I am literally so hyped I love adding to my candle collection I think what I'm going to do now is burn one of these probably touch like I said this I think this is my favorite and then I'm gonna finish off this book what a great start to a Super Bowl Sunday honestly I'm thriving I've got books I've got candles I've got goodies I might actually make some tea too so I'll be back okay

I just finished hook shot and I did end up liking this more than I thought that I would which is good I mean I thought that I would love this but like my reading experience definitely wasn't exactly what I wanted it to be that being said I think I'm gonna give this like three and a half or four stars probably I'm gonna like on Goodreads probably rate this four stars really really liked lotus's character I think she is really what carried this book for me it's not that I didn't like Keenan but I felt like he was just a little bit planned and a little bit reserved for my taste I wanted him to have like a little bit more to him he definitely wasn't like a bad Hero by any means I mean I I think genuinely Kennedy Ryan is incapable of writing a bad book but I think this might be my least favorite that I've read by her I just didn't I just didn't love the romance it was definitely a romance between two very real people I liked seeing how Keenan dealt with his relationship with his ex-wife and his daughter while also trying to maintain a really healthy relationship with lotus I love the way that he was there for her when she was kind of going through this trauma like reliving her trauma and trying to heal from it and I really liked that aspect of the book as well just Lotus like healing from this trauma going to a support group and getting the help that she needed I really I really liked the element of the story

I did not however I loved the Voodoo aspect to the story that wasn't my issue I think for me it was like the end of this book there were like two twists I guess you could say or like two big emotional beats of the story that I felt just felt a little bit so soap opera e and I don't think that's necessarily a terrible thing it's just not necessarily what I am looking for and again after reading the right move right before this book it's impossible to like not compare the two they're both basketball romances and they kind of have similar yes heroes in a sense like both reserved Heroes who have you know some like trauma relationship trauma in their past I guess in that book I felt like the plot was a little bit more original and the things that the characters were going through just felt a little bit more are real anyway I don't know I I shouldn't compare the two they're totally different books but it's like hard not to when I read that one most recently so yeah I don't know

I liked this book I thought it was good definitely grew to think that the relationship between Lotus and Keenan was like a really cute one but I think it's just not my favorite pairing amongst Kennedy Ryan's backlist and that's fine like not every book from an author is going to be five stars for me that's just the case but that being said having two four stars and one five star romance in a video I'm saying that's pretty good like I'm pretty pleased with that especially since I just finished up a patreon exclusive reading Vlog I had two three stars and one like one star so this is quite the Improvement and I just love sports romance what can I say I love KU this really like renewed my love of reading in a sense I was feeling a little bit slumpy but after this I'm feeling good

sports romances if you didn't know a new one just came out actually two new ones just came out I'm gonna be reading those plus an older title in this video and I'm just excited let me tell you about what we're going to be reading or what I'm going to be reading and you're going to be watching first up obviously we have powerless by Elsie silver this is a I don't know if it's a second chance romance but it's a friends to lovers romance I think it's going to be kind of angsty tension filled between a hockey player who is like a part of a family who owns like a ranch or something like that if you've read Flawless and heartless you kind of like know the Vibes but he is a hockey player unlike his brothers who like are ranchers and bull riders I think but he is a hockey player his best friend has been pining for him for forever and I think he finally starts seeing her in that light when she gets engaged to someone so you know I'm very excited about this one I got an arc of it so we're gonna be reading that one first then I'm going to be dipping my toes into the right move by Liz on board this is a basketball romance between two characters that we meet in the first book in the series Mile High excited about that one and then the last book that I'm going to be reading is also a basketball romance and it is hook shot by Kennedy Ryan I always get hook shot and block shot confused but I already read block shot I think it's actually like the last video before this one I read block shot but in this video I'm gonna be reading hook shot and I think it's gonna be kind of intense I think this one is a romance between a single dad I think maybe a woman who is in like some some sort of bad situation I could be wrong but I think this one's gonna be like emotionally intense um unlike block shot which was not as emotionally intense excited to read all three of these books like I couldn't have asked for a better lineup for KU romances and I think all of these honestly are gonna be four or five stars so let's go ahead and get into it I'm gonna pick up powerless and hop on bed not in bed because it's already made but I'm gonna hop on bed and read powerless because like I said I'm hyped I'm ready to go let's go okay 20 into powerless and I know I would love it like it's it's a good time I didn't expect anything less from us LC silver so this is a not Second Chance romance for some reason I keep wanting to say Second Chance romance it is a friends to lovers romance between Jasper and Sloan I will say it's a little bit less tension filled than I thought it would be I feel like in the last book we definitely got hint at the relationship between Jasper and Sloane and how she's like been pining for him for a while brought up by other characters that she has a thing for him and that he's just oblivious but in this book the dynamic is not exactly like that per se I think both characters kind of have a thing for each other maybe Sloan more so than Jasper but he is older than her which is like part of the issue I guess like she asked him to take her to prom but he was 24 and he was like yeah I'm not gonna do that now that she is you know a grown a grown lady I think she's like 25 maybe she definitely has a thing for him but at the beginning of the story she is imminently going to be married to this like total douchebag named I think Sterling or something like that and Jasper like is very much not into uh this idea he makes his criticism of this guy known and uh obviously our heroine decides to leave this guy at the altar and decides not to marry him and she's trying to kind of like lay low and hide out because her dad is the person that kind of like hooked her up with this other guy in the first place and kind of was like hey you should marry this guy because the great connection for our family I don't think it was like tractual or anything I feel like in some romances you know you have parents trying to get their kids with the children of another family so they can join families that's not really I don't think how it was in this one I don't know I haven't gotten far enough but it doesn't seem like that just seems like um you know he like wanted the best for his daughter and she just like went along with it because she knows that like her ballet career is kind of winding down she's oh no she's like 27 I think she's just trying to figure out what to do with her life she seems to maybe a little bit directionless just kind of like the heroine of the last book and I feel like it makes sense you know everybody kind of has like crises in their life where they don't really know what they're doing so um she leaves this guy at the altar and she decides she's just gonna hang out with Jasper for a while she goes to one of his hockey games he's not doing so well because one of the brothers I think Bo the one that like brought Jasper into the family in the first place for if you didn't know it's not a part of the family technically like biologically Four Brothers but one is you know adopted into the family Beau brought Jasper into a family many years ago I think back in high school Beau went missing in action in the military recently and this is kind of like with Jasper's head and so he is not performing very well on the rink on the ice our girl Sloan is there to like support him and be and be there for him so in the scene that I just read she is like waiting for him after his game where he does really poorly and when his coach is like hey you're suspended for two weeks because you need to like deal with your family stuff so I'm curious what's gonna happen like I wonder if they're going to play house in his like apartment in the city or if they're going to go back to the ranch and like hang out there liking where things are going I do think like I were to write this book I think I would want it to be even more angsty attention-filled but that's because I'm a for angst intention and I'm not saying that's not gonna happen because I know Elsie silver and like she does a good job at that I definitely think for her it's more about like the sexual tension which I'm about um but I think I wanted some more like raw emotional angsty moments up front and I think I think we're going in a different direction and I'm curious to see where things go overall like having a good time I think I'm gonna try to get to the 50 Mark tonight and uh teach you tomorrow morning but so far very very good you've been working out for eight and a half hours oh the light's not that okay it's not great um hello I just wanted to pop in while the natural lighting is still out and making my forehead look really glossy and delicious um I am with Hayden in and out drive through line um okay powerless I am 50 in and I was like a little hesitant you know what I mean like at the 20 Mark wasn't really sure how I was feeling because there wasn't a lot of like on-page relationship development because we're supposed to just assume that they like know each other since they've known each other their whole lives and I get it but yeah I was a little worried also I watched crystals like Vlog about this book which I think maybe colors my view a little bit not even colors my view like I I'm gonna feel however I want to feel about this book but she made some really good points that being said this book is for