things have happened rather what we have is an official date for the iphone 12 event september 15th at 1 p.m eastern 9 a.m pacific time so uh what's going on let's try to get to the bottom of it so this is definitely not the video that i was expecting to make today i've been sitting here for about two and a half hours because we were expecting to get new products at 9am i'm sitting here at 11 26 and i figured you know what screw it i've already been sitting here ready to make a video so let's make a video i don't have a script i don't have any talking points this is just completely off the cuff now the first thing that i got to say right off the bat is now that we have an official date for the iphone 12 event you're gonna definitely wanna head over and follow me on twitch that is a channel that i created just a couple of days ago like a week ago something like that and i made it with the express purpose of you know using that to stream apple events because the last time i tried to stream wwdc here on the channel noah and i racked up like 2700 live viewers it was crazy and then apple was like no no no not today and they shut our stream down within like two minutes so uh yeah but setting all that aside here's how the event and my coverage of it is going to go on september 15th whatever time in your time zone apple will be streaming the live event we will go live an hour beforehand just like we did with wwdc noah and i are going to go live an hour early and we're gonna talk about what we're expecting field some questions and just kind of hang out for an hour or so that event is going to be on youtube and twitch but as soon as wwdc starts we are going to shut down the youtube live stream so i don't get a copyright strike and get my channel shut down and then we're going to go over to twitch exclusively for the actual event coverage so we're doing that to kind of give some of you guys who maybe don't want to go on twitch for some reason or maybe you want to watch the event for yourself you can join us on youtube but i highly encourage you to follow me over on twitch and mark down in your calendars an hour before apple's iphone event that's when we are going to go live all right so let's get into what we didn't hear today so the rumor was that there was going to be an apple watch series 6 and an ipad air the ipad air rumors were a little bit confusing and i think it kind of makes sense now that they didn't announce it today you know they say hindsight is 20 20. i really can't deny that like i was a little bit skeptical about all of these rumors especially the touch id and the power button i'm still not sold on that a lot of people were saying a lot of like credible leakers were saying it was gonna have an a14 chip and for me personally i was just like there's no way it is literally zero percent chance that apple would announce something with an a14 chip before the iphone they don't do that so as soon as i heard a14 and the ipad air i was like either that rumor is false or the ipad air isn't coming yet now it seems like that rumor could be true at this point seeing as we don't have an ipad air but that likely means that this ipad is going to come at the same event or just after the iphone on september 15th now we won't have to wait too long only a week so definitely get excited get strapped in because we're gonna have a lot of coverage of whatever goes on at that event but there is something else that is going on here which is that i have to amend my previous video it's just a couple of days old but that was back when we were sort of under the assumption that apple was going to be holding a much later event because the iphones are coming much later iphone 12 has not entered full final production yet so it's still going to be a couple of weeks for that so we were kind of assuming that the iphone event was going to be crammed in with apple silicon and maybe some other loose ends in early october but now it's looking like that's not going to happen which means that we could end up with two apple events this year this i think would make sense because it gives apple the chance to kind of space out their product launches and separate the iphone from apple silicon which are two major announcements for them so here's here's what we're kind of looking at right now it's it's sort of reverting to more of a standard apple fall launch uh even though it's in this virtual setting it's sort of reverting back to what we would consider something somewhat typical but if you're looking for guidance as to what this fall might look like let's take a look back at 2016 because that's where something similar to this happened so on september 7th 2016 apple had their iphone event they announced the apple watch series 2 and the iphone 7 and 7 plus and then as a little bonus they gave us airpods so that could be a format that we could see here now in 2016 in october they also held the mac event that was where the touch bar thunderbolt 3 port macbook pro was unveiled that was on october 27th which was a tuesday i'm pretty sure they're all tuesdays nope it was a thursday i'm an idiot okay well either way we can we could probably expect that something similar would happen again at the end of october probably the last week of october which i think this year would be i'm looking at my calendar uh october 27th would be a tuesday or october 29th would be a thursday so those are probably uh decently likely dates for another apple event obviously we won't find out we won't have confirmation on that until about a week in advance as we are getting now so don't hold your breath don't expect that we're gonna hear anything about that next week at the iphone event hey i'm sorry to interrupt myself but i just said something that might already be outdated and i've only been editing this video for 20 minutes so apparently mark german is saying that apple won't announce the iphone until october and that this event on september 15th is only about the apple watch and the ipad air now ah what is that even enough to fill up an event i don't think so also if the ipad air has an a14 chip then there's like a zero percent chance that they announced that before the iphone so what's going on here i have no idea this is just a very strange situation but anyway i'm now going to send you back to a video where i'm going to say something that with this new information is going to sound very strange and that means that next week we should expect a keynote with iphone 12 as well as apple watch series 6 and an apple watch se which is basically the guts of a series six inside the body of a series three i think that'll probably be a decent seller and then we'll probably also get the ipad air at that same event so that kind of makes sense keeping keeping the iphone ipad and wearables together seems logical to me and then that kind of opens the door for another later october event because i think personally it would be unlikely for apple to unveil their new apple silicon macs like the 12-inch macbook and the 13-inch macbook pro that we talked about in my last video i think that would be pretty unlikely for them to to do that next week that would be a ridiculously crowded event having another event in october could also give apple the opportunity to make some auxiliary announcements for example they could launch homepod mini maybe they could give us a teaser of apple glass although that's pretty unlikely that's probably going to be a next year thing it's also possible that apple will use that to to basically give us an update on where they are with apple silicon that would kind of for one fulfill the deadline that they set for themselves of a new apple silicon mac by the end of the year and two it would give them an opportunity to explain where they're going in the future for example i mentioned at the end of my last video that apple is working on a dedicated graphics card so that's something that developers might want to know about now i'm not sure if they would talk about that at this event maybe they would even spend a good bit of time talking about a new redesigned imac that's something that we have been struggling to figure out where it might fit in we've heard rumors since may and june really that there was going to be a brand new completely redesigned imac this is such an old rumor that we initially thought it was going to be an intel imac that's how old this rumor is but eventually it became clear oh this is going to be an apple silicon imac so now this this could make some sense here if we're expecting to see apple working on five nanometer dedicated gpus starting in 2021 then what we could see in october is a three-part launch 12-inch macbook 13-inch macbook pro both of which are not major major updates major redesigns so those might be a little bit more quiet and then have a teaser for a 24-inch imac that would be available sometime early next year and you know the clock is ticking because we know that apple has promised us an apple silicon mac by the end of the year and last time i checked it's september 8th right now which means they don't have a lot of time so needless to say do not buy a macbook right now a macbook air macbook pro don't buy them even if even if you don't care about apple silicon wait for apple silicon so that the intel macbooks get cheaper it's just common sense but at the very least i am excited to have something to talk about because quite frankly this summer has
