plus ultimate speed test grab some popcorn and enjoy now before starting the actual test I want to do a few changes so first off on the Galaxy S8 I've set a resolution to full HD Plus that way it will be more similar to the uh 1080p display that we have on the iPhone 7 plus next up I've enabled another sturb mode on both devices I've turned on airplane mode Wi-Fi is on and bluetooth is off orientation lock is on on both devices and I've also removed the SIM from both the iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy S8 and also from the S8 the micro SD card as well so all apps everything will be run from the internal storage and I have exactly the same apps installed on both so let's begin the ultimate speed test so let's start off with the specs first on the I iPhone 7 plus we have 3 GB of RAM and on the S8 plus we have 4 GB of RAM now when it comes to the CPU on the iPhone we have the Apple A1 chip which has a dual core high performance 2.34 GHz chip inside and also a dual core low performance about a 1.7 gz processor inside and the apple1 is based on a 60 NM process now on the S8 plus we have the Aus 895 yes this is the Aus or the international model this one comes with a quad core high performance 2.3 gz processor and also a qu core low performance 1.7 gz processor and the xus 895 is based on a 10 nanometer processor so quite a big difference basically two generations ahead of the 60 nmet that's inside the iPhone 7 plus yeah so judging from the specs alone the Samsung Galaxy S8 plus should theoretically smoke the iPhone let's see if that's actually true starting off with Section number two the Apple launch speed test okay so Apple laun speed test exactly the same apps on both and I'm going to start a timer and see which phone loads up all these apps the first okay so the timer has started on both devices and BBC News is the first app which the Samsung Galaxy S8 loads first then we're on to CNN again Samsung Galaxy S8 actually loads it first then onto the camera app and here I'm trying to take five photos which is pretty difficult because there's no light uh behind the camera since they're both sitting on a desk so it's pretty difficult to take five photos but a Samsung Galaxy S8 is actually ahead and onto crossy road and it it actually seems that the iPhone seems to load crossy Road uh first so yeah there we go and I'm going to tap uh five times on the screen now let's go to Super Mario run so I fast forwarded a bit and the iPhone has actually loaded Super Mario run uh the first so yeah the iPhone is ahead so let's go and launch the next app which is Temple Run 2 and Temple Run 2 has almost finished loading on the iPhone 7 and what I'm going to do next is press the play button and quit the app as soon as it starts so quit now let's move on to angry Birds 2 the Samsung Galaxy S8 is only loading temper Run 2 just now so let me just close that as well moving on to Angry Birds 2 it seems that the iPhone did load the game first so I'm just waiting for this red bird to appear and close the game and the Samsung Galaxy S8 is indeed catching up so uh yeah it's really close to the iPhone moving on to the next game we have Hitman Go one of my favorite games actually I definitely give it a go and try it out next up we have lcraft go and the iPhone 7 plus is still ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S8 but the S8 is indeed not far behind so I'm going to go into the first chapter of the game and load up the first level the iPhone has almost loaded the game and the Samsung galaxy8 is not far behind and yeah there you go the iPhone has now loaded the game and the Samsung Galaxy S8 is almost there but now let's move on to the next game which is Minecraft so uh I'm actually going to load the same map on both devices the iPhone has already loaded Minecraft and it's already in Dead Trigger too this is one of the most demanding games out there and as you can see it's buty smooth the Trigger 2 has loaded on the iPhone 7 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 is just loading the game now now moving on to Asphalt 8 this is a really demanding game as well uh but you just have to go through like 20 menus to start a game which is a bit annoying but yeah the game is loaded as well and now the iPhone is onto Real Racing 3 the Samsung Galaxy S8 is just opening asphal 8 right now moving on to the next app we have Grand Theft Auto San Andrea so this is a pretty demanding game this is one of the most demanding games you can get so start a new game on the iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy S8 is still at Asphalt 8 so it has a ton of catching up to do now the iPhone has already loaded GTA San Andreas and it's now moving on to the next game which is Hearthstone the iPhone is still ahead and now let's move on to some productivity apps so I'm going to open up Microsoft Word the iPhone as you can see is quite ahead in this test and now let's move on to Microsoft Excel I've chosen Excel word and PowerPoint just because you can find these on pretty much any device so PowerPoint is the next one and this actually takes quite a long time to open on the iPhone keep in mind that this video is at twice the speed now moving on to Photoshop Express I'm going to add this filter autum at Max I'm going to save the image and finally I'm going to export this video same video on both devices in 1080P