me it might not be for the girls but it's for me this man hates himself and you'll know how I feel about that do you know that I feel that way I like when men hate themselves in romance um I just think it's nice and delightful and there was a scene involving a shower stall and a man and a certain member of his body and you know I liked it a lot I thought it was nice yeah I don't really have much to say I do think this the plot is like lacking in this book a little bit right now the hero and heroine have like some hay bales on the back of a truck and they're taking them to a different Farm or something like that and I guess it's like an excuse for them to have to stop at like a bunch of different hotels and like sleep together in a non-sexual capacity but I don't care so much I like Slice of Life moments and I like a man that hates himself so am I thriving I very much am I think the trend of just like less than superb car lighting is continuing uh it is 3 30 on Thursday and I am about to go get my Starbucks because desperately need some caffeine to perk me up but I finished powerless late last night and I wanted to give you my final thoughts and feelings before I forget them not that I would forget them but I really enjoyed this book I didn't expect to not enjoy it but the beginning of the book was a little slow for me and I was just worried that the lack of like overall plot in this book would make it just like not my fave and I will say I still think I prefer heartless the best out of the the series so far I think there's gonna be four or five books just because some of the things that we learned in this in this particular book but I just really loved the relationship between Jasper and Sloan I love a self-loathing hero I mean I said it yesterday and I just like fully stand by that I really think a delightful self-loathing hero is great and I also like that the third act like conflict in this book was not a third act breakup necessarily it's just our heroin heroin having to kind of figure out things on their own and then our hero like to I guess make up for that conflict coming to our heroine's rescue sort of whenever she has to deal with some people in her life who aren't treating her well I think really my only critique of this book or like my only like kind of minor complaints again are that I wanted a little bit more on-page romantic relationship development I also wanted more in the way of plot those are two things also that Crystal pointed out in her Vlog I'll leave a link to it in the description because obviously she's brilliant and I love her Vlogs and then I also kind of would have liked to see our heroine have more of a full circle moment when it comes to her plotline hero I think could have like made some more growth and change in his own life as well but I really like to see our heroine kind of stand up for herself I did like that the hero kind of came to the heroine's rescue at the end he did kind of swoop in and it would have been really cool to see her like fully realize what she wants out of life and also um kind of fight back against the people who are trying to like hold her back that's just something that like I personally would have liked to see as someone who really likes a super strong heroines I just feel like that was such a a strong point at the beginning of the book like okay she's finally like bring something for herself by not marrying this man like I wanted to see that you know fully come full circle it didn't feel totally full circle for me but um in terms of the actual like romantic components and like The swoony Slice of Life moments that happened like I loved that and that's the kind of romance I tend to like to read anyway I don't need a huge sleeping plot you know a central thread definitely would have been appreciated but again I I like Slice of Life moments and uh yeah it's really checked almost all of my boxes I really adore this I'm excited to read some more I'm really hoping that the right move by Lewis Tom Ford the book I'm going to be reading next is just as good as this one so fingers crossed four star read like we're already off to a fantastic start and I think it's um honestly only gonna get better from here foreign it is a Saturday at around 3 3 30 p.m and I am finally doing my makeup for the day which you know betterly than never though never late is clearly always better but since I'm gonna be uh reading tonight I figured might as well feel cute while doing it so just prepping my skin gonna put my makeup on and I'm gonna talk to you about the right move because I am 50 in I was considering updating you earlier because I was instantly kind of drawn to this book and instantly liking it but I feel like my Vlogs have just been kind of lengthy lately I'm very chatty I feel like I've gotten chattier the longer I put on YouTube and uh that is not bad but also no I want to just like give you my thoughts and feelings on books without um flapping forever so just figured a 50 update on this one would be fine okay so this book's Spider-Man characters Indy and Ryan Ryan is the brother of the main character of the last book Indie is the best friend of the girl from the last book for some reason I'm blinking on her name right now we are getting to know Indie and we're getting to know Ryan and we're also getting to know them together which I am I'm really really liking so essentially at the end of the last book Indy's boyfriend we find out is cheating on her she's been with this guy for six years was hoping he proposed and we see them as kind of like a happy couple in the last book book I mean we don't see like them interact too much but we just know she's happy with her boyfriend and she's always excited to go home and see him after she is back from a Time on the road because she is a flight attendant just like the heroine of the last book um she's a flight attendant specifically for uh hockey players at the end of the last book we find out that Indy's boyfriend was actually cheating on her and had really no intention to marry her which is pretty upsetting to Indy for a couple of reasons one because she had put so much stock into this relationship too because she has diminished ovarian reserve which means that she needs to have kids sooner rather than later and she was thinking like she would have kids with this guy and instead she kind of feels like she's at back to square one she's now trying to save money to save her eggs to preserve her eggs which I think is a really interesting plot of a book I feel like this is definitely something I've heard of before you know diminished ovarian reserve and women wanting to like save their eggs and stuff but I just didn't I've never seen it in a romance before and I thought that was like a really cool touch I think that's something I really like about Liz tomboard's writing and just like her books in general is that it really goes out of her way to give characters like real life issues and real life concerns and she doesn't just skimp over them I feel like the past couple of romances I've read and I've read a lot of romances recently actually just finished three romances yesterday all of those really just like skimmed over these people's like life issues and here's the thing romance is awesome I love romance I think like the romance would be the center of every romance you know what I mean like the Romantic relationship should be the center of a romance but I like it even better when characters do have real life issues and so they're working through to see how their romantic relationship kind of plays into their actual life because people are real people you know what I mean anyway um Indy is kind of dealing with all of these things because she's trying to save money to be able to preserve her eggs it's not like covered by her insurance she wants to live somewhere cheap and she ends up living with her best friend's brother Ryan who is a famous basketball player he's in the NBA he's like one of the best players in the league he is not really excited the prospect of living with her even though he lived with his sister for a while he's like I just was looking forward to having my place back to myself and these complicating things also she's like a really great sunshiny person and he's kind of grumpy he's not like a traditional grumpy guy he's very he's very sweet like a lot of the things already that he's done for Indie is just so romantic and I'm just like so blown away by him also so this Foundation was looking so pale it's not I assure you it's like actually the color of my skin so already at the beginning of the book like I said Indy is trying to kind of save money and Ryan decides that he's not really going to charge her very much for rent but Indy doesn't really have any furniture left over from like moving out of her apartment with the last guy she was with and uh he ends up just buying her a bed like a really really nice bed because he notices she doesn't have one and this is like really early on before there's even like any sort of romantic inclinations going on and it was just so sweet and heartfelt like he really saw her and like really I don't know like I love guys who you know pay attention to details and I feel like that's definitely Ryan Shea like he is just that guy and it is such an interesting contrast to the hero of the last book who's kind of a player and is like trying to get in the heroine's pants this guy is doing the opposite he is celibate and he is just trying to live his life and then Indy just like walks in and is like hey I'm here to ruin your life not ruin your life but like switch it up and make you a better more interesting more kind individual more outgoing certainly and there's just like a pretty instant palpable chemistry between the two of them which I just really love and it's surprising only rare to find in Romance sometimes like they'll have two characters who are being smushed together by the author but it just doesn't really feel like chemistry is there and I totally totally feel the chemistry I also like how these two are like having to come together obviously there has to be something bringing the characters together besides just the fact that they're living together I mean I say that I've read some romances like this where you know they live together and like roommates is enough to justify them getting together like that in this book it's a little bit more complicated than that essentially Ryan is trying to impress the owner of the basketball team he is now the captain of the team and the owner of the of the team doesn't really love him he thinks that Ryan is a little bit too focused on basketball is not much of a family man and so they're sort of like a fake dating situation that happens between Ryan and indy Ryan like needs someone to fake date him so that he looks like more of a Family Guy and so um the owner of