**Apple Updates: A Closer Look at Mac OS 14 Sonoma**
In this latest update, Apple has introduced several exciting features that aim to enhance the user experience on their Mac operating system. One of the standout features is the visual lookup functionality, which allows users to quickly identify objects and food in images. This feature can be accessed by clicking on a small icon located at the top right corner of the screen, where it displays detailed information about the detected object or food.
Another significant update is the weather application, which now includes more detailed features such as average wind speed, gusts, moon statistics, and temperature comparisons. The weather app has also undergone a major redesign, with a new interface that provides users with an improved experience. Furthermore, the mail application has been updated to include travel-related emails at the top of search results, especially for users approaching their trip dates.
The reminders feature has also been revamped, introducing grocery lists as a new type of list. When creating a new list, users can now select "Groceries" and the system will automatically categorize items based on categories such as produce, beverages, breads, cereals, sauces, and more. This feature is particularly useful for planning shopping trips.
In addition to these updates, Apple has also improved the Notes application, allowing users to fill out PDF forms with ease. This feature enables users to sign PDFs, fill in blanks, and save notes directly from the Notes app. Furthermore, the Messages application now features stickers, which can be created by users themselves and shared across iMessage threads or Mac OS.
The AirTags feature has also been enhanced, allowing up to five people to share access to a single location. Users can track who unlocked the door, turned down the thermostat, and more using the Activity History feature in Settings > Privacy & Security > Sensitive Content Warning.
One of the most exciting features introduced in Mac OS 14 Sonoma is the ability to use machine learning-powered AI to create a personalized voice clone, known as Personal Voice. This feature requires users to talk for 15 minutes and answer prompts before they can access their new voice. The Live Speech feature also allows users to speak freely, using their personal voice clone.
Last but not least, Apple has introduced a new feature called moving wallpapers on the lock screen, which can be customized with various images. When unlocked, the wallpaper appears to move, creating a visually appealing effect. This feature is sure to delight users and is a great example of Apple's commitment to innovation.
**Other Features and Updates**
In addition to these main features, Mac OS 14 Sonoma includes several other updates and improvements. These include:
* A new screen time setting called Communication Safety, which detects nude photos and videos before they are viewed.
* Enhanced accessibility features, such as Personal Voice and Live Speech.
* The ability to download and install videos for moving wallpapers.
**Conclusion**

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys my name's brand and apple just released the first developer beta for the brand new Mac OS 14 Sonoma and in this video we're going to discuss all of the new features and changes included in the updates and if you're wondering what's new in iOS 17 and watch OS 10 I also made videos on both of those software versions as well those are linked up in the cards and down in the description below alright so let's get into Mac OS Sonoma so first off you need to know that this update drops support for three Macs that were supported on Ventura so the 2017 MacBook Pro the 2017 iMac and the 2017 12-inch MacBook are no longer supported so that leaves us with the devices that you see on screen now these are the ones that are compatible with Mac OS Sonoma okay so now let's move on to the new features in Mac OS Sonoma and the first thing you will notice after installing this update is the new lock screen so if I go ahead and lock my MacBook here take a look at the new lock screen slash login screen whatever you call it so this is a moving background which is brand new in Sonoma and I will talk about that in a moment but take a look up top we have a more transparent kind of translucent time and date up top so you know very hard to see on a light colored background but I still think it looks cool and then we have our profile picture all the way down here at the bottom along with where we input our passcode now what's really cool here is that when I unlock my device take a look at this the background continues moving and then it kind of comes to a slow Halt and creates your still wallpaper that is awesome if you go into your settings and go down to wallpaper you will see that we have a bunch of them here so under landscape we have six different ones under cityscape we have five underwater and we have Earth as well so all of these are in there now you do have to download these so it does take a while since they are very high res high quality videos but here is a look at the Hawaii one and what that looks like you can see the clock is a little bit more you know clear on this one so it's just going to depend on your background but really cool and I unlock my device and you can see how it kind of comes to a halt and creates my still wallpaper we do also have the Mac OS Sonoma wallpaper here as well and this does have a light and a dark mode and if we go down a little bit further under pictures we have the new wallpapers for the MacBook Air the 15 inch MacBook Air promotional images here so we have purple green yellow and blue to choose from something else that's pretty subtle is that the dock menu items here the applications are more round than they were on Mac OS Ventura it's very slight but you will see a difference in the roundness and the