Sony a6100 Unboxing & First Impressions

**The Unboxing of the Sony A6100: A Closer Look**

As I began unboxing the Sony A6100, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. This was not my first camera, nor was it my last, but there's something about every new device that gets me pumped up. The camera itself is quite compact, with a sleek design that fits comfortably in the hand. I have to admit, I'm not particularly thrilled about the packaging – it's your standard, run-of-the-mill box with a power adapter and a dummy battery inside. Yes, you read that right; this camera comes with a dummy battery that doubles as a power adapter.

**The Dummy Battery: A Game-Changer**

I've found myself using my Canon 80D's dummy battery for years now, and it's been a game-changer in terms of allowing me to keep the camera on at all times. With the Sony A6100, I'm glad to see that they've carried this feature over – it's essentially what allows the camera to function as if there was a real battery inside, even when it's not. This is especially useful for long recording sessions or for capturing stills in low-light conditions. The dummy battery is cleverly disguised as a regular battery, but I can assure you that it's not fooling anyone – it's just a power adapter with a fake battery face slapped on top.

**The Camera's Capabilities**

Now that we've got the basics out of the way, let's talk about the camera itself. The Sony A6100 is a point-and-shoot camera with video capabilities, making it perfect for vloggers and content creators who want to capture high-quality footage without breaking the bank. One of my favorite features is the ability to pop off the lens – it's surprisingly easy and convenient. I also appreciate the inclusion of a flash that you can quickly deploy when needed. While it may not be the most exciting feature, it's definitely useful in certain situations.

**The Video Test Clip**

I decided to record a quick test clip of the camera to give my audience an idea of how it performs. The footage turned out surprisingly well, with great depth of field and exposure control. I'm particularly happy with how the audio sounds on this camera – it's clear, crisp, and well-balanced. One thing that stood out to me was how bright the image is when recording outside; it's definitely not overexposed or washed out. The sound quality is also excellent, making me wonder if I'll ever need to use an external microphone.

**Additional Features**

There are a couple of additional features on this camera that caught my attention. Firstly, there's a microphone input, which means you can connect your own mic to capture better audio. This is especially useful for vloggers who want to separate their audio from the camera. Secondly, there's a shoe adapter on top of the camera, allowing you to attach microphones, lights, or any other accessories you might need. I think this feature is particularly handy for content creators who want more control over their setup.