his basketball team actually starts to like him and then Indy needs a date to her exes not her ex's wedding but like wedding of mutual friends I guess where she knows her ex is going to be it's been really delicious and tension filled and I'm surprised that even though I'm 50 into this book there's not really been much in in the way of like sexuality I mean there has in that we have our heroin like constantly texting Stevie the rose sister and how much she wants to get with Ryan which I think is really funny we haven't really had like any I haven't had sex yet which is kind of wild uh you know 50 into a 500 page book but I think it's nice I like the again sexual attention that's being built and I'm like really rooting for these two to get together I think I might prefer this book to the first one but there's just something about Ryan's personality and his character that I really really like don't get me wrong Xander is fun but he's supposed to be like the Playboy with like a Secret Heart of Gold and that's fine but like Ryan and his sort of like stoic stay in personality is more my speed so yeah I'm really enjoying the relationship there I think it is um it's cute I'm excited to see where things go I am excited to see kind of what the main conflict of this book ends up being is it just these two are gonna fight their feelings for each other that's the only thing that I'm like sort of um question Marky about yeah there's just sort of like big dating situation and yes they're gonna have to go to this wedding together I don't think that is going to be like the conflict of The Story So I'm curious to see like what kind of makes these two apart I guess like I'm hoping it's not just like them gaining feelings for each other but um I haven't really seen any hints so far as to what the conflict would be and the last book I could definitely see the conflict coming in this book I just like don't really know that being said I'm loving all the moments we're getting between Ryan and indy I just it's cute it's a cute book I like it enjoying it I feel like I've been rambling because I have to like cut myself off every five seconds because Hayden was washing dishes in the other room but yeah I will update you when I'm finished with this book and then we can move on to the last book hookshot well picky and I here just finished the right move we both really enjoyed it I did cry I don't know if I'm just like in my emo era or if this book was really just that good but I think I'm gonna go with the latter I think this book was really just that good I'm gonna give this five big stars if I were raiding on Crystal's scale this would be a six star read for me like this was everything like I'm in love with Jay he's definitely a new book boyfriend for me Ryan Shea just what a delight what a delightful man I like I said I was really curious what the conflict of this story would be and I don't want to spoil it for you but I feel like it was very appropriate given these two characters were going through and I also feel like it wasn't a weird or like overly dramatic third act conflict it wasn't a third act breakup which I appreciated and just seeing how it was basically the emotional baggage and emotional trauma that was keeping these two apart it felt really realistic and really real and I really appreciate that that was definitely the case with the first book in the series mile high was you know I think honestly the baggage of the hero last time as well which is keeping the two characters apart that was the same thing here the hero here definitely had some some stuff in his past and he was able to kind of like tell the heroine what that was and unlike powerless it wasn't just that that was bringing the two characters together it wasn't just this like one-off omission of like here's why I am the way I am he also displayed his really positive traits throughout the story to our heroine and I just love them together like the way that this man like understood everything that she wanted and anticipated her needs and like went above and beyond for her I can't I can't this was so good this is the kind of book that like makes me so happy to be a Kindle unlimited subscriber I hate being a show for Amazon but I am just so grateful for the Indie romance Community I'm so grateful that these books exist and that authors are able to publish so easily now it's just I'm just so happy that this book exists like this probably wouldn't exist in the traditional publishing space and like I'm just so glad that books like this exist and Powerless is awesome too but um this is like Beyond I'm gonna have to buy a copy of this like immediately I think if you are someone who likes a quieter hero who is very emotional still hot in bed who like who's who's wealthy and like uses money and in good ways you need to pick this up you need to okay all phenomenal this Vlog could not be going better I knew it would but like goddamn um let's go ahead and start end on block shot because it's already like nearly six o'clock and you know I would like to finish this Vlog in a timely fashion so you can watch it bright and early tomorrow morning so I'm gonna do that I also need to figure out dinner which should be interesting we had lunch kind of late um which you saw I had some homemade tomato soup and grilled cheese and that was quite delightful Hayden made that for us but yeah I don't know what we're doing for dinner so we need to figure that out but I'll be back um in the meantime I think I'm gonna hang with these clowns I don't know what they're doing are y'all both Girl Meet wow wow beautiful gross all right I'm in my PJs it is almost 10 o'clock and I am like 20 30-ish percent into hookshot I Miss Kennedy Ryan I'm listening to the audiobook I don't know I'm not loving this I'm hoping it's just because I'm too early in so this book's better Superman characters Keenan and Lotus at the beginning of the book we have a pretty cool like badass opening I don't really want to like spoil it for anyone but we quickly learned that Lotus is working at a fashion house he's like the right hand woman to this like really great designer he's like up and coming and she is just loving her life find out though that she is like she's she's dealing with some stuff some maybe like repercussions from her childhood or something like that she has been kind of hooking up with dudes pretty regularly and now she's kind of like you know what I think I need a break from this I'm trying to just kind of like I don't know get my life together in a sense because she's finally ready I guess to deal with her childhood trauma okay and then she meets Keenan or I guess she like remeets Keenan Otis is the cousin of is it Iris in the first book so she kind of knows Keenan or she's met him once and she had like an instant attraction to him and he did as well he is going to be modeling watches that the fashion house is like collaborating on with some sort of like sporty tech company so anyway they've got him as the model heated Lotus or like kind of reuniting it he is in New York at this point because his ex-wife who cheated on him very publicly is in New York filming a reality television show and she has I think maybe like primary custody of their kid I'm not entirely sure maybe they have to wait custody but she has the kid and so Keenan feels like he has to go to New York and so he's doing this ad thing in the summer like in his off season from basketball and I I don't know like I think maybe it's the setting of the book I I don't I can't exactly pinpoint what it what it is that I'm not loving I think part of it's the setting I think part of it is like the slow pace of this book and I think part of it is that like I'm just not really feeling a chemistry between the two main characters both Keenan and Lotus are kind of like trying to stay away from each other sexually because Keenan's daughter is still kind of having issues with Keenan's divorce from his ex-wife Bridget so he's like ah like I gotta stay away from this chick that I'm attracted to and Lotus again is like trying to deal with her childhood trauma not trying to sleep with anyone so they're like kind of fighting their attraction for each other like I'm not really seeing anything beyond a physical attraction between the two of them they have had some like decent conversations I guess but nothing that I'm like wow these two are like meant for each other kind of like I felt when I was reading the right move so I don't know I'm just like I'm kind of feeling meant about this book I'm not hating it Kennedy Ryan's a fantastic writer and there are Finn moments that have made me laugh really like lotus's friends I think um they are funny and I like just hearing about her job I guess but I don't know like I'm just not I'm not enamored with like the story in the plot line I just think it's kind of like it's just kind of I wanted something a little bit more original and I was really really into block shot I think I gave that one five stars so I'm hoping that as I get farther into this book and as each of these characters kind of like Works through their emotions and the things that are Kingdom Heart that I will like get more I will say like what I was reading Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan recently I wasn't like totally into the beginning of that book but as it carried on I mean it was a five-star read for me so fingers crossed that is the case again I'm gonna keep reading honestly I'll probably update you tomorrow morning on my thoughts at that 50 Mark and I think I might do a little bit of like a haul and an unboxing for you as well I just got a ton of books from Amazon not a ton like five or six that I'm really excited to own I decided to treat myself to some like hey you paperbacks and I also have an unboxing to do for you from novel Wix there is the cutest Valentine's Day box of like candles and little goodies so I'll show you that tomorrow as well I'm going to I think just like cuddle up in my bed and listen to the rest of this audiobook or at least the 50 more again uh yeah I'll get back to you while we're riding on low battery which is never what I like to see but happy Super Bowl Sunday go Birds it is 9 30 bright and early for once I am like dressed and have my makeup done before 10. I'm I'm pretty impressed with myself I am like 50 into hook shot also I have a special visitor I have a dingo I never really have dingo down here but Hayden's at the gym so anyway 50 into hook shot and I don't know like I want to love it I really do but I'm just not that into the plot of this book because there really isn't one I do I will say okay I like the healing on the part of lotus it's clear that she is really focused on working through her childhood trauma to where she can have a successful romantic relationship with Keenan like I really love that Kanan as a character I