I Bought A Gaming PC On Wish.com, But Got This Instead...
**A Mixed Experience with Chewie: A Gaming Laptop Review**
The country where I'm from has a really good display that it's got, it does have color shift and brightness shift, and stuff off to the side. It's like it's definitely a TN panel but still very good. Okay, so we've got a Celeron N4020 which is a two-core, two-thread CPU that's clocked at 1.1 gigahertz. Chewie's not gonna game very well, but on the bright side, it has no VD bloatware on it and it's got a 1080p display which may actually make gaming even more challenging.
I have to admit, at this point, my excitement for Chewie is slowly fading because it took me over 20 minutes just to install Steam and MSI Afterburner, two pieces of software that took over 20 minutes to install. So, let's very optimistically start with GTA V. Well, another considerable chunk of my life has now been erased by this laptop, but we've launched into GTA V so let's get the graphics setting up. Oh, oh no, wait once everything's loaded, just give it a minute. Come on Chewie, you can do it. Maybe you can't. Okay, maybe never. Never mind, uh let's see if we can drop the resolution further to 800x600. Is that the lowest we can go? I feel like that's running worse considering that I was looking for a gaming system when this all started out. I am highly disappointed by what's happening here.
Well, we've we've just lost some bridge there, so yeah, I'd say this is going well. Okay, so a very playable GTA V gaming experience? Yeah, let's let's try something else. Oh, there goes the bridge. Okay, well, I've had to kick all the bots, but um, I mean it's not great, but it's running way better than GTA 5. We've gone over 25 for we've broken 30 frames per second now this is getting out of hand. Calm down Chewie, it doesn't seem to fare nearly as well online though. Damn, I don't think I've ever seen DOTA run this badly. Oh, i actually got the last hit there, i'm not sure why, is the frame rate slowly increasing over time? That's it's a bit unusual, I guess dota is i don't want to say playable but this is definitely the best experience we've had up until this point. I mean trust dota to be borderline playable on a Chewie, wow! It's defaulted to 1280 by 600, let's push it, let's push it up to 720p so that we can maintain like a proper aspect ratio 80 frames per second for Half-Life 2 though? Is brutal. Wow, we even have frame drops in this small environment here, but I mean this is probably a very similar gaming experience to what you would have had on PCs when Half-Life 2 was first launched back in the day.
I feel like if you go on 50 frames per second average for Half-Life 2 back in 2004, you would have been pretty happy with that. This is like one of the worst performing areas in the game. While not amazing it's kind of playable. This is this is pretty cool although I do think uh I do think this is the worst Half-Life 2 gaming experience I've had since starting the YouTube channel at the end of the day, we didn't really get a gaming PC by most definitions of the word but we got a functioning little Chewie off of wish.com. It may be the kind of device that gets air-dropped into third world countries but that's one of the things that I really like about Chewie, it's a device designed to make computing more accessible to people and to teach them an important lesson in patience and besides if you do live in a little Amazonian village and one of these gets air-dropped in, you can play Half-Life 2 on it which is really cool.
And that brings me to the end of the video. Thank you very much for watching if you liked it please do subscribe to the channel if you want to support more Chewie purchases consider buying a 3D T-shirt linked in the description below and until the next video, thank you for watching bye!
WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enas a self-proclaimed connoisseur of buying random crap on the internet i browse wish.com semi-regularly where i found that they started listing gaming prebuilts as an option which obviously got me frothing at the trousers with excitement so i immediately placed an order for one and started waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting until months down the line i got a message from wish saying that they'd run out of stock now i was infuriated by this message but wish gave me a couple of options to try and defuse the situation either i could just get a full refund or i could choose an alternative product from a predetermined list so after wading through all the sex toys and rgb toilet seat covers i found the closest thing to a gaming pc in this list which is this a laptop from wish that cost 400 dollars yeah now before we get into that though it's time for a sponsor for today's video today's video is sponsored by lenode which is a fast powerful and affordable linux based web hosting platform lenode is a great choice if you want to host a wordpress site games server file sharing server or maybe even your own vbn but more than that they also have some beefy servers that you can use for computational loads one of the main things that sets the node apart other than the fact that they don't want to become the overarching ruler of the universe is the fact that they have some of the best customer support with 24 7 open phone lines if this sounds good to you use the link in my description below for a hundred dollar free credit thank you very much lenode for sponsoring today's video now let's open up what is one hundred percent the same package as what was shown earlier in the intro uh there definitely wasn't a case of mistaken package identity oh oh look at that oh it's a nicely prepared box with uh a bunch of stickers so you can change the language of the keyboard with stickers that's useful especially for a product that you're shipping internationally that kind of makes sense this is actually a laptop i think this looks like a thing that's gonna be a real product uh it's not a gaming pc but i think we may have a functioning computer here oh look at that tiny little power brick it makes me feel really comfortable with my anatomy for some reason um it's only 24 watts which means that this is not much of a beast of a laptop but we'll see how it games later on because you know we did want a gaming pc and then finally we have the chewy uh that's a really good brand name i i would i would call buy anything i made chewy oh look at that it's like a little chewy laptop oh wow the autofocus does not like it at all did that help no way that works well this is quite a neat little laptop it's got like a metallic silvery surface it's very plasticky but it is it is a very affordable laptop so that it makes sense on the back there's not a huge amount going on here we can see that it's called the hero book pro but other than that we don't have any ventilation or anything which again implies this is a very low powered notebook uh we do have a bit of a glory hole over here which gives us easy access to m.2 upgrades i really like that that's a nice feature as far as i o goes on this side we have a usb port microphone headphone jack and a micro sd card slot and then on the other side we've got another usb 3 port a charge port and then like a mini hdmi port which is which is interesting i've not seen one of those on a laptop before on the inside we as standard get an english layout here um those those are not great feeling keys uh but we've got a nice big track pad over here with a celeron inside gaming on this thing is going to be uh going to be an interesting exercise we have a 13-inch display i think this is with a pretty decent webcam placement uh but yeah let's open it up and have a look inside this bad boy under here we have a 256 gig sata based uh ssd which is a reasonable amount of storage for a laptop in this price point oh that's very malleable plastic oh that does not feel great oh oh it's just the glory hole cover oh whoa there is like nothing going on under here what that is an amazing laptop undercarriage it feels like i'm doing irreparable damage to this laptop opening it up okay so chewy does not like being opened um yeah i'm gonna i'm gonna use it first before i get the back off it feels like i'm gonna break it and i don't wanna break it before before actually testing it okay so it is now the future um we've done all the testing and stuff so i can hopefully not break chewy but we're gonna make a concerted effort to get inside chewie i feel like there's something to do with the display hinge because it's it's kind of in that area that it's just not letting go okay maybe there's something under the feet that's why it won't let go there are two screws under the feet that is sneaky chewy there's chewie's undercarriage uh as you can see this is what i really wanted to show you there is not a whole lot going on under there so this is a 5 000 milliamp hour battery uh which isn't super high but considering the low power components i think the battery life should be really good on chewy oh it's so cute so you've got the main actual laptop bit of chewy so this is this is its brain and then on this side you've just got an extra pcb for the i o on this side it seems to be passive so we don't have any fans here the only thing cooling that cpu is this bit of copper okay there we go wow that's the smallest thermal solution i think i've ever seen on a cpu they just use like a thin sheet of copper to cool that cpu that's pretty impressive that we were only hitting about 70 degrees celsius with it here we've got the tiny bit of laptop brain um unfortunately the ram is actually soldered into place so you can't really upgrade it but uh yeah it's it's just a tiny little chip as well it actually that that celeron looks suspiciously like a gts 450 die which kind of just reminded me that this is actually a wish product that we're looking at here which is pretty surprising actually what's pretty cool about the way that they designed chewie is that you actually have access to the only upgradable thing in it so you know it doesn't really matter that much that they put so much effort into keeping you out of the insides of this laptop chewy that plastic look at that the whole laptop flexes when you now the first thing that's obvious is considering that this is like the kind of laptop that they airdrop into the country that i'm from it's got a really good display in it it does have color shift and brightness shift and stuff off to the side it's like it's it's definitely a tn panel but still it's very good okay so we've got a celeron n4020 which is a
