Volkswagen Passat Estate 2017 360 degree test drive _ Passenger Rides

Welcoming You to a 360° Passenger Drive Video: Exploring the Volkswagen Passat Estate

As we begin this comprehensive review of the Volkswagen Passat Estate, I invite you to join me on an immersive journey through its various features and capabilities. We're currently situated behind the wheel of an automatic-equipped Passat Estate, and as we start the engine, notice how smoothly it purrs. The manual gearbox, while functional, is somewhat notchy in comparison.

I must confess that my preference lies with this automatic transmission, which provides a seamless driving experience. The added benefit of paddle shifters allows you to adjust gears at your discretion, creating a sensation reminiscent of Formula 1 cars. When we got behind the wheel, I was delighted to discover that the Passat Estate handles remarkably well, even for its size and weight.

One aspect worth mentioning is the presence of adaptive dampers, which further refine the ride by adjusting stiffness levels. This feature can be utilized in conjunction with various driving modes: Comfort, Normal, Individual, or Sport – each of which adjusts throttle response and steering sharpness accordingly. We'll explore these features in more depth later on.

For now, I've chosen to opt for the comfort setting, as it provides a relaxing experience suitable for leisurely drives. The Passat Estate truly shines in this configuration, offering an uncanny ability to carve through corners without compromising its passenger-friendly nature. Nevertheless, those who crave a bit more excitement may enjoy shifting between these driving modes.

As we delve deeper into the review, we'll examine the infotainment system, featuring an upgraded 8-inch touchscreen with navigation capabilities. This system boasts an intuitive interface, allowing users to navigate various menus and access information at their fingertips. It's also worth noting that some features require a bit of experimentation – such as understanding how to cycle between different menu options.

I'm particularly fond of the frameless mirrors in this vehicle; they add a touch of elegance and sophistication to the overall design. When moving your camera around, you'll notice these mirrors come into play, providing an immersive view of the surroundings without the distraction of traditional side mirrors. This feature allows users to fully engage with their environment while driving.

Moving on from the exterior, it's essential to acknowledge the excellent interior space offered by the Passat Estate. With ample room for rear passengers and cargo, this vehicle truly shines in terms of practicality. The design itself is elegant and refined, though perhaps not particularly attention-grabbing. Quality-wise, however, the Passat Estate delivers, providing a quiet and comfortable driving experience.

As we near the end of our review, it's worth mentioning that there are some alternatives to consider – namely, the Scirocco SuperCoupé Estate. While these two models share many similarities, the Scirocco is significantly more affordable, making it an attractive option for those seeking a Volkswagen badge without breaking the bank.
