**Meta's Quest 3: A New Frontier in Virtual Reality**

The latest innovation from Meta is the Quest 3, a virtual reality headset designed to push the boundaries of immersive experiences. The Quest 3 is aimed at different markets and users than its predecessor, with a focus on mobile games, fitness apps, and entertainment. This includes dedicated lightweight VR games and applications that allow users to navigate through real 3D space while using the device.

The Quest 3 features two cameras that can pass through full-color depth-accurate images to the screens, enabling users to interact with virtual objects in a more realistic way. The processor on board is a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2, which Meta claims can deliver double the performance of its predecessor along with 33% more memory. This results in a device that is essentially a phone strapped to your face with really good screens and lenses.

However, the Quest 3's adoption may be hindered by the need for a Meta account, as well as potential issues with PC integration. Specifically, Valve's next moves are likely to play a significant role in determining the headset's success, particularly among PC enthusiasts. The Quest 3's price and availability have yet to be announced, but it is clear that Meta is positioning the device as a premium product.

**A Rare Glimpse of Jensen Huang's Day Job**

In a bizarre twist, Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang returned to his day job by serving breakfast for 100 people at a Denny's restaurant. According to reports, Huang carried up to 10 plates on his arms at once, an impressive feat that has been corroborated by multiple sources. The event was reportedly held at a Denny's location where Nvidia had partnered with the restaurant to promote themselves.

Huang's experience in the restaurant industry is said to have taught him humility and the importance of hard work. Specifically, he noted that working as a dishwasher, bus boy, and waiter had given him an appreciation for the value of carrying multiple coffee cups at once. The anecdote has been widely reported, with sources claiming that it was not officially sanctioned by Nvidia.

**Denny's Launches Trillion-Dollar Incubator Program**

In a separate development, Denny's announced the launch of its trillion-dollar incubator program. The program allows individuals to submit their business ideas and receive a $25,000 investment from Denny's in exchange for a photo of themselves at one of the restaurant chain's locations.

The program is seen as an attempt by Denny's to promote itself and generate buzz around its brand. While the investment amount may seem small compared to the trillion-dollar valuation of Denny's, it represents a significant step towards supporting entrepreneurs and startups. The terms of the program have not been made publicly available, but interested parties can submit their ideas through the company's website.

**The Reality of Jensen Huang's Coffee Cup Feat**

In an effort to verify the accuracy of Jensen Huang's coffee cup feat, NVIDIA reached out to sources within the company to confirm or deny the claim. The response was positive, with multiple sources confirming that Huang did indeed carry up to 10 plates on his arms at once.

However, the details surrounding the event remain unclear. NVIDIA officials declined to comment further on the matter, citing concerns about the accuracy of their sources and potential legal implications for sharing internal information without permission. Despite this, the anecdote has become a memorable footnote in Huang's already storied career as a tech industry leader.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey everyone welcome back to another Hardware news recap for the week in this one we'll be talking about counter- strike 2 finally launching their goal summer of 2023 reality close enough but it's out now and Nvidia has some numbers for reflex in the game as well so we talking about that additionally Intel and it's Raptor Lake refresh once again in the leaks and Rumor Mill uh at this point the most recent update we've given is that it's rumored to be launching in mid October and the newest leak talks about frequency the i7 looks like it might be the most interesting i7 Intel has launched in a long time depending on the pricing ryzen 8000 has also been sort of spotted or at least a mobile variation of it uh and Intel meteor Lake not for desktops sort of before that this video is brought to you by thermal Grizzly and the cryos sheet graphing pads these cryo sheets are molecularly stacked in the z-axis to encourage vertical direct thermal trans transfer from the IHS to the cooler cryos sheet pads are made to be easily applicable for a thermal interface and completely avoid paste dry out because it's not paste it makes them particularly useful for lawn service life systems with minimal maintenance they come on multiple sizes for suitability on the most common laptops and desktop CPUs and you can learn more at the thermal Grizzly cryo sheets at the link in the description below first up a quick GN store update we're doing a 10% donation drive to the charity cat Angels which is a no kill cat shelter we've worked with them a lot over the years I think probably going on like 5 years now uh and we've done a lot of these for them in the past so if you've been around on the channel you'll recognize the name but what we're doing here is 10% of the total GN store product revenue for the next couple weeks will be donated directly to cat Angels which is a local shelter to us we've been there we actually brought them a computer years