the iPhone has almost finished a test the Samsung Galaxy S8 is at PowerPoint now and it's opening uh Photoshop Express and the iPhone has finished the test in 6 minutes and well almost 2 seconds and the Samsung Galaxy S8 is still going and the Samsung Galaxy S8 for some reason took ages to export this video again both in 1080P and the Samsung Galaxy S8 has finished in 8 minutes and 20 seconds so there you go if you do the math the iPhone is 27.6% faster than the Samsung Galaxy S8 next up I want to do a RAM management test and see which device actually keeps more apps open in the background so let's move on to the first app that I have open which is BBC News and surprisingly BBC News actually had to reload on both the iPhone 7 and the Samsung Galaxy S now when it comes to the clock app this one was was still loaded on both because it was pretty much the last app that I have opened and surprisingly Grand Theft Auto San Andreas was still open and running fully on the iPhone 7 plus whereas on the Samsung Galaxy S8 it actually had to reload the app again so let me just try BBC News again that's fully loaded CNN this one is actually loaded perfectly on the S8 so both the S8 and the iPhone 7 plus get a point when it comes to the camera app uh it pretty much had to reload on both even though on the iPhone you could still see the controls moving on to crassy Road both devices have to reload it from scratch which is a bit surprising considering how lightweight this app is then moving on to Super Mario run this also has to be reloaded from scratch on both than Telo run to again so I don't know I was expecting the iPhone 7 plus to perform much much better in the r management test so let's try a few more apps Angry Birds 2 same result also has to be reloaded from the background so yeah let's just try a few more and see if any of these devices actually have that app open in the background so Hitman Go nope then lcraft go nope let's try in Minecraft and Minecraft actually loaded first on the iPhone 7 plus as you can see even though it wasn't loaded in the background so let's try that trigger too again not loaded in any of these devices so yeah I'm quite disappointed especially in the iPhone at the moment GTA s address again it's still loaded in the background from the first time we've opened it so let's try the productivity apps so word this actually still open in the background on the iPhone Excel still open on the iPhone really surprised and then PowerPoint still open on the iPhone so it seems that the iPhone managed to keep pretty much all of the most recently open apps opening the background and same goes for Photoshop Express this one is fully functional as you can see on the iPhone fully loaded in the background so five points for the iPhone so far so let's try Adobe clip and yeah this one is also loaded on the iPhone it has to reload on the S8 even though the loading time isn't that bad so uh there you go when it comes to RAM management the iPhone managed to keep six apps open in the background with only 3 GB of RAM whereas the Samsung Galaxy S8 only managed to keep one app over the iPhone with 4 GB of RAM so again you can see how good iOS uh RAM management is when compared to something like Samsung's touch with yeah big spe does take quite a lot of resources and speaking of resources let's see how fluid these phones are with all of these apps open in the background so the Samsung Galaxy S8 it's it's so laggy especially especially when it comes to launching the Bixby page just take a look at this it actually it actually crashed so yeah really really really laggy performance on the S8 with all of these apps open in the background now when it comes to the iPhone 7 the iPhone is so smooth it feels like there's actually no apps open in the background so I haven't noticed any lag or anything any slow down whatsoever and also when it comes to app performance I want to mention a few more differences so in that trigger 2 for example as you can see the iPhone is running the game at least the intro at a steady almost 60 frames per second the Samsung Galaxy S8 is I would say not even 30 it's it's definitely chopping pretty pretty badly if you take a look at the game itself there's actually a few differences in the game so there's a puddle and front on the iPhone and that puddle is missing on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and if you take a look at the car the car does appear to be different on iOS and a bit different than Android so it's a bit more sharper on the iPhone than on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and if you take look at the smoke there's more smoke coming on the iPhone and not as much smoke and the fire is a tiny bit smaller on the Samsung Galaxy S8 as well so quite a few differences now moving on to Templar Run 2 just take a look at the delay from when I actually swipe up on the screen so the iPhone is pretty much instant the Samsung Galaxy sa8 does have a tiny bit of a Slowdown nothing too major but it's definitely something that you do notice uh when playing the game and then Real Racing 3 is also pretty different on both so if you take a look at the resolution of of the game and if you take a look at specifically the edges the anti-alias sync it's so much sharper on the iPhone and on the Samsung Galaxy S8 you can see quite a lot of rough edges and then if you take a look