Driving a Yellow Mercedes: A Winter Driving Experience

I'm driving a yellow Mercedes, and it's a sporty contact 6 or viking contact 7 in the winter. If you experience actual wintry conditions, you're not in Florida, you know everybody. Watch our winter driving experience video - it's got low views, but it was actually my favorite video to do film and drive experience ever. We had like the most fun, yeah that is, peak performance with straight pipes if you're a fan of us, you'll like that video.

The Mercedes body lines are newer style, not as crispy and perfect as older ones, but they still look good. You won't see as much because of this color; it's kind of a very non-metallic paint. I still really like it, though - it's a cool color that Mercedes wouldn't offer on an S-Class, oh god no, no. But for this car, it makes perfect sense. There was that old two-door CL with a manual; it came in yellow and suits this car. It's a great color that makes it fun to drive.

The windows are frameless on this model because it's a coupe, so that's fine. Luxury things you have no issues with - that's just how it is. The tail lights look pretty okay from the back view, and when I open the trunk, we have to flip the Mercedes logo like a Volkswagen. That's where the reverse camera hides; it's always nice and clean. There's also a cool diffuser in the middle of the trunk - it looks great.

So, would you rather drive a yellow CLA 35 or that silver S3? I'd actually rather drive this one because it's more fun, even in yellow. I've been driving like a bit of a d-bag on the highway because it's actually really fun to drive. All right, so now let's move on to the interior.

We have the last-gen Mercedes infotainment system with a touchpad and touchscreen interface. We can use Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which is pretty good. The infotainment is decent; nothing's changed except it'll probably be like the new S-Class in the future. I'm all right with it - I mean, not my favorite; I think BMW systems are more enjoyable for me. However, I do like hard buttons for climate control - yeah, and these vents look nice.

We have gloss black trim up here and down there that you might spill coffee on, doing donuts, uh. The interior trim is really nice - it looks pretty decent. I especially like the AMG graphic option; it's a nice touch. We also have ambient lighting, which I put to yellow, obviously, because why not? There's an option for different colors.

We tested some fun things in the car - the secret buttholes account on Instagram is hilarious. They're called "secret buttholes," and we did some cup holder tests to see if they'd pass or fail. The wireless charger down there is a nice touch, too. Overall, this is a pretty cool car that I really like driving.

