The Mi Max has a camera performance that is good, especially in outdoor shots and indoor shots when they are well-lit. However, it struggles with low lighting conditions and artificial lighting conditions. I recorded this video using the rear-facing camera of the Mi Max, which is set to 1080p at its highest setting. It was a bit windy while recording, but I wanted to show you how the video would look like if I walked around while recording.
To give you an idea about the video recording with the front-facing camera of the Mi Max, I recorded this part of the video in outdoor lighting conditions. The audio is also being recorded with the internal microphone, and it's a bit windy.
The Mi Max has a 1080p IPS-grade screen that is actually really good. I didn't have any issues with the screen quality, and it also has an auto-brightness sensor that works well. However, it may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who want to use it as a normal smartphone or take a lot of voice calls.
Regarding the speaker, it has just one single speaker, which is not ideal. However, it gets the job done, and I found it okay even while watching YouTube videos. On the other hand, it's a mono speaker, so it may not be the best option for those who want stereo sound.
The Mi Max supports some sensors that are useful for certain applications. It has compass and gyroscope sensors, which worked fine with 360-degree YouTube videos and virtual reality headsets. It also has GPS navigation, which worked well too.
However, there are some downsides to the Mi Max. One major con is its huge size, which can be cumbersome if you want to use it as a normal smartphone or take a lot of voice calls. I would not recommend this phone for those who take a lot of voice calls, but it's great for media consumption.
I also noticed that sometimes WhatsApp messages wouldn't come through when the phone was on standby for a long time. However, disabling power-saving modes in the Mi settings seemed to fix the issue.
Regarding the headphone jack, the music quality is fine, but I had to keep the volume levels pretty high due to the average amplification. If you're using heavy-duty headphones, you may need an amp.
Overall, I would say that the Mi Max is a decent device, but it's not for everyone. It's best suited for someone who wants a mini tablet rather than a smartphone and consumes a lot of media. The battery life is good, but if you take a lot of voice calls or use the phone extensively, it may not be suitable.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi there this is Ranjit and in this video we'll be doing the full review for the Xiaomi me max which is a massive smartphone sporting a six point four four inch screen I don't know what you call this you call it a phablet or do you call it a mini tablet and I've been testing this device for almost two weeks now so I will be giving my pros and cons in this review I won't go into depth regarding the physical overview and other aspects of this device because I have already covered all those aspects in my unboxing video here are the specs on the sides so that it gives you an idea but basically you can say that this is a massive redmi note 3 because the internals are very close to the redmi note 3 and this me max comes in two variants this is the base variant that I'm using that comes with three gigabytes of RAM with 32 gigabytes of internal storage there is also one more model actually that comes with 4 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of internal storage but as I've said I've done all my testing on this 3 gigabyte RAM model that sells in India for about 15,000 rupees so let me actually divide this review between the pros and the cons and first let's talk about the things that I liked about this device I would say this is a device that is not for everybody and if you are looking for just a smart phone this is not for you the biggest selling point of this device is the screen that's a six point four four inch screen and as you can see it's massive here is a phone that is having a 5.2 inch screen and as you can see the difference is huge so let me actually show you the sister Xiaomi me5 off and single difference as you can see it's a massive device and I would say this would be ideal for people who are who want a device for a lot of media consumption because it has such a big screen it's great to consume media like watching videos watching YouTube stuff and general browsing is also very good but again it's 200 device it's very difficult to use it with a single hand yes there are software tools that shrink down the screen but again holding it in a single hand is nothing short of doing gymnastics I would say so it's a 200 device so this is what it is and the next thing that I really liked about this device is the battery life that I was getting it has a massive battery as you can see it's huge phone hence it has a 4850 milliamp hour battery and as you can see from the stats on the screen the battery life is nothing but short of incredible you can easily get over 8 to 9 hours of screen on time and this was with almost two days of charge with a single full day use I have seen many users reporting about 10 hours of screen on time so in terms of battery life the battery life was very good on this device also the standby drain is very good very minimum standby train thanks to the Snapdragon 650 SOC which is actually very efficient in terms of battery now you might ask what about the charging time because it is having that huge 4850 milliamp power battery I would say don't use the supplied charger because that is just a normal charger not a fast charger I did test this with a fast charger Qualcomm fast charger and wit was around 16% from 16% to 100% it took just to us with a fast charger but I think I didn't test it with the regular charger that was supplied that's not a fast charger with that it might take over three and a half hours to charge next thing is it has that fingerprint scanner here on the back and a good thing is that the fingerprint scanner is very responsive as you can see if I just tap in it unlocks so it's very responsive but one thing I don't like is the positioning of the fingerprint scanner of the normal other phones which are narrower I would say it's fine but on this you have to