**The Verdict**

In conclusion, the Sony A6100 seems like a great buy – even if it's not necessarily the most exciting camera out there. As someone who's always been an overachiever (in a humble way), I appreciate the camera's capabilities and features, which make it perfect for vloggers and content creators on a budget. Of course, this may be overkill for some users, but I think that's what makes it so appealing. If you're in the market for a new camera and want to capture great footage without breaking the bank, I'd definitely recommend checking out the Sony A6100. And if you do decide to buy it, be sure to follow me on Twitch – I'll be streaming live on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enat some point on every twitch streamer's career if you want to call it a career because for me i'm a part-time streamer but hopefully full-time one day anyway at some point in that career the streamer has to ask themselves um is it time to upgrade from a webcam to a real camera and thanks to my awesome community that time for me is now what a horrible intro i don't i don't even know what to say just just roll it hello everybody how are you today my name is david franco i am a full-time content creator across multiple platforms not so much twitch but twitch definitely helps pay the bills which is quite nice and um yeah today's video is all about twitch because thanks to my amazing community specifically shout out to a slim ny in my chat room i'm gonna i'm gonna flex him a little bit for you guys it's not about the money but i do want you to know that i i get some incredible support on my channel and last saturday actually at this point last last saturday a slim ny in my chat room donated a total of 1050. first it started with 50 i mean that alone is amazing i mean that's pretty much a brand new video game right there which is awesome but then he donated 500 i'm like what like i i don't deserve that dude like thank you so much again and then minutes later another 500 i was just speechless like i literally did not know what to say and that's saying a lot coming from someone like me who just likes to ramble and ramble and ramble and believe me you guys make that clear i talk a lot that's just who i am you know if you don't like it fast forward not a big deal but a slim and why thank you for making today's video possible he basically gave me this camera in a way so this is the sony a6100 unboxing and guys this camera right here will officially be replacing my logitech c922x i'm pretty sure that's what it's called there's there's a couple 920 models out there so yes this is officially going to be replacing that camera and to give you an idea of the current quality check this out i think i said this is in the store whoa slim dude slim i feel like i can't accept that that's insane 500 dude that is no no no no no no no okay so it's not bad right it's not bad for a low light environment i mean the logitech c922x has done a great job for the past what three years or so like i love that webcam but there are certain situations where i just want a more crisp more detailed picture for you guys you guys deserve a better experience and well for me it's a win as well because i get depth of field better color accuracy it's just going to be an amazing upgrade now with that said will i be keeping my webcam yes i will because using this camera actually gives me the ability the excuse rather the opportunity i like to call it the opportunity to introduce a new camera into my setup so maybe like my b-ray back scene i can set up i can have the webcam behind me showing my entire setup you know all one two three four monitors plus my 4k tv so i have five displays on that setup and two pcs and sometimes i just wanna you know show it off a little bit i'm not gonna lie i'm proud of my setup so i like i like others seeing everything that i've earned um so anyway with that said let's let's get into this unboxing um this is the sony a6100 there are multiple models perfect for what i'm doing um especially the sony a5100 i believe that model even though it's like four or five years old something like that it's still very popular it's extremely popular actually and it's actually a couple hundred dollars cheaper than this this cost me about 750 by the time i paid tax and all that stuff but hey you know what because of that donation i figured why not go mid-range i was thinking about the sony a6400 but that's like over a thousand dollars and i just can't justify spending that much so with the spare cash i have left over i'm finally going to be upgrading my um chair as well i almost said gaming chair because it is a gaming chair but i don't want another gaming chair i want an actual office chair something that's really really comfortable so please if you have any chair ideas let me know in the comment section right below i appreciate it i'm just trying to get past that gaming chair phase i mean yeah i'm sure there's some good ones out there but after a while i'm just like my back is killing me anyway wow we're like almost five minutes in already okay guys here we go sony a6100 and i am thinking about getting the sony zv1 for my new vlogging camera and of course that'll come out of my own money so here we go shout out to slim and why this video is dedicated to you my dude thank you again for everything you are truly incredible everyone in my twitch community is incredible why can't i get this out there you go that was one secure flap zone a good job all right and pull it out like this wow interesting i just i just kind of like how that opens pretty cool okay as usual we got our quick start guide warranty all that boring information that nobody likely reads at least i will very rarely read it we get a strap which is going to stay like this for as long as i know ooh a battery this is the sony np fw50 honestly though much like the camera strap i am probably never going to use this because guys i'm serious when i say i literally just bought this for twitch so i'm not gonna vlog with it i'm not gonna do anything with anything outside of twitch basically and that's exactly why i bought this but i'll talk about that more in a moment we also have a micro usb cable okay okay very nice i don't know what this is oh probably like a lens protector it looks like a lens