Creating a Fortnite Chest: A Step-by-Step Guide
We're going to make this chest using cardboard boxes, corrugated cardboard, and hot glue. We need them to be really well pasted and stable otherwise the mechanism won't work. And you know how it is, we have to do the same thing on the other side. If you want, you can reinforce it onto top to make it more secure.
We're going to take the inside part and roll it in about 8 or 10 times maybe more. It has to feel tense and it should make this noise. Finished, it works perfectly! Now, we're going to stick it on the chest I'm going to put it on the front part and place it on the edge can you see? It has to be straight. Paste it there using our reliable, and best friend (in this tutorial) the hot glue.
We're going to use a cardboard strip, put it on the side, pressing on the black part and we're going to mark down the border of the box. We're going to do the same thing on the other side and we're going to cut these out. We're going to paste these pieces with a little bit almost nothing of hot glue on the bottom part of our box making sure that the shape is like the one we drew with the box. Paste it. Remember, it's almost nothing of hot glue because we want to be able to rip it out.
One on each side. Once they are stand and still close it carefully and we're going to paste the top part. Here I'm testing out it's fine and when I'm sure that it's going to work we'll add the hot glue and paste it. Perfect! When you feel like this has pasted, remember this takes a while to cool off we're going to separate both pieces very carefully.
And that's it. We need these bumps so that the explosion doesn't occur when the box is closed. Ready! We have finished the box! The next thing to do are the decorations or the details which make it look special. Make this lock using the same corrugated cardboard only painted gray and this black one to give it a depth effect and make it seem like you can stick a key in.
Also, we're going to use velcro I'm going to use black so it matches and we're going to place this velcro on the bottom part of the lock. Right here. Look it should look like this. We're going to take this to the box and we're going to paste it on the part where there isn't velcro, can you see? Right above here.
We're going to paste it on the top part of the chest which is going to be the lid. We'll paste it with a lot of hot glue because if not then it'll come off. And now we're going to make this close. To close it we need to rotate our mechanism about 8 to 10 times maybe more It has to be pretty tense.
Then these things above that are sort of round we're going to push them inside pull the lid check that the vertical borders we did are holding the black part with the rubber band. Now we're going to add hot glue to the velcro and we're going to close it up. This is how we make sure that the box is well closed but that it works, as well.
And now we're going to decorate the rest I'm going to add the side parts which are also made of metal. Here I'm going to make this ironwork end up with the shape of the box so I'm going to paste it like this. And I'm also going to paste another one underneath. This is because since the box is crook it'll give it a better finish rather than if we did it straight.
Look at this cutie! We still needs some details which we're going to work on. Finished! This is how our perfect Fortnite chest turned out. Now it's time to add the gift And if you have a gamer boyfriend, you can give him some really cool headphones. I'm also going to add a hard drive disc because, I don't know, I think storing all of your memories is important.
A mini Samurai and chocolates because we all love chocolates. Give it a like if you do too. Now we're going to prepare the mechanism we'll rotate it until it's tense and we'll add the confetti. Attention! The confetti you have to use should be made out of tissue paper and in very small squares otherwise the explosion won't look as cool.
We'll close up our box and that's it. You can give it away now! And expect an explosion when you open it! Doesn't it look incredible? Tell me in the comments section, would you like someone to give you something like this?
