iPadOS 18 Beta 3 - HUGE Quality of Life Updates!

**Quality of Life Updates in iPadOS 18**

One of the notable features that were introduced in iPadOS 18 beta is the new photo selection tool, which is similar to the categories and albums selected by Apple for the users. This feature allows users to easily organize their photos and access them quickly. The author of the video noticed this feature and was excited about it, as it made navigating the Photos app much easier.

In addition to the new photo selection tool, the author also pointed out that in Control Center, the icons are now more prominent, making it easier for users to interact with them. Furthermore, when tapping on the Connectivity settings, arrows were added to make it easier to access additional information. The author appreciated this change, as it eliminated the need for long presses and made it feel more instant.

Another notable feature that was introduced in iPadOS 18 beta is the new animation in the Control Center settings section. When accessing Control Center for the first time, a small animation appears at the top to guide users through the process of finding the Control Center. The author found this change to be a welcome addition, as it made the experience feel more polished and user-friendly.

**TVOS Insights**

One of the most exciting features that was introduced in iPadOS 18 beta is the new TVOS insights feature, which allows users to see who is currently appearing on screen in real-time. When tapping on the "Insights" button at the bottom left corner of the screen, users can see a list of actors and guest appearances, including character names and other relevant information. The author was impressed by this feature, as it provided a new level of insight into the TV shows they were watching.

The author also pointed out that the Insights feature is not yet perfect, as some guests may be missing from the list at times. However, they acknowledged that the feature has the potential to become even more useful and comprehensive with future updates.

**Battery Life and Performance**

In terms of performance, the author reported that battery life on iPadOS 18 has been greatly improved compared to previous versions of iPadOS. Specifically, when using a USB-C accessory, such as an SSD, the battery life was reduced from what would have been expected (9 hours and 45 minutes). However, when not using any accessories, the battery life was still impressive at 8 hours.

The author also noted that they were able to get 10 hours of hardcore work done on their iPad without experiencing any significant battery drain. This is a welcome change compared to previous versions of iPadOS, which often struggled with battery life towards the end of use.

**Conclusion**

Overall, the author was pleased with the updates and features introduced in iPadOS 18 beta. While there were no drastic changes or new features that surprised them, they appreciated the many quality-of-life improvements that made navigating the operating system easier and more efficient. The author also looked forward to seeing what future updates would bring, particularly Apple's rumored AI-powered features.

