5 Awesome Things about the Huawei Matebook X Pro! _ The Tech Chap

The Mate Book X Pro: A Premium Laptop with Impressive Features

Considering I still use my mate book X Pro every day, I wanted to share with you guys five things I loved about it. Starting with the design, this is a beautiful thin and light laptop. It's less than 15 millimeters thick and weighs about 1.3 kilograms. The gray metallic chassis gives it a premium and classy look. It's got ridiculously thin bezels, a huge touchpad, a fingerprint reader built into the power button, and surprisingly awesome speakers. Like really good. The Quill speaker setup is boosted by some fancy Dolby Atmos enhancements, and yeah, it's one of the best sounding laptops I've ever used.

One thing I really appreciate is how well thought out the ports are included on this laptop. We have included one USB Type A port alongside the two Type C's. Now, I know that Type C is the future, but it does come in handy sometimes to have both. Also, one of the USB C's supports Thunderbolt 3, which I actually use all the time for my second screen. It supports up to a 5k resolution, and alternatively, if you wanted, you could plug in an external graphics card, so it's a beautiful laptop but the standout feature is that screen.

It's a 13-point 9-inch 3K touchscreen display with a world-high screen-to-body ratio of 91%, which I call a full-view display. And you can see why not only does it look seriously futuristic but it means we can get a big screen in a more compact laptop. The peak brightness is 450 nits, and the color accuracy is 100% sRGB. I use it for a lot of photo editing and Lightroom, video racing in Premiere Pro, and when I'm not working, I'm usually watching YouTube videos on Netflix. It's a touchscreen as well, and while I don't always use it, it's nice to have the option, and sometimes it is just more convenient moving on to number three.

The Mate Book X Pro has a bit of a party trick. You may already know about this, but as you can see because of that super thin bezel there's actually no room for the webcam. Not only that, but a lot of people do try to cover their webcams as they worry about privacy. So, while we have come up with a really nifty solution and actually put it under a key between F6 and F7, the recessed webcam pops up, and while the position looking up your nose isn't ideal, I think it's a pretty creative solution considering just how thin those bezels are.

Next up, let's talk specs. The Mate Book X Pro comes with an 8th-gen Intel i5 or i7 processor, quad-core you serious chips, 8 or 16 gigs of RAM, and 256 or 512 gigs of storage. But as well as that on some of the higher-spec SKUs, you can actually get it with an NVIDIA GeForce MX 150 dedicated graphics card with 2 gigs of VRAM. My Mate Book X Pro has the i7, 16 gigs of RAM, and the MX 115, which is a big improvement over Intel's integrated graphics. So, I can actually do some light gaming plus it means I can comfortably edit 1080p video.

Finally, even though I have the higher-spec model, battery life is still really good. We claim you'll get about 12 hours of use, but maybe you can with light use. I get about 9 hours of normal use, which definitely sees me through a full workday. It also charges via the USB C port, so you can use the same charger for your phone, which is really handy. Plus, if you're hooking it up to a second screen like this via a USB-C, it'll also charge the laptop well with just one cable.

Overall, the Mate Book X Pro ticks all the boxes and I use it every day. It's a premium laptop so as you would expect, it does have a premium price starting at around £1200 although as I say, there are some great deals on mine now at retailers like Amazon, Oh calm, very analogous, and so that's five reasons why I really like this laptop but what do you think?