ago for their check-in and adoption system they reached out to us just this past week and said that their landlord changed uh and the new one changed some of the rules so they have to move they found a new location and moving's expensive and we said Well we'd be happy to do a drive and help you out so anything you buy on store. Gamers access.net for the next couple weeks we're going to take 10% of that total store product revenue and give it straight to them and of course you can also just donate directly to them if you'd prefer to go that route uh so they get all of it and we'll link their site Below in case you want to do that now alongside this we are launching our front only version of this shirt this was our disappointment design for last year where we did the disappointment PC build this is the front only so it's got the glitched out back with the of course brg version of the front we couldn't do RGB uh maybe it's patented it was a Le and Lee reference uh so it's got the glitched out gpus on the front and that's the front only design a lot of you have been waiting for since we launched the disappointment build shirt if you want to grab that that's on the store right now support test Direct ly and for the next couple weeks it also supports cat angels and then we also added some women's v-necks to stock on the store so we don't have a ton of them but we added some and if you want to grab one they're up there now on store. Gamers access.net okay counter- strike two this is the big story for the week so CS2 has finally launched fun fact there are two cs2s right now we'll get to that in a moment and Counter-Strike Global offive is debt so the death of csgo here it's it's really interesting where they've done a full switch over and effectively converted csgo into CS2 uh this new version of valve's immensely popular FPS launched this Wednesday it again completely replaces csgo and its Legacy spanning over 10 years at this point and the switch over choice is interesting because it avoids a Schism problem that Valas faced in the past we're moving from 1.6 to Counter-Strike Source I was part of that move I remember it uh a lot of people stayed behind because they preferred the older title especially during the early days of source when it was sort of working itself out the same thing happened from Source where you had a lot of players choose one title over the other and it splits the player base so this kind of solves that forcefully and uh it creates a situation where valve can carry everyone forward a CS2 features several technological updates over its predecessor including a move to the source 2 engine it also moves from DirectX 9 to DirectX 11 it overhauled The Tick system so it now has ious game updates and there's new volumetric smoke grenades that react to grenades and gunshots the graphics and audio have also been completely overhauled while leaving map layout mostly unchanged for familiar Maps Gunplay should be identical as far as we're aware right now other than maybe balance changes and all of the items and cosmetics from CS go are also moving to CS2 so there's no repurchase required for any of those Nvidia put out its own update because it couldn't let valve have the spotlight on on its own here and this one talks about how the company worked with valve to keep the latency as low as possible particularly Nvidia focuses on the reflex system Nvidia claims the click to frame latency to be as low as 5 milliseconds with an RTX 490 that said that latency will come down with lower frame times and therefore higher frame rates regardless of other pipeline improvements so for a like for like comparison Nvidia shows a gameplay scenario locked at 60 FPS going from 49 milliseconds down to 32 with reflex turned on ideally we'd like to test this for ourselves we're trying to find some time to do it but we're not sure yet just because there's a lot of launches of games and Hardware right now if we did do that testing though one of our plans would be to look at amd's Hardware as well because they have their anti-ag solution so it'd be good to get a refresh look at both of them and not just nvidia's cards uh we'd probably put Intel in there to some extent as well and CS2 doesn't feature any other Nvidia technology so you won't find Ray tracing you won't find dlss frame generation or Ray reconstruction ction in there uh confusingly there's another CS2 coming out right now we've seen a lot of requests for CS2 testing in the last few months and eventually we became aware that people meant two different things City skylines 2 and counter- strike 2 uh we will likely be adding both to our CPU Suite it depends how GPU intensive they are so if they're more CPU bound then we'll put them in the CPU Suite if they're more GPU bound we'll put them in the GPU Suite or maybe both uh if we're able to get the settings to work the way we want for that all right next newag wants to buy your old gpus maybe so newag has launched a tradein website and it's for gpus specifically this is an initiative where new says you can find a home for your old GPU uh maybe maybe we should do the donation drive for them it's like CAD Angels except for gpus and it's uh instead of a charity it's actually just it's completely for profit because it's new way uh so they say you can find a home for your old cards and quote make space for something new we think this is more along the line of GPU sales for new gpus are have plummeted to alltime or near alltime lows over the past years or so now and at this point that is for we think three reasons one of them is a lot of people bought gpus in 20120 and 2021 and they haven't