at the stitching there's a stitching on the door on the iPhone and that stitching is missing on the Samsung Galaxy sa again if you take a look at the mirror the resolution of the image display in the mirror is higher on the iPhone so yeah as you can see there's quite a lot of differences between apps now moving on to Hearthstone this is a pretty demanding game for both IOS and Android and on the iPhone uh the scrolling uh through the collection is pretty smooth however as you can see there's a bit of a delay from when I tap the arrow key to uh the actual scroll so let's go ahead and start a game with my taunt Warrior here and the game is pretty smooth actually it's running at I don't think it's actually 60 frames per second but it's definitely over 45 I would say judging by just the I haven't noticed any lag or any stutter or anything whatsoever not even when the game starts as you can see it's pretty fluid on iPhone so on the Samsung Galaxy S8 it's so much slower just take a look at how long I actually had to sped up this video uh because it takes so long to open my collection and the delay is just crazy from when I tap the arrow to when it actually Scrolls my collection so yeah let's start a game and see how fluid the game actually is because scrolling The Collection wasn't that fluid so let me just choose the same deck and you can definitely see quite a lot of dropped frames I'm not exactly sure what the frame rate is I would say it's about 25 Maybe maybe maybe 30 uh but it's definitely not constant just take a look at the lag right now drop the frame drop was just crazy and yeah when playing a car this was like 5 frames per second but there's few app advantages on the S8 as well so just take a look at how much cleaner uh Microsoft Office looks on the S8 versus the iPhone now moving on to the actual benchmarks I'm going to do a CPU Benchmark with gek bench 4 so let me just close all the apps running in background and yeah this is a really old bug the orientation multitasking bug I'm not sure why Apple hasn't fixed this already I think this was in iOS 9 as well yeah so iOS isn't perfect either okay so running geek bench 4 on both and the iPhone has finished a test in uh 2 minutes and 36 seconds and got a pretty impressive score 3,523 points for the single cor score and 5,969 for the M for the multicore one the Samsung Galaxy S8 has finished in 4 minutes and 8 seconds so almost double uh the iPhone 7 plus but just take a look at the difference in in in the scores so the single core score there's a massive difference between these two 1,995 on the S8 and I have to scroll down let me just take a look the iPhone 6s from 2015 had a higher single core score than the Samsung Galaxy S8 from 2017 so that's something that you should keep in mind now let's move on to some systemwide benchmarks I'm going to run into Benchmark uh this basically tests out everything from the ram to the CPU to the GPU and as you can see I've already done this test before and the iPhone was a tiny bit faster than the S8 so let me just run this again just in case and the iPhone has finished in 4 minutes and 27 seconds Samsung Galaxy S8 is still going and the Samsung Galaxy S8 has finished in 5 minutes and 25 seconds 27 seconds but if you take a look at the scores the iPhone actually scored lower than in my first test and in the second test the main difference was the GPU besides the graphics all scores were higher on the iPhone 7 plus speaking of Graphics let's move on to the next test which is the GPU benchmarks so I want to do a couple of GPU benchmarks and see which phone has a much better GPU so starting off with 3D Mark slingshot this is their most demanding test and as you can see for some reason on the Samsung Galaxy S8 most textures aren't actually loaded so pretty much everything is black now this is most likely because the app hasn't been updated uh for xus 895 support maybe not even Snapdragon 835 but yeah this is the exus model by the way just take a look at how much more fluid this rain is on the Samsung Galaxy S8 versus on the iPhone 7 but still the Samsung Galaxy S8 finished first in 3 minutes and 59s seconds and the iPhone finished second for the first time in 4 minutes and 26 seconds and when it comes to the actual scores there's a pretty big difference here so on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the graphics test one we have 29.9 frames per second whereas on the iPhone we have 16.12 so a pretty big difference there Graphics has to 12 on the S8 and eight on the iPhone and even when it comes to the physics test there's a pretty big difference here as well so 34 on the S8 and the physics t one and 27 then 27 on the S8 and 10 and then 14 and four so yeah the sa definitely smashed the iPhone and this test so let's just do a couple of more GPU benchmarks so I'm going to run a gfx bench when head in test so this is run this is an offscreen test in 1080P so it's run in 1080P offscreen devices so this isn't affected by the displays by each device's display resolution the iPhone finished first in 1 minute and 6 seconds and yes 8 wasn't that far behind finishing in 1 minute and 14 seconds and they actually got some really similar scores I'm actually surprise so 6228 frames per second on the iPhone and 63 on the S8 very very close and I wanted to do a geekbench compute Benchmark as well so this tests out the GPU