September TBR!! (I Officially Declare It's Fall)

The Stormlight Archive: A Journey Through the Ages

I'm so excited to share with you my upcoming reading list for September, and it's packed with some amazing books across various genres. As always, I'll be diving into epic fantasy worlds, thrilling adventures, and thought-provoking stories that will keep me on the edge of my seat.

One of the most anticipated books on my list is the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson. This series has been generating a lot of buzz lately, and I can see why. It's set in a world plagued by endless war that's been happening for a long time, with a diverse cast of characters that include individual soldiers fighting on the front lines, princes or kings, and spies trying to gain good graces with scholars to steal information to help their families. With its unique magic system, complex world-building, and engaging storylines, I'm confident that this series will become a favorite among many readers.

As for my next read, I'm eager to dive into The Space Between Worlds by Rory Power. This science fiction novel has been drawing me in since I first saw the synopsis, which revolves around parallel worlds and interdimensional travel. The main character, Cara, is perfect for this kind of journey, having died in 372 different worlds. However, when some of her remaining versions start getting killed off, she's thrust into a political struggle that will test her skills and wits. I'm also excited to hear that the book has a great sapphic romance, which adds an extra layer of depth to the story.

For something faster-paced and thrilling, I've got Burn Our Bodies Down by Rory Power on my list. This novel is a page-turner that follows Margot as she tries to uncover the truth about her mother's past and the mysterious events that have been unfolding in their small town. With its dark and suspenseful tone, this book promises to be a great way to get into the fall vibes and spooky atmosphere.

Lastly, I've got a non-fiction memoir on my list, Becoming by Michelle Obama. This is a highly anticipated book that has everyone talking, and for good reason. As the first lady of the United States, Michelle Obama shares her personal story, from childhood to her time in the White House, offering a unique glimpse into the life of a remarkable woman. I'm excited to listen to the audiobook, narrated by Michelle herself, as I plan to devour it while working.

As I wrap up my reading list for September, I'm feeling hopeful and optimistic about meeting my goals. With these books, I'm sure to be transported to new worlds, experience thrilling adventures, and learn valuable lessons from real-life stories. Stay tuned for updates on my progress, and I'd love to hear from you in the comments – what books do you hope to read in September?

