Apple Unveils Apple Watch: A Revolutionary Smartwatch with a Square Shape

This watch has an anodized aluminum finish with a square shape, not circle like many people thought and rumors said earlier. However, the device indeed comes in 38 mm and 42 mm sizes. The watch features a digital crown on the side that is used to zoom and scroll, and it also acts as a home button, as expected.

There's no keyboard on the Apple watch, and all communication forms are done via Siri. Additionally, there's a feature called digital touch which allows you to doodle on the watch and send it to another person with an Apple Watch, making it a new form of communication. The screen on the Apple watch is flexible Retina Display, meaning that it's pressure sensitive, similar to the MacBook's new touchpad. One great thing about this watch is that there are plenty of material and color variations to choose from, including space gray aluminum, space black stainless steel, and even 18 karat rose gold.

There are also numerous band styles available, including sports bands, The Classic Buckle, modern Buckle, link bracelet, and many others. The Apple watch comes stock with 11 faces, but we can expect more to be released once the device hits the market. Another exciting feature is built-in NFC, which allows you to easily pay on the go. During the keynote demo, they showed that you can even access hotel rooms straight from your Apple Watch, a cool and innovative feature.

Furthermore, there's a built-in heart sensor and a built-in accelerometer in the Apple watch. Although rumors circulated about GPS being built into the Apple watch, unfortunately, that is not true. This device does not have GPS. One of the most useful features about the Apple watch is that iPhone apps automatically forward notifications to your Apple Watch so you can see them right there without having to pull out your iPhone from your pocket.

You'll also be able to take phone calls directly on the Apple Watch, either by answering or handing it off to your iPhone. Additionally, you have notification center on the Apple watch, similar to iOS, which allows you to customize views with a simple swipe down from the top of the display. There's also a feature called "glance" which displays desired information simply by swiping up on the screen.

A big aspect of the Apple watch and one of its major selling points is the fitness tracking. With built-in barometer and accelerometer, you can track your steps just like you can with an iPhone, but you'll also get to see in-depth exercise details and be able to tell how many calories you burn per day and per week, every week. Apple will also provide a report for you so you can see how many calories you lost compared to the previous week.

You'll have 8 gigs of space for your photos and music which you load onto the Apple watch from the iPhone companion app. The big question that everyone has wondered about is the battery life, and Apple claims it has an all-day battery life of at least 18 hours of regular use. However, this will take a lot of testing to verify that claim, so we'll have to wait until next month to see if it's true.

Prices start at just $3.49, but there is also the Apple Watch Edition which starts at an impressive price of $110,000, making it one of the most expensive smartwatches on the market.
