The Future of PC Gaming: Intel's Rocket Lake CPUs and AMD's Competition
Intel's new Rocket Lake CPUs have arrived, bringing with them exciting news for gamers and PC enthusiasts alike. The most notable feature of these new CPUs is that they support 3.2 GHz clock speeds, with no changes to their design or architecture compared to previous generations. However, this increase in speed comes with a caveat - CPU overclocking is not supported on these new CPUs.
This means that users will need to opt for a Z590 motherboard in order to take full advantage of the Rocket Lake CPUs' capabilities. While some may be disappointed by this development, there are three main reasons why CPU overclocking is not supported on these new CPUs. Firstly, AMD has been gaining significant ground in the market with their processors, forcing Intel to squeeze every last drop of performance out of their own products. This means that the room for overclocking is likely to be reduced, even if users do opt for a more expensive Z590 motherboard.
Secondly, Intel offers a wide range of CPUs, but not all of them support overclocking in the first place. The cheaper options, which are often considered "gems" for PC gaming, do not have this feature. This means that users who want to get the best bang for their buck will need to look elsewhere.
Finally, and perhaps most simply, most PC gamers do not actually want to overclock their system. They prioritize performance over tweaking and optimizing, making the lack of CPU overclocking support on these new CPUs less of an issue than it might have been in the past.
However, this development does have some potential benefits for users. The estimated prices of the new Rocket Lake CPUs are significantly lower than those of AMD's Ryzen processors, offering a compelling alternative for users who want high-performance without breaking the bank. Assuming that the B560 motherboards will be similar to their B460 counterparts in terms of price and performance, this could result in savings of around $50-$100 per system.
The key question on everyone's mind is, how much will these B560 motherboards cost? If they are priced similarly to their B460 counterparts, this would represent a significant saving for users. With the new GPUs arriving later this year, users will finally have the horsepower they need to handle high-refresh-rate gaming and demanding multiplayer titles.
The arrival of these new CPUs and motherboards brings us full circle - we now have two fully viable options for PC gamers, rather than being forced into one particular platform or manufacturer. This is a great development for the industry as a whole, allowing users to choose the best option for their needs and budget.

As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this development. Are you Team Intel or Team AMD? Will you be opting for the B560 platform or sticking with a different manufacturer? Let me know in the comments below!
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enyou're going to be able to build a cheaper gaming pc this year now that got your attention didn't it pc gaming news is all a little bit doom and gloom at the moment but fear not what if i told you that you could build a gaming pc that not only has the next generation of gaming performance has support for things like memory overclocking pcie generation 4 ssds and still save yourself some money in the process some might doubt me and call me a liar but i'd call myself pretty accurate let me explain after this core says 5000 series is about to change your gaming pc forever with room for all the latest and greatest components you can easily fit and call ginormous graphics cards with ease step up your game with corsair's air guide fan technology and with support for a whopping 10 case fans you can always get the build that's right for you you can even choose between glass and mesh panels the possibilities really are endless check out the corsair 5000 series today with that link down below let's waste absolutely no time in jumping straight into it because we already know that this year we're bound to see brand new graphics cards at the more budget end of the market that are going to give next generation performance we're going to see big boost to fps so if you're wanting to play things like apex legends fortnite warzone and you don't want to spend a huge amount on a gaming pc then there's a lot of exciting news to come i'd wager that we're looking at probably an extra 20 to 30 pounds on the graphics card but we're going to see that huge jump in fps especially in games like cyberpunk and i reckon that even the entry-level cards like the rtx 3050 will support ray tracing even if it's not going to be the absolute best performer out there and this in itself is fantastic news but it's not what we're actually here to talk about today surprising i know and even more surprising is that the news comes from intel we've got intel on intel now if you haven't already noticed the ryzen processors have gotten so good that i actually haven't built an intel pc in months the ryzen 5 5600x is a ridiculously good cpu that all gamers should be locked onto with both eyes it's the champion of pc gaming at the moment if you