protector what is that i don't know maybe we have do to do oh the sony battery charger pretty cool again probably never going to use it and of course the camera itself now i did have one issue when buying this camera not not this camera model but cameras in general for twitch i needed some kind of desk clamp desk mount that would hold this camera in a very specific location i wanted it to be centered behind my primary display but i i just couldn't find one i like at least with my standards in mind i'm like i'm extremely picky when it comes to product design like i i don't like a lot of products out there there's there's a there's a lot of junk let's just put it that way there's a lot of junk out there um so i was like wait a minute david you have all that space on the left side of your mod over your desk right and that's where my consoles used to be so now i have a tripod sitting there which i think is great i mean that's a perfect excuse to not only use a spare tripod that i didn't really end up liking all that much for videos like this uh but it's also an excuse to fill up that space of the desk and i'm gonna be mounting this camera on top of there okay here we go the sony a6100 which by the way is my first ever mirrorless camera so if i ever wanted to swap the lens i could but with that said i'm sure there's gonna be some kind of photography you know saying but david and you don't you don't want to use the stock lens in a low in low light environment situations i just know everything thank you thank you i i appreciate the advice but you guys have to look at it from from my perspective my current logitech webcam for what it is has been doing a kick-ass job in my low-light situation i quote because my room is covered in hue bulbs so it typically looks pretty good at night so this is just gonna look even better and honestly that's why i'm not too concerned with using the kit lens because honestly it's gonna do just fine okay so here we go it is sony a6100 let's take off that lens cap very nice right very very nice oh this thing is beautiful it's kind of sad it's only going to be used for twitch i mean i say that in a funny way but i'll say it again i will be getting this sony zv1 likely anyway in the coming weeks actually the coming weeks it's kind of time to graduate past the dji osmo action camera as great as it is i want something better there's a cow over there hi cal all right so we have the dial up here which i'm really never going to use viewfinder this does have a flip out screen so if i do want to see a preview of my face cam while i'm streaming i can and honestly i probably will have this on but then again at the same time i'm going to have a live preview within my obs preview window so it's not a big deal we have a bunch of controls on the back that i will likely never use we do have probably micro hdmi yep micro hdmi out which is a must now what's cool is i have dual ca now there's two cows three cows all right impressive looks like i'm gonna be having a burger for dinner joking i love cows but i also love eating cows so sorry no they're they're probably dairy cows okay guys can can we focus this is what i get for having the window open anyway you need a camera with live marco hdmi out and you need clean hdmi so what do i mean by that basically you need to output a signal from your camera while not showing all the camera info on the screen because when you do a micro hdmi out you're literally showing everything you see on the screen so this does have clean hdmi which means again the viewer won't see any of that useless camera information going around the border and if they did then it would be like right now but the camera information around my face and i don't think anybody really wants to see that and we have a nice grip over here which again i'm never gonna be using we do have a flash that you can pop up never gonna use that it's just this is literally just a twitch camera so they oh wait let's let's let's pop off the lens real quick all right let's see how this works you just push a button on the side and you twist it off boom and of course i can interchange the lenses at any given time wait for the click very nice so yes there you go my unboxing of the sony a6100 this is a very basic unboxing um i apologize if you got mad but there are plenty of more quality unboxings actually this is not a photography video focused channel but i definitely do like unboxing videos i mean products on video and sharing my experiences with all of you okay so this is the most generic power adapter i've probably ever purchased made in china that's no secret i mean it literally just says power adapter they didn't even capitalize it which kind of triggers me but it is what it is so this is a box i really don't care much about yes this is my power adapter but more importantly this is also a dummy battery fun fact i actually have a dummy battery in this camera right now my canon 80d which basically means for all of you who don't understand i'm gonna explain it right now basically this camera is constantly getting power and the canon camera actually thinks there's a battery in there but instead of being an actual battery it's a dummy battery constantly feeding power through my power outlet and well that's essentially what this is hence why it looks like a battery like it actually looks like a battery you just put it in then you plug into the power adapter put it in your power outlets and boom your camera can be on pretty much 24 7. and no this camera will not overheat when i say this camera i mean the sony a6100 um because it's not constantly recording it's it's literally going to be in standby the entire time pretty much however with that said let's stop this portion of the video and i'm going to record a quick test clip of this to give you a preview of how it's going to look alright several you just scared the crap out of me what's up z what's up you just came running out of the trees i don't know what's behind me guys how are you i am back i just did my goodwill haul for ebay my walmart haul so much clearance i actually okay come here confession i actually recorded a clip on this camera before but it was inside i wasn't too happy with how i presented myself i mean the the quality looked amazing inside but i think the quality looks