same goes with the spotlight search so if you pull up Spotlight search you will notice that this has a more rounded look to it than previous versions alright so I can't go any further without talking about what you see on the screen right here which are widgets so yes we now have widgets on Mac OS and if you watch my live stream Where I Was reacting to the software I said I don't care about widgets on the Mac I did not think I was going to like them at all but I'm going to my words because I actually love having widgets on the home screen of my Mac on the desktop version of my Mac now you can move these pretty much anywhere you want and you can also get them to align if you kind of hold it in place right here you will see they align now you might be wondering how do I have this Tesla one here well that's because with continuity you can actually add iPhone widgets to the Mac even if you don't have the application installed on your Mac so we're going to right click right here and then go to edit widgets and this is where you will see the pane down here at the bottom which it looks kind of weird popping up from the bottom like that but it is beta one it could change and you will see all the widgets that you can add right here and you will notice that you have a lot of them that are on your iPhone just by default like Instagram and some of these applications that just are not even available on the Mac and if we want to add one so for instance weather I'll tap on weather and I'll add this big one right here so a big weather and what's really cool about this something that you can't do that you cannot do on the iPhone or the iPad is if you right click on this you can change the size so you can now change this size of the widget without completely deleting the widget and replacing it which I love I wish that we had that on the iPhone and on the iPad and when you have an application opened you will notice that the widgets fade they turn to this gray color that way they don't kind of distract you from what you're doing you also have some settings for these widgets so if you go into your settings and go to desktop and Dock and then scroll down until you see widgets you have widget style so you can turn that on automatic which is where it goes into that monochrome mode when you're not on the desktop but you can change it to be monochrome all the time so even when you go to the desktop they stay that monochrome color or you have the ability to choose full color so that way even when you are not on the desktop they remain at their full color and they don't Fade to that gray monochrome and then of course you have the use iPhone widgets toggle so if you want to turn that on or off you can and you can choose which iPhone you want to use to pull the widgets from now a feature that's pretty controversial but I love is the fact that when you go to an application and you can see your home screen your desktop if you click on the desktop it will hide that screen it will hide that application and if you want to get back to it you kind of just go up here to the top and tap on it again so like I guess this is for a quick and easy way to access the widgets I guess that's like the the main thing that's being used for now some people don't like that I think it's pretty cool because I don't click outside of my application unless I want to go to like the desktop or you know go to another application but if you don't like this you can turn this off so if you go into your settings and go down to desktop and Doc and then go down to desktop and you will see click wallpaper to show desktop items so you could turn this on or you can do only in stage manager so this is kind of like a stage manager like feature but you can have it enabled without having stage manager on but if you want to enable this only to be used in stage manager you can do that so now if I turn that on and I go into an application if I click on the home screen or the desktop you can see that nothing happens unless I go into that mode of stage manager so if I turn stage manager on and then I tap over here or click over here you can see it goes back to the desktop now we also have a new typing indicator system wide so the typing indicator will change colors based on the application you're in and we also have a new caps lock indicator so if I go to Spotlight search for example and turn on caps lock you can see that we have this new blue indicator that stays there no matter what until you turn off caps lock something else that's included in Mac OS Sonoma is predictive text so this gets better the more you use the software but I've noticed that it's not quite as effective as an iOS 17 and iPad OS 17. so if I start typing this is a test and here's you can see that we're not really getting any type of predictive text whereas on iOS we would get that pretty much after like the second or third word but we do have predict of text now and Mac ossonoma it's just going to take some time to learn how you type we also finally get dictation where you can text and type simultaneously on the Mac so we had this on iOS 16 is actually when it was introduced but now I'm MAC osinoma that is here so if we dictate and let's just go ahead and start this this is a dictation test and now I'm going to type so we'll just type by the way this is and then we'll continue talking and you can see that it works when you go to type after you stop talking and then you can start talking again and it will dictate and speaking of using your voice if you go into your settings and then go down to Siri and Spotlight you will see that right here for lesson 4 we now have the same setting that we have in iOS where you can just say Siri instead of hey s okay so now let's talk about some new FaceTime features because some of these features are pretty awesome so once you're on a FaceTime call a zoom call a Google meet anywhere where you can