performance 12295 on the iPhone 7 and 8,75 on the S8 so here the difference is pretty huge between those two phones and overall I would say that when it comes to the GPU performance those devices are pretty similar since in some apps the iPhone one and in others the Samsung Galaxy S8 one next up I want to do a test that I haven't actually done before and that's a thermal test so I have a thermal camera attached to my iPad Mini 4 and as you can see the uh the iPhone 7 is running at about 34° C and the Samsung Galaxy S8 is running at about 31 and yeah it seems that on the iPhone the temperature is now going down to 32° so yeah overall the S8 did run a tiny bit cooler than the iPhone but not that big of a difference just 1 to 2° next up section number nine I want to do a couple of JavaScript benchmarks and test out the JavaScript performance of each device's browser so this is affected by the CPU performance and also by how well that browser is optimized for that CPU so I'm going to do this test first in both devices native browser so Safari on the iPhone and Samsung the Samsung browser on the S8 doesn't really have a specific name so 193 milliseconds on the iPhone and W 296 on the S8 they pretty big difference so let's just run this in Chrome and see uh if we get any better results on S8 the iPhone finished a test in 187 milliseconds so actually a tiny bit better than uh than Safari and the Samsung Galaxy S8 finished in 54 which is shockingly bad so let me just run octane uh this is a JavaScript Benchmark made by Google I'm going to run this in each device's best performing browser so Safari on the iPhone and the Samsung browser on the S8 the iPhone has finished first getting a score of 27,44 points and the S8 got 13596 so jvas performance is ALS Al much much better on the iPhone 7 and next up I want to test out the internal storage speed of each device this is something that I haven't done before and uh I've actually done a couple of tests on the iPhone and this is the highest I could get so 3155 megabytes per second right speed and 867 as the read speed which is just crazy this is this is even faster than a sata 3 based SSD please when it comes to the read speeds now on the Samsung Galaxy S8 using the exact same app we got some very different results 133 megabytes per second read speeds and 95 when it comes to the right speeds so I decided to do this test in a different app on the se8 as well so this is A1 ASD bench and here we have 529 megabytes per second read and 181 right speed so this is much more believable and uh much more similar to what we have on the iPhone let me just do this test again on the iPhone a couple of more times so 187 megabytes per second right and 581 662 yeah these scores are much more similar to what we got on the Samsung Galaxy S8 but then again with a different app A1 SD bench but yeah if you average up all of those tests the iPhone does have a faster internal storage moving on to the Wi-Fi speed test I'm going to run this separately on both devices and the Samsung Galaxy S8 got 9423 as a download speed and 75.7 4 megabits per second as an upload speed and the iPhone got 9367 megabits uh download and 80.98 so pretty similar on both this results are basically in the margin of error and finally when it comes to the fingerprint sensor this is pretty different on both because on the Samsung Galaxy S8 it's on the back to the right and on the iPhone 7 it's on the front on the home button when it comes to the unlocking speed they're both really really fast the animation is quicker on the S8 but then again you do have to take your time and find that fingerprint radar on the back which I actually found to be pretty difficult to find I haven't really gotten that used to it in almost a month of having this phone but then on the S8 you also have the option to unlock it via your iris so if you wish you have this option so you don't really have to use the Frank Pin Reader on the back but if you compare the iris scanner on S8 to the Fring print reader on the iPhone 7 because both of these so to say are on the front then the iPhone 7 spring print reader is faster but yeah there you go this was the ultimate speed test between the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the iPhone 7 plus let me know in the comments what speed test what ultimate speed test do you want me to do next and overall these are really really fast phones I mean the iPhone was a bit more fluid and faster than 8 so when it comes to uh when it comes to first party apps if you care a lot about video editing or photo editing then the iPhone is a much better option if you use apps such as iMovie for example uh then you can export 4K videos and edit 4K videos on a phone which is just crazy and it even exports faster than the 1080p video on Samsung Galaxy S8 using a third party exporter so yeah if you care a lot about productivity apps then the iPhone is a much better option however on the Android side the Samsung Galaxy S8 is still still pretty fast unfortunately most universal games that you have on IOS and Android run a tiny bit better on iOS since you don't have that many iPhones that you have to optimize those devices those apps for on Android you have hundreds of thousands of devices and the developers they don't really take time to optimize a game or an app for a specific device maybe in a future patch we'll see Asphalt 8 