have never gotten anything from youtube so let's open it oh there's one more there do you guys trust me around knives judging by the comment section i don't think so there it is it says presented to early american for passing a hundred thousand subscribers it doesn't quite match the decor of the cabin but we'll have to find somewhere to put it and it was made possible by you so thank you so much you may first want to address the elephant in the room which is my gown ron you got this for me thank you it's an 18th century style i would say it's a round gown i think and you would have worn something like this from maybe 1765 1770ish until about 1790 at the latest and he also got me this cape because i don't own a cake but i'm always complaining about being cold if i had a doll and there was a string on it if you pulled it it would just say i'm cold i'm cold all the time so thank you very much ronnie and putting contests we got the gown because uh february here in st genevieve is the colonial kings ball yes and he wanted us to go matching we needed something nice to wear all we have is a working class yeah working class so he has a red vest and he thought it would move and i'm in love with it because i look like dracula's bride which is exactly my aesthetic oh i got this uh nice blue linen vest for christmas and it's really lightweight so it keeps you cool and it breathes um a lot of my vests are made of wool and they're they're heavy and thick so this is actually quite nice i like this color on you and i actually got two of these um one of them we're going to alter to be more early 19th century appropriate so the other one will just keep it for 18th century like how it is now so if you look on this in the early 19th century they're cut off right here at the belly so i'm going to cut this off and turns out to be the exact angle for the collar so we'll take this off and trim it a little bit and attach it to the collar and it'll look like it was made that way yes we'll make do the other things i got for christmas uh that are historically related are new boots these are quite nice they are 100 real they're leather there's no rubber there's no uh modern stuff on them so you feel no cushion in the boots but i think once they get broken in they'll be a little softer the other nice gift that justine has got me is a hunting truck a dark blue one his favorite color is blue because i like blue so mine is lavender like purple it is uh quite nice and keep me warm it's uh it's not light but it's not a heavy it's a medium so these are common in the americas too for about a hundred years yeah yeah these are very nice um the other nice thing that she got me is uh what i had on at the beginning of this video is a short jacket which is common all through the 18th and 19th centuries uh it's just a jacket yeah it's very simple it's construction if you remove the buttons and you added a zipper it could even pass from modern it's so simple as it's the kind of thing that never really goes out of style the pattern is basically just a modern jacket if you were to take the pieces apart and it's wool so it is uh it's warm so those are really nice gifts i got for christmas here yeah it's raining outside if you hear that sound it's really nice to be in here right now with a fire going and us not outside in the cold for once yes yes it is it's pretty chilly it is the fire's not really good um you want to talk about i'm looking at it right now i know what i need to talk about ron made me something absolutely incredible that as soon as i walked into the cabin i was just staring at it he made me a writing desk this desk i believe he said it was made out of pine the top of it and the legs are made out of oak he stained it and the top here that's where you keep your paper there's a little lip that keeps the paper from sliding down and then if you open it up you can keep your papers here maybe some stamps up there more inkwells your pencils and your pens over here there's some side slots and i just love this this is the kind of furniture that i want to keep for the rest of my life when we move into our forever homestead i want to take this with me because it's just so petite and cute but it's really practical it's really functional the rain is really picking up outside you can hear it i'm looking out the window and i just see smoke and rain dripping down the roof we got a little pressure system today so the smoke's just falling it was cold enough to be snowing yes it's not going to be a white christmas this year we got this mixing bowl from our dearest friend candy this is a red wearable she gave it to us because she says that she was tired of seeing us mix things in bowls that are much too small so it has a design of green and a tannish yellow color on it you're going to see this in a lot of our videos we received these two paddles from a lovely lady in new york i'm not going to mention the names of those that have given us items because i didn't get their consent to share their names but you know who you are and i'm obsessed with these i am pretty sure that you don't actually use them for anything they're just decoration because if you were to put cheese or meat on them you'd have to wash them and then over time the paint would come off but we have a young girl and a young boy holding a chicken and whoever sent it she told me that this girl reminded me i reminded her of me because of the bow in her hair the ribbon in her hair i am obsessed with these i'm definitely gonna take these with us when we move into our forever homestead thank you so very much and the same lady she also sent us another piece of wall art which ron and i can't figure out what it's exactly for but we have already come up with a usage for it we're gonna screw a peg right here and another one right there and hang it on our wall and hang up our bonnets and hats on it other than that i can't think of what it could be used for if anyone has an idea let me know i think it's just wall art it's just decor i was also sent a plethora of very scary looking knives much to the displeasure of many of my viewers because i'm sure none of you trust me with knives actually this paring knife looks a lot like a sharper one that we already have maybe if we sharpen it it'll be as sharp as this one but we always are looking for these sort of knives because they are not stainless steel stainless steel wasn't around in the 1820s and it wouldn't be around for quite some time so it's almost impossible to find knives that aren't stainless steel in the general store these days you have to go to antique stores and we really appreciate you sending us these i received three cookie stamps if anyone has been watching my channel you are aware that i collect cookie stamps ron actually made me a box for my cookie stamps i guess i could show that later on camera i already did show it in the last sugar cookie video but i'll show it again and so i have a daisy flower a snowflake and a candlestick with holly leaves around it thank you so much for that i also got some fingerless gloves these are felted wool i've actually already worn them and i just got them in the mail yesterday they were made by the lady who sent them to me which is absolutely incredible because these are pro i don't see any air gaps in them whatsoever they are really really beautiful and they're very warm and they fit me perfectly so thank you so very much for these and i also received some miscellaneous wooden items which i am definitely going to keep for the rest of my life and actually put some use to it so this i'm pretty sure is a green scoop candy said she thought it was a butter paddle but i think it's a green scoop and it has a nice convenient hook so you can hang it on your wall so i'm really appreciative for this because this is a very practical item that i'll definitely use in my life something so simple but this is one of the favorite
