LGR - Hotline Miami Special Edition Box

The LGR Thing: A Collector's Box for Hotline Miami Fans

As viewers of my channel may have noticed, there has been a recurring question among them regarding a specific box that has made appearances in several of my more recent videos. The box in question is indeed a special edition collector's set, specifically designed for the fans of Hotline Miami 1 and 2. This particular box was obtained through Gamer's Edition, a site that focuses on putting boxes to independent PC games, as opposed to subscription services like Indiebox.

Gamer's Edition sent this limited-edition box to approximately 2161 fans worldwide, with my own copy being number 1072. The cost of this exclusive collector's set is $60, a price that was paid by the time I ordered it in March 2015. It took about a year for the box to arrive at my doorstep, and when it did, I was more than satisfied with its presentation.

The box itself looks great, and I am very happy with the way it turned out. For those who are not familiar with Gamer's Edition or their unique approach, let me elaborate on what makes this collector's set special. Unlike other independent PC games that may be released without any additional packaging, Gamer's Edition puts a lot of thought into creating these exclusive boxes for fans. This one-of-a-kind box is designed specifically for the Hotline Miami series, and I am thrilled to have received it.

The creator of my channel has expressed their love for the first game in the series. The creator finds the game to be very close to perfection, with a gameplay experience that they thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. They appreciate how well the game conveys its message of violence and revenge without getting too caught up in gratuitous content. It is an experience that feels like it's just right for what the game set out to achieve.

The second installment in the series also received praise from the channel creator, although they felt that it didn't quite have the same impact as the first game. There were some areas where the game tried to push boundaries but ended up feeling off-putting to them. Despite this, they still appreciated seeing their favorite games packaged together and released in a boxed edition.

The exclusive nature of Gamer's Edition boxes has sparked interest among fans. Unlike Indiebox or other subscription services that release new games every month, Gamer's Edition puts out these limited-edition collector's sets on an as-needed basis. This creates a sense of exclusivity among those who manage to get their hands on them and allows the creators of these special editions to connect with dedicated fans.

