Resistance is futile - Amazon Fire TV Cube assimilates cord cutters and cable box users
The Amazon Fire TV Cube: The Ultimate Companion for Cord Cutters and Cable Box Users
Like a diminutive Borg ship, the Amazon Fire TV Cube has arrived in orbit and millions of people are likely ready to be assimilated with little or no resistance. For good reason, as TV streamers go, the cube looks like it may be the ultimate weapon for cord cutters and also cable box users. The reason behind this is that the Fire TV Cube will actually work in tandem with your cable box and a lot of other gear through HDMI CEC and digital device-friendly communication systems that allow you to chat up the cube TV and have it work your TV cable box streaming apps and other connected devices.
This is just the start of what makes the Fire TV Cube an exciting new addition to Amazon's lineup. The cube also features 4K HDR video output, which will push the latest TVs to their limits. Furthermore, Alexa is waiting for your every command and TV show search request, making it easy to find what you want to watch. With its advanced features and seamless integration with other devices, the Fire TV Cube is sure to be a game-changer for those looking to cut the cord or upgrade their current setup.
Availability and Pricing
The new Fire TV Cube will run at $120, but if you're a Prime member, you can snag it for just $90. Shipping is set to take place on June 21st, which marks an exciting time for Amazon's streaming device lineup. With this release, the company aims to capitalize on the growing trend of cord cutting and home entertainment.
In other tech news, DT emerging tech editor Drew PRNDL recently had a chance to get up close and personal with a new drone from Parrot called the Anafi. The Anafi looks like a dragonfly, but don't let its design fool you – it's packed with impressive features that make it stand out in the world of drones.
The Anafi's Slim Design and Advanced Camera
One of the standout features of the Anafi is its slim fold-up design, which allows for easy portability and storage. But what really sets this drone apart is its advanced camera system, which includes a 4K camera with HDR capabilities. The 4K camera is equipped with a three-axis gimbal that not only allows it to look up and down but also enables it to capture impressive video footage.
The camera features a big 21-megapixel sensor, which provides exceptional image quality. Additionally, the Anafi's camera has zoom capabilities in still modes, allowing for more variety in your shots. You can even use your phone to fly the drone or use it as a video monitor with the dedicated remote. Parrot claims that the Anafi has over a two-mile range in clear conditions and 25 minutes of flight time on its battery.
Pre-Order and Shipping
Parrot says that the new drone will start shipping in about three weeks, giving you plenty of time to pre-order yours before it hits store shelves. If you're interested in getting your hands on the Anafi, you can now do so by visiting Parrot's website or other authorized retailers.
In a related development, Parrot also showcased its Kitty Hawk Flyer electric aircraft at some point, which looks like a cross between a drone, a soapbox racer, and a seaplane. While this is an exciting new technology, we're not holding our breath for it to become a reality anytime soon – at least, not yet.
Future Developments
According to Thren, the future of Kitty Hawk's electric aircraft looks bright. The outfit has essentially bottomless funding, thanks to its passion project status and support from Google billionaire Larry Page. While this sounds promising, we're skeptical about the feasibility of such ambitious projects taking off (pun intended). Nonetheless, it will be exciting to see how Kitty Hawk develops in the coming months.
