that the brand new apple tv is actually more powerful than iphone 6. but the reason why they've made it so powerful is because the apple tv now supports full sized apps and games as well so there's a new category in the app store which same as with the apple watch will feature a ton of apple tv supported apps and gained and just as i mentioned before there's also a brand new remote that comes with the new apple tv i wonder how many times i've said apple tv we definitely need a counter for that and the new remote is simply awesome so it comes with a touchpad series support comes with an accelerometer a gyroscope and it also comes with a rechargeable battery which you charge via a lightning connector so no more buying any external batteries and the battery is supposed to last you for a couple of months which again is pretty cool the new remote is basically the main way of controlling your apple tv however you can also use your iphone or even ipad to control your apple tv games and in case you're wondering yes there are a few third-party controllers that are actually coming to the apple tv so yeah the first thing that has changed from the previous model is this the performance you can now play full games use third-party controllers or your phone or ipad to control those games and you can do that on your full size tv so yeah the previous model didn't have an app store well now this one this one does so this is the first thing that you should know before buying the new apple tv it's incredibly powerful and now it's essentially a game console as well although don't expect to play any batman arkham 9 on this one the only games that you will be playing are going to be mobile games so basically anything that you can play on your iphone you'll be able to play on the new apple tv as well so no call of duty or anything like that now the second thing that you should know is that the new apple tv has been redesigned but not in a good way so now it's both taller or thicker depending on how you put it and heavier than the previous model so it's 35 millimeters tall versus 23 millimeters and weighs 425 grams compared to just 272. and if you're that kind of person who travels a lot and who brings their apple tv everywhere keep in mind that the new one is definitely more difficult to both carry and fit into a bag although if you're traveling a chromecast is most expensive setup box yet but in the end the question is do you actually need an apple tv i mean if you have a computer if you have a laptop you can simply connect that by hdmi to your tv and play all the movies from there and you have a console you can play some epic games right on your tv games which are definitely not playable on this so it doesn't do anything new and before i leave i just want to mention one more bonus feature and that is the streaming service so in case you've seen my september apple event watch expect video i said that apple is going to announce a brand new movie streaming service most probably called apple movies and apple hasn't announced anything yet but it's definitely going to happen i'm not exactly sure if it's going to come to the current apple tv or just the new ones my guess would be both but that's coming as well most probably in october i think they'll announce this at the apple event because yes there's going to be a brand new apple event in
