How To Disable Multitasking On Any iPhone Or iPod Touch iOS4

How to Remove Multitasking from Your iOS 4 Device

By Everything Apple Pro

In this video, we will be showing you how to remove multitasking from your iOS 4 device. This is especially useful if you accidentally selected it while jailbreaking on your iPhone 3G or iPod Touch second gen, as it can slow down those devices significantly. Another reason you may want to do this is because you have an iPhone that you're using Multiflow and background with, but you don't need the multitasking feature of iOS 4 because you are using a different type. Lastly, you may be that guy who just doesn't use it at all because you've gotten used to the older firmwares where you didn't need it at all or for whatever reason, you just don't need it.

Additionally, removing multitasking can make a significant difference in the speed of your device, especially on the iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G. However, I wouldn't recommend doing this on the 3G or iPhone 4 or the third and fourth generation iPods because they are devices that I use a lot and it doesn't take up a lot of ram so there's really no reason why you would want to remove it.

For this tutorial, we will be using Z Toggle, which is free and can be downloaded from the App Store. To start, simply search for Z toggle in the App Store and install it. If you really want to do this on your iPod Touch 4th or third gen, it's a different method that I won't be going through, but you'll simply download the individual pack for the iPod third gen or the fourth gen by searching for disable in Cydia and it will download Winterboard as well.

Once you have downloaded and installed Z Toggle, we can proceed with removing multitasking from your iOS 4 device. The app is relatively straightforward to use - simply open it on the springboard and inside, you'll see your device and that's the only one you'll be able to select. Simply click off multitasking and respring, and that's it - it will just respring real quick and you no longer have multitasking.

One of the main benefits of removing multitasking is a big difference in the speed of your device. Multitasking no longer works after you've removed it, so if you want to reactivate it, you can simply go back into Z Toggle and reactivate it using the same method.
