Unboxing the iJack+ Portable USB Audio Interface
If you're planning to connect your iJack+ portable USB audio interface to an iPad, it's essential to note that it requires USB power. If you're not hooking it up to a computer, which I will be doing so, you'll need to use a wall jack adapter that comes in the package.
Upon opening the box, we have a package of paperwork, which includes a 30-pin connector cable and an iPad connector cable. The 30-pin connector cable is specific to Apple's strict standards, meaning it's officially approved for use with iPads. However, its length is only a foot long, so you'll need to consider other third-party options or extender cables that are specifically designed to work with the iJack+. Amazon and Newegg listings often have specific recommendations and bundles available.
One of the exciting features of the iJack+ is the inclusion of Ableton Live as well as the plug-in suite. This will be a welcome addition for music producers, as it allows them to create high-quality music on the go. The package also includes a free copy of Ableton Live and the Scarlet plug-in, which can be used to further enhance your audio production capabilities.
The box also contains a pocket guide to the full range of iJack+ products, which is a thoughtful touch for customers who have just purchased one of their devices. This type of documentation can help ensure that you get the most out of your purchase and can easily navigate the world of iJack+ products.
Moving on to the contents of the box, we find a USB power adapter brick. If you're not planning to connect the iJack+ directly to an iPad, this will stay in the box as it's not necessary for use with a computer. However, I'll be using my laptop to hook up the device instead.
The package also includes a 30-pin to 2-device link cable, which is specifically designed for use with iPads. This cable allows you to connect multiple devices to your iJack+ interface and can be useful for music producers who need to work with multiple instruments or microphones. If you're using an iPad's Lightning port instead of the 30-pin connector, you'll need to purchase a separate cable.
One of the standout features of the iJack+ is its interface itself. The device has been designed specifically for guitarists and musicians, featuring XLR inputs for high-quality sound capture. The XLR input is equipped with phantom power, allowing you to connect condenser microphones or other instruments that require this feature. The interface also includes a direct monitor switch, which allows you to hear your audio in real-time.
The back of the iJack+ interface features a Kensington lock, which provides an additional layer of security and stability when connecting devices to the interface. Additionally, there are several auxiliary connections available for use with external speakers or monitors.
As I prepare to test the iJack+, I'm excited to see how it will perform in my vocal booth. The device's compact design and high-quality components make it an attractive option for musicians who need a reliable and portable audio interface on the go.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello everyone my name is ana mori postbox and i am building a small vocal booth of some sorts to do some voiceover in with a separate microphone and as far away from my main loud computers as possible ideally sort of in my closet in that corner back there it's literally as far as I can get from my computers and you can kinda see over my shoulder here I got some new sound foam to kind of soundproof some of the area but obviously I want to have some reflective services for having the bass echoed back at me the important part however though is having something Dokic my microphone off my big mixer sits over here on a table next to my desk area and is not really mobile at all cuz it's bigger than a laptop and it's huge and heavy and I just want something small I could hook up to a laptop so I decided to pick up the Focusrite itraq solo I've heard great things about Focusrite and pretty good things about this there were a lot of reviews that kept listing so many ways that the - I - from Focusrite was better but they all seemed to be things that were based on having two inputs which you I don't need I'm just hooking up one microphone so it should work fine it does say record guitar and vocals on your iPad however does work with PC and Mac and I'm going to be using it on a PC laptop not an iPad as I don't have an iPad compatible with iPad one two and third generation and presumably all future generations requires USB power if you're not hooking it up to the computer which I will be so you will need to hook it up to you know a wall jack adapter that comes in it if you're not hooking it up to a computer opening it up here we have some things in the box have a package of paperwork one mentions that there is an iPad connector cable and these are all for the origins so it's a 30 pin connector cable that comes with it is it adheres to Apple strict standards so it's you know one that they've got an official approval for for using for iPads but it's only like a foot long so they recommend some other third-party ones on their websites or there's a specific order and on Amazon there's a specific extender cable that I gets paired with it that you can get have a getting started guide it always comes with everything if a free copy of Ableton Live as well as the plug-in suite which I will have to have hidden from you here's a can't get started call for help register online blah blah blah and then there's a live copy of the Scarlet plug-in sweet and Ableton Live that comes with it and I'm pretty excited to have a free copy of that probably more than anything else that may come with it and a pocket guide to the full range of their products because since you just bought one of their products you're obviously about to buy another never understood the logic same thing with the Amazon and Newegg listings like they'll send you email saying hey you just bought some desktop memory here's some more desktop memory because obviously you still need more now those are typically one-time purchases else in the box we have a little box here which has our USB power adapter brick if you're hugging it up to just USB power for connecting it to an iPad I will not be using this so this would stay in the box as my USB cable boot will be running through the computer under the interface itself we do have in this package the 30-pin 2 device link cable for the iPads and if you are using a lightning connection you will of course have to get a cable from them as they use their own device link little end there it's not a USB port it's their own specific cable and like I said it's not even a foot long it's like three inches so if you need a longer cable you'll have to check out their website and then it comes with a USB 2.0 a to B's cable with how specific their cables are I'm actually gonna just use this one just to be safe assuming it's long enough and like I said I'm gonna be running it in my laptop to hook it up not an iPad and then we have the interface itself here with a bag of do not eat attached to the bottom of it now again this interface is for one microphone via XLR and one line in connection which is set up specifically to just really be a guitar that's what their intention is here we go is made of all-metal for the most part feels really really good got really thick rubber feeding on the bottom for your non-slip grip and stand it up on the front we have the XLR input 48 volt plus phantom power gain for the XLR line in input for your guitar gain on the guitar monitor volume knob direct monitor switch and a headphone jack for monitoring on the back you actually have a Kensington lock lock which is really neat to see SB 2.0 A or B whichever one output advice link connection and then to auxilary connections for the audio out program them up to monitors or speakers or what have you pretty nicely built and of course your little device and cable would snap in the back here presumably then it does have little grips on the side unplug it like I said not going to be using that just going to be hooking it up to a computer and using the one XLR input pretty excited to hook this up try
