Creating Creepy Head Image in a Jar: A Halloween DIY Project
To create a creepy head image in a jar, you will need to take a panoramic photo of your face using a smartphone. Set your camera to the Pano setting and figure out what face you want to make. Try some different expressions until you find one that looks good on a head in a jar. Start your camera on the side of your face and slowly move it around your entire head to get a panoramic shot. Don't worry if this doesn't work out the first time, as it may take a few tries to get it right.
It's also important to note that the photo will look lighter once it's in water, so you may want to adjust the contrast to make your features stand out more. To do this, measure the height of your jar and make sure to leave enough room for the laminate around the edges. Print your image on a piece of 8 1/2 by 11 paper, as it doesn't have to be perfectly centered in the jar. Scaling down the image slightly will also help you fit it into the jar.
Once you have printed your image, place the jar on it and trim it to size. You may need to trim a border around the edges to leave about 4-5 mm of space. Use a bone folder or a flat object like an ID card to smooth out any air bubbles that form during the laminating process.
Filling Your Jars with Water
To complete your creepy head image in a jar, fill it up with water. If you want to add some extra dimension and realism to your jar, consider using faux fur on the sides of the head or adding more images of hair. You can also use a straightforward shot instead of a panoramic, which will make the head look slightly squished but still effective.
Adding Spooky Touches
To take your creepy head image in a jar to the next level, consider adding some spooky touches like spiderwebs and spiders. You can find these at most Halloween stores or online. If you want to play a prank on someone, try sticking the jars in the refrigerator and watching their reaction when they discover them.
Displaying Your Creepy Head Image
Once you have completed your creepy head image in a jar, you can display it proudly as part of your Halloween decor. These jars make great conversation starters and are sure to get a lot of laughs at any Halloween party. If you want to add more to your collection, consider making one for yourself or giving them as gifts.
Tips and Variations
* Consider using heat laminate if you don't want to risk water damaging your photo.
* Use regular laminate if you're short on time but be aware that it may only last a day.
* Experiment with different colors and materials to add more dimension and realism to your jar.
* Try adding some creepy creatures or objects to the background of your jar for an extra scare.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello it's Jennifer from sea lemon this week I have been showing you how to make some creepy Halloween decor projects and for today's dose of creepiness I want to show you how to make a head in a jar I've seen this around online and it's usually done as a prank but I think it can make really funny and creepy Halloween decor a lot of the existing tutorials show that you need to make your head image with merged photos in a photo editor but I will show you a much easier and faster method using your smartphone and if you don't have a SmartPhone I will show you what it looks like with just a straightforward image when I tried this project out for the first time I will tell you I found one thing that the tutorials don't tell you is that it's really difficult to prevent the water from leaking in and ruining your photo if you use regular laminate The Faded photo still does look creepy but it's not realistic to avoid water from leaking in you can leave the water out or you can use heat laminate which does require a machine but it completely seals your photo you can also take it up to a print shop where they usually have machines otherwise if you use regular laminate your jars may only last up to a day so you might want to consider making these on Halloween if you want to show them off that day okay let's get into it to make your head image with a smartphone stand in front of a mirror or get someone to take the photo for you I'm going to use my bathroom mirror set your camera to the Pano setting to make a panoramic photo figure out what face you want to make just try some whatever face you would make if your head was in a jar holding that expression start your camera on the side of your face and then slowly move your camera around your entire head to get your panoramic shot don't get discouraged if this doesn't work out the first time it may take a couple of tries to get it and don't worry about any Distortion because you can't really see that once they are in the jar and here is a straightforward shot so I can show you what that's going to look like later your picture might look even lighter once it's in water so if you want to up the contrast on your photo so that your features show up more to determine the size of your photo measure the height of your jar and make it just a little bit smaller so that you have room for the laminate around the edges I'm going to print this on a piece of 8 1/2 by 11 paper it's fine if you print your image larger than you need it I just estimated the height that I needed and it doesn't doesn't have to be perfectly centered in the jar so I scaled it to a rough estimate and then hit print now place the jar on your image to get an idea of where you need to trim it again making it smaller than the height of the jar so that you have room for the laminate edges test it out as you go and then trim what you need to until you get a size that fits in the jar but still has enough room on the top and bottom I then used two pieces of one-sided laminate to laminate my photo and you want to trim off any extra that you don't need in your jar you might find that you only need half of a sheet so I just Ed the one half and then save the other for another face make sure to completely press out any air bubbles on each side and repeat this step on the other side so that both sides are laminated and trim a border so that you have about 4 to 5 mm around the edges and for good measure once again smooth it out to prevent any air bubbles I'm using a bone folder for this but you can also use something flat like an ID card now fill your jars up with water and if you want to add some creepy color try some food coloring to the water you can mix the colors if you want to but this part is totally optional I just think it adds a little something extra to these jars now this head is ready to go in the jar and if you want to add more Dimension try some faux fur on the sides of the head you can also cut pieces from a wig and add those I just think this adds a little more realism to the heads and really makes them pop from the jar and if you use a straightforward shot instead of a panoramic use something like faux fur or even more image of hair on the sides so that it fills the jar even more just like a panoramic does and you can see here that the straightforward shot does work the head is a little more squished but as long as you fill the sides I think it works just as well I also got some friends to join in on the fun so I made one for Karen and then Julia I tried to match all of their hair types but I could only find curly blonde hair for Meg so me here is some curly Dew for you and here are the final jars if you want to add some extra Halloween decor try some spooky spiderwebs complete with spiders if you wanted to try the prank version you could stick these in the refrigerator and totally creep someone out I think these are definite conversation starters at any Halloween party and I think these just make really funny and creepy Halloween decor give this video a thumbs up and if you make a head in a jar I would love to see your creepy pictures so share