had a compelling reason to upgrade yet another one is that vendors have done their best to price people out of upgrades and we're only just now starting to get the the mid-range cards and then the the third reason we think is that there's been a flood of excellent secondhand card prices and options as the uh the mining boom has kind of collapsed and as the early 2020 surge has moved to the secondhand market so new's trying to take some of that secondhand Market we don't begrudge them for that and it's kind of like the GameStop tradein style route it's an interesting concept so let's look at it new's dedicated landing page covers the process it's actually fairly transparent for some of the the pricing which we like first off customers can only trade in a card as part of a new GPU purchase so newag is not just fencing Parts here each new sold new condition GPU product page has a dedicated button that launches a popup to check if the Shopper's current GPU is eligible it has a series of drop downs that you can navigate and if the system is satisfied it'll produce an offer of tradein value the full pricing table is also on the landing page it ranges from a pitiful $30 for an R 5500xt to $561 for an RTX 390 TI these values aren't even on par with recently sold listings on eBay but like with phone or game trade-ins the idea is that you're giving up some of the value instead for convenience and of course to leave as much margin as possible for new EG itself to probably resell them on its own store an important note here is that not every single GPU manufacturer or skew is eligible the Nvidia Founders Edition for example is not on the list of cards no's interested in at least right now brands that aren't normally in the North American market like gainward aren't even on the list after getting a tradein value customers need to proceed with the new GPU purchase for the full price New Egg will provide a shipping label for the tradein which is a nice touch so they're not making you pay for the shipping and the customer sends the old card to be reviewed by newc at that point newc either accepts or rejects the trade in GPU and we took a look at the terms and conditions it has some language that leaves the door open for New Egg to lower the offer after inspection based on condition or any similar Factor so it would be interesting to know if the company would still accept a dirty or a marred item that's otherwise completely functional now our understanding is that this is for working cards so sending one in with three broken fans probably isn't part of their idea for this the worst parts of the terms are under the rejection section in which new gives itself the power to dispose of trade-ins under certain conditions extra damaged incomplete or incorrect items can all technically be just disposed even though depending on who you ask since the transaction is not yet complete uh they might still be considered property of the customer who sent them in at that point additionally if new attempts to return a rejected item to the customer but the carrier marks it as undeliverable for example if you miss a signature or there's a wrong address the new can just get rid of it without a second attempt to ship it back while the company would likely call all this language boiler plate or something similar it can be boiler plate while also being potentially anti-consumer the only small carve out we found is for an item that isn't the exact version listed but is otherwise eligible for trading newag may still accept it in that case so couple things here uh those issues aside and assuming fair treatment it's hard to be too upset at the program as a whole because the consumer has responsibility you really need to check if you're getting fair value for things when you do trade ends with companies that act as middlemen and it makes sense because you bring your game to GameStop it's a well-known meme at this point that you're not going to get good value for it you're going to bring them 12 games they're going to post them for $30 each and then you're going to be offered whatever a couple bucks each in some instances so obviously you need to look into your own value do your own research on that uh the service they're trying to provide in theory would be acting as a convenience factor so that you don't have to deal with either eBay or Facebook Marketplace or whatever it is but we'd encourage you obviously to look into the value to make sure it's at least close to what it's worth and then at that point it's up to you to consider is it worth the time to try and sell it yourself and make maybe an extra couple hundred bucks in some cases versus if it's only going to be an extra $30 and you get a free shipping label anyway maybe just send it into newe our biggest concern was with some of the rejection terms and technically so you send it in if it gets re-eval valuated and they say oops we offered you too much money at first looking at this card in front of us we think it's worth $500 instead of $561 to us it seems like that should be a trigger where the customer can say oh in that case never mind give it back uh I I'll go somewhere else thank you but it's not really 100% clear how easy it would be to do a a take back is are there is there a no takebackspace Into The Ether some of these products might disappear based on some of the wording so anyway we're curious what you all think of this one uh if anyone uses it let us know how it goes but next one rumors of Intel Raptor Lake refresh this is a very brief story and so is the one after this so there's a new rumor surrounding the 14th gen desktop CPUs these are