A Major Update to Windows 10 is Here
It's Friday, April 27th, and Redman has finally released the April update of Windows 10 after it was delayed due to an issue that was causing some testers to get the dreaded blue screen of death. Hopefully, they've got that ironed out by now, and the latest update does include some noteworthy changes and features.
One of the most notable additions is called Timeline, which might look a bit similar to the Time Machine feature on Macs but is different in many ways. It allows users to go backwards and see their activity over the last 30 days, pick up where they left off on a project or document, and even let "it slide" as it were. This feature works not only on desktops but also on mobile devices if you use the Edge browser at home and on your phone.
With our increasing glut of notifications interrupting our workflow more and more, another feature called Focus Assist is a welcome addition. It lets users work in relative peace depending on how they set it up, providing a much-needed respite from the constant stream of digital distractions. Check out all the key details on the latest Windows 10 update at the link.
Having a website is still a must-have for anyone running a business or having a passion project these days, and now online payments companies Square have reeled in website design company Weebly to create a streamlined ecommerce experience for business users. According to a Square official (and we couldn't resist saying so), the pairing opens up the opportunity for businesses to have an "omni-channel," meaning they can now publicize their artisan avocado toasts startup and process payments through one company.
Square dropped about three hundred sixty five million dollars on the deal, said they should have things wrapped up soon, so look for those updates from Square this summer. The idea of having a website seems almost quaint these days, but it's still essential for anyone looking to establish an online presence.
In other news, getting a whole bunch of really famous movie stars together in a single movie is a Hollywood trope that some might say is better the more stars involved, right? But it can also be perilous when it comes to storytelling. With big paychecks and bigger egos, actually producing a movie that people will pay to see becomes a challenge.
However, it looks like Disney/Marvel have pulled it off with their ultimate Avengers movie, Avengers: Infinity War. According to DT film critic Phil Horne (and we're linking to his review for you), the movie is actually really good, and it's been a long time coming. Avengers: Infinity War is the long-awaited super mashup of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that's been 10 years and nineteen movies in the making.
Finally, everyone is together to have it out with Thanos, played by a heavily CGI Josh Brolin who is snapping up all the Infinity stones like he's on some cosmic garage saleing binge or something. Collect the stones and you rule the universe, or in Thanos' case, you get to wipe out half of all life in the universe. Despite the runtime closing in on two and a half hours, there are some sharper focus moments on this movie, and it almost feels worth the ticket price.
If you're interested in learning more about Infinity Ward today, we'll be talking about it live at 2 p.m. Pacific on YouTube, so check that out. And for the rest of the day's tech news, head on over to Digital Trends calm.
Thanks for watching and we'll see you next week.
