NEW! Mercedes-AMG C43 REVIEW POV Test Drive on AUTOBAHN & ROAD by AutoTopNL

**The Liberty B by Mercedes-Benz: A Sensible and Cool Estate Car**

We recently had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Liberty B, a Mercedes-Benz estate car that checks all the right boxes. With its V6 engine producing 262 horsepower, this car is definitely not for the faint of heart. However, unlike some other high-performance Mercedes models, such as the C63, it has a more subtle and understated approach to things.

**A More Civilized Approach**

One of the standout features of the Liberty B is its sound. The V6 engine produces a beautiful, deep note that's reminiscent of a luxury sedan rather than a performance car. This makes for a much more civilized driving experience, especially in urban environments where loud noises can be a real nuisance. In contrast, the C63 has a much more boisterous and attention-grabbing sound.

**A More Subtle Design**

The Liberty B's design is also worth noting. While it may not have the same level of aggression as some other Mercedes models, it still looks very cool and sophisticated. The styling is more understated than some other estate cars on the market, with clean lines and a sleek body that belies its performance capabilities. One notable feature is the lack of huge wheel arches, which gives the Liberty B a more refined and elegant look.

**A Comparison to Other Cars**

When it comes to comparing the Liberty B to other cars in its class, such as the Audi S4 or BMW 340i, it's clear that this car stands out from the crowd. While the Audi S4 may have a similar level of performance to the Liberty B, it lacks the character and drama that makes this car so compelling. The 340i, on the other hand, is a very smooth and refined drive, but it can't match the Liberty B's unique blend of performance and style.

**The 9G-TRONIC Gearbox: A Letdown**

One area where the Liberty B falls short is in its gearbox. The 9G-TRONIC transmission can feel slow and laggy at times, especially when shifting gears or accelerating hard. This can make for a slightly disjointed driving experience, especially on the road.

**A Fun and Quick Drive**

However, despite this gearbox issue, the Liberty B still manages to be a lot of fun to drive. With 262 horsepower on tap, it's quick off the line and can accelerate from 0-60mph in just 12.5 seconds. It also has a top speed limited at 250km/h (155mph), which is relatively tame compared to some other performance cars.

**A Cool Feature: The AMG Driver Select**

One of the standout features of the Liberty B is its AMG Driver Select system, which allows drivers to choose from three different driving modes. This feature adds a level of drama and excitement to the car's performance capabilities, making it feel like a true AMG model.

**A Comparison to Other Performance Cars**

When compared to other performance cars on the market, such as the Audi S4 or BMW M340i, the Liberty B holds its own. While it may not have the same level of performance as some of these cars, it has a unique blend of character and style that sets it apart from the crowd.

**The Verdict**

Overall, we think that the Liberty B is one of the coolest cars on the market right now. Its combination of performance capabilities and understated design make it a standout model in its class. While the gearbox can be a bit slow at times, this is largely outweighed by the car's many other strengths. If you're looking for a sensible and cool estate car that still packs a punch, then the Liberty B is definitely worth considering.

**Technical Specifications**

* Engine: 3.0-liter V6

* Power: 262 horsepower

* Torque: N/A

* Transmission: 9G-TRONIC automatic

* Drive: Rear-wheel drive

* Top speed: Limited at 250km/h (155mph)

