R32 Sedan Reborn - My Craziest Car EVER!

The day's work began with two main goals: completing the R32 and fine-tuning the GTR. The R32, a car that had been sitting idle for some time, was finally brought to life, its efficiency range expanded to unlock its full potential. As the engine roared to life, it became clear that this car was an animal, with a power band that was both efficient and devastatingly effective.

Mike, the owner, took the reins, adjusting the gearing to optimize the car's performance. The 3-3 gearing proved to be the sweet spot, allowing the car to feel more responsive and agile. The engine's transient response was also improved, making it feel smoother and more refined. With the R32 finally in top form, Mike turned his attention to the GTR.

The GTR, a car that had been struggling with its tuning, received a thorough overhaul. Jamie, a skilled tuner, worked his magic, fine-tuning the engine's performance to bring out its full potential. The results were nothing short of astonishing, as the car's power output increased dramatically. With the GTR now humming along smoothly, Mike was eager to take it for a spin and see how it performed.

As Mike took the GTR out for a drive, he couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. The car's performance was nothing short of incredible, with its power band stretching far beyond what most owners would expect. But there were still some tweaks to be made, as the car's transient response could benefit from further refinement.

Despite the challenges, Mike was determined to get the GTR dialed in, pushing it to its limits and beyond. The results were impressive, as the car's performance became even more refined and efficient. With the GTR now singing like a well-tuned songbird, Mike couldn't wait to see how it would handle on the track.

Meanwhile, back at the shop, Pete, the owner's beloved Chihuahua, was getting into mischief. Colette, Mike's partner, had taken Pete out for a visit to Long Beach, where he enjoyed the sights and sounds of the city. But as much as Pete loved his outing, he couldn't help but miss his favorite toy car, which he'd been left behind.

To console Pete, Mike brought him along to the shop, setting up a special doggy seat for him to enjoy while watching the cars be worked on. And so, with Pete by his side, Mike was able to focus on the task at hand, determined to get both the R32 and GTR in top form.

But as the day wore on, Mike encountered some unexpected challenges. The gate, which had been stuck, proved difficult to open, and the car's speed limit needed to be adjusted. Jamie, who'd arrived earlier that morning, suggested a boost increase, but Mike was hesitant, fearing that it would put too much stress on the car.

In the end, they settled on a compromise, increasing the boost slightly before backing off to 21-22 pounds, which proved to be a sweet spot for the car's performance. And as Mike took the GTR out for another spin, he was thrilled with the results, the car handling like a dream and leaving him grinning from ear to ear.

The day had been filled with excitement and anticipation, as Mike worked tirelessly to bring both cars up to par. But despite the challenges, the rewards had been well worth it, as Mike reveled in the joy of driving two truly exceptional machines.

As the sun began to set on another successful day, Mike couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and satisfaction. The R32 was purring like a contented cat, its efficiency range expanded to unlock its full potential. And the GTR, now dialed in to perfection, was humming along smoothly, its power output stretched far beyond what most owners would expect.