Let us know in the comments below if you have updated to iPadOS 18 beta 3 and if there are any features that we haven't mentioned in this video. We will continue to monitor the updates and provide more information as it becomes available.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enso everyone Apple released iPad OS 18 beta 3 to all developers to try out and to test out and we got an abundance of new quality of life updates that were much much needed to really help with the experience overall with iPad OS 18 so in this video we're going to go over every single change but before we get started be sure to subscribe to the channel let's get into it everybody well right everyone let's get right into this video and let's go into our settings and see exactly what the build number is and we're dealing with when it comes to iPad OS 18 beta 3 so if we go into our iPad OS 18 settings we're looking at the 22A 5307 F moniker in terms of what the build number is and last time it was also the F moniker but we are still getting a beta 3 so this still counts as a beta 3 from Apple and then when it comes to the size of the actual update if you go to the photos I did take a screenshot you can see that we're dealing with about 1.4 gigs for the actual size of the update so make sure you have at least 3 gigs of open storage on our iPad in order to get this installed and installed correctly but when it comes to what's new we got a bunch of new quality of life updates like I mentioned in the beginning of the video that really kind of help the day-to-day when it comes to usability on the iPad because when we got the new iPad OS 18 software the first beta there was a little bit of a learning curve it was a little bit almost too different from what you got with iPad OS 17 but let's get into this video now the very first thing you might notice is that down here compared to my other videos I actually had the Apple Mail app and the Apple calendar app and honestly the main reason I had them is because I wanted to have a uniform kind of color look when it comes to the actual iPad so now I actually switch back to the Gmail app as well as the Google Calendar app because apple is now giving thirdparty applications not every single one of them but they do have the new dark mode variation or the dark mode look so now definitely take a look at all the applications you have if you are on beta 3 there are some applications that are still not getting the dark look like you can see here Luma Fusion Affinity photo WordPress s they all do not have that dark mode look although the S one does look a little bit darker but then you do have things like Gmail Google Calendar you know chat GPT all these applications did get new updates to the color to not have that same dark mode feel and if I go to my app Library you can see that there are some other applications you can see Google Chrome got it the YouTube app got it so now there are a good amount of third party applications that have this dark mode look but take a look around with all your applications to see which one of your apps did get this new update and just to clarify this is coming from Apple and this is not a thirdparty developer thing apple is using machine learning to then change the colors and the contrast to this dark mode look versus perhaps when iPad OS 18 fully releases thirdparty developers will be able to make and decide on what the look of their dark Mode app application will be like and then to continue on with the different changes visually you do get a brand new maps logo which has a little bit more color a little bit more color pop overall maybe more saturation as well so that's something that we did notice and then secondly when it comes to the actual home screen if we actually change the wallpapers you have new Dynamic wallpapers for iPad OS as well as iOS so basically what that means is if you go to create a brand new wallpaper set if you go down to Dynamic wallpapers you'll be able to then shuffle through them automatically when it comes to iPad OS 18 so it says infused with light this wallpaper will change dynamic Al with the time or you can select a color so you can see there that even when I was looking at it it changed colors and it rotates based on a time interval and it's something that's brand new that we haven't seen before so as you can see it's already shifting different colors and different Hues which I think is really really cool so if that's something you want to get into it is there now so now let's talk about the Emoji situation so if you go to any keyboard and you go to your emojis you can actually see a few things here so the first thing you notice is that the Emojis are actually much bigger and more spread out so again this is just for you to be able to see exactly what's going on in terms of how many emojis you have and it's easier to scroll through I like this new bigger look and it's not just for the iPad this is also something that's happening on iPhones with iOS 18 so again just a little easier to find the second thing you're going to notice is that now you do have a mix of here of your most used so not only do you have your emojis but then you also have your different cutouts you created over here so these are all different cutouts that I've made in the past that are now kind of mixed into your actual emojis whereas before they were categorized separately the third thing you might notice is that there is a new mimoji tab here so this memoji section is something that we were not able to access through the emoji keyboard before whereas now you can so that's good to see and then lastly you do have a brand new search bar right there which looks a little bit different with a little bit more of a curved look overall so four new changes the Emoji SL mimoji keyboard which is nice to see the next thing I want to bring up is in the Notes application so when you first open up the notes app on beta 3 you can see this new splash screen which is improved handwright legibility so Auto refine handwriting this is something that Apple did bring up in their keynote and wasn't available right away and now we able to test it and I'm going to show you guys exactly how that works so again if you start writing in handwriting you you just write in really bad scribble handwriting which is how I'm writing you can see that in real time apple is actually using not only machine learning but it's using your actual handwriting to try to correct what it looks like but keep it in the style of your personal handwriting so you saw that that hello changed up pretty quickly if I scroll down and start to write something else like