Maker Faire New York 2017 (Vlog)

The Experience of Maker Faire

As we walked around the convention center where Maker Faire was taking place, we felt like we were being immersed in a whole new world. It was great to see what everyone else had done and just try to absorb it all. We met up with other people we knew, wandered around together, and tried to find the first talk that would be of interest to us. The talks at Maker Faire are always a highlight, and this year's lineup did not disappoint.

We ended up attending one of the most solid talks on the subject of making on YouTube afterwards. We met up with some of the YouTubers from last night and decided to have a second lunch together. One thing that struck us about the Maker Faire community is how diverse it was - some people were big names in the industry, while others were just starting out. But despite our differences, everyone seemed to be there for the same reason: to share their passion for making and learning from one another.

As the day drew to a close, we walked back to our hotel where an after-party had been set up by MatterHackers and Inventables. It was a rooftop party, which made us feel like VIPs - at least, that's what it felt like! The atmosphere was lively and fun, with people from all walks of the maker community coming together to network and socialize. We even got to talk to some of the business leaders in the industry, including the CEO of Inventables.

After a long day of mingling and networking, we headed back to our Airbnb and decided that we needed to create a vlog about our experience at Maker Faire. However, with the time it was getting late (we were all running on fumes by this point!), we didn't want to risk sacrificing too much quality in the process. We decided to leave it for another day.

Day Two of Our Adventure

On our second day at Maker Faire, we decided not to spend as much time wandering around and exploring everything on offer. Instead, we focused on attending some talks and networking with other makers. One of the highlights of our day was meeting up with LolzBot, who had been instrumental in encouraging us to attend Maker Faire in the first place.

We were also lucky enough to meet Dan, the CEO of Global Board, who showed us how to use one of their cool technologies. It was a great experience, and we felt really grateful to have had the chance to learn from someone with so much expertise in the field. We also spent some time chatting with other makers and learning about all the amazing projects they were working on.

As the day drew to a close, we decided to shut down the convention center - it was getting late, and everyone seemed to be packing up their things! We said our goodbyes and headed back to our Airbnb, feeling exhilarated from the experience of Maker Faire. Our next adventure would take us to Atlanta in late February, where we would be attending Workbench Con.

What's Next?

As we reflect on our experience at Maker Faire, it's clear that this event has had a profound impact on us. We feel like we've been given a chance to connect with other makers and learn from them, which is exactly what we're passionate about. We also realized just how diverse the maker community is - there are so many people doing such amazing things, and yet they all seem to be united by their shared passion for making.

We're excited to share our experience at Maker Faire with our audience, and to answer as many of your questions as possible in a talk we'll be giving in Atlanta. We want to make sure that everyone has the chance to learn from us, whether you can attend the talk or not - so stay tuned for more information about how you can engage with us, whether it's through comments below, social media, or a Q&A video.

In the end, our experience at Maker Faire was exactly what we were looking for. We felt like we'd found our tribe, and that this was where we were meant to be. We're excited to take all of these lessons and experiences back to our own projects, and to see just how far they'll take us. And we hope that you've enjoyed hearing about our adventure - don't forget to subscribe, hit the like button if you have, and join us on our next journey!
