FORD TRANSIT: The Van That Runs The World | Up To Speed

**The Evolution of Ford Vans: From Humble Beginnings to Unparalleled Reliability**

In the realm of commercial vehicles, few names are as synonymous with quality and durability as Ford. The company's vans have consistently improved their functionality, handling, and comfort over the years, making them an indispensable choice for businesses and individuals alike.

From the smallest mom-and-pop shops to massive corporations with fleets of vehicles, Ford Transit vans have earned a reputation for being incredibly reliable. This is especially important for small business owners who rely on their vehicles to operate efficiently. In fact, at one point over 60% of the American van market since 1980 was dominated by the Ford Econoline.

In the United Kingdom, more than half of all vans sold are Transits, and these vehicles have been put through their paces in some of the harshest environments imaginable. From working underground in salt mines to traversing the scorching Sahara Desert, Ford Transit vans have proven themselves to be capable and reliable.

The versatility of Ford vans has also led to a thriving market for custom conversions. Independent companies have been modifying these vehicles into everything from campers with beds, ice boxes, and kitchenettes to full four-wheel-drive adventure van conversions. As people seek to explore the great outdoors, these customized vehicles are becoming increasingly popular.

One notable example is Sabine Schmitz's sub-10-minute lap in a stock Ford diesel Transit. This impressive feat showcases the potential of these vehicles when driven by an experienced hand.

The "van life" movement has also gained significant traction in recent years, with many people opting for Ford Transits and Econolines as their full-time living situation. This trend is reflected on YouTube, where videos showcasing these conversions are extremely popular.

The rise of the "van life" movement can be attributed to various factors, including high real estate prices and a desire for more freedom and adventure. Many people are turning to Ford Transits and Econolines as a means to live life on their own terms.

In response to this trend, Ford has continued to innovate and improve its van offerings. The latest Transit model features an all-wheel-drive system, making it possible to navigate even the most challenging terrain with ease.

During our research for this episode, we discovered that Ford's Econoline vans used to offer a V10 engine option, which is still not available today but is a testament to the company's commitment to providing powerful and efficient engines. The current twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 is a formidable choice, with forged wheels available as an optional feature.

The new crew cab model has also been designed with passengers in mind, featuring onboard 4G LTE Wi-Fi, USB ports, and ample space for both passengers and cargo. This makes it the perfect vehicle for family road trips or any other occasion where you need to transport a group of people.

In conclusion, Ford vans have come a long way since their humble beginnings, and their reputation for quality, durability, and reliability has been well earned. Whether you're in the market for a commercial vehicle or a customized adventure van, Ford has something to offer. Thank you to our friends at Ford for helping us create this episode.
