The Jio Phone: A Smartphone for the Masses?
This smartphone is designed for people who are new to smartphones and have been using regular feature phones. The phone's processor is sluggish, which means that it will lag a little bit even for simple tasks. This can be frustrating, especially when trying to multitask with multiple apps.
Another feature of this phone is the Google Assistant, which allows users to perform various tasks with voice commands. However, the processor's slowness can make the assistant seem sluggish as well. Additionally, the phone does not have a fingerprint scanner, requiring users to always use their fingers to unlock and authenticate transactions.
The price of the Jio Phone is a major concern. At its full price of 6500 rupees, it is considered overpriced compared to other smartphones on the market. The phone's specs are good, but not great enough to justify the high price tag. Furthermore, the phone comes with a "processing fee" that brings the final price down to 2500 rupees, making it still relatively expensive.
The Jio Phone is also marketed with an "offer" that makes it seem like a steal at 1999 rupees (which was its original price). However, this offer only applies for a limited time and does not make up for the high final price. Additionally, the phone's emi plans are not as aggressive as they could be, making it difficult for users to afford the phone.
In comparison to other smartphones on the market, the Jio Phone is simply not competitive. For example, the Redmi phones from Xiaomi offer better specs and performance at a lower price point. The Realme phones also offer similar features and quality at a lower price point than the Jio Phone. The article concludes that the Jio Phone's pricing is the biggest issue, as it is simply too high for what it offers.
Camera App
The camera app on the Jio Phone is actually pretty decent, thanks to Google's processing power. However, the rear-facing camera's performance is only okay, and the front-facing camera could use some improvement. Despite this, the camera can still take acceptable photos in certain situations. For example, if you need to take a quick photo or document, the camera app gets the job done.
Battery Life
The Jio Phone has a 3500mAh battery capacity, which is not impressive considering its processor's slowness. This means that users can expect poor battery life, especially with heavy usage. The article concludes that this is a major drawback for the phone, making it difficult to recommend despite its other features.
In conclusion, the Jio Phone has some good features, such as the Google Assistant and decent camera app. However, its pricing is a major issue, making it too expensive compared to other smartphones on the market. The processor's slowness and poor battery life also make it difficult to recommend, despite its attempts to empower every Indian with a smartphone.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys this is ranjit and in this video let's do the unboxing and have a first look at this jio phone next and there was a lot of hype about this smartphone and guys i was also excited because i thought this will be sort of a revolution or something but once i came to know the pricing of this one to be frank guys i was disappointed because uh if you uh buy this phone out of the box just like that it costs 6500 and still it's locked towards your sim so you have to use a jio sim and to be frank guys the specs are not that great for the price it's having a snapdragon 215 soc uh just two gigabytes of ram i guess they say this is the pragati us which is a new os that they have dealer but guys this is nothing but android what do you say go with a little bit of customization i would say and yes you might be hearing everywhere that this is priced for 2000 rupees guys that's actually not correct that's if you're taking it on emi in fact it's not that 1999 that everybody's quoting it's actually after that 1 999 you have to pay a 501 rupees for processing so it comes down to 2 500 rupees and i feel the processing is very high it's like taking a loan for one lakh rupees and you have to pay 25 000 rupees processing so the processing is very high and then again uh it's basically a installment for 18 or what do you say 24 months based on the plan so no way guys this is affordable phone seeing the specs i thought if they really want to make a difference they would have priced it at about four to four and a half thousand but at six and a half thousand nothing that great but anyways let's look at it but this is being targeted towards the people who simply cannot even pay that six thousand rupees or six thousand fahrenheit and mostly this will be sold over that uh emi offers people paying that 1900 plus 501 that's 2500 rupees initially uh and uh so if you calculate the ami cars it's not a cheap phone in fact i would say the redmi in the xiaomi is if you're paying that 7000 rupees or whatever you can far far far better phone in fact first impressions guys the phone is super super light entirely made up of plastic i doubt the battery will be there it's actually super light so back it's typical plastic guys uh fortunately the back camera is a 13 megapixel um so that is decent i thought it might be just 5 megapixel we also have a secondary microphone over here 3.5 mm headphone jack and the screen again as you can see pretty big thick bezels on it uh front i remember if it is eight megapixel so camera should be okay because underneath it's running the google camera so hopefully the image processing should be good but the processor again is the snapdragon 215 and this is a pretty old processor guys based on 28 nanometer process and another thing that i did not like is this one is having just a 3 500 milliamp hour battery so in terms of battery life also they have cut corners as you