For Mike, this had been a day that would be remembered for a long time to come, filled with excitement and anticipation as he worked tirelessly to bring both cars up to par. And as he packed up his tools and headed home, he couldn't wait to get back behind the wheel of one (or both) of these incredible machines.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwelcome to today's video guys if you remember the last video we were talking about the rim stickers and I said I really didn't like it on the outside and I was like you know what I'll put a sticker on because it's always easier to take stickers off than it is to put them on well that's not the case uh me and Mike are about a full day into this wheel removing the sticker If you want to get a close-up Mike we've been using every plastic tool we can get sharpening we're missing all our fingernails at this point and we're just scraping away probably would have been faster a sandblast season re-powder cut them honestly almost there I think I'm just gonna leave these two stickers on because those would probably take another two hours and just put them on the rest of the wheels tools also let the record know that uh not the biggest fan of the Evo logo but instead of taking two of them off I'm putting two of them on foreign foreign I feel like I need to address the Hat I accidentally wore it in the video that you guys saw last Sean brought it to my attention today making fun of me it's not on purpose it's not a fashion statement we were riding bikes outside of UCF I'd crazy about helmet hair and I want to go buy a hat from Gringos Locos all I had was a visor so I got a visor and I just forgot to change it today you look great dude thanks Guy Fieri Jr gtr's ready to go R32 is ready to go Garza just change the gates in the Chaser went up a couple pounds just so it doesn't fall off up top we can make a little more steam up in third gear uh cams are almost done in the S15 Sean's just buttoning some stuff on the valve cover we're pretty much ready to go for marsh getting in at 1am this flight got delayed it'll be happening on the dyno tomorrow super quick reminder we did ever drop of the lzmfg Viper chairs insanely high quality nice custom yellow stitching branding you name it uh there's about 10 of these left and they're available on the Viper site I will put a link in the description if you guys want to check them out but you will not be disappointed Jimmy's like one of the busiest dudes I know so the fact that he's able to fly down here for a day and tune cars means so much to me I'm uh hopping in the chaser I'm taking that over the airport I figured we might as well make the most of the 45 minute drive back get a couple drivability things dialed in on it and uh turn on the Boost not a lot just a little bit of higher RPM since we were bleeding off with the wastegate just kind of cracking open on its own Jamie's back in the cockpit doing his thing it's been a while since he's been with this thing huh I know memories to Connecticut so it's about to get rolling and do some power pulls and hear this thing sing sounds crazy this thing's about ready to take off spicy I was in the car so you guys aren't gonna hear it until this pass this thing passed 7000 RPM sounds wild words don't do it justice I am so excited about this thing on the street when you guys see the curve after this next pull too I'm gonna try not to say the L word but I might need to say the L word when you guys see the graph so sick so you guys know I've been a new Big Turbo geek this is the G35 1050 and what I'm always aiming for on these cars where I'm limited by tire is this flat torque line since torque is what spins the wheels if I know that I can put down 500 foot-pounds of torque if I can make that torque and hold it the car will never lose traction so for a street car it's ideal and you can see right here we're going all the way past 8000 RPM and it's barely falling off at all which means the higher we push RPM the more the power is going to climb making 670 with only 460 pounds of torque is very promising and I think right now what was that like 22 pounds of boost group so we're looking really good we thought the IET wasn't working because it was showing like 70 degrees Fahrenheit but you put your hand on the charge pipe this intercooler setup is so efficient that it's it's like almost ice cold over here it's kind of wild I guess since we're putting so little boost in it right now that helps too but it's a good sign of a very efficient setup and she just keeps going just for reference too it used to make about 650 foot-pounds torque and put down the power great so 530 is looking really good for traction I think that's it baby that was a spicy one hey honey how'd the map sensor look good power band's sick uh now Jamie's going we're gonna play with the cam timing so what he's gonna do he's gonna turn it on make a sweep turn it off make a sweep and then kind of see where the gains stop and then that kind of gives you the point at which it turns off all right cool so do that throw some wheels on this thing go rip it on the street and then get the SR car on the dyno next not a huge difference relative to the peak but you can see there was some small gains about 10 to 20 wheel in the mid-range just by playing with the VCT and fueling in that area of tires wow that's exciting it's on a completely different there foreign so she's all dialed in on the dyno now we go around drive around the street you guys know the deal by now and kind of figure out all the little other odds and ends and things to dial in on the car usually just different load tip in revving flat shifting all the stuff you can't really do on the dyno I think it's fun oh it's fun so it separates the boys from the men in the tuning World until you gotta look down at a screen as you have the horsepower Back Time may not have the same targets before but it sure does feels every bit as fast that was like the perfect Haze in third and I think this car began we smile craziest sound I've ever heard it's good the transient's wild that's crazy this