2019 Audi R8 V10 Performance - The Novice Drivers Perfect Supercar !

**A Week with the Audi R8 V10 Performance: A Superhero in Every Sense**

As I sat behind the wheel of the Audi R8 V10 Performance, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and trepidation. This car is not just any supercar; it's a highly advanced machine that promises unparalleled performance and driving pleasure. My experience with this vehicle has been nothing short of remarkable, and I'm eager to share my thoughts on what makes it so special.

**A Superhero's Achilles' Heel**

One of the most striking features of the R8 V10 Performance is its speed. With a 0-60 mph time of just 3.1 seconds, this car is capable of reaching incredible velocities in a remarkably short period. However, as I soon discovered, this rapid acceleration also means that it's extremely challenging to control on public roads. The speed at which the R8 V10 Performance can gather momentum is simply immense, and it requires an inordinate amount of skill and caution to drive it safely on everyday roads.

**A Week with the Audi R8 V10 Performance**

I spent a week with the R8 V10 Performance, and during that time, I found myself constantly rediscovering its capabilities. The car's sheer speed is undeniably impressive, but it's also a double-edged sword. While it's exhilarating to drive at high speeds, it can be intimidating on less-than-ideal roads or in situations where there are other factors at play.

**The Ideal Driving Experience**

In retrospect, I've come to realize that my ideal driving experience is not necessarily with a supercar like the R8 V10 Performance. While it's undoubtedly an incredible machine, its immense power and speed can make it difficult to enjoy on everyday roads. A more practical approach might be to choose a car that still delivers exceptional performance but is also more forgiving in terms of its handling and control.

**A Zero-to-Zero Test**

To test the R8 V10 Performance's acceleration capabilities, I chose a long, straight stretch of road with no traffic or obstacles in sight. The result was nothing short of astonishing: from 0-60 mph in just 3.1 seconds, I was able to cover another 300 miles per hour before slowing down again for the return trip. This kind of acceleration is truly remarkable and gives you a sense of just how fast this car can go.

**A Car that's More than Just Speed**

While speed is certainly an important aspect of the R8 V10 Performance, it's not the only factor to consider when evaluating this vehicle. The car's interior is surprisingly spacious and comfortable, with ample legroom and storage space for passengers and luggage alike. Additionally, the Audi Connect system provides a seamless integration with smartphones and other devices, making navigation and entertainment a breeze.

**The Verdict: A Daily Supercar?**

For me, the R8 V10 Performance represents something of a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it's an incredible machine that delivers unparalleled performance and driving pleasure. On the other hand, its immense power and speed can make it difficult to enjoy on everyday roads.

**The Price Tag: A Luxury Item**

Pricing for the R8 V10 Performance starts at around £130,000, with top-of-the-line models reaching a staggering £170,000. While these prices are undoubtedly eye-watering, they also reflect the car's exceptional capabilities and features.