even better outside but look at his depth of field look at this there's my house which i have to power wash ignore it it's the side of the tree so it's gonna build get get built up with algae and let me give you an idea of how the exposure looks behind me because it's really really bright back there not bad not bad not bad at all and the audio is surprisingly good like i i'm legit surprised at how good the audio sounds on this camera um but the thing is i won't be using this for vlogging so it is what it is oh and two things i want to talk about number one this does have a microphone input so if you don't want to use the onboard mic you know you don't you don't have to you can you can put your own mic on the camera and number two this kind of ties into point number one there is a shoe adapter on the top so you can use that to do microphones accessories lights whatever you want that's what's great about this camera i mean it is it is a point-and-shoot camera photo first video second but between those two modes and the show adapter and mic in and let's not forget the interchangeable lenses this seems like a great buy like this seems like a really good buy is it overkill for twitch absolutely but i've i've always been an overkill kind of guy i think i'm getting bit by bugs anyway guys i hope you enjoyed this video thank you so much watching and of course if you do want to buy this for yourself i'll link it right below on amazon and please follow me on twitch i stream on monday wednesday friday and saturday and it's always a good time even if you're not into gaming let's just say that so please stop on by drop a follow and say hello i appreciate it thank you so much your support means a lot and i'll see you next time peace youat some point on every twitch streamer's career if you want to call it a career because for me i'm a part-time streamer but hopefully full-time one day anyway at some my 4k tv so i have five displays on that setup and two pcs and sometimes i just wanna you know show it off a little bit i'm not gonna lie i'm proud of my setup so i like i like others seeing everything that i've earned um so anyway with that said let's let's get into this unboxing um this is the sony a6100 there are multiple models perfect for what i'm doing um especially the sony a5100 i believe that model even though it's like four or five years old something like that it's still very popular it's extremely popular actually and it's actually a couple hundred dollars cheaper than this this cost me about 750 by the time i paid tax and all that stuff but hey you know what because of that donation i figured why not go mid-range i was thinking about the sony a6400 but that's like over a thousand dollars and i just can't justify spending that much so with the spare cash i have left over i'm finally going to be upgrading my um chair as well i almost said gaming chair because it is a gaming chair but i don't want another gaming chair i want an actual office chair something that's really really comfortable so please if you have any chair ideas let me know in the comment section right below i appreciate it i'm just trying to get past that gaming chair phase i mean yeah i'm sure there's some good ones out there but after a while i'm just like my back is killing me anyway wow we're like almost five minutes in already okay guys here we go sony a6100 and i am thinking about getting the sony zv1 for my new vlogging camera and of course that'll come out of my own money so here we go shout out to slim and why this video is dedicated to you my dude thank you again for everything you are truly incredible everyone in my twitch community is incredible why can't i get this out there you go that was one secure flap zone a good job all right and pull it out like this wow interesting i just i just kind of like how that opens pretty cool okay as usual we got our quick start guide warranty all that boring information that nobody likely reads at least i will very rarely read it we get a strap which is going to stay like this for as long as i know ooh a battery this is the sony np fw50 honestly though much like the camera strap i am probably never going to use this because guys i'm serious when i say i literally just bought this for twitch so i'm not gonna vlog with it i'm not gonna do anything with anything outside of twitch basically and that's exactly why i bought this but i'll talk about that more in a moment we also have a micro usb cable okay okay very nice i don't know what this is oh probably like a lens protector it looks like a lens protector what is that i don't know maybe we have do to do oh the sony battery charger pretty cool again probably never going to use it and of course the camera itself now i did have one issue when buying this camera not not this camera model but cameras in general for twitch i needed some kind of desk clamp desk mount that would hold this camera in a very specific location i wanted it to be centered behind my primary display but i i just couldn't find one i like at least with my standards in mind i'm like i'm extremely picky when it comes to product design like i i don't like a lot of products out there there's there's a there's a lot of junk let's just put it that way there's a lot of junk out there um so i was like wait a minute david you have all that space on the left side of your mod over your desk right and that's where my consoles used to be so now i have a tripod sitting there which i think is great i mean that's a perfect excuse to not only use a spare tripod that i didn't really end up liking all that much for videos like this uh but it's also an excuse to fill up that space of the desk and i'm gonna be mounting this camera on top of there okay here we go the sony a6100 which by the way is my first ever mirrorless camera so if i ever wanted to swap the lens i could but with that said i'm sure there's gonna be some kind of photography you know saying but david and you don't you don't want to use the stock lens in a low in low light environment situations i just know everything thank you thank you i i appreciate the advice but you guys have to look at it from from my perspective my current logitech webcam for what it is has been doing a kick-ass job in my low-light situation i quote because my room is covered in hue bulbs