supposed to be coming out in the next month or so apparently and this is of a potential 6 GHz clock for the 14700 KF now previously we talked about 6 GHz clocks on higher spec CPUs like the 149 but 6 GHz on the 14700 K KF combined with the 14700 specific increased core count could make it one of int's most interesting gaming CPUs in a while it'll depend on price bench leaks on Twitter posted a geekbench report finding including some results from The Benchmark on The Benchmark website the average frequency was reported as 592 mahz with a Max of 5985 assuming that number can be trusted now in another very brief leak Tom's Hardware posted a mini for Forum V3 spec listing so this spec listing is for a tablet and the most interesting part is that Mini's forum and the spec sheet list the processor as AMD hawkpoint 22 to 28 Watts with hawkpoint here being a previously unnamed and unknown code name that would be the 8,000 series of apus probably following the Phoenix Point apus previously other specs for the system included lpddr5 uh at 6400 and a standard assortment of IO next one Intel meteor Lake won't be com to a traditional desktop socket despite what Intel's thanks Steve Executive Vice President and general manager of the client Computing group Michelle Hol housee said during an interview with PC World in that interview PC World asked uh basically three times offering the opportunity for clarification with each subsequent ask uh whether meteor Lake would arrive to desktop CPUs and Hol house confirmed that yes it would be arriving because previously the understanding was that this is a mobile only architecture Hol house went so far as to say that they wanted quote One processor family top to bottom for both segments One processor family to rule them all Hol house said One processor family to bind them engagement challenge I really want to know which of the three big silicon companies would be smeagle here please tell us in the comments Nvidia Intel or AMD those are your options vote on it PC World asked told house an additional two times about this topic looking to clarify that the question was uh properly conveyed and this statement didn't leave any room for interpretation upon responses meteor Lake will be coming to Desktop Intel had just inadvertently leaked plans for this product computerbase followed up with inel on the topic and after asking several times and three days of waiting computerbase eventually got a response from Intel wherein Intel said quote meteor lake is a power efficient architecture that power Innovative mobile and desktop designs including desktop form factors such as all-in-one or AI we'll have more product details to share in the future end quote so with that statement Intel is implying that in the PC World interview Hol house originally meant those were all in one desktops where the PC is built into the board on the back of a monitor as computer base also points out Intel has enough on its hands for the desktop segment between the upcoming 14th generation Raptor Lake refresh and AOL Lake in 2024 so to make it really clear then and we also contacted Intel and got confirmation of uh more or less the same thing they said to computerbase no meteor Lake will not be a well technically they said meteor Lake will be arriving in aios um our interpretation of that is no it will not become into a desktop socketable platform otherwise maybe they would have said there's no clarification needed all right next one met 3 and mixed reality headsets everyone's favorite company meta which isn't Facebook look the other way is launching a NextGen AR or VR headset called The Meta Quest 3 this is launching October 10th for $500 or $650 depending on the included storage that's competitive in the world of head-mounted displays and it likely has to do with the fact that users still need a totally not Facebook meta account to use it and the associated Telemetry data that meta almost assuredly will collect just like the meta Quest 2 before it the quest 3 is primarily intended to be a standalone device featuring compute storage and Battery on board with wireless connections to the two touch plus controllers those run on ablea batteries the headset does support connections to PCS via the meta Quest Link cable and airlink to quote unlock yet another level of gameplay but the product page has no PC connected uses on display the resolution is 2064 X 2208 per I Which is higher than the Quest 2 and the 1440 x600 of the valve index refresh rate is 90 HZ standard or 120 HZ experimental remember that hitting at least 90 HZ is critical in head-mounted displays to avoid uh becoming nauseated movement tracking is handled inside out from the headset itself rather than with base station set up in the room so that's an ease of use win for the new meta hmd as well it's also lighter they say 515 G compared to the index is 809 G battery life on the quest 3 ranges from 1.5 hours in quote productivity mode or 2.4 hours in gaming and 2.9 hours in media consumption the index being tethered has infinite runtime these comparisons are useful as a point of reference as well but the two products are clearly aimed at different markets and possibly different users meta really wants to push the quest 3 for what it calls quote immersive experiences including games fitness apps and entertainment that essentially means mobile games dedicated lightweight VR games games and stuff like watching movies The Quest 3 seems more like a Downs speec version of Apple's Vision headset with heavy mixed reality or augmented reality features fortunately the quest 3 can't display an uncanny rendering of your own eyes