The Review: Cult of Mac's Take on the EO Wi-Fi Hub

I'm L KY with Cult of Mac, and I'm here to talk about the EO Wi-Fi Hub, a product that has left me impressed. The EO is available as a pack of three units, rather than being sold as one single unit. This design choice makes it an attractive option for those who need to cover a larger area.

In my opinion, this is one of the first products I've reviewed in a long time that truly lives up to its promise. Setting it up was a breeze, and it's even better than my old trusty Apple AirPods. As someone who has been using Apple's Airport products for years, I can confidently say that the EO Wi-Fi Hub is a significant improvement.

One of the standout features of the EO Wi-Fi Hub is its ability to provide backups. This feature is something I've always loved, and it's been particularly useful in my home setup. With two computers backing up to this hub, I've experienced minimal issues, and the process has been headache-free. However, there is a significant drawback to the device: coverage.

When placed in the middle of the house, as I have done, the EO Wi-Fi Hub only provides coverage in three rooms. This lack of range becomes apparent when trying to access devices at the back or front of the house. The same issue has been experienced by others who have purchased similar products, including Apple AirPort Express hubs.

I've tried various solutions to this problem, such as purchasing additional hubs and placing them throughout the house. However, I've found that these solutions often come with their own set of issues. For example, I've had to constantly restart the device and reset the network, which can be frustrating and unreliable.

In an effort to find a more reliable solution, I purchased another Wi-Fi Hub from Google, which I connected using Ethernet. However, this solution also came with its own set of drawbacks. The hub couldn't extend my existing network, requiring me to run two separate networks, which added complexity to my setup.

Despite the limitations of the EO Wi-Fi Hub, I believe it's still worth considering for those looking to upgrade their home network. The pack of three units costs $500, which is certainly a significant investment. However, when purchased individually, each hub can be had for around $200. Additionally, the company behind the EO offers the option to purchase additional hubs at an extra cost, allowing users to expand coverage as needed.

In terms of square footage, the company claims that the pack of three units will cover the average property. While this is not officially stated, various user reports suggest that it's sufficient for a small to medium-sized house. For those who require more extensive coverage, purchasing additional hubs can be done at an extra cost.

Ultimately, I believe that Wi-Fi has become essential in our daily lives, and it's worth investing in a reliable solution like the EO Wi-Fi Hub. While it may not offer perfect coverage, its ease of use and backup features make it a solid choice for those looking to upgrade their home network.