really stretch for the fingerprint scanner it would have been great if they could have put it here on the home button but yeah I got used to it after for five days so initially yeah I didn't like the placement of the fingerprint scanner but in terms of functionality it did work as expected and it's way responsive as you can see now moving to cellular call quality again here the cellular call quality was very good I did test it with two different SIM cards it's a dual SIM device I tested it with Airtel 4G and with its l3 gia and heather abbath and I did not have any network issues even the cellular call quality was good but again one thing to notice that if you plan to take a lot of voice calls with this one just be beware because it's a very wide device as you can see and when you take calls like this yeah if it's a small call for one or two minutes it's fine but after five minutes my hand palm started to pain a little bit so if you are a person who takes a lot of long voice calls I would not recommend this phone or else user what do you say headset or a Bluetooth headset but holding the phone like this after five minutes your hand starts to pain a little bit that's what I have noticed now moving to another good thing is that I did quite a bit of gaming also with this device and it performed very well in gaming even with heavy games like asphalt and new Utley so for gaming also it was good yes it heated up till 43 degrees Celsius but the back was not that hot so even for gaming I would say it performed pretty well and the good thing is that it comes with 32 gigabytes of internal storage so if you are sort of a gamer also then this device is a good device in my opinion now moving to the camera performance again the camera performance is very similar to what I got with the redmi note 3 but let me actually show you the samples so that you can get an idea so as you can see in terms of camera performance I would say outdoor shots are good and also indoor shots if that's well lit they come out to be good but again in low lighting conditions and extremely artificial lighting conditions it tends to struggle up quite a bit recording this video with the rear facing camera of the me Max and I'm recording it at the highest setting that is 1080p and it is a little bit windy the me max does not have any optical image stabilization so it's a bad idea to shoot video walking in but I'm just walking to give you an idea how would be the video if you walk around so this should give you an idea about the video recording with the me max recording this part of the video with a front-facing camera of the shun Max and this is sort of outdoor lighting conditions the audio is also being recorded with the internal microphone and it's a little bit windy so this should give you an idea about the video recording with the front-facing camera of the minutes next thing is that regarding screen quality it is having a 1080p IPS grade screen and the screen quality is actually really good I didn't have any issues with the screen quality it also has auto brightness sensor and it sort of works so no problems regarding the screen quality moving to the speaker again it has just a single speaker over here and it's sort of adequately loud it gets the job that I would say even in while I was watching YouTube videos and stuff it was okay but again it's just a single a mono speaker now coming to some of the other sensors it does support what do you say the compass and the gyroscope sensor and I did test it with YouTube 360 degrees videos they worked fine so it will also work with virtual reality headsets and stuff and also I also tested it with GPS navigation and that also worked fine so these were some of the things that I liked about this me max but now let's move to some of the things that I did not like the cons with the me max again as this might be the biggest con also for this device and it might be a pro also the biggest con for me is this huge size if you want to use it like a normal smartphone and if you take a lot of voice calls I would not recommend this phone so again great for media consumption but if you take a lot of voice calls then it can be sort of cumbersome because of its size another thing that I did notice is that specifically for whatsapp when the phone was on standby for a long time some of the whatsapp messages were not coming and when I switched on the phone and switched on whatsapp then only started coming I could my get those things if I went to the me settings power and I disabled all the power saving modes so by default the default setting is that some of the whatsapp messages were not coming so I would suggest if you are having that problem and some users with the redmi note 3 also complained me so go to the me UI settings inside that in the power profiles just shut off every power mode and now whatsapp messages are working but I think so this is sort of a bug that Xiaomi should work on now moving to the headphone jack the music quality is fine but I did notice that I had to keep the volume levels pretty high almost at 85 or 90 percent levels so the amplification is not that the great for example if with my Audio Technica m4 TX I had to keep it at 100% and then also it does not start loud so that is one thing I'm aware of so if you are using heavy duty headphones you might require an amp for it because the amplification is strictly very average in my opinion now I'm moving to a overall conclusion I would say as you see it's a decent device but it's not for everyone I would say this is a device for a person who is looking for sort of a mini tablet rather than a smartphone and if you take very few voice calls and generally consume a lot of media then this might be a okay device for you the good thing is that it's great for media consumption the battery life was also very good but again if you take talks like this and you have to take long calls then it is simply not recommended because it can paint your hands if you hold it more than about five six minutes like this I hope you found this video review helpful I've also posted the gaming review for this me max a link for that video will be in the YouTube show notes so if you found this video helpful I'll appreciate if you can click the like button and if you're not subscribed to my youtube