on the outside to freak out everyone around you so it has that going for it the front of the device has two cameras that can pass through full color depth accurate images to the screens enabling the user to navigate through real 3D space while using it the processor on board is a Snapdragon xr2 Gen 2 which medic Claims can deliver double the performance of The Quest 2 along with 33% more memory totaling 8 GB it's basically a phone strapped to your face with really good screens and lenses now on paper this should be one of the best VR headsets on the market but locking it behind a meta account and the potential for subpar PC integration will be the primary hurdles for its adoption especially in the PC Enthusiast crowd and of course waiting for valve to make its next moves as well up now Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Juan returned to his professional routs by serving breakfast for 100 people at a Denny's restaurant Juan is said to have carried up two 10 plates on his arms at once and no this isn't a joke and yes Nvidia is okay the rare sighting of Jensen at his day job comes from Brian katenzaro nvidia's VP of Applied deep learning research unfortunately there's no video of the 10 plates thing we looked a lot and we couldn't find one this whole story was just weird but kind of amusing uh so why not Nvidia and Denny's held a joint event at the same restaurant where apparently and we didn't know this Jensen uh Juan many years ago along with Chris malachowski and Curtis PR had an early discussion about the idea of Nvidia as a company and its first processor the point of the event was for Denny's to promote itself obviously but it also unveiled a plaque on one of its booths in the restaurant dedicating it to the trillion dollar company frankly the fact that these two companies can work together to promote themselves in this fashion is unamerican the real American way would be for Dennis to say you sat in our booth that's our trillion dollar company Juan is quoted as saying quote Denny's has taught me so many lessons I was a dishwasher I was a bus boy I waited tables no one can carry more coffee cups than I can Juan immediately followed that up by commenting that working in the restaurant industry taught him humility such as the humility of carrying more coffee cups than anyone else now you expect hard-hitting reporting from us so we reached out to Nvidia actually unironically I actually did this I I actually spent someone's time at Nvidia to ask them if they could clarify precisely how many coffee cups that is and we got two people on it and they both tried uh unfortunately we can't quote our sources they are deep within Nvidia and I don't think this was approved by legal but we did get an answer and the answer was quote it's quite a lot I think it was at 1.2 to 15 with cup reconstruction it's more yes this was a real story and yes we are actually covering it uh so that's the news from our anous Source anyway I we tried to find some actual reason to report on this uh Denny's is I can't believe we're we actually wrote a report of a restaurant in our Hardware news video but it did feature the CEO of one of the world's largest companies right now so uh Denny's is launching its trillion dollar incubator program where people can submit their business idea with a photo of themselves at a Denny's restaurant and of these will receive a $25,000 investment from Denny's now we did the numbers here and 25,000 is a lot smaller than a trillion we double checked it but maybe there's a way to make it work and to be clear we have not read the terms of this one we did read new eggs but not this one so if you plan to participate be sure to understand who owns the idea and how much of it we just thought it was a funny story because of the coffee cups thing that's it for this one thanks for watching as always subscribe for more go to store. trade in GPU and we took a look at the terms and conditions it has some language that leaves the door open for New Egg to lower the offer after inspection based on condition or any similar Factor so it would be interesting to know if the company would still accept a dirty or a marred item that's otherwise completely functional now our understanding is that this is for working cards so sending one in with three broken fans probably isn't part of their idea for this the worst parts of the terms are under the rejection section in which new gives itself the power to dispose of trade-ins under certain conditions extra damaged incomplete or incorrect items can all technically be just disposed even though depending on who you ask since the transaction is not yet complete uh they might still be considered property of the customer who sent them in at that point additionally if new attempts to return a rejected item to the customer but the carrier marks it as undeliverable for example if you miss a signature or there's a wrong address the new can just get rid of it without a second attempt to ship it back while the company would likely call all this language boiler plate or something similar it can be boiler plate while also being potentially anti-consumer the only small carve out we found is for an item that isn't the exact version listed but is otherwise eligible for trading newag may still accept it in that case so couple things here uh those issues aside and assuming fair treatment it's hard to be too upset at the program as a whole because the consumer has responsibility you really need to check if you're getting fair value for things when you do trade ends with companies that act as middlemen and it makes sense because you bring your game