Samsung Galaxy J7 Exynos (Indian Variant) Benchmarks & FAQ

Introduction to the Samsung Galaxy J7

This is Ranjit, and I have the Samsung Galaxy J7 with me today. In this video, we'll be doing some benchmarks and answering some frequently asked questions about this device. Please note that this is a pre-production unit, and the firmware is not final, so the benchmarks might be up or down by 5-10%. However, it should give us a general idea of how this device would perform in benchmarks.

The Galaxy J7: A Different Variant for India

The Samsung Galaxy J7 is available in different variants, and the one I have here is specifically designed for the Indian market. This variant comes with an Exynos processor that's 8-core and very new to the market. The model number of this device is SM-J700F, and as you can see, it has a board with the same number, indicating its authenticity.

The Processor: A New Kid on the Block

The Exynos processor in this Galaxy J7 is a relatively new addition to the market. It's an 8-core processor that's designed to provide better performance and efficiency. However, most benchmarks couldn't detect it, but fortunately, Quadrant was able to detect it as you can see. The processor operates at 1.5 GHz and has a minimum frequency of 400 MHz. The device also comes with 1.5GB of RAM.

Benchmarking the Galaxy J7

To get an idea of how this device would perform in real-world scenarios, we'll be running some benchmarks. I'm a firm believer that benchmarks don't always translate to real-world performance, but it's still interesting to see the scores. First, let's look at the results from Quadrant. As you can see, the Galaxy J7 scored 2,665 points in this benchmark. We also ran the popular AnTuTu benchmark, and our first run gave us a score of 37,524. However, after running it again, we managed to get a max score of 37,871, which is quite impressive.

Running Geekbench

Next, let's look at the results from Geekbench. In the single-core test, the Galaxy J7 scored an impressive 680 points. The multi-core test gave us a healthy score of 3,593 points, indicating that this device has plenty of processing power. We also ran another benchmark, PC Mark, which gave us a score of 4,077.

Testing Multi-Touch and USB OTG

One feature that's become increasingly important in modern smartphones is multi-touch support. The Galaxy J7 supports up to 10 multi-touch points, making it easy to navigate and interact with the device. We also tested the USB OTG (On-The-Go) feature, which works seamlessly without requiring any third-party applications.

LED Notification Light: A Missed Opportunity

Unfortunately, this device does not have a physical LED notification light, which is a feature that many users find convenient. However, it does come with a front-facing LED flash that can be used to illuminate the screen when needed. We'll be discussing more about camera performance later in the article.

Outdoor Mode: A Bright Idea

One of the notable features of this device is its Outdoor Mode, which automatically adjusts the brightness of the screen based on ambient light conditions. When enabled, it becomes incredibly bright and easily visible even in direct sunlight. This feature is a welcome addition to any smartphone.

Camera Performance: The Star of the Show

The camera performance of this Galaxy J7 is one of its strongest selling points. With a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and an f/1.9 lens, it's no wonder that we're excited about the results. We took some sample photos to demonstrate the device's camera capabilities, and as you can see, they're impressive.

Conclusion

That's all for today's article about the Samsung Galaxy J7. We've seen how this device performs in benchmarks, its multi-touch support, USB OTG feature, lack of LED notification light, and Outdoor Mode that adjusts to ambient light conditions. The camera performance is one of its strongest selling points, with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and an f/1.9 lens.