The price of the Mercedes starts at $52,100 Canadian, and this one costs $66,190. We compared it to its biggest competitors - the S3 and the M235i - and this model takes the cake for me. It's my favorite out of those options. We drove it, and we're like, "yes, yes." done an a45 we have done a cla 45 yes so now we can confirm okay yes in this particular chassis with these looks and is this a coupe technically sort of yes i think it's a coupe i buy the the marketing now it looks koopie when it's kind of dark with the blackout stuff it's got that nice shape it's a coupe to me uh to me the only thing that makes it a coupe is the fact that i don't fit in the back at all okay but is it an amg let's push it through cliche corner technically it's not a real amg oh all the haters are going to be in the comments but downshift my god the handling is razor sharp the turning is like instant this uh this rips way more than that audi s3 that we recently drove like you can't really get oversteer out of it but you couldn't edit the s3 either but this thing everything off and i cranked the wheel all the way floored it didn't really donut it was like you know kind of like front bias all-wheel drive systems do and then i did my steering wheel trick where i do this so that the front loses traction and then the back i actually kicked it around and came around but then i got some like warnings that the brakes were not happy and stuff but it can kind of do donuts technically and we've already done a lot of ice driving with this at the amg winter academy stuff with the 45 45 yes but i'm just saying we've drifted the cla chassis which was amazing it was so much fun and more on that fun stuff this is a seven speed dual clutch it shifts way faster or at least it feels and sounds faster than that s3 like that's quick and that sound pretty damn good downshift and again we get some pop pops which is great the audi didn't get anything they were the most pathetic pops and even though i'm technically over pops technically i actually came over pops these pops are pretty they're pretty good and then i was looking at the old m235i xdrive video you know which would be pretty much a competitor with this okay that had good backfires too okay like it was good like this and the m235i better than the s3 i think yeah i really just didn't like that m235i but we do have pumped in audio yes it is pumped in through the speakers but the tone of it is actually pretty decent and the actual exhaust does make those crackles from the outside as well let's take a listen from the outside so overall the sound experience the driving experience is really good in this like i definitely prefer this to the s3 yeah and then the exhaust tips back there that we got the sound out of are pretty cool they're like it's got lines going across and like a big oval thing and then like the round tip in the middle yeah technically it's disconnected i should fail it but i like that it's a circle so i'm gonna give it a conditional pass yeah it looks sick but at first i thought you were talking about the most protruding part of the back end the bumperettes yeah no that's not the exhaust tips that's the damn bumperettes they're huge yeah i mean like whatever it looks like whatever they look horrible it looks like you can unscrew it you can even see them on the rear view camera like that's the first thing you see that stuff does not bother me it just looks ridiculous i don't know everybody uh go on some mercedes forums and see how easily you can unbolt those i recommend doing it avoiding your warranty and just deleting it and then having to repaint the whole rear bumper i literally own a car with bumper reds yeah then the bum most bumpery head bump riots ever it's actually called a mustache on your car dude this car is just i just want to keep ripping it like it's actually fun to drive you want to use the paddles it's engaging yes and considering it's a 35 like man yeah we love the 45 when we drove it last year but then one thing this doesn't have that the cla45 did have is drift mode yeah because this is 4matic not 4matic plus yeah but the all-wheel drive system is really good we are also missing race mode so the maximum mode is s plus or plus okay and then we also have the track pace app which you can connect to your phone i think a couple years ago in like the cla 35 it's like it'll update soon with the drag racing video for telemetry you could record from your phone still this many years later cannot do it i didn't expect them to do it yeah you know toto it's unacceptable you can't do this michael where's my track pace well that's actually a pretty good uh accidental reference okay but back to this car we do have the nice steering wheel buttons that we still have on all amg's i love these uh we can still customize everything press these little lcd buttons they change absolutely love these buttons probably the best in the industry but what we don't have is radar cruise lane keep on here no we don't because it's a driver spec now you can get it and get the options you should have got the options you can also option 360 cameras where this only has the reverse camera but it has the full radar but this camera quality is so good that like compared to a lot of the other luxury brands and kind of luxury brands we've driven and like just even like porsches and audis this is the best and anyone who doesn't have cameras this good in the next four years shouldn't be allowed to sell cars in the united states and back to the actual suspension it's really really good amgs are typically on the stiffer side and this is one of those but it's still not too stiff even in the sportiest mode the adaptive dampers do a fantastic job in this car yeah but the the seats don't help with that they are they're very firm yes they are very i like them and you can still get like rice bucket versions in this i wouldn't really recommend them because these are pretty stiff already yeah but i mean race car seats are cool yeah yeah i like these seats because like bad back firm seats i think i think it's a good fit no massages we don't even have plastic down here we don't have cooled no i know it's only heated i wouldn't have a heated steering wheel this is base spec yuri let's get you into this basement i don't think it's basement because i think this alcater steering wheel is a little higher up on the options i would like to talk about what this really is in this color race start ah so it auto up shifted the first one but not the second one yeah that's kind of funny you tricked me mercedes you tricked me if you do get the actual zero to 60 time it would be in the mid high four second