think is kind of boring well I'm very sympathetic to his polite and I feel bad for him that his wife cheated on him I don't really understand like what's going on with him like there's there's really no plot with him he is not growing or changing or developing as a character very much in my eyes and so it's just kind of hard to like really be invested in this relationship like they've had a couple of dates and we know that introductions are imminent when it comes to Lotus getting to know Simone Keenan's daughter other than that like I just don't I don't know I I don't know what to say about this book I'm sad because I really wanted to like love this book and I'm kind of just neutral about it right now at the moment like in my head this is a three-star read it's clearly well written Kennedy Ryan's fantastic but I'm just not I'm not totally enamored with it which is such a bummer but I'm gonna I'm gonna withhold my judgment until that you know 100 where I can tell I'm finished with this book let me just do let's do some exciting stuff I think I told you yesterday that I was going to do an unboxing and show you some books that I bought and I'm gonna do that because I have this package from novel wigs which I'm really excited about I also have some books so let me haul the books quite quickly again my camera my camera I can't wear batteries dying so I don't have that much time to run you through these things but um you know I wanted to because I had them on my kitchen table so first up we have in a jam by Kate Canterbury this was the book club pick for my monthly book club on patreon January and we all pretty much love this book it was so good I gave it I think five stars did I give it four or five stars I'm pretty sure I gave it five stars loved this this is a single dad for lack of a better word romance I just it was so good you need to pick this up I want to read more by this author for sure um but also like the spine is so cute I wasn't sold on this cover when I bought it but now that I see the spine it's cute got Falling Away by Penelope Douglas I saw this was available on Amazon and it's like never available on Amazon because it's getting a new cover I didn't realize this was the UK Piat kiss version I'm not mad at it but it's not gonna match my other copies of it so a little irritating but not a big deal I'm excited to have it on my shelves then I'm we got secretly yours Miss Tessa Bailey I got this at Costco could not find it at Target for some reason and then we went to Costco right after and I did find it this is the February book club pick for my monthly book club so if you want to join on patreon we talk about books and I Vlog um and the books that I'm reading so I'll be excited about this actually no this might be this might be the March no this is the March pick the February pick is uh do I know you that author writing Duo whose names are too long then I got final offer Bloom books sent me this I'm so hyped for this one I'm gonna be reading this in a vlog I think coming the following week I'm doing like a new releases reading Vlog I'm really hyped uh final offer is definitely the one I'm most excited about in that Vlog being this one I think I'm reading do I know you another book but I can't remember what the title of it is oh I think it's the new Lucy score book the pink one so anyway very excited to have this and it's just so pretty I love that it like obviously matches the other copies on my shelves then of course because you know what am I if not um expedient I got all this heartless and Powerless by Miss Elsie silver really excited to like take a picture for bookstagram with these I'm not good at bookstagram pictures but I'm trying to get better at it because there's just so many pretty book covers out there and so many books that I just like want to Hype up on Instagram so excited to have these got them all on Amazon and then these two um I got on Amazon as well I love the paperbacks of these they're so pretty double you know and devil in the deep blue sea by Miss Elizabeth O'Rourke one of my favorite authors if you haven't read the series you should they're so good they're not super long and um they're really swoony I have the first book in the series so I got the second and third I believe I don't have the fourth one yet but they're so pretty I'm just glad to have these okay let me do the unboxing for you hopefully before my camera dies um okay so this box from novel Wix is so cool it is a Pride and Prejudice box you can get like a candle only box it's like candles and like I think maybe one gift or you can get like the deluxe box and I'll leave a link in the description to her website I really love novel wigs candles these are the only bookish candles that I personally have ever purchased because she has a scents that really appealed to me and the Art's always so pretty so anyway let's do a little unboxing very excited about this one I know that there's like goodies in here and there's candles in here and oh my God okay first of all oh when you first open it you get this letter addressed to Miss Elizabeth Bennett which is awesome and you also have some like crushed uh flower petals I think this is probably Darcy's letter to Elizabeth which is just so cool and it would make her very good um bookstagram picture yeah um and it looks like it is like hand addressed which is so cute all right let's get into the Box itself I'm already seeing so many goodies okay first up this is so freaking precious I have a little like teacup and saucer they're so beautiful that a floral kind of print pattern on it and then the matching little teacup this is absolutely precious and honestly I feel like I can see Hayden stealing that for me for his espresso in the morning but um so cool and then to go with it we have a little um I don't know what these are called but you put your tea in them when you have loose leaf tea that's so cool and it's got like a little bookish charm to kind of like hang over the side of your cup obviously you would put it in a slightly bigger cup than this or like in an actual teapot but that is so cute oh my God this is already amazing okay we've got tea it's the Austin tea from the simply a bookish company English garden green tea this is like honestly perfect and such a good thing to get yourself I would say for Valentine's Day I also have a little a little wallet okay it's Pride and Prejudice it's got spaces for your cards that's so cute um we also have this little jar of matches which is perfect because obviously basically this is a bookish box and the Box comes with four candles I have not smelled these scents yet and I'm very excited to there have really not been any sense from novel Wicks that I have not enjoyed I think this will be no exception this one is no enjoyment like reading Elizabeth on the cover on the cover on the label and it smells like wildflowers and Sandalwood oh my God this literally smells like summer oh I like don't know how to describe this but to me this smells like the morning dew on grass like before you're going to like a swim meet that's very very specific not like it smells like pool water but like a smell when you have to get up really early in the morning and go to like a sporting event that's what it smells like in a good way next up we have Dawn which okay come on um on that label's stunning and I love the pink candle okay pink lemonade it indeed it smells like pink lemonade that's good that's really good all of these are like such good spring scents ooh okay touch it's got like the little the Darcy getting Elizabeth off of The Carriage moment and this is oakmoss and vanilla that might be my favorite of all of these it kind of smells a little bit campfirey but in the best possible way this scent I'm going to be putting it right there where my other candle is right now she's leaving and this is going up there if there's one thing you do it's get the Scandal okay and then the last one this might have my favorite artwork this is ball it smells like rose and Sandalwood one's really good too this one smells like really sophisticated it smells like a really nice perfume but not too floral it does say Rose but it's not um overly aggressive with the rose scent I am honestly obsessed with this box like I knew it would be good because I don't think I've ever received anything from Murphy that like I haven't been impressed with but I really feel like this is the perfect thing to treat yourself to or a friend or your mom like send them this box for Valentine's Day I know I checked last night these boxes are still available like the entire box like all of the details but again if you just want the candles and I think like a small gift that's also an option on the website as well and I don't know if any of these scents are individual but in general like Murphy's Murphy scandals are some of my favorite like I just I'm obsessed with these scents so I'll leave a link in the description down below to her site and um thank you Murphy for sending me these I am literally so hyped I love adding to my candle collection I think what I'm going to do now is burn one of these probably touch like I said this I think this is my favorite and then I'm gonna finish off this book what a great start to a Super Bowl Sunday honestly I'm thriving I've got books I've got candles I've got goodies I might actually make some tea too so I'll be back okay so I just finished hook shot and I did end up liking this more than I thought that I would which is good I mean I thought that I would love this but like my reading experience definitely wasn't exactly what I wanted it to be that being said I think I'm gonna give this like three and a half or four stars probably I'm gonna like on Goodreads probably rate this four stars really really liked lotus's character I think she is really what carried this book for me it's not that I didn't like Keenan but I felt like he was just a little bit planned and a little bit reserved for my taste I wanted him to have like a little bit more to him he definitely wasn't like a bad Hero by any means I mean I I think genuinely Kennedy Ryan is incapable of writing a bad book but I think this might be my least favorite that I've read by her I just didn't I just didn't love the romance it was definitely a romance between two very real people I liked seeing how Keenan dealt with his relationship with his ex-wife and his daughter while also trying to maintain a really healthy relationship with lotus I love the way that he was there for her when she was kind of going through this trauma like reliving her trauma and trying to heal from it and I really liked that aspect of the book as well just Lotus like healing from this trauma going to a support group and getting the help that she needed I really I really liked the element of the story I just think that the plot was a little bit lacking and