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: eneveryone it's regan and welcome back to another video today i'm going to be chatting through my september tbr i feel like we're on the cusp of fall and while in some ways i'm not entirely ready to let summer go from like a wardrobe perspective i've also completely decorated my apartment in fall decor so clearly i am ready for fall i'm ready for cozy sweaters i'm ready for pumpkin spice lattes i'm ready for fall leaves i'm ready for it all i am kind of looking at my books and starting to kind of integrate some cozier reads obviously doing that more so in october but hey let's get an early start if you will but without further ado let's go ahead and dive right into the tbr the first book i'm gonna chat about is one that i'm already reading and that is the ship of magic by robin hobb i mentioned this in my wrap up but i was only able to read about 200 pages before the month of august ended but so far i'm honestly loving this book so much this is the first book to the live ships trilogy which is the second series within like the larger robin hobb universe and so far as i said i'm loving it it also is contrasting the farseer trilogy in some interesting ways in that that this is multi-perspective with lots of different povs versus the farseer trilogy was very much focused on our main character fits as well as kind of staying in one central location versus this we're going all over the place and because people are merchants and pirates and traders and all sorts of things we're seeing all sorts of different places and i am having a great time so far the writing has captured me immediately i feel like robin hobb's writing throughout all of her books has progressively gotten better and i just feel like i'm already rooted with these characters in the world so just excited to see how things begin to connect to the farseer trilogy but honestly loving this a lot pirates and merchants and trade routes all of those things it's been a great time so i plan to finish this this month and hopefully pick up the second one soon but yeah off to a great start ramen hob big fan girl over here she is the best from there i also hope to pick up jade city speaking of trade and tariffs and all of those things this is a book that i have heard literally only amazing things from from everyone on booktube and this is a kind of like godfather meets fantasy series that just sounds so good this is set in like one central city and essentially jade trade rules it all not only is jade very expensive but if you're able to consume it you get like very powerful magical abilities and two uh central crime families kind of control all jade trade and usually they're at each other's throats but i think a power balance begins to shift when a third individual kind of enters the market not only are they also trying to sell jay but i think they also found an ability for more people to be able to consume it which is also kind of putting the power balance at risk i've heard literally only incredible things about this from everyone from a political perspective from a city perspective from a romance perspective i hope this is just full of grey morality characters doing bad things to try to you know expand their own power i'm here for all of that and honestly if you look at the back of the book it's literally just like quotes from every well-known fantasy author being like this is the best thing ever so i really want to be echoing that this sequel i think also just recently came out so perfect thing to start and then move on to the second book similar to kind of what i did with the poppy war you know just kind of keep it moving through series before i forget everything but yeah i cannot wait for this i feel like this is going to be a new fave i have high high hopes for this from there i also really hope to pick up a new release that's coming out in the month of september and that is not this but the third book to the mere visitor series by christelle dabos this is a why fantasy series that honestly has just taken me away with book one i've honestly just fallen in love with since book one it's just one of the most imaginative and interesting life fantasies i've truly encountered in a long time in this story we follow our main character ophelia who honestly just wants to live a nondescript life and for everyone to leave her alone she wants to run her museum and just go about her day to day ophelia also has an interesting set of magical powers she can touch objects and basically see their entire history she can also travel through mirrors unfortunately at the beginning of this book her family has secured her a marriage and matt she's kind of been trying to avoid marriage for a long time and in her family's frustration they finally secured her a match in a far away spire in this fantasy world there are like different spires that float in the sky and each spire politically and like structurally and magically are all very different from each other and they each all have their own family spirit that comes from some sort of religious or mythological background which honestly just creates some of the most fascinating world building i have encountered and we follow a feeling in the first one as she travels to her new spire to meet her soon-to-be husband and she's kind of thrown in the middle of their very vicious politics very different from her home spire i would kind of equate it to like versailles meets russian court politics and everyone uses illusions to like trick people it's absolutely cutthroat and fascinating i love the first two it's truly just one of the most unique why stories i've encountered in a long time the romance is unusual the characters are unusual and i love ophelia because she is quiet but she's very sure of herself and i really like seeing her kind of encounter and tackle problems head-on anyway i'm very excited for the third book comes out early this month and i hope to read it as well next up i am starting a bit of a reread and that is the way of kings by brandon sanderson the fourth book of the stormlight archives comes out this november and i just need to be prepared for that and that means i want to reread the entire series in preparation i definitely remember a lot of what's happened in the first three books but i wanted to be like top of mind as i'm just so excited for this fourth book to come out and obviously this is my favorite fantasy series of all time yes i said that so i feel confident that i'm gonna love it from beginning to end and it's just gonna be a great way to pass the time to be frank but this is a multi-perspective epic story by brandon sanderson we follow a myriad of different characters within this fantasy world but it's kind of centered on this like endless war that's been happening for a long time one of the perspectives is an individual in this sort of like group of soldiers fighting on the front lines another is a prince or a king and then another is a spy trying to like get in good graces of scholars to like steal information to help her family it's so good so many good things happen in this i can't wait to read it and maybe you guys can read along like if you're wanting to read the stormline archives hey join on this journey with me i'm gonna be reading book one and hopefully book two and three before the fourth one comes out i am so excited epic journeys ancient oaths fighting combat intrigue it has it all and i can't wait for it all i also can't wait to re-enter all the memes of this world too the next book i hope to read this month is the space between worlds which is a science fiction novel as i'm trying to read more sci-fi in the coming months as well this is a book that honestly intrigued me right when i read the synopsis it has to do with parallel worlds and essentially now travel between these parallel worlds as possible but there's a catch and that catches if you have like another existence on that parallel world you can't travel there which makes our main character cara perfect for this because she has died in 372 total worlds which actually makes her a perfect candidate to kind of be piloting a lot of these programs and doing a lot of like multi-world traveling but when some of her last remaining like versions of herself begin to be killed off she's kind of thrown in sort of this political struggle i heard this also has a great sapphic romance but truly this sort of multiverse travel and like thriller element really caught my eye and i'm hoping to love this a lot so yeah i really want to read this it's also not very long and i feel like a good book to break up some of my longer fantasy reads that i'm constantly reading so yeah i hope to get to this and share my thoughts but i think i'm gonna really like it all right i promise we're in the home stretch two more books to talk about the next book i want to read this month is burn our bodies down by rory power this book i just feel like is kind of like a great book to read now right before fall it's a thriller it's a mystery novel i don't know i just want to read something that's like super fast-paced a page-turner also not very long and one that'll just capture my attention from beginning to end this follows her main character margot who essentially has always lived in a small apartment with her mother and her mother has always been really discreet about her past and like their family and where she came from growing up no matter how much margot tries her mother will never reveal anything one day marco stumbles on a piece of her mother's past and she decides to kind of seize it and go investigate which leads her to a small town and there she begins to realize that maybe her mother was running something or maybe her mother is just lying to her about something and so begins a dark thriller mystery that has a family drama at its center which is always my favorite i hope this is weird i hope there's lots of small town secrets and i just want to just be engaged i would want to fly through this and kind of feel the fall vibes hopefully the spooky vibe so definitely excited to pick this up and i will let you know i'm still not over this cover i think it's awesome and the last book i want to read this month is actually a nonfiction memoir and that is becoming by michelle obama this is a memoir that honestly everyone who's read it has loved it and i read a memoir last month and it's really inspired me to read more i just want to read more stories from people in their own personal experiences and i just again have heard exceptional things about this i'm going to actually be listening to the audiobook as it's narrated by michelle obama um yeah i really really want to read this and i think obviously this kind of encounters just her whole life from childhood to obviously being the first lady and everything in between i'm really excited to pick this up i'm going to be listening to it throughout the month while i'm working so yeah that is the last book on my tbr so yes i had a lot of books i'm realizing now that i hope to read this month but i've been you know really good with my reading game throughout the year so i'm hopeful that i'll be able to get to everything anyway i hope you guys enjoyed this