range which is very good a little bit slower than the audi on paper but feel wise this feels faster so jacob tell me what is this car as i go through cliche corner okay so this is the most look at me i bought a mercedes you could possibly get although the base model of this in yellow i would argue is even more than that however this in the 35 in yellow is just look at me i bought a mercedes but it delivers it does but still at the same time it's like one of their cheapest cars and you bought on the brightest color well they don't offer that many cool colors like sometimes you'll get a bright color this one you can also get in rose gold metallic which i think is amazing interesting but i mean i drive a yellow car like this this suits the yellowness of the car yeah and i get why you like it because you have a prowler yeah that second shift is violent every time it's cool like oh like see it deserves that yellow if it's just like my prowler just got the hard shift yellow just like your prowler he got it into the video one more zinger for 2021 so looks wise the front end does not have the pan americana grill that the cla45 had yeah it's got the line across which is kind of old-school which i kind of like i like this more than the pin grille too and then the headlights have a nice clean design yeah i like them the line of the top line at the bottom but mercedes kind of stuck in the fact that if it's like dusk it'll like just push you to full headlight mode you can't like run your drl's a little late so if you want to take like a nice photo at night if it just like chill in there it'll be tricky and from the side we have the perfect wheels for this car yeah from all the specs on this like you kind of gotta get those wheels especially with like all the blackouts trim you have around the thing yeah it just looks really really good on this car and what would be the wheel trick where i do this so that the front loses traction and then the back i actually kicked it around and came around but then i got some like warnings that the brakes were not happy and stuff but it can kind of do donuts technically and we've already done a lot of ice driving with this at the amg winter academy stuff with the 45 45 yes but i'm just saying we've drifted the cla chassis which was amazing it was so much fun and more on that fun stuff this is a seven speed dual clutch it shifts way faster or at least it feels and sounds faster than that s3 like that's quick and that sound pretty damn good downshift and again we get some pop pops which is great the audi didn't get anything they were the most pathetic pops and even though i'm technically over pops technically i actually came over pops these pops are pretty they're pretty good and then i was looking at the old m235i xdrive video you know which would be pretty much a competitor with this okay that had good backfires too okay like it was good like this and the m235i better than the s3 i think yeah i really just didn't like that m235i but we do have pumped in audio yes it is pumped in through the speakers but the tone of it is actually pretty decent and the actual exhaust does make those crackles from the outside as well let's take a listen from the outside so overall the sound experience the driving experience is really good in this like i definitely prefer this to the s3 yeah and then the exhaust tips back there that we got the sound out of are pretty cool they're like it's got lines going across and like a big oval thing and then like the round tip in the middle yeah technically it's disconnected i should fail it but i like that it's a circle so i'm gonna give it a conditional pass yeah it looks sick but at first i thought you were talking about the most protruding part of the back end the bumperettes yeah no that's not the exhaust tips that's the damn bumperettes they're huge yeah i mean like whatever it looks like whatever they look horrible it looks like you can unscrew it you can even see them on the rear view camera like that's the first thing you see that stuff does not bother me it just looks ridiculous i don't know everybody uh go on some mercedes forums and see how easily you can unbolt those i recommend doing it avoiding your warranty and just deleting it and then having to repaint the whole rear bumper i literally own a car with bumper reds yeah then the bum most bumpery head bump riots ever it's actually called a mustache on your car dude this car is just i just want to keep ripping it like it's actually fun to drive you want to use the paddles it's engaging yes and considering it's a 35 like man yeah we love the 45 when we drove it last year but then one thing this doesn't have that the cla45 did have is drift mode yeah because this is 4matic not 4matic plus yeah but the all-wheel drive system is really good we are also missing race mode so the maximum mode is s plus or plus okay and then we also have the track pace app which you can connect to your phone i think a couple years ago in like the cla 35 it's like it'll update soon with the drag racing video for telemetry you could record from your phone still this many years later cannot do it i didn't expect them to do it yeah you know toto it's unacceptable you can't do this michael where's my track pace well that's actually a pretty good uh accidental reference okay but back to this car we do have the nice steering wheel buttons that we still have on all amg's i love these uh we can still customize everything press these little lcd buttons they change absolutely love these buttons probably the best in the industry but what we don't have is radar cruise lane keep on here no we don't because it's a driver spec now you can get it and get the options you should have got the options you can also option 360 cameras where this only has the reverse camera but it has the full radar but this camera quality is so good that like compared to a lot of the other luxury brands and kind of luxury brands we've driven and like just even like porsches and audis this is the best and anyone who doesn't have cameras this good in the next four years shouldn't be allowed to sell cars in the united states and back to the actual suspension it's really really good amgs are typically on the stiffer side and this is one of those but it's still not too stiff even in the sportiest mode the adaptive dampers do a fantastic job in this car yeah but the the seats don't help with that they are they're very firm yes they are very i like them and you can still get like rice bucket versions in this i wouldn't really recommend them because these are pretty stiff already yeah but i mean race car seats are cool yeah yeah i like these seats