so it typically looks pretty good at night so this is just gonna look even better and honestly that's why i'm not too concerned with using the kit lens because honestly it's gonna do just fine okay so here we go it is sony a6100 let's take off that lens cap very nice right very very nice oh this thing is beautiful it's kind of sad it's only going to be used for twitch i mean i say that in a funny way but i'll say it again i will be getting this sony zv1 likely anyway in the coming weeks actually the coming weeks it's kind of time to graduate past the dji osmo action camera as great as it is i want something better there's a cow over there hi cal all right so we have the dial up here which i'm really never going to use viewfinder this does have a flip out screen so if i do want to see a preview of my face cam while i'm streaming i can and honestly i probably will have this on but then again at the same time i'm going to have a live preview within my obs preview window so it's not a big deal we have a bunch of controls on the back that i will likely never use we do have probably micro hdmi yep micro hdmi out which is a must now what's cool is i have dual ca now there's two cows three cows all right impressive looks like i'm gonna be having a burger for dinner joking i love cows but i also love eating cows so sorry no they're they're probably dairy cows okay guys can can we focus this is what i get for having the window open anyway you need a camera with live marco hdmi out and you need clean hdmi so what do i mean by that basically you need to output a signal from your camera while not showing all the camera info on the screen because when you do a micro hdmi out you're literally showing everything you see on the screen so this does have clean hdmi which means again the viewer won't see any of that useless camera information going around the border and if they did then it would be like right now but the camera information around my face and i don't think anybody really wants to see that and we have a nice grip over here which again i'm never gonna be using we do have a flash that you can pop up never gonna use that it's just this is literally just a twitch camera so they oh wait let's let's let's pop off the lens real quick all right let's see how this works you just push a button on the side and you twist it off boom and of course i can interchange the lenses at any given time wait for the click very nice so yes there you go my unboxing of the sony a6100 this is a very basic unboxing um i apologize if you got mad but there are plenty of more quality unboxings actually this is not a photography video focused channel but i definitely do like unboxing videos i mean products on video and sharing my experiences with all of you okay so this is the most generic power adapter i've probably ever purchased made in china that's no secret i mean it literally just says power adapter they didn't even capitalize it which kind of triggers me but it is what it is so this is a box i really don't care much about yes this is my power adapter but more importantly this is also a dummy battery fun fact i actually have a dummy battery in this camera right now my canon 80d which basically means for all of you who don't understand i'm gonna explain it right now basically this camera is constantly getting power and the canon camera actually thinks there's a battery in there but instead of being an actual battery it's a dummy battery constantly feeding power through my power outlet and well that's essentially what this is hence why it looks like a battery like it actually looks like a battery you just put it in then you plug into the power adapter put it in your power outlets and boom your camera can be on pretty much 24 7. and no this camera will not overheat when i say this camera i mean the sony a6100 um because it's not constantly recording it's it's literally going to be in standby the entire time pretty much however with that said let's stop this portion of the video and i'm going to record a quick test clip of this to give you a preview of how it's going to look alright several you just scared the crap out of me what's up z what's up you just came running out of the trees i don't know what's behind me guys how are you i am back i just did my goodwill haul for ebay my walmart haul so much clearance i actually okay come here confession i actually recorded a clip on this camera before but it was inside i wasn't too happy with how i presented myself i mean the the quality looked amazing inside but i think the quality looks even better outside but look at his depth of field look at this there's my house which i have to power wash ignore it it's the side of the tree so it's gonna build get get built up with algae and let me give you an idea of how the exposure looks behind me because it's really really bright back there not bad not bad not bad at all and the audio is surprisingly good like i i'm legit surprised at how good the audio sounds on this camera um but the thing is i won't be using this for vlogging so it is what it is oh and two things i want to talk about number one this does have a microphone input so if you don't want to use the onboard mic you know you don't you don't have to you can you can put your own mic on the camera and number two this kind of ties into point number one there is a shoe adapter on the top so you can use that to do microphones accessories lights whatever you want that's what's great about this camera i mean it is it is a point-and-shoot camera photo first video second but between those two modes and the show adapter and mic in and let's not forget the interchangeable lenses this seems like a great buy like this seems like a really good buy is it overkill for twitch absolutely but i've i've always been an overkill kind of guy i think i'm getting bit by bugs anyway guys i hope you enjoyed this video thank you so much watching and of course if you do want to buy this for yourself i'll link it right below on amazon and please follow me on twitch i stream on monday wednesday friday and saturday and it's always a good time even if you're not into gaming let's just say that so please stop on by drop a follow and say hello i appreciate it thank you so much your support means a lot and i'll see you next time peace you\n"