actually you know do a live call or share your screen you will have these options so it's not just for FaceTime but anyways once you go here you will see the icon up in the top right when you press on that you have the option down here for portrait and Studio light which those are not new but you will see this new Arrow here where you can control how much you have for portrait and also with Studio light you can change kind of the effects of it and how you know dramatic or how faint that effect is and then down below that you have reaction so if you tap on reactions and you go to the little arrow icon you will see that you have hearts that you can do you have the thumbs up which by the way these are also gesture based so if I put up like a thumbs up like this it will detect that and it will automatically do an AR version of that thumbs up which is pretty neat and it works for the heart as well it's people made fun of me for making the heart in my iOS 17 video so I'll try it again here and see if that works I just don't know how to make a really good heart with my hands but you get the point it will create an augmented reality version of whatever you're trying to do with your hand via hand gestures now what I'm going to do is go into the zoom application so I can show you the new presenter overlay feature which is really awesome so we're going to join a meeting all right so we are now in a zoom meeting and you can see up top we have those effects right here as well it's not just for FaceTime like I mentioned and if we go to share screen and we share our desktop that menu bar has now turned purple and if we go to that you can see that we have presenter overlay so if that's off nothing will change but if we go too small you will notice how it puts me down in the bottom left hand corner and you can move this around as well so if you want to put it in another corner or right in the middle you can do that and that is what other people will see they'll be able to see you and your display at the same time and you could also do large which is really cool because it makes kind of like a green screen of yourself and you can see the desktop right here you can kind of point to things on the desktop this is kind of like a you know Tick Tock type video where you can point to things on your desktop and that can be really cool and very useful for a presentation and what makes this really cool is that if you stop sharing your screens we're going to stop sharing right here and if we want to add a screen to screen share on like a presentation for example we can go into something and hover over the green right here so if you hover over the green icon on one of your applications you can add that to the call we also have some changes in the Safari application so first off you will notice that the bookmark arcs have icons now so the favicon is next to our websites in our bookmarks and if you don't want that you can right click and disable show icons and it goes back to the old way now one of the biggest new features in Mac osanoma related to Safari is the ability to add web apps to the dock so if I go to file on a website you will see we have a new Option here for add to Dock and when you go to that you can name it whatever you would like and it could also change the icon if you would like to but it does put in the favicon by default and when you tap on ADD you will see it adds it down here to your dock as if it were an application and when you click on that it will open up in its own private window you can see I have another one here for my free newsletter the Apple den and you can see it opens up in its own little window which is pretty neat so I like this feature another big feature in Mac osinoma in Safari is the addition of profiles and what this does is it allows you to keep your browsing separated so it says you may want to set up a profile for work and for school and what this does is it keeps your Safari extensions your history your cookies all of that separated from the rest of your browsing so if you click on new profile you can name your profile you can choose an icon you can also choose if the favorites should use an existing folder or if you want to create a new bookmarks folder Apple also claims that Safari is faster than ever with Mac OS Sonoma and Safari 17 and the web results are also better so you can see if I search for like the heat for example if you search for scores it will show you a live score if it's going on if not it will show you the times right there so a little bit more Rich results when searching I've also noticed that it's just more accurate and you know relevant in general based on what I search now there's a big change to Private Browsing in Mac OS Sonoma just like we have on iOS 17. so you can see that when I go to open a private page a private browsing page here if I go to incognito mode I cannot go in there unless I add my fingerprint or put in my passwords I'm going to go ahead and do that and you can see we have a new section here that says private browsing so not only do you have a password protected incognito mode but they also block known trackers and remove tracking from URLs so it's a little bit better with the kind of privacy you get while private browsing in Safari 17. if we go into our Safari settings and go to tabs you can see that we have a new Option here that says automatically close tabs so you can now automatically close tabs after a day a week or after a month or you could just keep it on manually in the passwords section we have password options if you go into that it's going to allow you to clean up Verification codes so this is a big feature on iOS 17 but what this does is it automatically deletes Verification codes and messages and mail after inserting with autofill definitely a feature I think everybody should have enabled and right below the that is family passwords this allows you to share