to GameStop it's a well-known meme at this point that you're not going to get good value for it you're going to bring them 12 games they're going to post them for $30 each and then you're going to be offered whatever a couple bucks each in some instances so obviously you need to look into your own value do your own research on that uh the service they're trying to provide in theory would be acting as a convenience factor so that you don't have to deal with either eBay or Facebook Marketplace or whatever it is but we'd encourage you obviously to look into the value to make sure it's at least close to what it's worth and then at that point it's up to you to consider is it worth the time to try and sell it yourself and make maybe an extra couple hundred bucks in some cases versus if it's only going to be an extra $30 and you get a free shipping label anyway maybe just send it into newe our biggest concern was with some of the rejection terms and technically so you send it in if it gets re-eval valuated and they say oops we offered you too much money at first looking at this card in front of us we think it's worth $500 instead of $561 to us it seems like that should be a trigger where the customer can say oh in that case never mind give it back uh I I'll go somewhere else thank you but it's not really 100% clear how easy it would be to do a a take back is are there is there a no takebackspace Into The Ether some of these products might disappear based on some of the wording so anyway we're curious what you all think of this one uh if anyone uses it let us know how it goes but next one rumors of Intel Raptor Lake refresh this is a very brief story and so is the one after this so there's a new rumor surrounding the 14th gen desktop CPUs these are supposed to be coming out in the next month or so apparently and this is of a potential 6 GHz clock for the 14700 KF now previously we talked about 6 GHz clocks on higher spec CPUs like the 149 but 6 GHz on the 14700 K KF combined with the 14700 specific increased core count could make it one of int's most interesting gaming CPUs in a while it'll depend on price bench leaks on Twitter posted a geekbench report finding including some results from The Benchmark on The Benchmark website the average frequency was reported as 592 mahz with a Max of 5985 assuming that number can be trusted now in another very brief leak Tom's Hardware posted a mini for Forum V3 spec listing so this spec listing is for a tablet and the most interesting part is that Mini's forum and the spec sheet list the processor as AMD hawkpoint 22 to 28 Watts with hawkpoint here being a previously unnamed and unknown code name that would be the 8,000 series of apus probably following the Phoenix Point apus previously other specs for the system included lpddr5 uh at 6400 and a standard assortment of IO next one Intel meteor Lake won't be com to a traditional desktop socket despite what Intel's thanks Steve Executive Vice President and general manager of the client Computing group Michelle Hol housee said during an interview with PC World in that interview PC World asked uh basically three times offering the opportunity for clarification with each subsequent ask uh whether meteor Lake would arrive to desktop CPUs and Hol house confirmed that yes it would be arriving because previously the understanding was that this is a mobile only architecture Hol house went so far as to say that they wanted quote One processor family top to bottom for both segments One processor family to rule them all Hol house said One processor family to bind them engagement challenge I really want to know which of the three big silicon companies would be smeagle here please tell us in the comments Nvidia Intel or AMD those are your options vote on it PC World asked told house an additional two times about this topic looking to clarify that the question was uh properly conveyed and this statement didn't leave any room for interpretation upon responses meteor Lake will be coming to Desktop Intel had just inadvertently leaked plans for this product computerbase followed up with inel on the topic and after asking several times and three days of waiting computerbase eventually got a response from Intel wherein Intel said quote meteor lake is a power efficient architecture that power Innovative mobile and desktop designs including desktop form factors such as all-in-one or AI we'll have more product details to share in the future end quote so with that statement Intel is implying that in the PC World interview Hol house originally meant those were all in one desktops where the PC is built into the board on the back of a monitor as computer base also points out Intel has enough on its hands for the desktop segment between the upcoming 14th generation Raptor Lake refresh and AOL Lake in 2024 so to make it really clear then and we also contacted Intel and got confirmation of uh more or less the same thing they said to computerbase no meteor Lake will not be a well technically they said meteor Lake will be arriving in aios um our interpretation of that is no it will not become into a desktop socketable platform otherwise maybe they would have said there's no clarification needed all right next one met 3 and mixed reality headsets everyone's favorite company meta which isn't Facebook look the other way is launching a NextGen AR or VR headset called The Meta Quest 3 this is launching October 10th for $500 or $650 depending on the included storage that's competitive in the world of head-mounted displays and it likely has to do with the fact that users still need a totally not Facebook meta account to use