or uh Real Racing 3 updated to work perfectly with the Samsung Galaxy S8 even though I don't think so but yeah that might app just saying probably not but just saying I'm personally really curious to see how the S8 would compare to something like a Google pixel because this one doesn't have any overlay running on top of it this is full stock Android so yeah let me know in the comments if you want to plus we have 3 GB of RAM and on the S8 plus we have 4 GB of RAM now when it comes to the CPU on the iPhone we have the Apple A1 chip which has a dual core high performance 2.34 GHz chip inside and also a dual core low performance about a 1.7 gz processor inside and the apple1 is based on a 60 NM process now on the S8 plus we have the Aus 895 yes this is the Aus or the international model this one comes with a quad core high performance 2.3 gz processor and also a qu core low performance 1.7 gz processor and the xus 895 is based on a 10 nanometer processor so quite a big difference basically two generations ahead of the 60 nmet that's inside the iPhone 7 plus yeah so judging from the specs alone the Samsung Galaxy S8 plus should theoretically smoke the iPhone let's see if that's actually true starting off with Section number two the Apple launch speed test okay so Apple laun speed test exactly the same apps on both and I'm going to start a timer and see which phone loads up all these apps the first okay so the timer has started on both devices and BBC News is the first app which the Samsung Galaxy S8 loads first then we're on to CNN again Samsung Galaxy S8 actually loads it first then onto the camera app and here I'm trying to take five photos which is pretty difficult because there's no light uh behind the camera since they're both sitting on a desk so it's pretty difficult to take five photos but a Samsung Galaxy S8 is actually ahead and onto crossy road and it it actually seems that the iPhone seems to load crossy Road uh first so yeah there we go and I'm going to tap uh five times on the screen now let's go to Super Mario run so I fast forwarded a bit and the iPhone has actually loaded Super Mario run uh the first so yeah the iPhone is ahead so let's go and launch the next app which is Temple Run 2 and Temple Run 2 has almost finished loading on the iPhone 7 and what I'm going to do next is press the play button and quit the app as soon as it starts so quit now let's move on to angry Birds 2 the Samsung Galaxy S8 is only loading temper Run 2 just now so let me just close that as well moving on to Angry Birds 2 it seems that the iPhone did load the game first so I'm just waiting for this red bird to appear and close the game and the Samsung Galaxy S8 is indeed catching up so uh yeah it's really close to the iPhone moving on to the next game we have Hitman Go one of my favorite games actually I definitely give it a go and try it out next up we have lcraft go and the iPhone 7 plus is still ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S8 but the S8 is indeed not far behind so I'm going to go into the first chapter of the game and load up the first level the iPhone has almost loaded the game and the Samsung galaxy8 is not far behind and yeah there you go the iPhone has now loaded the game and the Samsung Galaxy S8 is almost there but now let's move on to the next game which is Minecraft so uh I'm actually going to load the same map on both devices the iPhone has already loaded Minecraft and it's already in Dead Trigger too this is one of the most demanding games out there and as you can see it's buty smooth the Trigger 2 has loaded on the iPhone 7 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 is just loading the game now now moving on to Asphalt 8 this is a really demanding game as well uh but you just have to go through like 20 menus to start a game which is a bit annoying but yeah the game is loaded as well and now the iPhone is onto Real Racing 3 the Samsung Galaxy S8 is just opening asphal 8 right now moving on to the next app we have Grand Theft Auto San Andrea so this is a pretty demanding game this is one of the most demanding games you can get so start a new game on the iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy S8 is still at Asphalt 8 so it has a ton of catching up to do now the iPhone has already loaded GTA San Andreas and it's now moving on to the next game which is Hearthstone the iPhone is still ahead and now let's move on to some productivity apps so I'm going to open up Microsoft Word the iPhone as you can see is quite ahead in this test and now let's move on to Microsoft Excel I've chosen Excel word and PowerPoint just because you can find these on pretty much any device so PowerPoint is the next one and this actually takes quite a long time to open on the iPhone keep in mind that this video is at twice the speed now moving on to Photoshop Express I'm going to add this filter autum at Max I'm going to save the image and finally I'm going to export this video same video on both devices in 1080P the iPhone has almost finished a test the Samsung Galaxy S8 is at PowerPoint now and it's opening uh Photoshop Express and the iPhone has finished the test in 6 minutes and well almost 2 seconds and the Samsung Galaxy S8 is still going and the Samsung Galaxy S8 for some reason took ages to export this video again both in 1080P and the Samsung Galaxy S8 has finished in 8 minutes and 