passwords and pass keys with your family or loved ones when you click on get started it shows you kind of how this works heading over to the Privacy tab we have the ability to turn off required Touch ID to view locked tabs which is in private browsing there's a new developer settings panel right here and then right next to that is a feature flags and this replaces the experimental features section of the develop menu also new in Safari 17 and Mac OS Sonoma is jpeg XL so this is a new image format that will be coming with the new version of safari and if you go down we can see that we also now have support for heic images which is what we take with the iPhone when you are trying to save data so atic are Now supported in Safari there's also a change to the text cursor color which I did mention briefly earlier we also have a change to live text so Safari 17 adds support for vertical text right recognition in images and videos Apple pay now works in third-party iframes by using the allow payment attribute we have some changes to lockdown mode so all of these have been added to lockdown mode and we have some changes to Safari extensions as well also included in Mac OS Sonoma is game mode so Apple seems to be focusing on gaming more heavily than they have in years past and they announced several big name titles coming to the Mac later this year so you can see some of them are mentioned right here so apple is focusing on gaming and this new game mode is going to be pretty awesome so you can see what it does is it automatically gives maximum CPU and GPU priority to the game by lowering usage for other background tasks but the best part about this is that it dramatically reduces latency with Wireless accessories like air pods and your favorite controllers so that should be you know get giving us zero audio lag or any type of lag with a controller and to add on to that game mode we can also now disable pointer acceleration this is huge if you use a keyboard and mouse for gaming because this prevents your mouse from accelerating so fast and kind of just allows you for more Precision which is a great feature for especially FPS games in the photos application if you go to your albums on the left hand side you will see that people is now people and pets so this includes pets now with your people which is nice visual lookup can also find similar recipes when it detects food and you can tell it detects food with this little icon up here on the top right if you click on that it will show about the image and then it will show you what it thinks could be a similar recipe to what it has detected the weather application has a couple of new changes so the wind now has a much bigger section here and it shows the average wind speed along with the gusts and then down here we have the the moon statistics you can see elimination next Moonrise and next full moon and if you click on that you get even more details about it down in the bottom right it shows the average temperature compared to what the current temperature is if it's above or below average and you can click on that to see more details and if you go into the precipitation map you can change this to have a wind map as well so there's just an additional option there for how you see that map the mail application now shows a travel related emails at the top of your search results as your trip dates approach I have not had this I'm not going on a trip soon so I did not see this but Apple did mention this as a new feature along with big Emoji being able to be added to your messages and then as far as reminders go we do have some changes to reminders as well so the big one is going to be grocery lists so if you go to a new list if you go to add new list you will see that list type we now have groceries and if you click on that and name your list and go to OK if you start typing in at groceries it will auto categorize them so let me show you what I mean and we'll do one last one we'll just put in Gatorade and you can kind of see how it categorizes everything by the category like which aisle you need to go into in the grocery store to get that produce beverages Breads and cereals sauces it does a really good job of breaking this down in the Notes application we can now fill out PDF forms with ease so you can sign you can fill in the blanks where they're needed and everything straight from the Notes application you also get a new view here a new look of PDFs messages now gets all of the same features that we see on iOS 17 but what's interesting here is that we do not have the little plus icon to the left of the typing indicator here so on iOS 17 we have a plus with all of our applications but that did not carry over to Mac OS we still have that old school applications folder however you do get some of the same features like the search filters you get the ketchup and swipe to reply and you also get that new way to share and view live locations and of course stickers how could I forget the big feature of stickers so I'm being sarcastic by the way you can create your own stickers and add them as reactions and a iMessage thread or throughout Mac OS and just like on iOS you can now share air tags or find my accessories with up to five people in the home application you now have activity history so you can now see who unlocked the door who turned the thermostat down you can track all of that with the activity history if we head into our settings and go to privacy and security and scroll down you will see we have sensitive content warning and what this does is it detects nude photos and videos before they are viewed on your Mac just like we see in iOS and then we also have the ability to have communication safety under screen time so if you go to the screen time settings underneath communication limits we have communication safety and from here you can also check for sensitive photo and then also in accessibility