can see this is that battery this actually phones remind me the unboxing when i started my channel in 2011 this is how the phones we used to get something like that so if we had to open the back see it's been such a okay here we have it and then i've almost forgotten how to open these phones like this so we have a small indent so nostalgia and again guys uh it is dual sim as you can see 71 and sim 2 but guys just note this you have to use the jio sim in the sim slot one and the data it's going to use is only from the jio sim seconds and yes you can put atl whatever but will not use the data and you need to have the jio sim in this to work so it is indirectly locked to jio sim and that is at that price point i i don't get it so anyways this is what it is uh this is a old micro usb cable and luckily we get a charger again they have the jio branding even on this one let me just remove this and guys this is a 7.5 watt charger that we are getting in the box so that's what we get i'll just keep that to the side so here as you can see and let's just power this on and it's again we'll have a lot of jio branding jio apps on this one and if you look at the back here it gives us the specs and all those things this one is having a 5.45 inch hd plus display and 2 gigabytes of ram and just 32 gb of storage and guys it's running android goes so yes it'll consume a little bit less resources and yes it'll have multi language set up so let's just click this and say jio phone next but what do you guys think about the pricing uh so again this is pragati os they're claiming this is nothing but android go but they have added some layers on it for example translate and all these things to make new people who are jumping on the smartphone bag and wagon to make it very easier it also has a talk function and all those things so i'll just set this up and then we will continue guys so guys i've set up this phone and i've actually used it for a while in fact i went out also so let me give you my quick thought what do i feel about this one so here is the phone and again as you can see uh this one does have that thick bezels that's why a 5.45 inch screen that you're getting and again this gives you that nostalgia of older phone because of the removal battery no fingerprint or anything so you have to rely on your older pins but in terms of software first let me talk about the good parts what i liked is that apart from jio stuff of course it has all the jio apps it's a jio phone no extra bloatware or those silly apps that we are getting bloatware chunk apps that we are giving getting those are installed apart from the jio stuff that you can see so that way i would say it's like a nice no extra rubbish bloatware but one thing that i did not like on this one again there is a little bit of lag as you can see yes that's snapdragon 215 guys as you can see if you scroll even basic stuff it will actually there is a half a second or a one second delay for a lot of stuff you have to get used to for even twitter it's a very simple app as you can see if i scroll it it hesitates and just yes as you can see so yeah so the lag will be there and this reminds me of many of the phones that we used to get android phones about five six years ago that noticeable lag or something that's what i'm noticing okay the next thing is you have those quick toggles and all this thing but everywhere this is written device provided by financer again even in the notifications it's always there so this is something that it is there and again guys if you take it on finance or something it clearly says that the device can be logged if you stop being that emi or something so that is again uh so some of these issues and again this is so that is always there so quick toggles and other things so you have to be aware of that but good thing is that under the hood if you go again over here this is fairly clean experience over here closer to that stock android experience again as of today it's nothing but android go uh so that's what you have so basic stuff and if you go to about the phone this is actually running android 11 out of the box and a decent september security update that you're getting so that way it's nice but again you will notice some ui lags as you can see because available ram is just two gigabytes and that snapdragon 215 is very very old chipset it's too early to talk about the battery i've i charged it about 60 i was out for about two and a half hours now it's at 47 uh so it's too early but again i don't think so the battery life will be that stellar they should have gone with at least four thousand five hundred to a five thousand milliamp hour battery on this one uh because this snapdragon 215 is using a 28 nanometer process so it consumes a lot more battery than modern uh chipsets uh so yes apart from that lag if that is noticeable everywhere uh now let's talk about some of the good things again i tried even youtube on this one and i'm just going to uh play my own video so the entire footage will be that so that you can get an idea as you can see camera performance in respect to video of the iphone it works and i can even set the video quality to 720p or even 1080p i wish it was louder uh but it gets the job done so youtube videos it's fine again that minor lag is always there now let's talk about one more good thing that they have done they're called this pragerty was these are some of the things that they have planned uh for example if you are this is a normal uh web page i'll just put this there's that slight sluggishness touch response is okay uh so let's say this is an article you were reading now let's say you can do a few things now if you press multitasking button you get these extra things so you have this translate option also in this if you press this it's just scratched because of the two gigabytes