20 seconds so there you go if you do the math the iPhone is 27.6% faster than the Samsung Galaxy S8 next up I want to do a RAM management test and see which device actually keeps more apps open in the background so let's move on to the first app that I have open which is BBC News and surprisingly BBC News actually had to reload on both the iPhone 7 and the Samsung Galaxy S now when it comes to the clock app this one was was still loaded on both because it was pretty much the last app that I have opened and surprisingly Grand Theft Auto San Andreas was still open and running fully on the iPhone 7 plus whereas on the Samsung Galaxy S8 it actually had to reload the app again so let me just try BBC News again that's fully loaded CNN this one is actually loaded perfectly on the S8 so both the S8 and the iPhone 7 plus get a point when it comes to the camera app uh it pretty much had to reload on both even though on the iPhone you could still see the controls moving on to crassy Road both devices have to reload it from scratch which is a bit surprising considering how lightweight this app is then moving on to Super Mario run this also has to be reloaded from scratch on both than Telo run to again so I don't know I was expecting the iPhone 7 plus to perform much much better in the r management test so let's try a few more apps Angry Birds 2 same result also has to be reloaded from the background so yeah let's just try a few more and see if any of these devices actually have that app open in the background so Hitman Go nope then lcraft go nope let's try in Minecraft and Minecraft actually loaded first on the iPhone 7 plus as you can see even though it wasn't loaded in the background so let's try that trigger too again not loaded in any of these devices so yeah I'm quite disappointed especially in the iPhone at the moment GTA s address again it's still loaded in the background from the first time we've opened it so let's try the productivity apps so word this actually still open in the background on the iPhone Excel still open on the iPhone really surprised and then PowerPoint still open on the iPhone so it seems that the iPhone managed to keep pretty much all of the most recently open apps opening the background and same goes for Photoshop Express this one is fully functional as you can see on the iPhone fully loaded in the background so five points for the iPhone so far so let's try Adobe clip and yeah this one is also loaded on the iPhone it has to reload on the S8 even though the loading time isn't that bad so uh there you go when it comes to RAM management the iPhone managed to keep six apps open in the background with only 3 GB of RAM whereas the Samsung Galaxy S8 only managed to keep one app over the iPhone with 4 GB of RAM so again you can see how good iOS uh RAM management is when compared to something like Samsung's touch with yeah big spe does take quite a lot of resources and speaking of resources let's see how fluid these phones are with all of these apps open in the background so the Samsung Galaxy S8 it's it's so laggy especially especially when it comes to launching the Bixby page just take a look at this it actually it actually crashed so yeah really really really laggy performance on the S8 with all of these apps open in the background now when it comes to the iPhone 7 the iPhone is so smooth it feels like there's actually no apps open in the background so I haven't noticed any lag or anything any slow down whatsoever and also when it comes to app performance I want to mention a few more differences so in that trigger 2 for example as you can see the iPhone is running the game at least the intro at a steady almost 60 frames per second the Samsung Galaxy S8 is I would say not even 30 it's it's definitely chopping pretty pretty badly if you take a look at the game itself there's actually a few differences in the game so there's a puddle and front on the iPhone and that puddle is missing on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and if you take a look at the car the car does appear to be different on iOS and a bit different than Android so it's a bit more sharper on the iPhone than on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and if you take look at the smoke there's more smoke coming on the iPhone and not as much smoke and the fire is a tiny bit smaller on the Samsung Galaxy S8 as well so quite a few differences now moving on to Templar Run 2 just take a look at the delay from when I actually swipe up on the screen so the iPhone is pretty much instant the Samsung Galaxy sa8 does have a tiny bit of a Slowdown nothing too major but it's definitely something that you do notice uh when playing the game and then Real Racing 3 is also pretty different on both so if you take a look at the resolution of of the game and if you take a look at specifically the edges the anti-alias sync it's so much sharper on the iPhone and on the Samsung Galaxy S8 you can see quite a lot of rough edges and then if you take a look at the stitching there's a stitching on the door on the iPhone and that stitching is missing on the Samsung Galaxy sa again if you take a look at the mirror the resolution of the image display in the mirror is higher on the iPhone so yeah as you can see there's quite a lot of differences between apps now moving on to Hearthstone this is a pretty demanding game for both IOS and Android