we do have the personal voice and live speech features which will use machine learning and AI to basically create a voice an AI clone voice of your own voice you just have to talk for 15 minutes and answer all the prompts and then you can use that with live speech to say things so that is Mac OS 14 Sonoma a pretty minor update but that seems to be the usual with apple these days but this is easily my favorite feature these moving wallpapers on the lock screen and then when you unlock it it kind of just slows and stops and that makes your new wallpaper I think that is just awesome I will definitely be doing that and I hope we can download other videos and do that on here as well in the future but anyways if you guys enjoyed this video I would appreciate if you give it a thumbs up also let me know in a comment down below what your favorite feature in Mac OS Sonoma is and if you want to see more videos on Mac OS Sonoma like later versions along with updates on iOS 17 and watch OS 10 hit that subscribe button down below but anyways guys thanks again for watching thing and I'll see you soonwhat's up guys my name's brand and apple just released the first developer beta for the brand new Mac OS 14 Sonoma and in this video we're going to discuss all of the new features and changes included in the updates and if you're wondering what's new in iOS 17 and watch OS 10 I also made videos on both of those software versions as well those are for example we can go into something and hover over the green right here so if you hover over the green icon on one of your applications you can add that to the call we also have some changes in the Safari application so first off you will notice that the bookmark arcs have icons now so the favicon is next to our websites in our bookmarks and if you don't want that you can right click and disable show icons and it goes back to the old way now one of the biggest new features in Mac osanoma related to Safari is the ability to add web apps to the dock so if I go to file on a website you will see we have a new Option here for add to Dock and when you go to that you can name it whatever you would like and it could also change the icon if you would like to but it does put in the favicon by default and when you tap on ADD you will see it adds it down here to your dock as if it were an application and when you click on that it will open up in its own private window you can see I have another one here for my free newsletter the Apple den and you can see it opens up in its own little window which is pretty neat so I like this feature another big feature in Mac osinoma in Safari is the addition of profiles and what this does is it allows you to keep your browsing separated so it says you may want to set up a profile for work and for school and what this does is it keeps your Safari extensions your history your cookies all of that separated from the rest of your browsing so if you click on new profile you can name your profile you can choose an icon you can also choose if the favorites should use an existing folder or if you want to create a new bookmarks folder Apple also claims that Safari is faster than ever with Mac OS Sonoma and Safari 17 and the web results are also better so you can see if I search for like the heat for example if you search for scores it will show you a live score if it's going on if not it will show you the times right there so a little bit more Rich results when searching I've also noticed that it's just more accurate and you know relevant in general based on what I search now there's a big change to Private Browsing in Mac OS Sonoma just like we have on iOS 17. so you can see that when I go to open a private page a private browsing page here if I go to incognito mode I cannot go in there unless I add my fingerprint or put in my passwords I'm going to go ahead and do that and you can see we have a new section here that says private browsing so not only do you have a password protected incognito mode but they also block known trackers and remove tracking from URLs so it's a little bit better with the kind of privacy you get while private browsing in Safari 17. if we go into our Safari settings and go to tabs you can see that we have a new Option here that says automatically close tabs so you can now automatically close tabs after a day a week or after a month or you could just keep it on manually in the passwords section we have password options if you go into that it's going to allow you to clean up Verification codes so this is a big feature on iOS 17 but what this does is it automatically deletes Verification codes and messages and mail after inserting with autofill definitely a feature I think everybody should have enabled and right below the that is family passwords this allows you to share passwords and pass keys with your family or loved ones when you click on get started it shows you kind of how this works heading over to the Privacy tab we have the ability to turn off required Touch ID to view locked tabs which is in private browsing there's a new developer settings panel right here and then right next to that is a feature flags and this replaces the experimental features section of the develop menu also new in Safari 17 and Mac OS Sonoma is jpeg XL so this is a new image format that will be coming with the new version of safari and if you go down we can see that we also now have support for heic images which is what we take with the iPhone when you are trying to save data so atic are Now supported in Safari there's also a change to the text cursor color which I did mention briefly earlier we also have a change to live text so Safari 17 adds support for vertical text right recognition in images and videos Apple pay now works in third-party iframes by using the allow payment attribute we have some changes to lockdown mode so all of these have been added to lockdown mode and we