The Best Wireless Chargers for your new iPhone X & 8!

Apple's New Lineup of iPhone Supports Wireless Charging: A Comprehensive Guide

For the first time, Apple's new lineup of iPhones will support wireless charging, a technology that has been around for quite some while. Thankfully, Apple chose to go with the Qi standard, which is the most popular and readily available wireless protocol around most wireless chargers, including those in vehicles and coffee shops. This means that iPhone 8 and X owners will have plenty of options to choose from.

Apple showed off its own charging mat at the September 12th event called Air Power, which can juice up three devices at the same time. However, it won't be available until 2018. In the meantime, Apple announced third-party chargers that will launch alongside iPhone 8 and will be available for purchase at Apple's online and brick-and-mortar stores.

The first is the Boost Stop from Belkin, a white wireless charger with a dedicated 6-foot AC adapter and a single LED light to let you know when your device is charging. The second is No Fees Wireless Charging Base like Boost Up, which also includes a dedicated AC adapter but has a smaller diameter and comes in black. Interestingly, the Mophie feels about twice as heavy, meaning it will stay right where you place it. Both come in at $59.99 and provide 7.5 watts of charging power, the maximum iPhone 8 and X can handle.

If those options seem a bit pricey, there is a wide variety of less expensive options on the market, both Belkin and Mophie already have chargers for sale. However, even though they cost twenty dollars less than the new versions, we would advise against them since they only output 5 watts and the Mophie doesn't come with a wall adapter. The only wireless charger I own is made by Samsung and is designed for Galaxy phones since it uses the same tech. It will work perfectly with the latest iPhones and unlike other budget options, it comes with a wall adapter and cable.

Although originally priced at $40, this charger can now be purchased on Amazon for between 15 to 25 dollars and either white or black, offering the same 7.5 watts of output as the new chargers. Another benefit is that it uses a universal micro USB connector, so you can power it with whatever cable and wall adapter you'd like, just make sure it's at least rated for 2 amps. This will allow you to use it in places they don't have wall power, like in a car.

Samsung has other wireless charging pads including some that double as a stand but those cost more and even though they offer more power, it won't be a benefit on the new iPhones. Let's take a look at a few low-priced and highly rated wireless chargers from lesser-known brands.

Anker has a budget charger with a metal frame for only 16.99 which will provide the full 7.5 watts of power. It may not look as nice or have the extra conveniences but you can't beat the price especially if you're against charging your Apple device with Samsung product. The next two are from Raph Power, both have a simple design with an LED indicator that will get the job done.

The first model has a built-in stand with two charging coils so you can charge vertically or horizontally, which is a handy option if you like to watch videos while charging. Neither comes with a wall adapter or USB cable, so factor in an additional five to ten dollars unless you have an extra one lying around. The next charger from Raph Power has a more natural look that will blend in with your surroundings, coming in at 30 dollars without a power adapter or cable.

The last charger we'll cover is sold by Hand Pro on Amazon and takes a unique approach with a design that incorporates a storage compartment like a raft. It works as a stand with dual charging coils and includes a USB cable but unfortunately no power adapter. There are a ton of options on the market thanks to Apple's decision to implement the Qi standard, most of them will support iPhone 8 and X.

The best advice we can give you is to make sure the one you buy outputs 7.5 watts for maximum charging speed. If you enjoy this video, like it and hit that subscribe button.