* 0-60mph: 12.5 seconds

**Conclusion**

The Liberty B by Mercedes-Benz is a unique and compelling estate car that checks all the right boxes. Its combination of performance capabilities, understated design, and character make it a standout model in its class. While there may be some minor drawbacks to this car, we think that they are largely outweighed by its many strengths. If you're looking for a sensible and cool estate car that still packs a punch, then the Liberty B is definitely worth considering.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enquite a cool spec today black-on-black it's sensible and cool massively hard cobalt see warning green look there's our friend but they are fake it's somewhere here I believe you what's up ladies and gentlemen and welcome to this POV review by out etapa now my name is Max and today we've got the facelifted version of one of our favourite cars the Mercedes AMG c43 estate and well we've got quite a cool spec today black on black obsidian black as the colour with these beautiful 19-inch AMG wheels some AMG brakes and yeah just a very very cool car I would say and a very cool car to have like as a family car so yeah I'm quite excited to drive it it has had a little power upgrade some other upgrades so I'm going to show you all that then we're going to take it for a drive along this road do a zero to 100 kilometer our measurement take it to the altar man and have a good time but before we begin don't forget to subscribe and hit the notification bell to receive updates when we upload a new video loop and follow us on Instagram at the top and out all right so the facelifted c-class has been around for like a year but we just didn't get to it so the changes at the front new headlight units new front bumper as I said gorgeous 19-inch AMG wheels a bi turbo badge right there we've got everything in black as you can see tinted windows it is a very cool car although I would make this black as well at the rear a big change it used to have these exhausts tips that were completely in the bumpers almost in the shape of this piece right here and then there was a little divider in the centre but now we've got quad exhaust pipe for tips which looks really good but they are fake because there's just one pipe behind it I don't know if you guys can see that with a diffuser but I do like the look of this I think it's a little old-school and I think it fits really well on the c-class and I love this estate car I think it's such a cool car all right so let's take a look at the engine we're another big change has happened there's it's somewhere here I believe yep there it is so there is the 3 litre v6 bi-turbo it used to have 367 horsepower and 520 Newton meters it now has 390 horsepower so a little upgrade it has the same amount of torque 520 new two meters and they achieved the power increased by fitting some new bigger turbos on there which also means that the maximum torque arrives around 500 rpm later now compared to the previous one there's our friend or SEMA course face yeah so that's it a little change a little upgrade for the 43 in here we've got these gorgeous AMG seats which are super supportive but they are massively hard so they look really cool and I have to admit that when I look at the second-hand c43 so I always look for these seats but to have them to sit in them for longer periods of times it is quite hardcore but they look awesome so in the end I think I would recommend getting them because they just look so much cooler so another change we've got for the new c-class and the new 43 is this steering wheel which is awesome one of the bests out there with a little center marking they also ditched the old analog dials well it's an option on a new c-class this digital version but they just crammed it into the old housing but it does look very good and we have this new screen up there which we will use to get ah this is cool track page I don't think I've ever shown you this I'll do a quick look of this system it's an option and it basically means that you can get all kinds of track and drag info on your screen and even on your head of this play so you can get a little track map you can get lap times Delta x all in your head of display and of course on there as well but let me show you guys so you can select all these tracks like spa the Hockenheimring Nurburgring GP nürburgring nordschleife ER nürburgring Nordschleife a bridge to gantry Laguna Seca which is really cool and although I think it's a little bit misplaced in the 43 because I don't believe that this is that sporty and that hardcore I think you should use this for other things namely transporting your family your dogs and your crap at high speed in a very cool car this new dial is also pretty cool the Supersport dial with a big rev counter big AMG logo and some more info on the sides looks pretty sweet so we'll take it for a drive and we'll see what it's like and if there have been any more improvements they didn't change anything on the chassis because that was just fine as it was okay so we'll do a zero to 100 measurement with our GPS performance meter will go to Sport Plus mode and ESP sport mode as well and I will do a little break launch and see what we can get jerks forward so it's a little bit of a fake launch control I would say and that's a five second zero to 100 we'll do another one come on c43 4.9 okay so it should do 4.8 and we did a 4.7 earlier so it does what it should and it's even a tenth quicker than Mercedes say because the coupe a and the saloon do 4.7 seconds to 100 and this estate takes 4.8 if you want one of these drag is by the way you can check out our store our brand store link is in the top right corner for this GPS performance meter with this app so it's actually a little books and you get this app to control it alright driving the c43 as I said I don't think you should view this like a c63 light it is more like a like a comfortable cool loud people carrier and we've got the performance exhaust today so if we rev it a little bit you have a beautiful beautiful v6 sound it's just a lot more civilized than a c63 it's a little bit more under the radar the styling as well it doesn't have those huge wheel arches it's all as loud as a c63 of course it's just it's just a little bit more subtle and it's not meant to be a super sports estate car so what should you compare this with well an Audi s4 or maybe a bmw m3 40i cars like that and I have to say that we haven't driven the m3 40i yet the new one but we have driven the 340i which is better than this on some level but this is better than an s4 so there are some points where this car feels like it it really under performs like the gearbox the 9g tronic which is just a little bit dim with that sometimes it can feel a little bit slow especially all the time especially on the down shifts and the rev limiter is actually before the red line on the rev counter because there it is that is super weird because I would say that it's quite easy to fix that or to make it fit to make it work but it doesn't I find that a bit weird what I do like about this car though is the amount of character it has it looks freaking awesome that's the liberty' by the way 262 gold does an hour hold the speedo so it's limited at 250 global power but you can get AMG drivers back and then you can get a race top speed but but as I said it has a loads of character the sound is super cool I think it looks awesome it's just that gearbox that is a bit of a letdown I'll demonstrate okay so I'm going to pull my pedal really hard so I hope you guys can hear and see when I pull my pedal there's just a delay that's too big up shifts as well there's a delay there too and I have to say that even you know the old 340i with that set of HP that gearbox is so much better so it's a little bit of a weird I don't know it feels a little bit old the sound is great though and I think it and I think it actually moves I mean it's pretty damn quick it does twelve and a half seconds one hundred to two hundred which is faster than a g63 which is pretty cool and that's the limiter again so yeah that limiter is a big shape but anyhow still fun so I'm going to switch back to automatic code for the gearbox and that actually does improve it a lot because you don't really notice the fact that it lags a little bit you know when your paddle shift when you drive this car regularly it's okay it's it's fine it's not as good as the setup in a BMW but it's it's okay it is however really the only thing that that lets it down a little bit if you look at the competition the Audi s4 scores okay great you know across the board but it doesn't really stand out it doesn't really have anything that it's really really good at it used to be you know how D s and RS that were the fast Quattro cars but this car is 4matic as well so if there there's not really that that unique selling point anymore I believe on an Audi s4 this has a lot more character and if you compare it to a BMW 340i which I'm going to do because I have driven that I haven't driven the m3 40 I then I would say that the drivetrain over 340 I is a lot smoother it feels a lot more civilized and maybe even a little bit more modern although it is you know a previous debt car but I don't think that unless you get that M Performance Exhaust the power and sound kids I think that's the only way that 340i could match this car for character for drama and I think that is sort of why I love this car so much because it is a very sensible estate car that you can do everything with but it's it also has that little edge of drama that little raw edge to it which I absolutely love I think this is one of the coolest cars out there and especially if you get it you know in this black or black it it's very aggressive but look as aggressive as a c63 it's it really is the bridge between all those bland four-cylinder C glasses and the crazy AMG s it has a little bit of both its sensible and cool and I think that's awesome so that's it guys I hope you enjoyed this video you can subscribe by clicking the big button right here you can also check out this video or go check out this playlist thanks for watching and I'll see you at the next one rightquite a cool spec today black-on-black it's sensible and cool massively hard cobalt see warning green look there's our friend but they are fake it's somewhere here I believe you what's up ladies