there were just some elements that felt a little too soap opera-ish for me I did like the sort of like Voodoo aspect to the story that wasn't my issue I think for me it was like the end of this book there were like two twists I guess you could say or like two big emotional beats of the story that I felt just felt a little bit so soap opera e and I don't think that's necessarily a terrible thing it's just not necessarily what I am looking for and again after reading the right move right before this book it's impossible to like not compare the two they're both basketball romances and they kind of have similar yes heroes in a sense like both reserved Heroes who have you know some like trauma relationship trauma in their past I guess in that book I felt like the plot was a little bit more original and the things that the characters were going through just felt a little bit more are real anyway I don't know I I shouldn't compare the two they're totally different books but it's like hard not to when I read that one most recently so yeah I don't know I liked this book I thought it was good definitely grew to think that the relationship between Lotus and Keenan was like a really cute one but I think it's just not my favorite pairing amongst Kennedy Ryan's backlist and that's fine like not every book from an author is going to be five stars for me that's just the case but that being said having two four stars and one five star romance in a video I'm saying that's pretty good like I'm pretty pleased with that especially since I just finished up a patreon exclusive reading Vlog I had two three stars and one like one star so this is quite the Improvement and I just love sports romance what can I say I love KU this really like renewed my love unlimited Sports romances and I am so freaking hyped for this video I love sports romances if you didn't know a new one just came out actually two new ones just came out I'm gonna be reading those plus an older title in this video and I'm just excited let me tell you about what we're going to be reading or what I'm going to be reading and you're going to be watching first up obviously we have powerless by Elsie silver this is a I don't know if it's a second chance romance but it's a friends to lovers romance I think it's going to be kind of angsty tension filled between a hockey player who is like a part of a family who owns like a ranch or something like that if you've read Flawless and heartless you kind of like know the Vibes but he is a hockey player unlike his brothers who like are ranchers and bull riders I think but he is a hockey player his best friend has been pining for him for forever and I think he finally starts seeing her in that light when she gets engaged to someone so you know I'm very excited about this one I got an arc of it so we're gonna be reading that one first then I'm going to be dipping my toes into the right move by Liz on board this is a basketball romance between two characters that we meet in the first book in the series Mile High excited about that one and then the last book that I'm going to be reading is also a basketball romance and it is hook shot by Kennedy Ryan I always get hook shot and block shot confused but I already read block shot I think it's actually like the last video before this one I read block shot but in this video I'm gonna be reading hook shot and I think it's gonna be kind of intense I think this one is a romance between a single dad I think maybe a woman who is in like some some sort of bad situation I could be wrong but I think this one's gonna be like emotionally intense um unlike block shot which was not as emotionally intense excited to read all three of these books like I couldn't have asked for a better lineup for KU romances and I think all of these honestly are gonna be four or five stars so let's go ahead and get into it I'm gonna pick up powerless and hop on bed not in bed because it's already made but I'm gonna hop on bed and read powerless because like I said I'm hyped I'm ready to go let's go okay 20 into powerless and I know I would love it like it's it's a good time I didn't expect anything less from us LC silver so this is a not Second Chance romance for some reason I keep wanting to say Second Chance romance it is a friends to lovers romance between Jasper and Sloan I will say it's a little bit less tension filled than I thought it would be I feel like in the last book we definitely got hint at the relationship between Jasper and Sloane and how she's like been pining for him for a while brought up by other characters that she has a thing for him and that he's just oblivious but in this book the dynamic is not exactly like that per se I think both characters kind of have a thing for each other maybe Sloan more so than Jasper but he is older than her which is like part of the issue I guess like she asked him to take her to prom but he was 24 and he was like yeah I'm not gonna do that now that she is you know a grown a grown lady I think she's like 25 maybe she definitely has a thing for him but at the beginning of the story she is imminently going to be married to this like total douchebag named I think Sterling or something like that and Jasper like is very much not into uh this idea he makes his criticism of this guy known and uh obviously our heroine decides to leave this guy at the altar and decides not to marry him and she's trying to kind of like lay low and hide out because her dad is the person that kind of like hooked her up with this other guy in the first place and kind of was like hey you should marry this guy because the great connection for our family I don't think it was like tractual or anything I feel like in some romances you know you have parents trying to get their kids with the children of another family so they can join families that's not really I don't think how it was in this one I don't know I haven't gotten far enough but it doesn't seem like that just seems like um you know he like wanted the best for his daughter and she just like went along with it because she knows that like her ballet career is kind of winding down she's oh no she's like 27 I think she's just trying to figure out what to do with her life she seems to maybe a little bit directionless just kind of like the heroine of the last book and I feel like it makes sense you know everybody kind of has like crises in their life where they don't really know what they're doing so um she leaves this guy at the altar and she decides she's just gonna hang out with Jasper for a while she goes to one of his hockey games he's not doing so well because one of the brothers I think Bo the one that like brought Jasper into the family in the first place for if you didn't know it's not a part of the family technically like biologically Four Brothers but one is you know adopted into the family Beau brought Jasper into a family many years ago I think back in high school Beau went missing in action in the military recently and this is kind of like with Jasper's head and so he is not performing very well on the rink on the ice our girl Sloan is there to like support him and be and be there for him so in the scene that I just read she is like waiting for him after his game where he does really poorly and when his coach is like hey you're suspended for two weeks because you need to like deal with your family stuff so I'm curious what's gonna happen like I wonder if they're going to play house in his like apartment in the city or if they're going to go back to the ranch and like hang out there liking where things are going I do think like I were to write this book I think I would want it to be even more angsty attention-filled but that's because I'm a for angst intention and I'm not saying that's not gonna happen because I know Elsie silver and like she does a good job at that I definitely think for her it's more about like the sexual tension which I'm about um but I think I wanted some more like raw emotional angsty moments up front and I think I think we're going in a different direction and I'm curious to see where things go overall like having a good time I think I'm gonna try to get to the 50 Mark tonight and uh teach you tomorrow morning but so far very very good you've been working out for eight and a half hours oh the light's not that okay it's not great um hello I just wanted to pop in while the natural lighting is still out and making my forehead look really glossy and delicious um I am with Hayden in and out drive through line um okay powerless I am 50 in and I was like a little hesitant you know what I mean like at the 20 Mark wasn't really sure how I was feeling because there wasn't a lot of like on-page relationship development because we're supposed to just assume that they like know each other since they've known each other their whole lives and I get it but yeah I was a little worried also I watched crystals like Vlog about this book which I think maybe colors my view a little bit not even colors my view like I I'm gonna feel however I want to feel about this book but she made some really good points that being said this book is for me it might not be for the girls but it's for me this man hates himself and you'll know how I feel about that do you know that I feel that way I like when men hate themselves in romance um I just think it's nice and delightful and there was a scene involving a shower stall and a man and a certain member of his body and you know I liked it a lot I thought it was nice yeah I don't really have much to say I do think this the plot is like lacking in this book a little bit right now the hero and heroine have like some hay bales on the back of a truck and they're taking them to a different Farm or something like that and I guess it's like an excuse for them to have to stop at like a bunch of different hotels and like sleep together in a non-sexual capacity but I don't care so much I like Slice of Life moments and I like a man that hates himself so am I thriving I very much am I think the trend of just like less than superb car lighting is continuing uh it is 3 30 on Thursday and I am about to go get my Starbucks because desperately need some caffeine to perk me up but I finished powerless late last night and I wanted to give you my final thoughts and feelings before I forget them not that I would forget them but I really enjoyed this book I didn't expect to not enjoy it but the beginning of the book was a little slow for me and I was just worried that the lack of like overall plot in this book would make it just like not my fave and I will say I still think I prefer heartless the best out of the the series so far I think there's gonna be four or five books just because some of the things that we learned in this in this particular book but I just really loved the relationship between Jasper and Sloan I love a self-loathing hero I mean