of ram but it should work okay ah no it's going to work so yeah again i translated to hindi language as you can see then the translation works very well so these are some of the things that it does basically it's using google lens but it's integrated very well for a novice user i would say in that area they are doing a good job and you you have an options of quite a few languages also i have said it to hindi so just press it and it translates on the flag so these are some of the good things another thing that people might like to say it's there they don't want to read and you can also hit this listen option and it's gonna take a couple of dot economic times dot com slash double a less than accumulating on multiple fronts beijing and it does it well nuclear arsenal its advances in space cyber and missile technologies and threats to taiwan so as you can see you can read it so these are some of the things that it does well so i appreciate that i just wish the volume level would have been louder yes in this room where there's hardly any uh sound it's loud and clear but outdoors where people will be using it like this uh it can be a little difficult again it also has google assistant so that functionality is there so the google assistant works so you can do a lot of things with voice also you can just name a person and it will call that person if it's an address book so that way they have done a good job but again the processor is sluggish so for even simple stuff it will uh lag a little bit and don't if you want to do a lot of multitasking many of the apps will boot out of the memory so that is a normal thing that you expect with this one uh no fingerprint scanner so always you have to use this and okay i get this phone why what is this phone for this is people for people who haven't been used to smartphone these this smartphone is for people who are just using a regular what do you say feature phone uh and their reliance is actually targeting them but i think so uh they got the pricing totally wrong if you look at the full price of this smartphone it's at 6500 rupees and i feel that's very high for what specs this one has you can get far far far better phones from redmi or even real me at that this price point in fact in the description i'll try to give some links for other smartphones in this price range that has done better but uh reliance people and everybody else will be marketing this smartphone with that 1999 offer but again it's not 1999 you have that 501 rupees processing fee so it comes down to 2500 and also reliance doesn't have any special super plants there also they are charging quite a bit of high premium for people who are opting for those emi plans of 18 or 24 months so for most of the popular plans the after two years this phone works up to about 8500 to almost 9000 rupees which is very high and i think so they are just missing the whole point reliance should have brought some very special aggressive what do you say emi plans if they really wanted to provide every indian user with a smartphone but i think so they missed that opportunity with the smartphone uh i hope they correct it because if you recall even the jio fiber when was initially launched the plans were really stupid with stupid pricing but quickly after four or five months reliance rectified those pricing and got the pricing right so i hope they do the same with this smartphone 6500 is just too high for this one four to four and a half thousand would have been just okay for people and also that emi plants should have been very very aggressive right now it's simply not that aggressive so i feel it's a missed opportunity i was also expecting a lot with this smartphone but uh what we have with the current pricing and stuff ah it's difficult to recommend but uh let me also uh show you the camera app the camera app is actually pretty decent on this one and in fact because it's uh using the indirectly uh google's processing on this one the performance of the camera is decent it has even the photo and the portrait mode i took some samples outdoors when i was out so here are some of the samples and as you can see the rear facing camera is okay it's not outstanding or something but again it's not garbage also as you can see guys these are taken in indoor artificial lighting and it came out decent i would say but moving to the front facing camera again okay but there is that quite a bit of shake in the photographs uh so front facing camera could have been better hope it improves with updates but camera again i will i can't complain for the pricing guys it takes in a pinch if you want to take a photograph for example like this box is there you want to take a photograph or something document you can easily do that and the result is okay so that way i won't complain but overall i would say for the price of 6500 as it is i simply cannot recommend it it comes with too many restrictions and the pricing is not right the processor is super very slow sluggish performance battery capacity is 3500 mah which is with this kind of processor it will simply not give that great battery life so overall i would say the thought was good empowering every indian within a smartphone but the execution what they did with the current pricing is seriously wrong and at six thousand five hundred rupees that full price i i feel we have better alternatives in the market like the red means xiaomi's all the real me anyways guys uh that's it for this video of the jio phone next what do you guys think about the same do let me know in the comment section below and guys if you're still not subscribed to the youtube channel hit that subscribe button this is ranjit and i hope to see you in my next video take care guyshi guys this is ranjit and in this video let's do the unboxing and have a first look at this jio phone next