and on the iPhone uh the scrolling uh through the collection is pretty smooth however as you can see there's a bit of a delay from when I tap the arrow key to uh the actual scroll so let's go ahead and start a game with my taunt Warrior here and the game is pretty smooth actually it's running at I don't think it's actually 60 frames per second but it's definitely over 45 I would say judging by just the I haven't noticed any lag or any stutter or anything whatsoever not even when the game starts as you can see it's pretty fluid on iPhone so on the Samsung Galaxy S8 it's so much slower just take a look at how long I actually had to sped up this video uh because it takes so long to open my collection and the delay is just crazy from when I tap the arrow to when it actually Scrolls my collection so yeah let's start a game and see how fluid the game actually is because scrolling The Collection wasn't that fluid so let me just choose the same deck and you can definitely see quite a lot of dropped frames I'm not exactly sure what the frame rate is I would say it's about 25 Maybe maybe maybe 30 uh but it's definitely not constant just take a look at the lag right now drop the frame drop was just crazy and yeah when playing a car this was like 5 frames per second but there's few app advantages on the S8 as well so just take a look at how much cleaner uh Microsoft Office looks on the S8 versus the iPhone now moving on to the actual benchmarks I'm going to do a CPU Benchmark with gek bench 4 so let me just close all the apps running in background and yeah this is a really old bug the orientation multitasking bug I'm not sure why Apple hasn't fixed this already I think this was in iOS 9 as well yeah so iOS isn't perfect either okay so running geek bench 4 on both and the iPhone has finished a test in uh 2 minutes and 36 seconds and got a pretty impressive score 3,523 points for the single cor score and 5,969 for the M for the multicore one the Samsung Galaxy S8 has finished in 4 minutes and 8 seconds so almost double uh the iPhone 7 plus but just take a look at the difference in in in the scores so the single core score there's a massive difference between these two 1,995 on the S8 and I have to scroll down let me just take a look the iPhone 6s from 2015 had a higher single core score than the Samsung Galaxy S8 from 2017 so that's something that you should keep in mind now let's move on to some systemwide benchmarks I'm going to run into Benchmark uh this basically tests out everything from the ram to the CPU to the GPU and as you can see I've already done this test before and the iPhone was a tiny bit faster than the S8 so let me just run this again just in case and the iPhone has finished in 4 minutes and 27 seconds Samsung Galaxy S8 is still going and the Samsung Galaxy S8 has finished in 5 minutes and 25 seconds 27 seconds but if you take a look at the scores the iPhone actually scored lower than in my first test and in the second test the main difference was the GPU besides the graphics all scores were higher on the iPhone 7 plus speaking of Graphics let's move on to the next test which is the GPU benchmarks so I want to do a couple of GPU benchmarks and see which phone has a much better GPU so starting off with 3D Mark slingshot this is their most demanding test and as you can see for some reason on the Samsung Galaxy S8 most textures aren't actually loaded so pretty much everything is black now this is most likely because the app hasn't been updated uh for xus 895 support maybe not even Snapdragon 835 but yeah this is the exus model by the way just take a look at how much more fluid this rain is on the Samsung Galaxy S8 versus on the iPhone 7 but still the Samsung Galaxy S8 finished first in 3 minutes and 59s seconds and the iPhone finished second for the first time in 4 minutes and 26 seconds and when it comes to the actual scores there's a pretty big difference here so on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the graphics test one we have 29.9 frames per second whereas on the iPhone we have 16.12 so a pretty big difference there Graphics has to 12 on the S8 and eight on the iPhone and even when it comes to the physics test there's a pretty big difference here as well so 34 on the S8 and the physics t one and 27 then 27 on the S8 and 10 and then 14 and four so yeah the sa definitely smashed the iPhone and this test so let's just do a couple of more GPU benchmarks so I'm going to run a gfx bench when head in test so this is run this is an offscreen test in 1080P so it's run in 1080P offscreen devices so this isn't affected by the displays by each device's display resolution the iPhone finished first in 1 minute and 6 seconds and yes 8 wasn't that far behind finishing in 1 minute and 14 seconds and they actually got some really similar scores I'm actually surprise so 6228 frames per second on the iPhone and 63 on the S8 very very close and I wanted to do a geekbench compute Benchmark as well so this tests out the GPU performance 12295 on the iPhone 7 and 8,75 on the S8 so here the difference is pretty huge between those two phones and overall I would say that when it comes to the GPU performance those devices are pretty similar since in some apps the iPhone one and in others the Samsung Galaxy S8 one next up I want to do a test that I haven't actually done before and that's a thermal test so I have a