**A Final Impression**

In conclusion, my experience with the Audi R8 V10 Performance has left me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, I was thoroughly impressed by its speed, handling, and overall driving pleasure. On the other hand, I found that it's not necessarily the best choice for everyday driving on public roads.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enOh hey guys and welcome to petrol ped and welcome to the Audi r8 v10 performance this car is epic in every single way but I need to talk you through the details so let's head back to the barn and I'll tell you all you need to know now as a car reviewer it's always pretty special when you have a supercar parked on your driveway the fact I've had this supercar pop damar driver for the last week thanks to outer UK and I've done probably seven or eight hundred miles in the car makes it super special now this particular car the r8 v10 performance in the days of hybrids and smaller turbocharged engines the fact that this still has a normally aspirated v10 is a thing to behold and the noise it makes on full chat is is quite remarkable but we'll get onto that from the outside the R eights been around a long time I've always been a big fan it's always kind of been a wide aggressive looking car but I just think this latest derivative of the supercar from Audi is super mean and aggressive from the front the kind of lights and the it just has a really purposeful look to it I think this particular colour spec now this is the carbon black edition this is a beautiful kind of bluey grey color it's got a metallic Fleck to it in the light which I know the camera will not do justice to and there's a lot of carbon fibre little bits on the kind of wings and spoilers and wing mirror caps and inside it's packed full of the stuff so it really does look very special from the outside and in my time with the car so far it's drawn huge amounts of attention if you want if you want to drive a car and not have lots of attention you don't drive a supercar perhaps though my favorite view is around the back of the car let's face it the rear view of this car is the one that most people are going to see so it's a good job it's on point the front of the car is aggressive but the back end of the car just has this kind of see you later look accentuated by the black badging against this particular body colour I think that sets things off brilliantly I love the carbon fibre diffuser section on the back of his car I may have got to be the biggest exhaust tips ever ridiculously big but super super cool exposed carbon fibre everywhere is set off by this be beautiful rear wing gives the car a kind of racy edgy feel I just don't think this car looks right without it to be fair and then I find myself just staring into that engine bay for hours on end and at nighttime it's actually lit it's just beautiful to kind of look in there you could pop the glass and have a really good look about v10 lurking beneath round the side of the car this model is the same as the previous one the carbon blade is split with the body colour I always like that it kind of broke the car up a little bit I know this cars had a little bit of criticism for this fake vent here personally you've got no problem with that this one's perfectly functional so you've got almost like function and aesthetics I'm not going to complain about that I think the rest of the car just it just sets it off beautifully so I think it's about time we get out the magic key of dreams and jump inside now my biggest problem with this is this key to a supercar is exactly the same as the key I after my s4 and if I'd spent the amount of money this car cost which we'll get onto shortly I'd want something a little bit more special than that but let's jump inside and show you the inside of the r8 v10 performance welcome to the inside beautiful place in here this cars spec is well it there's a lot of lovely things on here this is the carbon black edition so I have carbon fibre inlays all around the center console surrounding all of the air vents it's just beautiful even little details around the kind of side panels here around the instrument binnacle absolutely beautiful sports seats pretty firm will talk about those maybe more when we get out on the road other things to note in this cabin from a spec point of view is this roof lining is a two and a half thousand pound option so you know if you're going to be specking this car does really make it very special in here so shall we start it because the starter for this car is very special it's just lovely I'm gonna shut this door now just err hopefully you maybe hear me a little bit better it's got a deep menacing throb now when it's warming up it kind of idles quite high about 1,500 rpm and then as soon as it starts to warm up it does drop down to idle around about a thousand rpm which is much much better my neighbours have commented they always know when I'm going out they can hear the car start and other things in here this is a very very standard Audi fare I've got virtual cockpit it's almost identical in terms of how I control things to my Audi s4 I guess the only difference is drive select button is on here again I'm going to talk about that more when I go out in terms of my optimum settings I've found for the car start/stop button it starts top button rather is on the steering wheel and they've got a little checkered flag here which basically allows me to put a dry or wet setting so you got performance snow wet and dry mode and that backs the traction control off and I haven't to be fair put it in that mode very often because I just don't think on the public road I'm gonna get the opportunity to do that I know you all want to listen to the engine but let me just turn it off for a while so you can actually hear me from a driving position point of view I'm a pretty tall chap firstly apologies for having my legs out today it's quite warm out here in the UK and this seats about as far back as I can get it what I've had to do is is change the attitude at the bottom of the seat to be more upright so that it provides more support underneath my legs otherwise a lot of pressure on my seat bones and I've found I've got a bit of a numb bum the steering wheel you've got reach until adjustments you can get in a really nice I like the steering wheel quite close to me so that's quite nice and the rest of the cabin is really light and airy and there's a lot of room in here it is quite an upright seating position for me because to get the seat far enough back for my legs I've got to kind of tilt the back seat so it is quite upright on a longer journey I might like to be a kind of little bit more relaxed but if you're on it and you're on a kind of really nice beero blaster on a track day brilliant driving position you got a little drinks thing there which had a big fan off to be honest but you can put some drinks there and then from a storage point of view under the bonnet storage is quite poor it's only about a hundred and twenty odd litres I think and most of that's to do with the fact that because this is Quattro four-wheel drive you've got you've got a whole bunch of mechanics underneath the car between the front axles that kind of compromise the boot space up front but I do have a huge pasture shelf behind me with about 250 liters and it's got like a cargo net in it so it's a bit of a faff to put stuff in there but it makes it a little bit more practical but I think enough talking about this car while it's sat here stationary on my driveway I think we need to get it out on the road and this car is all about the driving and very spectacular it is too so the first thing that greets you when you drive this car this is the revs built to about 3000 rpm you get this drone start from the back in that that's a really nice drone not a nasty drone and and it just builds and builds and builds and this engine the noise it makes from kind of 3000 rpm it just builds a crescendo all the way up to this red line and make that our thousand rpm it is a masterpiece it's beautiful as none of this artificial noise creation going on there just a naturally aspirated 5.2 liter v10 now this is the v10 performance Edition previously it was called the