Getting Inspired by Taylor Swift's New Music Video: A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a Ballerina-Inspired Look
Hey guys, so today I am doing a tutorial inspired by Taylor Swift's new music video "Shake It Off". I had a vote on my blog where people could vote for the favorite look of the entire video because she had around five to six looks and the winner was the ballerina girl. So, without any further ado, if you want to know how to get this Taylor Swift look right here then please keep on watching.
First things first, I'm always starting with a base to my eyelids to prevent everything from creasing. I'm using my MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot for this. Now, let's move on to the eyes. I'm going in my Meat Matte Nude Palette by The Balm and taking the color Matte Maloy with a large eye shadow brush to place it on my lid line. Don't be afraid to make it kind of stark, making it white, as we're creating a soft cut crease look here. To achieve this, I'm mixing the colors Matte Abdul and Matte Hung on the tips of my Zo 231 Eluxe Petite Crease Brush and applying it really precisely just above my crease. We're basically creating a soft cut crease look with a nice ballerina wing at the outer corner.
To add some definition to our lower lash line, I'm again taking Matte Abdul and Matte Hung, but this time using a Sigma Flat Definer Brush. I'm giving definition to the roots of my lower lashes mainly on the outer corner here, then slowly working my way into the inner parts of my lower lash line with a Zoea Wing Liner Brush. Now that we've got our liner done, it's time for the super cute winged eyeliner. For this, I'm using my Kat Fund D Tattoo Liner in Trooper and starting from the beginning of this line that determines the entire angle of the eyeliner.
We're going to fill this in, then slowly but surely start working our way into the very inner corner, making it quite thick and dramatic. Now, taking an angled brush and using those colors we used on the crease and lower lash line, we're going to make this sort of second soft wing with eyeshadow. Just take your angled brush and basically you just want to take that out and create this super soft second Wing very ballerina very cutesy and girly. I really like that.
Next up is highlighting our inner corners using an Ube Hiphop Eyeshadow by Lome, applying a little bit of Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Milk on the waterline. Finally, let's finish off with some lashes - I'm using the Xoy Romantics for today's look.
Moving on to the cheeks, I'm first going to sculpt and contour using my Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit. I'm going to contour using the middle of the darkest colors, then with Hoola Bronzer by Benefit, diffuse that a little bit and give my face a little bit more warmth. For blush, I'm going into MAC's Dame, Ow just hurt myself real bad, taking it on a loose fluffy brush like this Bubby Brown Sheer Powder Brush and basically dusting it in a line above my contour from ear to hairline to smile lines.
To give ourselves that beautiful glow that she had on in her ballerina look, I'm of course going to use my Bens Lux Lumere powder in Ice. Moving on to lips, you want to go for this really natural pinky gloss, so first I'm going to fake a fuller top lip using some Boltle Bear Lip Pencil by MAC.
For lipstick, I'm going to use Mac's Angel. That concludes my Taylor Swift Shake It Off ballerina inspired music video look! I hope you guys enjoyed it.
