Hayden's V8 Rx7 Build Begins!

My Motor is Fing Sh Everywhere and Then I Saw the Video Yesterday

I'm like oh for sure it's my brakes, I'm like yeah my brakes are done Z and then I noticed that today I'm like oh great that work freaking motor mount bolt almost came out so yeah good thing that didn't fall out while we were in the middle of a pool. I know right that could have been bad been real bad. So yeah get that fixed.

Let's Work This Down

Ricky just pulled his hatch onto the dyno and they will be tuning that here pretty soon. And uh, I'm also working on the MR2 some more while I'm over at PFI and I have some pretty valuable information for some of the MR2 guys out there that are trying to do a K swap. I'm not sure if anyone knows this but it turns out if you have a non-turbo MR2 chassis, I literally just bought Stock B series axles from like a 4 Integra and with the K series half shaft in there, that's still the stock K series half shaft but with the passenger and driver side B series axles they fit right into the MR2 like no problem at all. The B series side on that will slide right onto the K series half shaft and the other side will slide into the transmission. They're the same spline count, same lengths, and everything.

Axle Upgrade for My MR2

The axle on this end slides right into the factory MR2 Hub and this is a non-turbo MR2, I'm pretty sure the turbo ones are different but for the non-turbo ones it slides right in there no problems at all. It's like perfect length everything so that helped out a lot because I didn't even have to order any custom axles or anything like that. Brent was telling me that there's a chance they could do it, and I told him that the hubs are the same, uh, it turns out B series fit right into the Ks Ser transmission as well so this should work out just great.

I'm about to get everything bolted together, already have this side all the way in, and the axle goes straight to the half shaft right there. It fits with like no issues whatsoever. So I'm just going to finish putting this side together get the other side on and the axles for the MR2 should be done. I mean obviously, I'm probably going to have to upgrade them later on but for now, the Stock B Ser axles should work just fine.

The Only Problem

The uh axle nut actually doesn't go far down enough onto the axle itself, I'm guessing the uh stock MR2 blind is a bit longer than the Honda one. But there's still plenty of thread engagement right there. It's tightened down as you can see it doesn't go all the way down on it but that is all the way tightened down right there and the wheel still spins nice and freely so everything clears there.

Dynamic Testing

651 295, consistent with a Dino graph is though 651 on the first pool. Yeah, look at the red D, my pwm is at 60%, that's the Boost boost so we rode up here it's spiked that's when it hit spun and then the Boost just Rod back down where it's supposed to be. Yeah, and then load it out basically when it hit VTE it spun the tires and unloaded the car like coming in real hard.

Load Testing

We can take some out, take what out, what are you taking out? Nothing put in to make it smooth, put in put in put in never take out no when you you got to take some of that out you so didn't quite make the 700 but made 651 again. They're having some problems with the uh bo solenoid or something cuz it's just inconsistent and like all over the place.

Bo Solenoid Issues

Brent's trying to mess with it, so he's going to be putting on a new manifold and wastegate fuel pump and some other things move the boo solenoid away cuz right there it gets really hot and that might be part of the issue cuz this just like boost spiking or like boost cutting it's doing all kinds of things but he'll come back and try to turn it up for more but it still made 650 so it's still really good.

Axles Done

I went ahead and finished putting my axles in on the MR2, it's kind of dark in here but both axles are in everything is bolted up so the axles should be good to go for the MR2. So now I just need to find a shift linkage and like hook up the clutch and coolant lines and go from there but it's getting there at least I got this thing in today and did some more things on it

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enyou getting grumpy with me you old Asian man you getting grumpy with me oh okay hey Hayden's getting the motor pulled out of his RX7 so start on it fairly early when did you start on this thing like start on early I mean kind of early for me at least start at 10:30 10 oh pretty late then I thought you started on at like 9: no yeah we started at 10:30 and it's 1:10 right now it's actually quite a while though got pretty much everything unhooked still got to unbolt like the training Mount and some stuff but I already got the drive shaft off like all the stuff up in the engine bay that was hooked up like the little wiring harness and radiator and all that stuff so are you still going to pull the bumper off uh to pull it I try to pull the motor out without the bumper off but once I get it out I'm going to take the bumper off from the fenders off that like when I when I put the V8 in it I don't mess anything up yeah cuz these fenders are like hard to find same with like the front bumper stuff so all the rotary guys are going to be upset that these rotaries are ancient yeah thing what is it like 30 years old seem he's like 30 years old right some rotary guys is going to come by it anyway yeah it'll it'll have a new home what year is this motor's not going to waste 35 yeah this thing's like 35 years old Charlie with the quick math that's why you got to keep Asians around for they can do your quick math for you racist not racist if you but he'll have the motor out pretty soon at least by today for sure then you can get started on the V8 swap but it's definitely going to be a while cuz you still have to track down some more stuff for that like the tr56 and Nick is pulling that out of it out of an fbody on the first he said so it'll be soon be real soon so pretty soon yeah then start mocking everything up for it yeah I get the clutch with it too so that'll be nice just got to bolt it together and then get it mocked up in there but I might have to like swap around I might have to put cuz like this front cross member comes like it's like Way Forward on it and I might have to get cuz I want to do a five lug setup on the front of these so I might use the FC subframe right here and that subframe sits back further to and it's that way like the motor mounts have to like come up like over here and then stick way out that way so I might have to take that out too and do some modifications to that but we'll see I guess it's going to be sick is there still a lot of weight on it can we grab it yeah well no there's no weight on this do you want me to grab it huh it's going to fall on you no it's not coming out though no it's just it's like stuck in there well it's hitting on the back over here now oh yeah it's caught on the shifter pull it out there out you can go forward with it now go forward with it o oh hold on you have a line so want me to cut that what I don't know where it's going it's just a vacuum line pull off well there's it goes up under there somewhere P off it's just going to hit on the firewall it just go like this start P Board you to clear this get out yeah oh wait wait wait wait wait wait wait you guys are stupid go back down oh what is that it's just going to be hard cuz it's a lot ofs there you go now you're good here I'll push down on this and you P it ready oh yeah you're good jacked up yeah we pull it more and then I can lift up the rear keep going lift it up more oh yeah it'll be good yeah yeah you need to pull it out make sure doesn't hit on your yeah just watch exha oh what nothing just coolant oh it's all right I can wipe that off it's good yeah just get it out of the way first just watch that exhaust that exhaust might hit oh oh you're good bit just lower it down nice and slow puto under nice yeah I think it's long out with the rotary no more will most likely never be a rotary again never will be rot as long as you own it it won't be but no one's ever going to put rotary back Sigma fit in the GE so easily shut the hell up how magic oh don't push it so fast fck not very not very heavy so you don't even honestly push it I got it let's go pushing up for Bach you may rinse your car off huh no I can do it IID let me let me do the honors Hayden's rinsing his RX7 engine bayout right now and for those of you wondering this is what's going to be going inside it's an LS 53 he just picked this thing up a couple days ago I don't think we've shown this yet so going to be throwing a V8 in the RX7 he still has to find a T56 that's the six-speed transmission that he will be using but that's going to be going in the RX7 hopefully pretty soon whenever he gets going on that so stay tuned it's going to be sick just a hair that way oh oh yeah yeah your motor is fing sh everywhere and then when I saw the video yesterday I'm like oh for sure it's my brakes I'm like yeah my brakes are done Z and then I noticed that today I'm like oh great that work freaking motor mount