because like bad back firm seats i think i think it's a good fit no massages we don't even have plastic down here we don't have cooled no i know it's only heated i wouldn't have a heated steering wheel this is base spec yuri let's get you into this basement i don't think it's basement because i think this alcater steering wheel is a little higher up on the options i would like to talk about what this really is in this color race start ah so it auto up shifted the first one but not the second one yeah that's kind of funny you tricked me mercedes you tricked me if you do get the actual zero to 60 time it would be in the mid high four second range which is very good a little bit slower than the audi on paper but feel wise this feels faster so jacob tell me what is this car as i go through cliche corner okay so this is the most look at me i bought a mercedes you could possibly get although the base model of this in yellow i would argue is even more than that however this in the 35 in yellow is just look at me i bought a mercedes but it delivers it does but still at the same time it's like one of their cheapest cars and you bought on the brightest color well they don't offer that many cool colors like sometimes you'll get a bright color this one you can also get in rose gold metallic which i think is amazing interesting but i mean i drive a yellow car like this this suits the yellowness of the car yeah and i get why you like it because you have a prowler yeah that second shift is violent every time it's cool like oh like see it deserves that yellow if it's just like my prowler just got the hard shift yellow just like your prowler he got it into the video one more zinger for 2021 so looks wise the front end does not have the pan americana grill that the cla45 had yeah it's got the line across which is kind of old-school which i kind of like i like this more than the pin grille too and then the headlights have a nice clean design yeah i like them the line of the top line at the bottom but mercedes kind of stuck in the fact that if it's like dusk it'll like just push you to full headlight mode you can't like run your drl's a little late so if you want to take like a nice photo at night if it just like chill in there it'll be tricky and from the side we have the perfect wheels for this car yeah from all the specs on this like you kind of gotta get those wheels especially with like all the blackouts trim you have around the thing yeah it just looks really really good on this car and what would be the continental recommended tire for the look at me i'm driving a yellow mercedes car the sport contact 6 or the viking contact 7 in the winter if you experience actual wintry conditions you're not in florida you know everybody watch our winter driving experience video it's got low views but it was actually like my favorite video to do film and drive experience ever we had like the most fun yeah that is that is peak the straight pipes if you're a fan of us you'll like that video yes okay body lines we've got the cla 45 style newer style mercedes body lines where it's not as like crispy and perfect as older ones but it still does look good you're not going to see as much because of this color it's kind of a very non-metallic paint but i still do really like like this is a cool color like they would never offer this on an s-class oh god no no but for this like it makes perfect sense because there was that old like cl what's the two-door one that was that came in yellow that i think was like the last mercedes to have a manual oh the uh slk like 320 or whatever it was like it suits that car it suits this car it's a great color it's a fun color but i disagree and then the windows are frameless on this model because coupe so that's fine yes luxury things you have no issues with that no i don't care about it i mean it's a very windy day today it's a little sketchy but and then from the back view pretty okay tail lights and then to open the trunk we actually have to flip the mercedes logo like a volkswagen and that's where the reverse camera hides so it's always nice and clean cool diffuser in the middle the diffuser is nice overall looks wise freaking love it it is great so would you rather drive a yellow cla 35 or that silver s3 uh i would actually rather drive this just because it's more fun even in yellow yeah you'd be a yellow cart dude because of how fun this car is yeah i mean i've been driving like a bit of a d-bag in this car on the highway because it's actually really fun all right so now weaving here and there but yeah good to hear okay how about moving on to the interior we have the last gen mercedes infotainment so we have that touchpad trackpad thing but then we can use touchscreen on our infotainment yeah we have android auto apple carplay really high-res reverse camera the infotainment is pretty good nothing's changed except it's gonna be like the new s-class in the future probably yeah i'm all right with it i mean not my favorite i think i still like bmw systems more i agree but like hard buttons for climate in 2022 like yeah and these vents are always still nice we have gloss black up here a little bit of gloss black down here that you spilled a bunch of coffee on doing your donuts uh all the trim and everything up here looks pretty decent i really like it i like that i like the amg graphic thing that's a nice nice option and then we have ambient lighting too so like i put it to yellow obviously obviously you can't low on yellow you can't have like purple moon or whatever it is oh yeah yeah what's the what's the miami uh sunset that's next-gen oh yeah yeah okay and then these vents i showed it to an account on instagram called secret buttholes oh yeah and he's like you know what that is definitely a secret butthole 100 it didn't didn't i say that in like the e-class i said a long time ago but but like this now there's an account well it's been around for a while because secret buttholes is a totally good account this is definitely butt holes look i could touch four buttholes at once and then some fun tests cup holder tests if it's a small cup just fine visors i don't think they'll pass i don't think so either three two one no fail fail and then we do have a wireless charger down here and that's about it yeah pretty chill car really like it we should probably get to the price well it starts at 52 100 canadian and this one is 66 190 overall driving experience the looks comparing it to its biggest competitors the s3 and the m235i this kinda has to be my pick this is my favorite out of that bunch for sure shocking because you know what we looked at and we're like oh i'm really that sure