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enHey this Fortnite thing isn't as harda chest!Die you bastard!Oh my gosh, I think I just killed myself.Come on we can make it.I think I'm making it!Agh!I think I'm making it now!Can I go inside of this building? No, no I can't.Agh I died. No!I think that's why I do craft videosand not game plays.Hello Crafters!Lately I've been hearing a lot about Fortniteand I started seeing if I could playand what you just watched happened.I'm very bad at playing video gamesbut luckily I'm very good at making crafts. So it occured to me to make an incredible explosive boxof a Fortnite chestfor your boyfriend or for your friendsor to all the people who are obsessedwith Fortnite right now.And if not you can adapt it and just use it as a chestbut it's really cool! Before we start the videoremember that in order to not miss out any tutorialand any Craftingeek video you have to subscribeon the red button down belowand activate the bell. Also remember we have a date on Wednesday at 5for your livestreams on mixer. And now let's start with the video!Making this box is really easy! We're going to need corrugated cardboardwhich we're going to convert into this pieceI'll leave you the templateso you can download it here. We're going to start marking down each of the linesusing an inkless pen or a dotting tooland help yourself with the rulerso that the lines turn out straight.Marking this down will make ita lot easier to build the box. This is basically the box procedure, it's very simplemark down the lines and then these oneswhich are like tabs, we're going to paste themusing hot glue because it's a lot fasterand start making the shape. Here, if you notice, the first foldthat goes on top of the chest, goes towards the insideso check the folds end up on the right direction. When you have finished, you'll have a chest like this onereally pretty! But it still doesn't look like the Fortnite chestbecause that one's yellow,so let's paint it.I'm going to use a spongeand I'm going to stain it a little at a time.It doesn't matter if it isn't perfectthose chests aren't perfect eitherit'll make it look unique and special. Now we have it like thiswe'll put it asideBecause we're going to work with regular cardboardthe kind from shoe boxes that's thickand we're going to do the following piecessome rectangular pieces in these sizesthis one that's a little bit biggerand two small pieces. Now, paste the pieces so that we end up with a box without a lid. We're still going to keep using hot gluebecause it makes this procedure a lot easier. And this other piece should fit insidebut it should be able to rotate, can you see?Now what happened to mewas that it ended up being too tallso I'm going to cut off the excessto make it the same height as the box.Like this. And on this piece what we're going to do is drawthree horizontal sections of the same size.Mine ended up being 1cmbut this may vary depending on your box.And now, at 1cm from the sideswe're going to make another linebut this one vertically. And on the intersections we had leftwe're going to punch them out.The easiest thing is to start with a tackor something sharp and thenuse something like this dotting toolto make the hole a lot bigger. But be careful, because we don't wantto make this hole really big.Look this is how mine turned out.Tadah.Now we're going to use a rubber bandthese big ones which are used for officesand we're going to cut it in half. Then we're going to stick one of these tips inthrough one of the holes we already made.I'm helping myself with the dotting tool,it could also be with a pencil.Be careful not to punch out the rubber bandand we're going to pass it on each of the sidesso that it ends up like this.Let's pull it, readythis is what we need.We have to do the same thing on the other side.On the box we madewe're going to make a mark in middleand at 1 cm from the upper cornerand we're going to make another hole there. This one needs to be biggerbecause we're going to pass bothof the rubber band tips throughso punch it out and make it big.Remember you have to do this on both sides. And now it's punched out and is perfectit's time to stick the rubber bands in.We're going to put it like thisand we're going to stick it in a little at a timehere it's with a lot of patiencebecause you take a while or they come offbecause they get pulled from a sideso just do it patiently.Finished, it should look like this. This is just what we need.We have rubber bands on both sidesand these have been passed through the box.Since we need to paste these rubber bands on the boxthe best thing is to use clips to hold on the sidesotherwise, this will be coming offand believe me, it's going to be very frustratingso use some clipsI have these which are used to hold papers. And I'm going to paste it on the other sideusing hot glue. Be careful here because is very hotso use somethingto hold the rubber bandsuntil they don't move anymore. We need them to be really well pastedand stableotherwise the mechanism won't work. And you know how it iswe have to do the same thing on the other side.If you want you can reinforce it on topto make it more secure.and now that it looks like this, check it out this cutiethis mechanism is perfect and ready to be used.Let's try to make sure it works. That's really easy, we're going to take the inside partand roll it in about 8 or 10 timesmaybe more, it has to feel tenseand it should make this noise.Finished, it works perfectly! Now, we're going to stick it on the chestI'm going to put it on the front partand place it on the edge.can you see?It has to be straight.Paste it there using our reliable, and best friend (in this tutorial) the hot glue. We're going to use a cardboard strip, put it on the side, pressing on the black partand we're going to mark down the border of the box .We're going to do the same thing on the other sideand we're going to cut these out.we're going to paste these pieces with a little bitalmost nothing of hot glueon the bottom part of our boxmaking sure that the shapeis like the one we drew with the box.Paste it.Remember it's almost nothing of hot gluebecause we want to be able to rip it out.One on each side.Once they are stand and stillclose it carefullyand we're going to paste the top part. Here I'm testing out it's fineand when I'm sure that it's going to workwe'll add the hot glueand paste it.Perfect! When you feel like this has pasted, remember this takes a while to cool offwe're going to separate both pieces very carefullyand that's it.We're going to need these bumpsso that the explosion doesn't occurwhen the box is closed.Ready!
