absolutely rips but it's also got a lot of rips in the interior it's destroyed it's nasty it's gross So today we're going to totally strip out the interior and turn this car into not only a nicer place to be but a better car to drive let's do it first thing we need to do is get all this old grow stuff out of the car and then we can start putting the new nice stuff back in So as this car gets faster around the track my body goes flying harder from side to side and this stock seat even if it were in good shape doesn't hold me in place very well I find myself bracing trying to hold myself in place and still doing a lot of this so a nice set of seats will hug you better and make you have to work less hard to stay in place which is really important when you're trying to go fast around a track so to hold my big butt in place better we got these instead of Recaro sr3s recovered in yellow with a nice houndstooth insert these things look sick and it's gonna be a nice yellow touch in the car they match the valve cover kind of so a good set of seats have nice bolsters and what that means is just kind of the sides of the seat that come up around you and hug you and hold you in place you kind of get in these and boy they hug you just like Daddy never did alright so the first thing I'm going to do is take out the steering wheel the steering wheel is huge so taking it out first will just grant me a little bit more room to get the rest of the stuff out and we are replacing the steering wheel so it's got to come out anyway so Jimmy's going to disconnect the battery for me because this thing does have an airbag but not for long this is Jimmy and this is exactly what could happen if you don't disconnect your battery when you're messing with airbags good luck oh no poor Jimmy I look okay don't forget to disconnect your airbags kids you know they say a dog is a man's best friend but I disagree isn't that right little buddy yeah this is g-max as07 from today's sponsor General because we're gonna get this nasty carpet out of here this thing stinks I hate it I can't wait to get it out so it's actually nice to drive in here yo Jimmy bring out the shop back all right that's a steam cleaner baby these things work great and no harsh chemicals neither Jimmy it's feeling pretty romantic in here with all these steamy Windows you want me to go get the candles again yeah you know what I'm thinking oh okay in addition to a lot of nice Touches for the interior we're also going to be adding some safety so we got a roll cage from autopower it's a bolt in cage which should make it pretty easy to install and the difference between a bolt in cage and a welding cage is pretty much what it sounds like this cage will bolt into the car it's time to mount our roll cage just need to remove these interior panels because the rear bars will intersect them so we're gonna have to make holes in them I do want to put them back on this thing is going to be beautiful yeah this is about how it should fit and it fits pretty good nice and tight up against the B pillar and pretty close to the roof should be pretty easy to install I'm gonna go grab a Sharpie and we'll mark our whole spots then we'll take it back out make our holes and then this summer biscuit in well I need access to the top of the wheel well at the rear here to get to the underside where the hardware goes for the cage so just picked it up yank the wheels off Jimmy's almost done cleaning the plastiques Adam's messing around with the carpet throwing it in he's going to trim spots for the cage and then we're all going to meet in the middle this carpet only cost us 135 bucks and it's gonna actually transform the inside of the car you know in a lot of cars like this you strip out everything that you can everything that's unnecessary carpet is technically unnecessary but then the car gets really loud and hot and it's not as nice a place to be and we want this to be a nice blend of things it rips and it makes enough power that I'm not concerned about wasting a few pounds on carpet yikki there's a lot of cuts not made though so basically yeah the carpet isn't expensive but it comes with no holes so there's going to be a lot of in and out in and out you want to lay it into the car see where you might have to cut some holes mark it with a pen and cut remember it cut less because you can always cut more later so we took some of the stock stuff out of the Civic like the headliners and a bunch of the pillar trim even the visors and we sent them off to an upholstery shop and they covered them in Alcantara so this is really becoming a luxury Civic it's gonna be sweet let's take a look at the headliner oh baby what is this a Mercedes yeah that's nice we need to install it which means we need to remove the cage so whenever you're putting a headliner in you want to be super careful it's long it's quite flimsy and the last thing you want is to bend this thing especially when you just get it wrapped so be careful grab a buddy get it done right that's nice dude look at this uh headliner Alcantara we're taking the whole cluster out because this car has no tack in it so we have no idea where the engine is at all so Chuck a new one in so we actually have some sort of premise or idea I've got a headboard jacking up the front of the car right now we're gonna drain the coolant because we're gonna put in two aftermarket gauges one is for water temperature thus the draining of the coolant another one is going to be oil pressure those are your two most critical vital signs to know in a motor because if one of them is either getting too high or too low you know you should probably pull over and check something out these are cool because they're precise when the water temp starts moving on this needle probably not a good day so we want to know before anything starts happening Apex is pretty easy to install this is your brain unit all you need to do is provide Power and ground to the Box itself then you hook the wire from the gauge straight to the brain then the sensor straight to the brain as well and you're all set ah any good car has good pedals so we got a set of Mugen pedals they look sweet and they will feel sweet so I'm just going to yank off the old rubber pieces that have been on for probably since forever and uh replace them with these fine pieces they're a little bit bigger so we'll get to close up the gaps between the pedals which is good for car control we're getting close we've got most of the stuff installed just a couple big things left you may notice I'm taking off the wheels these wheels belong to the Miata and they're going back to it which means the Civic needs Wheels which means we got wheels te37s for the Civic it's a 15 by 8 et35 and we've got a set of 225 45 15 Nitto nto ones these are super sticky tires and super sticky wheels these are going to look awesome I've always wanted a set and now I got a set this thing's come a long way in a short time can't wait to get these on get it on the ground and look at it oh look at that what a classic wheel sitting pretty behind some spoon bricks three-way one two three not bad all right we are reaching the finish line here we've got a work spell Hub this will help us attach our dogfight wheel that we've got here and this will just have you feel the road better it's just nice because it's literally what you're touching the entire time so might as well do it nice old wheel new wheel old wheel about 15 inches this guy is 350 millimeters now it doesn't sound like a lot but that's quite a bit of leg room that'll free it up for for Joby and me so along with our steering package we got a quick release now this is kind of cool for a couple reasons one makes it easy to get in and out of the car by just popping this off detaching it from the column itself also you could kind of use it as a theft deterrent because you could walk around within the mall you look super cool a lot of people think your car is awesome so it's got two little benefits pop into Zoomies where you can now get donut media merch already that feels great we're coach Builders yeah all right carpets in wheels are on pretty much time to throw the seats in stand back and admire our work all right so with seats it's usually a good idea to get some harnesses especially if we're gonna be hitting the track these are two inches and they'll accommodate a Hans device as well plus it's a little bit thinner so it's not as bulky on the neck area so it's nice so job is finishing up the rail on the other seat all we need to do is Chuck it in and dude we're pretty much done here oh hot dog it looks pretty sick God it looks like a whole new car these seats feel great they're a great Crossroads of comfort and support you know I really feel like I'm held in here well without being restricted or uncomfortable I am so excited to have these seats in here and the wheel oh my God and the pedals wow