I said it yesterday and I just like fully stand by that I really think a delightful self-loathing hero is great and I also like that the third act like conflict in this book was not a third act breakup necessarily it's just our heroin heroin having to kind of figure out things on their own and then our hero like to I guess make up for that conflict coming to our heroine's rescue sort of whenever she has to deal with some people in her life who aren't treating her well I think really my only critique of this book or like my only like kind of minor complaints again are that I wanted a little bit more on-page romantic relationship development I also wanted more in the way of plot those are two things also that Crystal pointed out in her Vlog I'll leave a link to it in the description because obviously she's brilliant and I love her Vlogs and then I also kind of would have liked to see our heroine have more of a full circle moment when it comes to her plotline hero I think could have like made some more growth and change in his own life as well but I really like to see our heroine kind of stand up for herself I did like that the hero kind of came to the heroine's rescue at the end he did kind of swoop in and it would have been really cool to see her like fully realize what she wants out of life and also um kind of fight back against the people who are trying to like hold her back that's just something that like I personally would have liked to see as someone who really likes a super strong heroines I just feel like that was such a a strong point at the beginning of the book like okay she's finally like bring something for herself by not marrying this man like I wanted to see that you know fully come full circle it didn't feel totally full circle for me but um in terms of the actual like romantic components and like The swoony Slice of Life moments that happened like I loved that and that's the kind of romance I tend to like to read anyway I don't need a huge sleeping plot you know a central thread definitely would have been appreciated but again I I like Slice of Life moments and uh yeah it's really checked almost all of my boxes I really adore this I'm excited to read some more I'm really hoping that the right move by Lewis Tom Ford the book I'm going to be reading next is just as good as this one so fingers crossed four star read like we're already off to a fantastic start and I think it's um honestly only gonna get better from here foreign it is a Saturday at around 3 3 30 p.m and I am finally doing my makeup for the day which you know betterly than never though never late is clearly always better but since I'm gonna be uh reading tonight I figured might as well feel cute while doing it so just prepping my skin gonna put my makeup on and I'm gonna talk to you about the right move because I am 50 in I was considering updating you earlier because I was instantly kind of drawn to this book and instantly liking it but I feel like my Vlogs have just been kind of lengthy lately I'm very chatty I feel like I've gotten chattier the longer I put on YouTube and uh that is not bad but also no I want to just like give you my thoughts and feelings on books without um flapping forever so just figured a 50 update on this one would be fine okay so this book's Spider-Man characters Indy and Ryan Ryan is the brother of the main character of the last book Indie is the best friend of the girl from the last book for some reason I'm blinking on her name right now we are getting to know Indie and we're getting to know Ryan and we're also getting to know them together which I am I'm really really liking so essentially at the end of the last book Indy's boyfriend we find out is cheating on her she's been with this guy for six years was hoping he proposed and we see them as kind of like a happy couple in the last book book I mean we don't see like them interact too much but we just know she's happy with her boyfriend and she's always excited to go home and see him after she is back from a Time on the road because she is a flight attendant just like the heroine of the last book um she's a flight attendant specifically for uh hockey players at the end of the last book we find out that Indy's boyfriend was actually cheating on her and had really no intention to marry her which is pretty upsetting to Indy for a couple of reasons one because she had put so much stock into this relationship too because she has diminished ovarian reserve which means that she needs to have kids sooner rather than later and she was thinking like she would have kids with this guy and instead she kind of feels like she's at back to square one she's now trying to save money to save her eggs to preserve her eggs which I think is a really interesting plot of a book I feel like this is definitely something I've heard of before you know diminished ovarian reserve and women wanting to like save their eggs and stuff but I just didn't I've never seen it in a romance before and I thought that was like a really cool touch I think that's something I really like about Liz tomboard's writing and just like her books in general is that it really goes out of her way to give characters like real life issues and real life concerns and she doesn't just skimp over them I feel like the past couple of romances I've read and I've read a lot of romances recently actually just finished three romances yesterday all of those really just like skimmed over these people's like life issues and here's the thing romance is awesome I love romance I think like the romance would be the center of every romance you know what I mean like the Romantic relationship should be the center of a romance but I like it even better when characters do have real life issues and so they're working through to see how their romantic relationship kind of plays into their actual life because people are real people you know what I mean anyway um Indy is kind of dealing with all of these things because she's trying to save money to be able to preserve her eggs it's not like covered by her insurance she wants to live somewhere cheap and she ends up living with her best friend's brother Ryan who is a famous basketball player he's in the NBA he's like one of the best players in the league he is not really excited the prospect of living with her even though he lived with his sister for a while he's like I just was looking forward to having my place back to myself and these complicating things also she's like a really great sunshiny person and he's kind of grumpy he's not like a traditional grumpy guy he's very he's very sweet like a lot of the things already that he's done for Indie is just so romantic and I'm just like so blown away by him also so this Foundation was looking so pale it's not I assure you it's like actually the color of my skin so already at the beginning of the book like I said Indy is trying to kind of save money and Ryan decides that he's not really going to charge her very much for rent but Indy doesn't really have any furniture left over from like moving out of her apartment with the last guy she was with and uh he ends up just buying her a bed like a really really nice bed because he notices she doesn't have one and this is like really early on before there's even like any sort of romantic inclinations going on and it was just so sweet and heartfelt like he really saw her and like really I don't know like I love guys who you know pay attention to details and I feel like that's definitely Ryan Shea like he is just that guy and it is such an interesting contrast to the hero of the last book who's kind of a player and is like trying to get in the heroine's pants this guy is doing the opposite he is celibate and he is just trying to live his life and then Indy just like walks in and is like hey I'm here to ruin your life not ruin your life but like switch it up and make you a better more interesting more kind individual more outgoing certainly and there's just like a pretty instant palpable chemistry between the two of them which I just really love and it's surprising only rare to find in Romance sometimes like they'll have two characters who are being smushed together by the author but it just doesn't really feel like chemistry is there and I totally totally feel the chemistry I also like how these two are like having to come together obviously there has to be something bringing the characters together besides just the fact that they're living together I mean I say that I've read some romances like this where you know they live together and like roommates is enough to justify them getting together like that in this book it's a little bit more complicated than that essentially Ryan is trying to impress the owner of the basketball team he is now the captain of the team and the owner of the of the team doesn't really love him he thinks that Ryan is a little bit too focused on basketball is not much of a family man and so they're sort of like a fake dating situation that happens between Ryan and indy Ryan like needs someone to fake date him so that he looks like more of a Family Guy and so um the owner of his basketball team actually starts to like him and then Indy needs a date to her exes not her ex's wedding but like wedding of mutual friends I guess where she knows her ex is going to be it's been really delicious and tension filled and I'm surprised that even though I'm 50 into this book there's not really been much in in the way of like sexuality I mean there has in that we have our heroin like constantly texting Stevie the rose sister and how much she wants to get with Ryan which I think is really funny we haven't really had like any I haven't had sex yet which is kind of wild uh you know 50 into a 500 page book but I think it's nice I like the again sexual attention that's being built and I'm like really rooting for these two to get together I think I might prefer this book to the first one but there's just something about Ryan's personality and his character that I really really like don't get me wrong Xander is fun but he's supposed to be like the Playboy with like a Secret Heart of Gold and that's fine but like Ryan and his sort of like stoic stay in personality is more my speed so yeah I'm really enjoying the relationship there I think it is um it's cute I'm excited to see where things go I am excited to see kind of what the main conflict of this book ends up being is it just these two are gonna fight their feelings for each other that's the only thing that I'm like sort of um question Marky about yeah there's just sort of like big dating situation and yes they're gonna have to go to this wedding together I don't think that is going to be like the conflict of The Story So I'm curious to see like what kind of makes these two apart I guess like I'm hoping it's not just like them gaining feelings for each other but um I