the most active the jailbreak community has been in a long time so in this video we're gonna be talking about everything that has been released recently and also the iOS 12 jailbreak we're gonna talk all about the iOS 12 jailbreak the exploits and also when we can actually expect the jailbreak to be released now if you missed by iOS 11-point 4.1 a jailbreak tutorial on Wednesday make sure you with stuff in the cards and down in the description below alright so now let's move on to the iOS 12 jailbreak discussion and everything that's been released recently so everything began with Brandon Assad and his iOS 12 point one point two kernel exploit that he released on Tuesday called voucher swap and this specific exploit was based off of sorry my bad another security researcher it was based off of his bug so as you can see right here brandon azad did post the full exploit and write-up on project zeros official blog and it's quite detailed I mean it's really something that any security researcher would love to read and learn from so anyways on that same day Tim Starr surprisingly released his iOS 11 point for point one exploit named treadmill so we got to kernel exploits for two different versions I was twelve point one point two and iOS eleven point four point one which previously didn't really have any kernel exploits that would lead to a jailbreak on the same day just within like an hour of each other it was insane and like I said both of these exploits definitely helped a lot with a jailbreak and that was proven by coolstar who released an updated version of Elektra for iOS eleven point four point one less than 24 hours after the exploits were released and you can see the tweet says Elektra one point two point zero is available for all devices on iOS eleven through eleven point four point one dev account not required and then it lays out which versions use which exploit so iowa's eleven through eleven point one point two use async wake on a nine and newer devices running iOS eleven point two through eleven point four point one that uses the voucher swap exploit and then for a seven and eight eight devices running iOS eleven point two through eleven 4.1 uses the thread mill exploit from a tin star so yeah both of those exploits were used in this updated version of Elektra and that was when we got our first fool jailbreak for iOS eleven point four and eleven point four point one and then later on that day pone two own did update uncover to support iOS eleven point four and eleven point four point one as well using both of these same exploits and after that was released that's when I actually decided to make my tutorial video on iOS eleven point four point one the jailbreak for eleven point four point one just because I personally prefer uncover over Elektra just for stability and just the whole substrate issues but you may have had a different experience you may have a different opinion if I just personally like to use uncover over electro now both Elektra and uncover have received several updates since the initial release on Elektra is currently on version one point two point seven at the time of recording this at least and uncover is on version 3.0 beta eight now one issue that I've stressed a lot on Twitter is that the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 5s were not supported initially and actually for a while on either Elektra or uncover running iOS eleven point four or eleven point four point one it would just crash the application would crash on Elektra and uncover the exploit would just fail it wouldn't it would just reboot your device and you won't be able to jailbreak your five s or six now unfortunately there is not a fix for uncovered just yet but version one point two point five Elektra does fix it and make these devices compatible thanks to Tim Starr's extra work so big props the Tim Stauffer coming through when we weren't really expecting them to first releasing the exploit and then helping out getting these devices working on Elektra alright so now that you guys have a background and pretty much everything that was released and you know what went on with those two jail breaks let's move on to talking about the iOS 12 through 12 point one point two jailbreak and the latest developments so just yesterday and be released yet another kernel exploit for iOS twelve point one point two and below and this is the one we talked about a while back that was fixed in twelve point one point three but we just didn't know if he was going to be releasing it or not wasn't really very clear he said he was but then a lot of time went on and we didn't see it so we just kind of figured that he wasn't going to release it but in fact he did release it just yesterday now the release of this exploit is great especially when we combine it with the fact that Brandon Azad also released a separate exploit for iOS 12 point one point two that's two kernel exploits that you know seems like good news and a lot of people think that since you know we got these exploits and then the 11 point for eleven point four point one jailbreak came out very quick a lot of people are thinking that's gonna happen with the iOS 12 jailbreak as well but that's just not the case as much as I wish it was as much as I wish that we can have an iOS 12 jailbreak because we have these exploits now it's just not that easy so we had the exploits now but now security researchers need to find a way to get past core trust which is something new in iOS 12 AMF ID and also the remount now as you can see on the screen here core trust is a really interesting topic because it was just introduced with iOS 12 and it's a big barrier to getting a jailbreak a full jailbreak on iOS 12 now I'm gonna link this article down in the description below because I think it's a very interesting read even if you're not a security researcher basically it explains what core trust is and why it's a big hurdle for a jailbreak on iOS 12 but if you don't want to read it essentially it's just a mechanism that prevents the fake signing technique that we've used in jailbreaks in the past so basically once we get past core trust and also the remount that is when we will get an iOS 12 point one point two and below jailbreak but again like I said this is gonna take some time it's not going to be super quick like the iOS lemon jailbreak was this is iOS 12 it's a whole different B so I would not expect a jailbreak for iOS 12 within the next couple of weeks I would say at least a couple months before we see the iOS 12 jailbreak now is it possible to get it before a couple months yes but I'm just saying you shouldn't expect it within like next week or a couple weeks from now I think it's going to take minimum of a month maximum of you know who knows how long it's just really hard to predict because a lot of times security researchers and hackers and developers don't really share a ton of information on social media as far as their progress so it's hard to know at this point but just know that people are working on a pwned own did confirm that he's working on the iOS 12 jailbreak I'm sure cool stars working on the iOS 12 jailbreak and who knows how many other people out there are as well so please don't ask for an ETA on the iOS 12 jailbreak because I don't know anything I do know I will share on Twitter as long as
