Adding Yahoo Contacts to Your Android Phone: A Step-by-Step Guide
Hey guys, it's David from The Unlocker Comm and today we're gonna show you how to add a Yahoo contacts to your Android phone. So, first thing you need to do is set up a Gmail account if you don't already have one. Chances are though, you probably already do now that is because if you ever had accessed the market or the Play Store on your Android device, you had to sign up for a Gmail account or at least login with one. You currently have so if you've already done that, no problem, you already have a Gmail account, you're good to go.
If you don't or haven't done that yet on your device, just go to mail.google.com, click on the "Create an account" over the top, and then on your phone, go to settings, then accounts in sync. Make sure that you use the Google account that's tied to this Gmail account, to make sure everything is going to sync properly.
We're going to assume that you have a Yahoo account because that's where you want to get the contacts from. So, please go to Yahoo.com, sign in with your Yahoo name, and then click on "Mail". Next up, you're going to go to your contacts tab and you'll see a whole bunch of contacts over here. We're going to click the Select All button if you want all of them to be exported or if you just want specific ones you can check those off individually.
I want them all so I checked that then we're gonna click Actions, now we're going to click export all. It's going to ask you what format you want to export them in, just do Yahoo CSV and click export. Now, type in the code that it gives you and wait for it to download. Then, we're going to go to our Gmail account so mail.google.com, sign in with the same criteria that you used on your device.
Now, over here, with says Gmail or Mail, you're going to click on that, go to contacts, click on "More", import and we're going to choose a file. We're going to find that Yahoo CSV file and click open, then click import and wait for it to import your contacts. Okay, and if you're having trouble using the CSV file for some reason, the contacts aren't showing up. One thing you can try to do is try to use the Microsoft Outlook format as opposed to the CSV file. The CSV file should work most of the time, but if it doesn't, try the Outlook file.
Once you've done that import and you're all set, it'll ask you if you want to merge some of the contacts. You can do that, then so long as your Google Account, the Gmail account that you're using right now, that you've imported the contacts into is the same one you have set up on your phone. If you give it a few minutes, it will automatically sync and all of your Yahoo contacts will show up on your Android device.
If you follow these steps correctly, you should be able to add your Yahoo contacts to your Android phone easily. Remember, you need to have a Gmail account and use the Google account that's tied to this Gmail account for everything to sync properly. Also, make sure to choose the correct format when exporting your contacts from Yahoo.