see so you can see that it's trying to figure out exactly what I'm writing and again my handwriting was very very bad there so it Mis read this word from bad to bar but overall it is able to then change the handwriting and make it a little bit more legible while keeping the essence of what your personal handwriting looks like which I think is a very cool feature so that is now live on iPad OS beta 3 so now let's get into the photos app and the first thing that you notice with the beta 3 update of the photos app is that they finally reverted back to the select button up there on the top right hand corner being the default way to actually interact whereas before when you first opened up the actual photos app it would actually just give you the search button and not the select button you would have to kind of like swipe down in order to see all of your images at once to then select multiple images which was something that again was very una Apple like to add a secondary step to something that was already much easier to do so I'm glad that Apple by default reverted back to the old way of actually interacting by putting the select button up on the top right hand corner by default and then also they blueified or made it a little bit more prominent in order to be able to search on the top right hand corner if you are still wanting to search in your actual images and then another thing that they actually improved on or fixed is that before when you would open up a individual image it would be very like zoomed out so it would kind of take up much less of the space and again it was way more rounded over here a little bit more bubbly Apple went back to the much more traditional look of iPad OS 17 now you can still make it full screen by tapping on here to go full screen and then tapping again to get all your different kind of customization icons but it is something that Apple again reverted back towards they tried a lot of new things with the photos application which again this is the time to actually try it out during the beta process but I'm glad that they went back to kind of like the old way but still mixing it in down here with the iPad OS 18 way and then another thing that I personally noticed I don't know if this was a beta 3 specific feature but down here there is a couple things that you can scroll through like being able to customize and it kind of Acts almost like the home screen icon circles because when you swipe between pages so this is your main one then you have your different ones here almost like your different categories of different favorites and albums and you know predetermined categories that Apple selected for you inside of the actual photos application so that might be new but leave a comment down below if that was released in a previous beta the next thing that I personally noticed is that in control center it actually looks a little less opaque so it's the actual icons are a little bit more prominent versus with beta 1 and beta 2 and then you tap on your connectivity settings you actually have some arrows down here make it a little bit easier to interact whereas previously even with prior iOS and iPad OS iterations you had to long press in order to actually interact with it and kind of get a little bit more information versus now you have these arrows which I do like a little bit easier so again it's a little bit more instant you don't have to long press and waste you know that half second waiting for the long press to actually take into account and then another thing that we notice with control center in the settings itself if you go to control center there's actually a little bit of an animation to let you know exactly how to actually find the control center if you are new to control center right here it's still a very empty section of the setting settings menu which is kind of weird that it has its own predetermined section in control center or in the settings app but that little animation on the top is brand new and the final thing I want to bring up is that with tvos the new version and the TV application on iPad OS insights is now a feature that is out so if I tap on here on the bottom left there is a little insights button and you can see exactly in real time which actors are showing up on the screen right now so you have Jason sedus Hannah waddingham and Jeremy Swift and you can actually tap on them to get a little bit more information on that individual character in terms of what other guest appearances they have what other characters are being played in different shows and different movies and then type right back in to your actual show and you're back and watching which is great to see and again it changes as more people show up so you can see here now Nick Muhammad is there as well as Brandon Hunt which is coach so i' love to be able to get that type of insight again great word to use for this feature set which is awesome to see so overall great new additions to iPad OS 18 from a quality of life stand Point overall and the last thing I do want to bring up is battery life and and performance and how we've been dealing with it overall battery life on iPad OS 18 for me has been great for instance if I tap on here 9 hours and 45 minutes of screen on time now yes a lot of it is this USBC accessory which is probably my SSD that's always Plugged In which shouldn't really be showing up in my opinion so this 8 hours could be skewing it a little bit but you can see that Luma Fusion I used for 8 hours and 31 minutes and we use less than 100% battery so again if I'm able to get 10 hours of Hardcore work done on my iPad that is an absolute win when it comes to iPad battery light because with my previous M1 iPad Air I actually did not have great battery life towards the end of its life I was getting maybe 3 to 4 hours of overall battery life versus now we're getting a lot more and it's becoming a little bit more efficient as well so battery life is getting much much better with iPad OS 18 but let's finish up this video so that was just about do for this video everybody like you saw there weren't any drastic feature updates or any features that came out there's no apple intelligence quite yet I'm still hoping Apple gives us that relatively soon but we did get a bunch of quality of life updates like I mentioned throughout the video that really makes it a lot easier to navigate iPad OS 18 Apple made some questionable changes on how you interact with video YouTube thinks you're going to like this video right here and if not try out this video down here and that'll just about do it I'm Fernando and I'm out everybody peaceso everyone Apple released
