapers, or choose to let the AI generate a new design for you. I opted for the latter, and was pleased with the result - the device produced a beautiful, unique wallpaper that looked great on my screen. This feature is a nice touch, and it's clear that nothing has put a lot of thought into making this option user-friendly.

The Customization Options: A Plethora of Choices

One of the things that really impressed me about the Nothing Phone 2A Plus was its level of customization options. From lock screen shortcuts to wallpaper designs, there are a wide range of choices available to suit different tastes and preferences. This is not just limited to software features - the device also allows for a high degree of hardware customization, with 26 individually addressable zones for lights that can be used to create complex lighting effects. This level of flexibility is impressive, and it's clear that nothing has put a lot of thought into making this feature user-friendly.

The Camera App: Solid Performance

The camera app on the Nothing Phone 2A Plus is solid, if not particularly groundbreaking. The device features two 50-megapixel cameras, which are capable of taking high-quality photos in good lighting conditions. While they may not be dramatically different from those found on other nothing devices, they're more than sufficient for everyday use. Additionally, the camera app is flexible and easy to use, with a range of options available for adjusting settings and taking different types of shots.

The Front-Facing Camera: Improved Sharpening

One area where the front-facing camera stands out is in its improved sharpening capabilities. The new 50-megapixel front-facing camera is capable of taking sharper portraits than ever before, which is particularly useful when it comes to capturing selfies. While this may not be a revolutionary feature, it's an important one that makes a tangible difference in the quality of your photos.

The AI-Generated Wallpapers: A Nice Touch

Speaking of wallpapers, I wanted to take a moment to talk about the AI-generated designs offered by the Nothing Phone 2A Plus. You can select from a range of pre-made wallpapers, or let the device generate a new design for you. In my case, I opted to let the AI generate a new wallpaper, and was pleased with the result - the device produced a beautiful, unique design that looked great on my screen.

The Nothing Phone 2A Plus: A Device Worth Considering

So is the Nothing Phone 2A Plus worth the upgrade from the more affordable Nothing Phone 2? It's definitely worth considering, especially if you're due for an upgrade and want something with a bit more to offer. While it may not be a revolutionary device, it offers a lot of value in terms of customization options, camera performance, and overall software experience.

A Note on the Future: What's Next for Nothing?

As I'm writing this review, nothing is already working on its next flagship device - the Nothing Phone 3. It's expected to be powered by a new Snapdragon chipset, which will likely bring significant improvements in terms of performance and power efficiency. While it's too early to say exactly what features will be included, it's clear that nothing has big plans for its future devices. In fact, the company has been working hard to build up its revenue production skills, and is investing heavily in research and development.