it and the associated Telemetry data that meta almost assuredly will collect just like the meta Quest 2 before it the quest 3 is primarily intended to be a standalone device featuring compute storage and Battery on board with wireless connections to the two touch plus controllers those run on ablea batteries the headset does support connections to PCS via the meta Quest Link cable and airlink to quote unlock yet another level of gameplay but the product page has no PC connected uses on display the resolution is 2064 X 2208 per I Which is higher than the Quest 2 and the 1440 x600 of the valve index refresh rate is 90 HZ standard or 120 HZ experimental remember that hitting at least 90 HZ is critical in head-mounted displays to avoid uh becoming nauseated movement tracking is handled inside out from the headset itself rather than with base station set up in the room so that's an ease of use win for the new meta hmd as well it's also lighter they say 515 G compared to the index is 809 G battery life on the quest 3 ranges from 1.5 hours in quote productivity mode or 2.4 hours in gaming and 2.9 hours in media consumption the index being tethered has infinite runtime these comparisons are useful as a point of reference as well but the two products are clearly aimed at different markets and possibly different users meta really wants to push the quest 3 for what it calls quote immersive experiences including games fitness apps and entertainment that essentially means mobile games dedicated lightweight VR games games and stuff like watching movies The Quest 3 seems more like a Downs speec version of Apple's Vision headset with heavy mixed reality or augmented reality features fortunately the quest 3 can't display an uncanny rendering of your own eyes on the outside to freak out everyone around you so it has that going for it the front of the device has two cameras that can pass through full color depth accurate images to the screens enabling the user to navigate through real 3D space while using it the processor on board is a Snapdragon xr2 Gen 2 which medic Claims can deliver double the performance of The Quest 2 along with 33% more memory totaling 8 GB it's basically a phone strapped to your face with really good screens and lenses now on paper this should be one of the best VR headsets on the market but locking it behind a meta account and the potential for subpar PC integration will be the primary hurdles for its adoption especially in the PC Enthusiast crowd and of course waiting for valve to make its next moves as well up now Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Juan returned to his professional routs by serving breakfast for 100 people at a Denny's restaurant Juan is said to have carried up two 10 plates on his arms at once and no this isn't a joke and yes Nvidia is okay the rare sighting of Jensen at his day job comes from Brian katenzaro nvidia's VP of Applied deep learning research unfortunately there's no video of the 10 plates thing we looked a lot and we couldn't find one this whole story was just weird but kind of amusing uh so why not Nvidia and Denny's held a joint event at the same restaurant where apparently and we didn't know this Jensen uh Juan many years ago along with Chris malachowski and Curtis PR had an early discussion about the idea of Nvidia as a company and its first processor the point of the event was for Denny's to promote itself obviously but it also unveiled a plaque on one of its booths in the restaurant dedicating it to the trillion dollar company frankly the fact that these two companies can work together to promote themselves in this fashion is unamerican the real American way would be for Dennis to say you sat in our booth that's our trillion dollar company Juan is quoted as saying quote Denny's has taught me so many lessons I was a dishwasher I was a bus boy I waited tables no one can carry more coffee cups than I can Juan immediately followed that up by commenting that working in the restaurant industry taught him humility such as the humility of carrying more coffee cups than anyone else now you expect hard-hitting reporting from us so we reached out to Nvidia actually unironically I actually did this I I actually spent someone's time at Nvidia to ask them if they could clarify precisely how many coffee cups that is and we got two people on it and they both tried uh unfortunately we can't quote our sources they are deep within Nvidia and I don't think this was approved by legal but we did get an answer and the answer was quote it's quite a lot I think it was at 1.2 to 15 with cup reconstruction it's more yes this was a real story and yes we are actually covering it uh so that's the news from our anous Source anyway I we tried to find some actual reason to report on this uh Denny's is I can't believe we're we actually wrote a report of a restaurant in our Hardware news video but it did feature the CEO of one of the world's largest companies right now so uh Denny's is launching its trillion dollar incubator program where people can submit their business idea with a photo of themselves at a Denny's restaurant and of these will receive a $25,000 investment from Denny's now we did the numbers here and 25,000 is a lot smaller than a trillion we double checked it but maybe there's a way to make it work and to be clear we have not read the terms of this one we did read new eggs but not this one so if you plan to participate be sure to understand who owns the idea and how much of it we just thought it was a funny story because of the coffee cups thing that's it for this one thanks for watching as always subscribe for more go to
