21.5 inches and 27 inches i had the 27 inch 5k imac myself but those screen sizes could be getting bigger and while we've heard several rumors about this over the past month or so credible leaker love the dream just recently put his two cents in by tweeting out this which translates to the imac screen is really big bigger than the biggest one with of course the biggest one being the 27 inch model that is currently being sold right now and this lines up with previous rumors that we heard about a bigger screen coming to the imac this year as part of the redesign and mark german over at bloomberg reported back in january that the new imac models will quote slim down the thick black borders around the screen and do away with the sizeable metal chin area in favor of a design similar to apple's pro display xdr monitor and this is what the pro display xdr looks like in case you forgot or haven't seen it so yeah i mean if an imac came out and it looks like this i am instantly buying one no questions asked this is the imac of my dreams that i've been wanting for years now and it could actually be coming to fruition and be a reality here in 2021 now of course the removal of that big metal chin and the bezels around the screen is going to be how apple is going to be able to get a bigger screen size and pretty much the same physical size imac so we're expecting these new imacs both sizes which we'll talk about the smaller version here in a moment but the big one could be up to 30 to 32 inches so either 30 or 32 inches is a possibility so of course the pro display xdr is 32 inches so if apple's going to kind of recycle that design they could do that with the new imac and it could end up being 32 inches although we've seen several reports and several leaks and rumors about a 30 inch imac as well so we're expecting probably a little bit bigger but mostly the same physical size as the current 27 inch imac of course just with slim down bezels and the removal of that chin so of course the big imac is going to be the one i'm most looking forward to and probably a lot of other people as well however we might not be getting that one until later in 2021 so the one that we're expecting beforehand and pretty soon i mean even early as this month is a lower end you know a smaller imac that could be 24 inches so there have been several rumors that point towards a 24 inch display being on the next imac and that will likely be achieved again by apple simply removing the chin and some of the bezel around the screen making it nearly identical or probably the exact physical size of the current 21 and a half inch imac that's currently being sold by apple right now and we're also expecting the back of the imac to be flat now instead of kind of rounded and curved so it's going to be much more similar to like a pro display xdr or the ipad pro now not only will the new display on this imac look incredible but we could also be seeing color options come to the body itself so yeah you heard that right the 2021 imac might actually come in multiple colors so this rumor comes from john prosser who says that this new imac could come in five different colors as you see here silver space gray green sky blue and rose gold so those are the same colors that we saw on the most recent ipad air another feature that we thought might be coming to the 2021 imac is face id now we thought this was coming for a while now we even thought this would be on macbooks the m1 macbooks but that got delayed and now it looks like it might not even be coming on the new imacs either at least not the first iteration of imax so mark german reported that it won't be coming until a later iteration of the imac so whether that means it'll come on the larger 30 or 32 inch model or just a future imac that's yet to be seen but we cannot expect to see face id unfortunately on the next imac that gets released and then as for the ports on the back of the imac we haven't really seen any reports or any leaks about the back like the ports that are going to be in there so i wouldn't really expect anything too special it's probably going to be very similar to what we have on the mac mini and the previous imac so we're probably going to see like multiple thunderbolt 4 ports and usb 4.0 ports so we'll probably also get a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack for those who still want to use wired headphones since of course we did get that on the new mac mini so i would expect nothing really too drastically different on the ports on the back of this imac alright so i've kept you guys waiting long enough we can't go any further without talking about the performance that's going to be in this imac because if the design if you thought the design was a big change the performance is pretty much right there with it i mean these two are going to make this new imac incredible it's just going to take it to another level and of course we're talking about performance because we can't expect to see a new next generation m-series chip on this imac most likely going to be called the m1x chip so apple is aiming to outperform the highest end pcs on the market right now with this next generation chip again likely called the m1x so the current m1 chip has four high performance processing cores while the next generation chip inside of the imac could have up to 16 power cores and four efficiency cores although garmin reports that apple could choose the first release variations with only eight or 12 of the high performance cores enabled depending on production german also reports that quote apple engineers are also developing more ambitious graphics processors today's m1 processors are offered with a custom apple graphics engine that comes in either seven or eight core variations for its feature high-end laptops and mid-range desktops apple is testing 16 core and 32 core graphics parts so yeah we can expect significantly faster performance and significantly better gpu performance on this 2021 imac and of course we can also expect apple to completely ditch the fusion drive in favor of full ssd drives like we had on the m1 mac mini and m1 macbooks as well so full ssd plus better cpu and gpu performance it's going to make for an absolute beast of a device this thing's just going to be significantly better than the intel model even a max dot model i think maxed out 2017 5k imac with 40 gigs of ram and i'm pretty sure that this thing is going to just walk it in every category so it'll be interesting to see when i get my hands on it so as for a release date this is kind of where we're all stumped right now so rumors did point to a march release for this new imac but of course that never happened and now john prosser specifically is saying that we are conference but i don't think we go through the spring without seeing at least one of these new imac models now if we do do a staggered release which has been rumored you know multiple times as well so if we get the 24 inch model in the spring then we could see the 30 or 32 inch the bigger sized imac model potentially in late 2021 or even early into 2022 so hopefully we do see a staggered release just so we can at least get something out with this new imac and it would make sense for apple as well but we'll have to wait and see on that but just know that this new imac is coming very very soon and this is also kind of hinted at by apple themselves because they just recently discontinued multiple imac models so it discontinued the imac pro completely and the 512 gigabyte and the one terabyte
