2024 Audi RS6 Avant finally has the PERFORMANCE level it needs

if you're a wagon fan one of the more anticipated cars in recent years has to be the Audi RS6 Avant it's a super fast long roof with aggressive looks and great power well okay Power I guess because Audi is adding in more juice for the 2024 model year allow me to introduce the much more Mighty Audi RS6 Avant performance ha

to remind you of the normal specs of the car the non-performance RS6 Avant uses a twin turbo 4-liter V8 engine which produces 591 horsepower 590 pound-feet of torque there's enough shove mounted under the hood to propel this not so smelt wagon from zero to 60 miles per hour and maybe a tick over three seconds flat that's quick but now things are about to happen even more quickly with the performance trim Audi's bumped engine output to 621 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque

that should be enough to get the stopwatch to click to a halt in under three seconds for that 0-60 mile per hour Dash it's not just engine upgrades here though as Audi is further tweaking the wheel and tire setup the center differential the drive mode programming and even ditching a few pounds from the cabin there's less sound deadening inside so you'll hear more of the puffed up Mill

Audi fits the RS6 performance with 285 series tires and 22-inch Wheels which Audi says provide more grip while reducing unsprung weight compared to the standard RS6 couple those changes plus the extra power with reworked Driveline tuning and you have a machine that is officially enjoying the super wagon party you might be saying isn't it already there well sort of

there are three main Mega wagons you could buy here in the states the aforementioned Audi the Mercedes AMG E63 and the Porsche Panamera sport Turismo I've driven all three and I was most excited for the arrival of the Audi and it left me underwhelmed compared to the other two that's because the Mercedes is an angry stunner with its 603 horsepower engine

that makes great noise offers a proper luxury inside and is still excellent at being a wagon meanwhile the Porsche and Turbo S guys cranks out 620 horsepower feels like a 911 behind the wheel and is basically excellent at everything it does Audi arrived to fight these two with plenty of weight slightly overwrought styling and quite a bit less power

the RS6 never had a chance now clearly it does since the performance version is the one that should have arrived right out of the gate it should be as quick as the other two if not quicker with this extra power and a slight reduction in weight it will undercut that top spec Porsche by many many thousands of dollars and probably come in just a bit more than the bets

speaking of price I was curious what used 2021 and 2022 models are going for popping on AutoTrader I found the lowest one was with under 10 000 miles and asking just under 120 Grand although one showed up for just over 11 000 that was a 2003 RS6 sedan cool car but not the one I was looking for at this time click the link somewhere near my ear to see what I mean

so with the 2024 RS6 performance Audi is giving us the Uber wagon long roof fans have been dreaming about and the super Trio is ready to be just that a proper shootout might be in order so maybe I'll have to ask my Kelly Blue Book colleagues about setting up a test one last note though if you don't like wagons Audi is also applying the performance upgrades to the RS7 but you know you're wrong for not liking wagons