A Special Offer for Fans

The channel creator has expressed their excitement about receiving this Hotline Miami collector's box set and sharing it with their audience. It is clear that they are passionate about independent games and believe in the value of supporting unique creators who put a lot of effort into making each game a special experience.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enGreetings and welcome to an LGR Thing. And you may have noticed this box in thebackground of several of my more recent videos. In fact, I know quite a few of you noticedbecause you've asked me about itor pointed it out in the commentsand sent me messages wondering:Where could you get it? Is this a Hotline Miami box?Well, yes. I'm happy to saythis is indeed the special editionHotline Miami 1 and 2 collector's box setby Gamer's Edition,a site that is a little differentfrom others that I've kind of covered in the past thatput boxes to independent PC games,as opposed to something like Indiebox, which is a subscription service. They send you things every month. This is a one-off special editionreally niche productmade for the people, the gamers, the collectors, whoever, that really wants these games. There's a limited amount of them madefor each one of these games to–that they're trying to get done.2161 of these Hotline Miami boxes.I've got number 1072 here. And this costs $60,back when I ordered itin March of 2015.It took about a year to get here, and it got here.It looks great. I am very happy with this. And I'm very happy with these games.I'm a huge fan of the Hotline Miami series of games.Especially the first one. I just think–I mean, it's very close to being just like a perfect game. For what it set out to be and whatI got from it, I just had no complaints. It was wonderful.I loved every minute of its over-the-top,gory, challenging in many ways gameplay. It was a wonderful game. The second one was great, too.It just didn't quite grab me in the same way.I have some weird issues with some of theplaces that it tried to go, but other than that,I was really happy to see that they weregetting this in a boxed form becausewhile there were other releases that you could get, like say on the consoles, there were no physical editionsfor the PC version, andthat's of course the one to play, if you ask me.\"Press R to restart.\" Yes, indeed. That's a very common message in these games. You know, I kinda wish there was alittle bit more going on here in the back, but it's artistic in its own way.And then, of course, the front therewith its 50 Blessings logo going on.That's just– that's really neat. And then it's got some quotes here:\"Do you like hurting other people?\"Well, yeah, probably. At least in this game. And so, you know, whatever. Things from press.I will say that as cool as this outer sleeve is,I'm rather... I don't know, kindalet down by the actual box itself.I mean, this just like your generic, like...anything-could-be-in-here router kind of box.I was hoping for something a little more specializedlike I see in certain other boxesfor collector's editions and things. But that's okay because the contentsare really what it's all about here.Especially this. This is a cassette tape albumcontaining...soundtrack selections from these games. In fact, I think they're all on here from both games.I *love* the soundtrack. It's actuallywhat's been playing in the background herefaintly.Give it a listen if you have it.One of the single best reasons toplay these games is the soundtrack. You know, you'll come for the soundtrackand stay for the game, trust me.You stick around, it's worth it.And then right here,we have another really big meaty portionof what's in this package. And that is... the games. In this really neat little case here.I like this. It's, um, kind of disturbing. It's filled with artwork that makes a lotof sense with the rest of the game.Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number.Love the art style. This is just a sleeve, of course,so we get thiscoming apart here, revealing more of that kind of artin a DVD case. So, we've got, uh...some trailers and things, some like game kind of–almost reminds me of like a press kit, this whole thing really. So you got trailers and stuff right here.Um... I'll show this here in a moment.Hotline Miami 1 and 2 on this disc. And then we have the Notebook. This is really cool. It's got a lot of stufffrom the games. You know, the characters you meet, just all sorts of artwork. I mean, just really cool stuff. And that scribbly sort of odd art stylethat the game makes excellent use of.It's all in here.I like it.This is just cool.Inside of this little slip here, we havesome cards. These are actually all musicians that didsome of the music for the game. And they ended up as, well, cameo characters in the games. So that's pretty cool.Nice little way to give some extra propsto people that made amazing tunes.I mean, it's cards.*pfft* You knowThere's a lot of cards and stuff stuck in packs like these.Indiebox does cards and things.I'm not a really big fan ofcollector's cards at all, but you know, some people are. That's fine. They're in here. And yes, even more down in the bottom of the box here. So, we got, uh...this little bit of artwork which is pretty cool, I think. It's, you know, got thiscut out part here and... yeah. You got, uh, people who shall not be namedright there.Just kind of an interesting little–almost like a postcard, but not really, because you've got more of the spriteartwork here on the back. And then, let's see here. This...it's awesome, okay? It's pretty much a graphic novel, right?I mean, I guess it is.Graphic novel, comic book, you know, whatever you wanna call it,of Hotline Miami 2.And so, there's an awful lot of story in here.In fact, it tells you quite a bit morethan what maybe you'll get from the game. And while it does follow a lot of it,I mean, it's not exactly it.I mean, you get some extra side storystuff here, but it definitely all relates. And it's really cool after having played the gamegoing through here and seeing sort of anothertranslation/expansion of what's been going on.It's a very high quality book, too, other than the fact that it's stapled together.I would have preferred something bound. But you know, whatever.Uh... I...This just whole packageis really neat.I mean, cards...these things...and other stuff. Whatever.Honestly, though, the cassette tape! The cassette tape and the games on CD–well, DVD, I suppose–I mean, this is all I really wanted right here. But to get all this other stuffand then a cool box on top of that,I mean, really cool package.I'm happy with this.It was $60, which, you know, is fine.I mean, it's two games and a lot of extra cool stuff.I wasn't too disappointedwith the price, to be honest, butit took a really long time to get here. And–you can't buy 'em now.Like, they're gone! They're sold out, and I guess that's it.Like that... that sucks!I hesitated to even do this video because I wanted to, like, show you something that you could get, you know?Like, I don't wanna just be like,\"Hey, look at this cool thing you can't have.\"But, then again, I guess a lot of my videosare like that when it comes down to it.Oddware and such. But, yeah. They're trying to do–or they tried, rather–to do some other boxes for things like\"Kerbal Space Program,\" \"Papers, Please.\"I backed those as well, or ordered them,But if they don't reach their minimumamount of orders to go into production,it just doesn't happen. Nobody gets it. So...While this one went through, this got enough orders to go into production, those others didn't. I would love to havea boxed \"Kerbal\" and \"Papers, Please,\" butwho knows if that'll ever happen.Maybe Indiebox will get on that someday.Or maybe these guys will comearound to do some more stuff.Because I think after this, pretty much all they've done is like, um...prints, like lithographs and maps, but...This is the only game box, as far as I know,to have come out of Gamer's Editionso far.So, uh... yeah, man!Go check 'em out and maybe they'll dosome more in the future. I don't know.I can't promise that. But anyway, thank you very much for watching.\n"