thermal camera attached to my iPad Mini 4 and as you can see the uh the iPhone 7 is running at about 34° C and the Samsung Galaxy S8 is running at about 31 and yeah it seems that on the iPhone the temperature is now going down to 32° so yeah overall the S8 did run a tiny bit cooler than the iPhone but not that big of a difference just 1 to 2° next up section number nine I want to do a couple of JavaScript benchmarks and test out the JavaScript performance of each device's browser so this is affected by the CPU performance and also by how well that browser is optimized for that CPU so I'm going to do this test first in both devices native browser so Safari on the iPhone and Samsung the Samsung browser on the S8 doesn't really have a specific name so 193 milliseconds on the iPhone and W 296 on the S8 they pretty big difference so let's just run this in Chrome and see uh if we get any better results on S8 the iPhone finished a test in 187 milliseconds so actually a tiny bit better than uh than Safari and the Samsung Galaxy S8 finished in 54 which is shockingly bad so let me just run octane uh this is a JavaScript Benchmark made by Google I'm going to run this in each device's best performing browser so Safari on the iPhone and the Samsung browser on the S8 the iPhone has finished first getting a score of 27,44 points and the S8 got 13596 so jvas performance is ALS Al much much better on the iPhone 7 and next up I want to test out the internal storage speed of each device this is something that I haven't done before and uh I've actually done a couple of tests on the iPhone and this is the highest I could get so 3155 megabytes per second right speed and 867 as the read speed which is just crazy this is this is even faster than a sata 3 based SSD please when it comes to the read speeds now on the Samsung Galaxy S8 using the exact same app we got some very different results 133 megabytes per second read speeds and 95 when it comes to the right speeds so I decided to do this test in a different app on the se8 as well so this is A1 ASD bench and here we have 529 megabytes per second read and 181 right speed so this is much more believable and uh much more similar to what we have on the iPhone let me just do this test again on the iPhone a couple of more times so 187 megabytes per second right and 581 662 yeah these scores are much more similar to what we got on the Samsung Galaxy S8 but then again with a different app A1 SD bench but yeah if you average up all of those tests the iPhone does have a faster internal storage moving on to the Wi-Fi speed test I'm going to run this separately on both devices and the Samsung Galaxy S8 got 9423 as a download speed and 75.7 4 megabits per second as an upload speed and the iPhone got 9367 megabits uh download and 80.98 so pretty similar on both this results are basically in the margin of error and finally when it comes to the fingerprint sensor this is pretty different on both because on the Samsung Galaxy S8 it's on the back to the right and on the iPhone 7 it's on the front on the home button when it comes to the unlocking speed they're both really really fast the animation is quicker on the S8 but then again you do have to take your time and find that fingerprint radar on the back which I actually found to be pretty difficult to find I haven't really gotten that used to it in almost a month of having this phone but then on the S8 you also have the option to unlock it via your iris so if you wish you have this option so you don't really have to use the Frank Pin Reader on the back but if you compare the iris scanner on S8 to the Fring print reader on the iPhone 7 because both of these so to say are on the front then the iPhone 7 spring print reader is faster but yeah there you go this was the ultimate speed test between the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the iPhone 7 plus let me know in the comments what speed test what ultimate speed test do you want me to do next and overall these are really really fast phones I mean the iPhone was a bit more fluid and faster than 8 so when it comes to uh when it comes to first party apps if you care a lot about video editing or photo editing then the iPhone is a much better option if you use apps such as iMovie for example uh then you can export 4K videos and edit 4K videos on a phone which is just crazy and it even exports faster than the 1080p video on Samsung Galaxy S8 using a third party exporter so yeah if you care a lot about productivity apps then the iPhone is a much better option however on the Android side the Samsung Galaxy S8 is still still pretty fast unfortunately most universal games that you have on IOS and Android run a tiny bit better on iOS since you don't have that many iPhones that you have to optimize those devices those apps for on Android you have hundreds of thousands of devices and the developers they don't really take time to optimize a game or an app for a specific device maybe in a future patch we'll see Asphalt 8 or uh Real Racing 3 updated to work perfectly with the Samsung Galaxy S8 even though I don't think so but yeah that might app just saying probably not but just saying I'm personally really curious to see how the S8 would compare to something like a Google pixel because this one doesn't have any overlay running on top of it this is full stock Android so yeah let me know in the comments