haven't really seen any hints so far as to what the conflict would be and the last book I could definitely see the conflict coming in this book I just like don't really know that being said I'm loving all the moments we're getting between Ryan and indy I just it's cute it's a cute book I like it enjoying it I feel like I've been rambling because I have to like cut myself off every five seconds because Hayden was washing dishes in the other room but yeah I will update you when I'm finished with this book and then we can move on to the last book hookshot well picky and I here just finished the right move we both really enjoyed it I did cry I don't know if I'm just like in my emo era or if this book was really just that good but I think I'm gonna go with the latter I think this book was really just that good I'm gonna give this five big stars if I were raiding on Crystal's scale this would be a six star read for me like this was everything like I'm in love with Jay he's definitely a new book boyfriend for me Ryan Shea just what a delight what a delightful man I like I said I was really curious what the conflict of this story would be and I don't want to spoil it for you but I feel like it was very appropriate given these two characters were going through and I also feel like it wasn't a weird or like overly dramatic third act conflict it wasn't a third act breakup which I appreciated and just seeing how it was basically the emotional baggage and emotional trauma that was keeping these two apart it felt really realistic and really real and I really appreciate that that was definitely the case with the first book in the series mile high was you know I think honestly the baggage of the hero last time as well which is keeping the two characters apart that was the same thing here the hero here definitely had some some stuff in his past and he was able to kind of like tell the heroine what that was and unlike powerless it wasn't just that that was bringing the two characters together it wasn't just this like one-off omission of like here's why I am the way I am he also displayed his really positive traits throughout the story to our heroine and I just love them together like the way that this man like understood everything that she wanted and anticipated her needs and like went above and beyond for her I can't I can't this was so good this is the kind of book that like makes me so happy to be a Kindle unlimited subscriber I hate being a show for Amazon but I am just so grateful for the Indie romance Community I'm so grateful that these books exist and that authors are able to publish so easily now it's just I'm just so happy that this book exists like this probably wouldn't exist in the traditional publishing space and like I'm just so glad that books like this exist and Powerless is awesome too but um this is like Beyond I'm gonna have to buy a copy of this like immediately I think if you are someone who likes a quieter hero who is very emotional still hot in bed who like who's who's wealthy and like uses money and in good ways you need to pick this up you need to okay all phenomenal this Vlog could not be going better I knew it would but like goddamn um let's go ahead and start end on block shot because it's already like nearly six o'clock and you know I would like to finish this Vlog in a timely fashion so you can watch it bright and early tomorrow morning so I'm gonna do that I also need to figure out dinner which should be interesting we had lunch kind of late um which you saw I had some homemade tomato soup and grilled cheese and that was quite delightful Hayden made that for us but yeah I don't know what we're doing for dinner so we need to figure that out but I'll be back um in the meantime I think I'm gonna hang with these clowns I don't know what they're doing are y'all both Girl Meet wow wow beautiful gross all right I'm in my PJs it is almost 10 o'clock and I am like 20 30-ish percent into hookshot I Miss Kennedy Ryan I'm listening to the audiobook I don't know I'm not loving this I'm hoping it's just because I'm too early in so this book's better Superman characters Keenan and Lotus at the beginning of the book we have a pretty cool like badass opening I don't really want to like spoil it for anyone but we quickly learned that Lotus is working at a fashion house he's like the right hand woman to this like really great designer he's like up and coming and she is just loving her life find out though that she is like she's she's dealing with some stuff some maybe like repercussions from her childhood or something like that she has been kind of hooking up with dudes pretty regularly and now she's kind of like you know what I think I need a break from this I'm trying to just kind of like I don't know get my life together in a sense because she's finally ready I guess to deal with her childhood trauma okay and then she meets Keenan or I guess she like remeets Keenan Otis is the cousin of is it Iris in the first book so she kind of knows Keenan or she's met him once and she had like an instant attraction to him and he did as well he is going to be modeling watches that the fashion house is like collaborating on with some sort of like sporty tech company so anyway they've got him as the model heated Lotus or like kind of reuniting it he is in New York at this point because his ex-wife who cheated on him very publicly is in New York filming a reality television show and she has I think maybe like primary custody of their kid I'm not entirely sure maybe they have to wait custody but she has the kid and so Keenan feels like he has to go to New York and so he's doing this ad thing in the summer like in his off season from basketball and I I don't know like I think maybe it's the setting of the book I I don't I can't exactly pinpoint what it what it is that I'm not loving I think part of it's the setting I think part of it is like the slow pace of this book and I think part of it is that like I'm just not really feeling a chemistry between the two main characters both Keenan and Lotus are kind of like trying to stay away from each other sexually because Keenan's daughter is still kind of having issues with Keenan's divorce from his ex-wife Bridget so he's like ah like I gotta stay away from this chick that I'm attracted to and Lotus again is like trying to deal with her childhood trauma not trying to sleep with anyone so they're like kind of fighting their attraction for each other like I'm not really seeing anything beyond a physical attraction between the two of them they have had some like decent conversations I guess but nothing that I'm like wow these two are like meant for each other kind of like I felt when I was reading the right move so I don't know I'm just like I'm kind of feeling meant about this book I'm not hating it Kennedy Ryan's a fantastic writer and there are Finn moments that have made me laugh really like lotus's friends I think um they are funny and I like just hearing about her job I guess but I don't know like I'm just not I'm not enamored with like the story in the plot line I just think it's kind of like it's just kind of I wanted something a little bit more original and I was really really into block shot I think I gave that one five stars so I'm hoping that as I get farther into this book and as each of these characters kind of like Works through their emotions and the things that are Kingdom Heart that I will like get more I will say like what I was reading Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan recently I wasn't like totally into the beginning of that book but as it carried on I mean it was a five-star read for me so fingers crossed that is the case again I'm gonna keep reading honestly I'll probably update you tomorrow morning on my thoughts at that 50 Mark and I think I might do a little bit of like a haul and an unboxing for you as well I just got a ton of books from Amazon not a ton like five or six that I'm really excited to own I decided to treat myself to some like hey you paperbacks and I also have an unboxing to do for you from novel Wix there is the cutest Valentine's Day box of like candles and little goodies so I'll show you that tomorrow as well I'm going to I think just like cuddle up in my bed and listen to the rest of this audiobook or at least the 50 more again uh yeah I'll get back to you while we're riding on low battery which is never what I like to see but happy Super Bowl Sunday go Birds it is 9 30 bright and early for once I am like dressed and have my makeup done before 10. I'm I'm pretty impressed with myself I am like 50 into hook shot also I have a special visitor I have a dingo I never really have dingo down here but Hayden's at the gym so anyway 50 into hook shot and I don't know like I want to love it I really do but I'm just not that into the plot of this book because there really isn't one I do I will say okay I like the healing on the part of lotus it's clear that she is really focused on working through her childhood trauma to where she can have a successful romantic relationship with Keenan like I really love that Kanan as a character I think is kind of boring well I'm very sympathetic to his polite and I feel bad for him that his wife cheated on him I don't really understand like what's going on with him like there's there's really no plot with him he is not growing or changing or developing as a character very much in my eyes and so it's just kind of hard to like really be invested in this relationship like they've had a couple of dates and we know that introductions are imminent when it comes to Lotus getting to know Simone Keenan's daughter other than that like I just don't I don't know I I don't know what to say about this book I'm sad because I really wanted to like love this book and I'm kind of just neutral about it right now at the moment like in my head this is a three-star read it's clearly well written Kennedy Ryan's fantastic but I'm just not I'm not totally enamored with it which is such a bummer but I'm gonna I'm gonna withhold my judgment until that you know 100 where I can tell I'm finished with this book let me just do let's do some exciting stuff I think I told you yesterday that I was going to do an unboxing and show you some books that I bought and I'm gonna do that because I have this package from novel wigs which I'm really excited about I also have some books so let me haul the books quite quickly again my camera my camera I can't wear batteries dying so I don't have that much time to run you through these things but um you know I wanted to because I had them on my kitchen table so first up we have in a jam by Kate Canterbury this was the book club pick for my monthly book club on patreon January and we all pretty much love this book it was so good I gave it I think five stars did I give it four or five stars I'm pretty sure I gave it five