were but the price of this generation actually went up with this unit around about 300 pounds and that definitely puts it out of reach for a lot of gamers in isolation that price increase was okay but the real problem came with the fact that the b550 motherboards also went up in price compared to b450 and obviously you want all of the features but asking an extra 50 to 100 pounds for a motherboard in combination with 50 pounds more give or take for the cpu was a massive increase and sure you're going to get more features with things like gen 4 pcie and of course overclocking supports but this just doesn't help gamers on a budget at least not for the time being i am hereby extremely excited then to tell you that intel has seen this opportunity and has definitely pounced ladies and gentlemen remember the name b560 because you're gonna need it on paper it perhaps doesn't sound that interesting it's a mid-range chipset but it's one that supports the newest 11th generation of intel cpus and just like amd's b550 you also get support for pcie generation 4 and both the discrete graphics and the single ssd the best bit about b560 though is that they've actually listened to us and enabled memory overclocking straight out the box so if you have ram that wants to run at 3600 megahertz then just enable the xmp profile and you should be away this was a big limitation last time around on b460 so i'm really excited to see that this is now enabled not that you'll necessarily even need it because now the new rocket lake cpus actually support 3 200 megahertz with no changes whatsoever but hold your horses it's not all good news as unfortunately cpu overclocking is not supported you instead need to go for a z590 motherboard for that but to be honest i don't really think it matters that much there's three main reasons for this the first one being that amd is so competitive with their processors now that intel needs to squeeze every single last drop out of all of their processes no matter how much they cost and this means that the room for overclocking is likely to be reduced so even if you do go for a more expensive z590 motherboard you might not be getting the same benefit that you would have done a few years ago the second is that intel offers a huge range of cpus and the cheaper ones don't allow for overclocking in the first place and these are often the gems that offer the best of bang for buck when it comes to pc gaming and then the third is incredibly simple most pc gamers don't actually want to overclock their system so even if they did have the option they probably wouldn't do it all right then centric you make a valid point but how on earth is that actually going to save me money well it's because your platform should be cheaper should be should be should be and we're back to marcus remember b550 and ryzen cpus have got more expensive so intel may decide to also increase their prices they are entitled to do this if they want but as they were on the back foot if they do it won't really be by much so let's estimate that a four core non-overclockable i3 chip would be around about 100 pounds the 6 core i5 200 pounds and then the 8 core i7 300 pounds no matter which way you look at it these are all very enticing prices bearing in mind that we're surely looking at rise and matching performance here at least all with the future proofing of pci generation 4 and the faster memory speeds that make the platform more suitable for gamers of all levels not just those looking at affordable options the key question and one that is still currently unanswered is just how much will these b560 motherboards cost because assuming that they're quite similar to the last generation of b460 then this would be a considerable saving versus a b550 motherboard and assuming that the intel chips were cheaper for around about the same sort of performance as a ryzen chip you can think we're getting savings of what around about 50 to 100 pounds 100 pounds would be a massive deal so yeah i'm definitely speculating a little bit here but you can definitely see the potential for this to work out because the way i see it worst case scenario is that the boards and the cpus are essentially the same prices as each other with the same sort of performance and basically the same feature set this would still be wonderful news as you'll have twice the availability from double the platforms and the usual pricing wall will begin where 10 pounds will be knocked off here five dollars there and all of this will soon start to add up and again don't forget that all of these new gpus are coming this year so suddenly your dream gaming pc will actually become a reality with high refresh rate gaming and all of your favorite multiplayer titles and then the cpu horsepower to back it up it's great news for me it's great news for you and i think it's great news for the industry to actually have two proper fully viable options that means that if you do buy the wrong one it's not really the wrong one at all let me know your thoughts on this down in that comment section below did you think about b560 or was this completely off your radar are you team amd team intel or are you on team buy whatever's best the best team the