The Future of Nothing: A Promising Outlook

So what can we expect from nothing in the future? Based on my experience with the Nothing Phone 2A Plus, I'm optimistic about the company's prospects. They seem to be putting a lot of thought into building devices that are not only great performers, but also offer a range of innovative features and customization options. If they can continue this trend, it's likely that nothing will become a major player in the smartphone market. For now, however, I'm just excited to see what the future holds for this exciting new company.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enall right so nothing released another 2A series device the nothing phone 2A plus which I've been using as my primary Android device the last few days the unboxing experience is similar to previous nothing phone devices aside from of course the nothing phone 2A plus you'll get a nice message from nothing the nothing cable and you'll get a nothing SIM tray ejector tool as well as some documentation and here we have it the nothing phone 2A plus and right out of the box I have to say nothing's done it again their engineering team has absolutely crushed this with the materials and Design it looks phenomenal I absolutely love the design of this in terms of specs you do have the mediate Tech dimensity 7350 Pro 5G 12 GB of RAM 256 GB of storage ip54 rating for dust and water resistance a lot of great top high-end specs little bit of a bump from the previous 2A I had but very similar in terms of design build um but I definitely like I think this design a little bit more just the metal and everything here it just looks really solid and using this device out in the wild it turns a lot heads another nice thing to note about the build here is that it is 100% recycled Tim aluminum copper foil recycled steel and over 50% of the plastic parts are sustainably sourced nothing also notes that the plastic waste from their ear 2 production line is actually repurposed into the phone 2A plus which is really awesome to hear now I ordered this through nothing's us beta program and I have to say usually their shipping is pretty quick but this took over a week and a half and it sold out almost immediately so it's very difficult to get your hands on this device as of right now it's still showing sold out on their website uh through the US beta program so just a heads up this one may not be as easy to get other nothing devices also sold out and you have to sign up and I've yet to really see them bring them back into stock for the US beta program so again this one might not be very easy to get at this point going forward maybe check resale maybe sign up to see if nothing uh replenishes the stock hopefully they do but for now I just wanted to note it's it's definitely not an easy phone to get right now here in the US now I'm super appreciative of nothing continuing to include the really cool Sim ejector tool right in the Box because as soon as I unbox this I realized my current device was on uh eim and I needed a physical Sim in order to use this phone because again eim not supported here on this device unfortunately so I had to run to my local T-Mobile to get a SIM card compatible with this device now I don't believe that it works on AT&T or Verizon at least not to my knowledge given the bands that are supported here there is dual SIM but again no eim support So in terms of connectivity if you're here in the US I would recommend a carrier like T-Mobile um maybe Google F anything that's going to be using similar bands to T-Mobile's network is probably your best bet if you're looking to use a nothing 2A nothing 2A plus cmf phone those are probably all best used on T-Mobile here in the US the flexible 6.7 in AMOLED display made with gorilla glass 5 by the way has a super smooth 120 HZ refresh rate with 1300 Peak nits brightness the display in all lighting conditions even Outdoors is pretty solid given the price point of this overall device I've been pretty happy consuming media on the nothing phone 2A plus it it looks stunning it's immersive I think the sound quality from the speakers is great as well no complaints in terms of the display that's available here on this device compared to the regular 2A the 2A plus has a larger 5,000 mAh battery and there's a lot of settings to further optimize battery in nothing OS uh which is really great to see so in terms of battery I'm seeing at least a full day if not a day and a half just depending on my overall usage so battery I have to say is pretty impressive now there's no wireless charging which is a little bit frustrating I would like to see wireless charging here but given the price points fine wired charging definitely works in terms of the wired charging I have to say I'm pretty impressed with that there's 50 wat fast wired charging and the charge time from 0 to 100 is about 56 minutes 50% charge and is about less than 25 minutes which is just really great in terms of charging and of course you get nothing's really cool USBC cable included right in the Box similar to all of the previous nothing phones the nothing phone 2A plus is buttery smooth in terms of performance thanks to the software optimizations that nothing has put into nothing OS and then coupled with the great Hardware you're going to get a phenomenal fast fluid experience on the phone 2A plus similar to other nothing devices I even love nothing's apps I usually don't like manufacturers making other apps but nothing has done a phenomenal job job in terms of design similar to the hardware the software is equally designed flawlessly I also like their Community widget so I can catch up on the latest stories there's even a new AI news widget which is really cool take a listen I'm Tim the CFO and I'm thrilled to be here every day even though it feels like I'm reading about well nothing guess that's just the nothingness of it all again really cool really like the widgets here on nothing phones one of the top reasons I like using their phones is the software they've just done a great job here I also have a few other useful apps and widgets Etc that I use here there is uh scrolling around here like for example the glyph timer going back to glyphs I love the glyph timer especially for cooking I just quickly flip to glyph and then the timer starts to count down as you can see here at the top and so while I'm cooking at a quick glance I kind of have an idea of how some of my food is doing that while I'm cooking and it's just a really cool neat feature to use with the glyph and the software it works really well the timer is something simple but again something simple designed well it works well I I give nothing Kudos and props here for their software not only that you can fully customize uh to your liking using a lot of the different settings they have for your lock screen shortcuts you can also design different lock screen widgets to put on your lock screen and then you also get options to customize wallpaper you can even select you know regardless of nothing as wallpaper you can even can select like AI wallpaper so it gives you a few different suggestions you can pick it yourself but I usually just say surprise me and then it designs a new cool wallpaper utilizing AI on device and as you can see it looks pretty cool so personally I'm actually using one of the uh AI designed wallpapers on my current setup it's really fun to play around with and customize your device and it's something that's kind of out of the way so that way there's not a ton of bloat and it doesn't feel like you're interfacing with a lot of bloat but you just have great custom imization options here with nothing OS and just again the plethora of widgets that they have everything that nothing has thrown at this device in terms of software has been great and it doesn't slow the device down which is what I've been most impressed with because typically you find a lot of those apps Etc cause a lot of bloat on devices and it's just really cool that nothing still continues to keep it sleek and clean so that way a lot of that bloats out of the way now in terms of updates they always have the best change logs and you will get 3 years of software updates and 4 years of security updates on the phone 2A plus and of course like many nothing phones you have the glyph interface as I mentioned a little bit earlier in terms of software but I really like using the glyph interface on the 2A plus here similar to the regular 2A you do have uh 26 individually addressable zones for lights and of course you have glyph composer take a listen it's pretty cool and then of course on the back of this device near those glyphs you have the cameras the 50 megapixel cameras which are pretty solid but they're not I would say widely different from the regular 2A so not a ton to cover here on the cameras now the front-facing camera has improved a bit with the new 50 megapixel front facing so you'll get sharper portrait photos with the selfie camera and of course in terms of camera software the nothing camera app is pretty solid I haven't had any issues with that across any of the nothing devices and I like the flexibility and simplicity here of their camera application you can easily switch between modes and you have a slew of different features that you can use uh in terms of Photography or videography it's pretty solid overall but I would say it's not vastly different from other nothing devices the cameras are pretty great for this price point uh you get a lot of different filter options again many options here to play around with and I think from my usage the photos are still pretty spot-on I mean I haven't had any issues as long as you're in good lighting conditions which was kind of a similar story on the regular 2A and that's really no different here on the 2A Plus in my opinion from my usage of these cameras so once again let's quickly review the specs here the nothing phone 2A plus offers quite a lot of value but is it really worth the upgrade from the morea affordable 2A which hasn't been on the market very long perhaps not if you're still using a phone one and you're considering an upgrade this might be the one to get don't get me wrong I personally love all the devices in the 2A series that nothing seems to keep refreshing however I'm really looking forward to a more premium nothing phone 3 hopefully powered by a new Snapdragon chipset it seems nothing has fully capitalized on the 2A series having launched the 2A the 2A special edition this 2A plus and soon the 2A Community Edition I'm pretty sure consumers are ready for something new but you can't fault nothing for focusing on building up their revenue production skills and investing in a future that looks increasingly bright I'm excited to see what else nothing brings to the market in the meantime I'd love to hear your thoughts on the nothing phone 2A plus as always thank you for watching take care and stay safeall right so nothing released another 2A series device the nothing phone 2A plus which I've been using as my primary