v10 plus and the power output is car is 620 PS if you buy the standard or a v10 it's still kicking out 570 PS oh it's a powerful powerful car now the drive select program in this has a number of different settings and when I first add the car I just stuck in dynamic which turns everything to the max and had an absolute hoot however as I eat as I get more miles in the car that maturity my maturity started to come to the fore what I've done is an individual setting with everything to the max except the suspension on a put the suspension to comfort and that just gives it still pretty firm but that gives just that little bit more compliance to the ride and actually on a bumpy B Road the ride is is exceptionally good for such a you know a kind of plainly strung supercar so driving along in normal drive mode in in a comfort setting or an individual setting his car belies its performance that's how I kind of approached the RA for me I think the RA is if you if you wanted to get into supercar driving for the very very first time and you've never driven anything with nearly as much more power as this and clearly unlucky to have driven lots of very fast and fast and powerful cars I think the r8 is a great place to start because although it's super quick it's a really approachable car the four-wheel drive system the way the powers delivered it's not intimidating in any way and actually when you're booting along like this it just feels like we're driving in any out Ian maybe maybe that's one of the problems I have with this car but I'll come to that shortly so it's a very approachable car anybody could get in this car and drive it and not feel too intimidated so let's push on a bit I'm gonna put into my favorite driving mode you basically pull the selector back towards you to engage sport mode and then knocking to the left and I'm now on the paddles are dropping down on and 5000rpm that's J Tina 7000rpm it just sounds incredible so this cast 620 PS and he weighs around 1600 kilos if you get the standard r8 v10 to about 65 kilos more so a little bit of weight saving in this particular car but the boys on the road once the speed increases is is really really comforting you've got so much traction and so much balance that it allows you to really kind of get on with it and exploit the car quite quickly even for a novice driver I think you could drive this car quite fast steering feels really good it's not as dirty and as engaging as something like a mclaren 570s but I think that's where for me this car is if you wanted a supercar that you were going to use every day and and not worry about waking up in the morning and switching it on and worrying about whether it's gonna start or not then you want it to be reliable and relatively cost-effective to keep on the road this car takes every box it really really does because it's got the kind of comfort and equipment levels and spaciousness in here of just a fast Audi but the performance I mean the performances is super super special seriously when you push on in this car you cover the grass so well and to have a naturally aspirated 5.2 liter v10 right behind your left arrow is a very very special thing now and we'll have to just quickly stick it up the petrol pen Hill Climb it's just got traction in abundance it's slow a good little bit of understeer there but you know it's a tight corner and I don't think many people are gonna push the envelope of this car on the public highway to be fair wanna see ping point a point on a road I can't think of many things that would be quicker than this for average Joe Bloggs driver like me it's so approachable you can deploy the power so much you don't really have that worry of losing the back end or only a massive tail out Chris Harris power slides and I know for many people that will be the thing that detract from this car because it doesn't have that playful sportiness it might be a little bit clinical for some but if you like your car safe and clinical and ballistically fast this thing ticks every box the thing I found fascinating this week is I'd be very lucky to driven lots of supercars and very high-performance cars normally for a few hours maybe a day this is the first time I've spent a whole week with a supercar my main finding is you spend years as a kid and as a young driver hankering after a supercar and you finally get your hands on one and you're very very rapidly realized that you just cannot exploit them on the public highway they are so fast and you have to be so careful the speed these things gather is just so immense this car will do nought to 60 miles an hour in 3.1 seconds I have to try that out in a moment and it will top 200 miles out hundred five miles an hour although check out my major Achilles channel because he asked me beat up on the Autobahn in this very car but they are massively massively fast so actually for me if it's pure driving pleasure down Abbey Road or a country road on a Sunday morning I might not actually choose a supercar now I choose something with a little bit less power that you can really exploit the full performance of and maybe one of my criticisms of this car is it is so so good I'm never gonna get anywhere near the performance envelope of this car on the public road I'd love to get it on the track I'm sure it's amazing on the track but I think we do need to see what it's nor the 60 time is light but this thing is also equipped with the biggest set of carbon ceramic brakes I've ever seen so I think just for this car we're gonna do a zero to sixty to zero test to see just what it's like it's gonna find a nice straight that I wrote celli now for this year up to sixty test I'm not going to do a proper launch control I'm just going to stick it in sport put my foot in the carpet but we have a nice straight bit of national speed limit road ahead no cars around so order sixty test three two one sixty Wow I reckon that probably the ignore the 60 and back to know again faster than most cars will do naught to 60 so what are my final impressions of the Audi r8 v10 performance funky into just normal drive motion chill out for a while this car is so impressive on every level I've lived with it for a week I've now done eight hundred and thirty miles according to my long-term memory trip there and every single one of those has been a pleasure whether it was on the motorway to your carriageway or on a tight and twisty backcountry road like this one I'm averaged 17 point 9 miles per gallon so this is not a frugal car I have had that up to as much as twenty-three twenty-four miles per gallon but as soon as you push on that big old feet and lump in the back has a thirst for premium unleaded petrol and so super impressive car in every way it's so well equipped in here very very comfortable this is a proper daily supercar you could quite happily day this and I don't think there are many cars that you can put in that camp maybe something like a Porsche 911 Turbo you know it's gonna start every day you know it's gonna be reliable you know it's gonna be comfortable does it give you that extra supercar wow factor that I would maybe want for this kind of money we haven't talked price yet so the r8 v10 starts from around 130,000 pounds they don't do the v8 one anymore they don't be the rear-wheel drive only one anymore either this is top of the tree this car as equipped is a hundred and seventy thousand pound well a few pounds oil and for me that puts it up against some serious serious competition it's so Aldi in here for me I don't believe I'm gonna say this it just lacks some some little should I say quad that I might expect if I was spending a hundred 70 grand on a car however I know if I did spend that money I'd have a car I could use every day would be super reliable and I'd have an absolute blast of it so yeah that's real firstworldproblems a huge thank you to our UK for letting me have the car for a whole week anyway if you've enjoyed it give me a thumbs up comments below up always welcome and if you haven't done so already please subscribe to tetrapod for plenty more content to come and from their luxurious amazing driving position that is the Audi r8 v10 performance car black edition I'll say on the next film guys when you take care drive safe\n"
