Tour This Colorful L.A. Home Filled With Eclectic Elegance _ Handmade Home
**The Art of Creating a Cozy Space: A Home Decor Journey**
As I walk through my home, I'm reminded that every space is a reflection of who we are and what we value. For me, it's all about creating a sense of warmth, comfort, and personality in each room. From the dining room to the bedroom, every element has been carefully curated to reflect my style and taste.
**The Dining Room: A Space for Relaxation and Memories**
My dining room is one of my favorite spaces in the house. It's an eclectic mix of styles, with original French chairs that I had shipped from France, taking eight weeks to arrive. The marble table adds a touch of sophistication and elegance, while the black wallpaper creates a cozy and intimate atmosphere. I love how it feels like a warm hug, inviting me to linger over meals and create memories with loved ones. The papier-mâché birds on the wall add a playful touch, giving the space a quirky whimsical feel that's both fun and wild.
**The Most Handmade Space in the House**
Speaking of handmade touches, my dining room is definitely the most labor-intensive space in the house. I painted the walls myself, curated the wallpaper, and even made the shelves and cut the glass bevels to create a unique look. It's a space that feels like it was created by me, with all my imperfections and quirks on display. That's what makes it so special – it's not just a room, but a reflection of my personality and style.
**The Kitchen: A Calming Oasis**
After the boldness of the dining room, my kitchen is a nice palate cleanser. The white subway tiles and classic cutting board island create a calm and serene atmosphere, making me feel like I'm in a spa. I hand-cut the shelves myself, and my husband brought back these beautiful Italian and French-inspired tiles to add an extra layer of handmade charm. It's a space that feels tailored to this little spot, with every element carefully chosen to reflect my style.
**The Living Space: A Gallery Hallway**
My living space is a gallery hallway that reminds me of the museums I visited in Europe. The classic neoclassical art on the walls requires a fresh and new color palette to make it stand out. That's why I found these beautiful pencil portraits at the Pasadena Rose Bowl Flea Market – they're one-of-a-kind, and each brushstroke tells a story. This is also where my grandmother's painting hangs, which I inherited and love dearly. Art has always been important to me, and having that handmade touch in every space makes it feel like a part of our family.
**The Bedroom: A Sanctuary for Self-Care**
My bedroom is where the magic happens – it's my sanctuary, my haven. After choosing calming colors and adding Moroccan curtains with an Art Deco twist, I wanted to create a space that felt both peaceful and empowering. The layered pillows, art, and drapes give the room a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making me feel like I'm wrapped in a warm hug. And then there's my jewelry armoire – a darling little space that I painted myself and gave a personalized touch with handmade accessories.
**The Power of Personal Touches**
As I look around my home, I realize that what we put into our spaces reflects who we are as individuals. It's not just about aesthetics; it's about creating a sense of belonging and connection to ourselves and others. By incorporating personal touches, like handmade decor and unique accessories, we can make our homes truly feel like us. So don't be afraid to get creative, take risks, and put your stamp on every space – that's where the magic happens, and your home becomes an extension of your soul.