have some changes to Safari extensions as well also included in Mac OS Sonoma is game mode so Apple seems to be focusing on gaming more heavily than they have in years past and they announced several big name titles coming to the Mac later this year so you can see some of them are mentioned right here so apple is focusing on gaming and this new game mode is going to be pretty awesome so you can see what it does is it automatically gives maximum CPU and GPU priority to the game by lowering usage for other background tasks but the best part about this is that it dramatically reduces latency with Wireless accessories like air pods and your favorite controllers so that should be you know get giving us zero audio lag or any type of lag with a controller and to add on to that game mode we can also now disable pointer acceleration this is huge if you use a keyboard and mouse for gaming because this prevents your mouse from accelerating so fast and kind of just allows you for more Precision which is a great feature for especially FPS games in the photos application if you go to your albums on the left hand side you will see that people is now people and pets so this includes pets now with your people which is nice visual lookup can also find similar recipes when it detects food and you can tell it detects food with this little icon up here on the top right if you click on that it will show about the image and then it will show you what it thinks could be a similar recipe to what it has detected the weather application has a couple of new changes so the wind now has a much bigger section here and it shows the average wind speed along with the gusts and then down here we have the the moon statistics you can see elimination next Moonrise and next full moon and if you click on that you get even more details about it down in the bottom right it shows the average temperature compared to what the current temperature is if it's above or below average and you can click on that to see more details and if you go into the precipitation map you can change this to have a wind map as well so there's just an additional option there for how you see that map the mail application now shows a travel related emails at the top of your search results as your trip dates approach I have not had this I'm not going on a trip soon so I did not see this but Apple did mention this as a new feature along with big Emoji being able to be added to your messages and then as far as reminders go we do have some changes to reminders as well so the big one is going to be grocery lists so if you go to a new list if you go to add new list you will see that list type we now have groceries and if you click on that and name your list and go to OK if you start typing in at groceries it will auto categorize them so let me show you what I mean and we'll do one last one we'll just put in Gatorade and you can kind of see how it categorizes everything by the category like which aisle you need to go into in the grocery store to get that produce beverages Breads and cereals sauces it does a really good job of breaking this down in the Notes application we can now fill out PDF forms with ease so you can sign you can fill in the blanks where they're needed and everything straight from the Notes application you also get a new view here a new look of PDFs messages now gets all of the same features that we see on iOS 17 but what's interesting here is that we do not have the little plus icon to the left of the typing indicator here so on iOS 17 we have a plus with all of our applications but that did not carry over to Mac OS we still have that old school applications folder however you do get some of the same features like the search filters you get the ketchup and swipe to reply and you also get that new way to share and view live locations and of course stickers how could I forget the big feature of stickers so I'm being sarcastic by the way you can create your own stickers and add them as reactions and a iMessage thread or throughout Mac OS and just like on iOS you can now share air tags or find my accessories with up to five people in the home application you now have activity history so you can now see who unlocked the door who turned the thermostat down you can track all of that with the activity history if we head into our settings and go to privacy and security and scroll down you will see we have sensitive content warning and what this does is it detects nude photos and videos before they are viewed on your Mac just like we see in iOS and then we also have the ability to have communication safety under screen time so if you go to the screen time settings underneath communication limits we have communication safety and from here you can also check for sensitive photo and then also in accessibility we do have the personal voice and live speech features which will use machine learning and AI to basically create a voice an AI clone voice of your own voice you just have to talk for 15 minutes and answer all the prompts and then you can use that with live speech to say things so that is Mac OS 14 Sonoma a pretty minor update but that seems to be the usual with apple these days but this is easily my favorite feature these moving wallpapers on the lock screen and then when you unlock it it kind of just slows and stops and that makes your new wallpaper I think that is just awesome I will definitely be doing that and I hope we can download other videos and do that on here as well in the future but anyways if you guys enjoyed this video I would appreciate if you give it a thumbs up also let me know in a comment down below what your favorite feature in Mac OS Sonoma is and if you want to see more videos on Mac OS Sonoma like later versions along with updates on iOS 17 and watch OS 10 hit that subscribe button down below but anyways guys thanks again for watching thing and I'll see you soon\n"