stars loved this this is a single dad for lack of a better word romance I just it was so good you need to pick this up I want to read more by this author for sure um but also like the spine is so cute I wasn't sold on this cover when I bought it but now that I see the spine it's cute got Falling Away by Penelope Douglas I saw this was available on Amazon and it's like never available on Amazon because it's getting a new cover I didn't realize this was the UK Piat kiss version I'm not mad at it but it's not gonna match my other copies of it so a little irritating but not a big deal I'm excited to have it on my shelves then I'm we got secretly yours Miss Tessa Bailey I got this at Costco could not find it at Target for some reason and then we went to Costco right after and I did find it this is the February book club pick for my monthly book club so if you want to join on patreon we talk about books and I Vlog um and the books that I'm reading so I'll be excited about this actually no this might be this might be the March no this is the March pick the February pick is uh do I know you that author writing Duo whose names are too long then I got final offer Bloom books sent me this I'm so hyped for this one I'm gonna be reading this in a vlog I think coming the following week I'm doing like a new releases reading Vlog I'm really hyped uh final offer is definitely the one I'm most excited about in that Vlog being this one I think I'm reading do I know you another book but I can't remember what the title of it is oh I think it's the new Lucy score book the pink one so anyway very excited to have this and it's just so pretty I love that it like obviously matches the other copies on my shelves then of course because you know what am I if not um expedient I got all this heartless and Powerless by Miss Elsie silver really excited to like take a picture for bookstagram with these I'm not good at bookstagram pictures but I'm trying to get better at it because there's just so many pretty book covers out there and so many books that I just like want to Hype up on Instagram so excited to have these got them all on Amazon and then these two um I got on Amazon as well I love the paperbacks of these they're so pretty double you know and devil in the deep blue sea by Miss Elizabeth O'Rourke one of my favorite authors if you haven't read the series you should they're so good they're not super long and um they're really swoony I have the first book in the series so I got the second and third I believe I don't have the fourth one yet but they're so pretty I'm just glad to have these okay let me do the unboxing for you hopefully before my camera dies um okay so this box from novel Wix is so cool it is a Pride and Prejudice box you can get like a candle only box it's like candles and like I think maybe one gift or you can get like the deluxe box and I'll leave a link in the description to her website I really love novel wigs candles these are the only bookish candles that I personally have ever purchased because she has a scents that really appealed to me and the Art's always so pretty so anyway let's do a little unboxing very excited about this one I know that there's like goodies in here and there's candles in here and oh my God okay first of all oh when you first open it you get this letter addressed to Miss Elizabeth Bennett which is awesome and you also have some like crushed uh flower petals I think this is probably Darcy's letter to Elizabeth which is just so cool and it would make her very good um bookstagram picture yeah um and it looks like it is like hand addressed which is so cute all right let's get into the Box itself I'm already seeing so many goodies okay first up this is so freaking precious I have a little like teacup and saucer they're so beautiful that a floral kind of print pattern on it and then the matching little teacup this is absolutely precious and honestly I feel like I can see Hayden stealing that for me for his espresso in the morning but um so cool and then to go with it we have a little um I don't know what these are called but you put your tea in them when you have loose leaf tea that's so cool and it's got like a little bookish charm to kind of like hang over the side of your cup obviously you would put it in a slightly bigger cup than this or like in an actual teapot but that is so cute oh my God this is already amazing okay we've got tea it's the Austin tea from the simply a bookish company English garden green tea this is like honestly perfect and such a good thing to get yourself I would say for Valentine's Day I also have a little a little wallet okay it's Pride and Prejudice it's got spaces for your cards that's so cute um we also have this little jar of matches which is perfect because obviously basically this is a bookish box and the Box comes with four candles I have not smelled these scents yet and I'm very excited to there have really not been any sense from novel Wicks that I have not enjoyed I think this will be no exception this one is no enjoyment like reading Elizabeth on the cover on the cover on the label and it smells like wildflowers and Sandalwood oh my God this literally smells like summer oh I like don't know how to describe this but to me this smells like the morning dew on grass like before you're going to like a swim meet that's very very specific not like it smells like pool water but like a smell when you have to get up really early in the morning and go to like a sporting event that's what it smells like in a good way next up we have Dawn which okay come on um on that label's stunning and I love the pink candle okay pink lemonade it indeed it smells like pink lemonade that's good that's really good all of these are like such good spring scents ooh okay touch it's got like the little the Darcy getting Elizabeth off of The Carriage moment and this is oakmoss and vanilla that might be my favorite of all of these it kind of smells a little bit campfirey but in the best possible way this scent I'm going to be putting it right there where my other candle is right now she's leaving and this is going up there if there's one thing you do it's get the Scandal okay and then the last one this might have my favorite artwork this is ball it smells like rose and Sandalwood one's really good too this one smells like really sophisticated it smells like a really nice perfume but not too floral it does say Rose but it's not um overly aggressive with the rose scent I am honestly obsessed with this box like I knew it would be good because I don't think I've ever received anything from Murphy that like I haven't been impressed with but I really feel like this is the perfect thing to treat yourself to or a friend or your mom like send them this box for Valentine's Day I know I checked last night these boxes are still available like the entire box like all of the details but again if you just want the candles and I think like a small gift that's also an option on the website as well and I don't know if any of these scents are individual but in general like Murphy's Murphy scandals are some of my favorite like I just I'm obsessed with these scents so I'll leave a link in the description down below to her site and um thank you Murphy for sending me these I am literally so hyped I love adding to my candle collection I think what I'm going to do now is burn one of these probably touch like I said this I think this is my favorite and then I'm gonna finish off this book what a great start to a Super Bowl Sunday honestly I'm thriving I've got books I've got candles I've got goodies I might actually make some tea too so I'll be back okay so I just finished hook shot and I did end up liking this more than I thought that I would which is good I mean I thought that I would love this but like my reading experience definitely wasn't exactly what I wanted it to be that being said I think I'm gonna give this like three and a half or four stars probably I'm gonna like on Goodreads probably rate this four stars really really liked lotus's character I think she is really what carried this book for me it's not that I didn't like Keenan but I felt like he was just a little bit planned and a little bit reserved for my taste I wanted him to have like a little bit more to him he definitely wasn't like a bad Hero by any means I mean I I think genuinely Kennedy Ryan is incapable of writing a bad book but I think this might be my least favorite that I've read by her I just didn't I just didn't love the romance it was definitely a romance between two very real people I liked seeing how Keenan dealt with his relationship with his ex-wife and his daughter while also trying to maintain a really healthy relationship with lotus I love the way that he was there for her when she was kind of going through this trauma like reliving her trauma and trying to heal from it and I really liked that aspect of the book as well just Lotus like healing from this trauma going to a support group and getting the help that she needed I really I really liked the element of the story I just think that the plot was a little bit lacking and there were just some elements that felt a little too soap opera-ish for me I did like the sort of like Voodoo aspect to the story that wasn't my issue I think for me it was like the end of this book there were like two twists I guess you could say or like two big emotional beats of the story that I felt just felt a little bit so soap opera e and I don't think that's necessarily a terrible thing it's just not necessarily what I am looking for and again after reading the right move right before this book it's impossible to like not compare the two they're both basketball romances and they kind of have similar yes heroes in a sense like both reserved Heroes who have you know some like trauma relationship trauma in their past I guess in that book I felt like the plot was a little bit more original and the things that the characters were going through just felt a little bit more are real anyway I don't know I I shouldn't compare the two they're totally different books but it's like hard not to when I read that one most recently so yeah I don't know I liked this book I thought it was good definitely grew to think that the relationship between Lotus and Keenan was like a really cute one but I think it's just not my favorite pairing amongst Kennedy Ryan's backlist and that's fine like not every book from an author is going to be five stars for me that's just the case but that being said having two four stars and one five star romance in a video I'm saying that's pretty good like I'm pretty pleased with that especially since I just finished up a patreon exclusive reading Vlog I had two three stars and one like one star so this is quite the Improvement and I just love sports romance what can I say I love KU this really like renewed my love
