Android Wear vs. iWatch
The Smartwatch Revolution: Google's IL Conference and Its Impact on the Industry
With Apple having held their own developers conference WWDC just weeks ago, their arrival has recently followed suit. Google's I/O conference is now underway, striving for innovation in the open, with one of its main focuses being smart wearable devices or the more common SmartWatch. The likes of LG, Samsung, and Motorola each reveal their individual devices running the new OS Android Wear.
Samsung introduced the new Gear Live, while LG unleashed the new LG G Watch. Motorol's Moto 360 has appeared to be a fan favorite, with Apple's iWatch rumored to be in the making despite a number of leaks and alleged notions. A possible release or even announcement in 2014 seems unsure, with iOS 8 being pushed for the mobile platform and the unique stress on health many believe that would be a core interest for the iWatch.
Those interested in these smartwatches should definitely keep the look of the watch in mind but also the software as an important factor as well. From the Android side, having to always check your phone is something that hope to be eliminated with Android Wear. The notification system pulls from the apps on your phone Google now and more so everything of interest on your phone is pushed straight to your wrist even based on location.
While both the LG and Samsung watches have square screen designs, Android Wear has been supported for the Moto 360 circular display with simple swipe controls. Users can customize their watches to fit themselves, and when using a SmartWatch it can even control other devices too by tapping or even doing a Google voice command straight to the watch. With Android Wear supporting and automatically installing companion apps to those installed on your phone, health and fitness support and even more are available.
Both the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live will be available on July seventh, ranging around the two hundred dollar price range as of now. The Moto 360 s release date and price is unsure, but it will definitely be interesting to see how or if these new smartwatches affect the alleged wearable Apple is working on.