thing feels like something like I've never driven before and it makes the coolest noises think about the lemon or do you think women are too aggressive yeah that's crazy just like what a difference having a fish and head and a fishing turbo setup laptop makes that like now there's zero transient lag and the car just like it's just there you shifted it was scary I wasn't expecting it to yeah it was good all right this is no flash shift yeah if I click 4 bills firming around like that Jesus Christ bro come on easiest thing because we have that flat torque it like it is just manageable enough so you can like feather it and it has enough resolution but like I wouldn't want to race side by side another car all right so that's 35 pounds we tried 32 pounds to see how that feels we're gonna have to play around with so we don't know exactly but I guess we'll save it they will pull a little bit more out of uh second gear as well I don't know if you have boost my speed set up bro this is the craziest car and it sounds so sick it's so ignorant does that be working am I good yep open I want to flash into but there's no reason to I'm gonna try rolling into third at a lower RPM in CL fields one down and it's a freaking monster so this is part of the secret sauce that was going on you guys didn't see so there's actually a boost table that lets you adjust the Boost by the wheel speed so you can see we're running gate pressure all the way up until about 40 miles an hour which is like kind of first and most of second gear and then it starts to ramp up until you get into fourth around 140 and that just helps not fry the tires off now if I can get more traction I can go and bring that back up but that's just a percentage of the overall duty cycle car feels crazy super happy with the power super happy with the sound that new r-tech manifold sounds sick available on drift HQ I think check the description I don't remember if this one was a prototype might be a prototype I think the real version is coming out soon but anyway um a few little suspension things styling with a car to get it to stop swaying all over the place but now we're going to jump into the SR car that we just put BC 264 cams in to try to get a little bit better Snappy response and then also do a Pump Fuel tune since I'm going to be putting a few hundred miles driving that car on the street uh during drift week Jimmy worked his magic on the good old SR20 uh there's a quick look at the two different graphs both on 93 and on E85 so on the street this thing will be making around 380 on 93 and then about 480 on uh E85 so we're gonna see how it feels on the street we can't compare it to Old graph Apples to Apples um but it appears to be coming in a much stronger and much sooner which is what I'm hoping to get out of it so we're gonna go test it real quick and see how she feels um that's a lot nicer before it was just oh my God I forgot I have a whole new angle kit too this thing just went from like baby angle to like oh my God FDF Mega mantis angle it felt pretty cool I forgot about my fenders hopefully they're good um it feels pretty spicy the new gearing feels sick it's a 3-3 in the rear now it doesn't feel as sluggish as it did before um it's not my cream s13 but it's pretty damn good I'm gonna just try rolling in the straight I was holding on my hat with one hand the whole time hold that for me it's hard to drift my own hands sometimes no no ripping Donuts by my car all right foreign foreign I'm super happy with the resolution uh now up top I don't know if you guys can hear any of the clips but like pop up which is what I was going for which is what my s13 feels like uh if you have cams that aren't the right size what happens is you start operating outside of their efficiency range and you can lose things like transient response um now car feels great pick up some mid-range and feels a lot better the 3-3 gearing thanks Mike let's try to hold on my hat while driving feels a lot better um so I'm stoked this car and the R32 are my two main goals today we got them done now he's gonna take a look at the GTR map and keep rocking on I know a lot of you guys have been asking where rally is uh the other one of the two chihuahuas Riley's been hanging out with Klutz mom Colette took Pete to Long Beach because uh pizza's a little easier to manage he gets less stressed traveling and Colette had to fly out for a shoot so I've been babysitting Pete now I feel bad because I've been spoiling them he's been coming and hanging out in the shop with the boys every day and every time I go back to check in on him or feed him or take him out he just keeps begging me to come so I waited until the last car the R32 GTR which is the quietest to bring him over here and I got him set up with some little dog ear muffs so he can hang out with the boys and he can watch the car get too and I'll let you be I know you're cold he's such a good boy I love hanging out with Pete I miss rally though it sounds cammed but I'm pretty sure it has stock cams the regulars are definitely starting to grow on me after I lower the car thing looks sick well the gate appears to be stuck and the car keeps on wanting to make over 30 pounds which is a little more than we want to run so I don't think the GTR skin tune I'm so thankful Jamie was able to make it down here this car is an animal I want to put both Dyno graphs on the screen right now so you can see the difference before it would just fry the wheels off and then the head was so inefficient since you could only fit like 256 Pawn cams in the hydraulic lifter Series 2 heads I think that's like the biggest Cam that you can get off the shelf for it without going solid lifter it would just roll over so much that it would fry the wheels off and then not really make any power up top now it's got a great power band for traction sound sick revs a little bit higher if you're curious about the parts combination to make this setup happen I will put it in the description two other things that happen while Jimmy was down here that I didn't really film uh the Chaser we did wind up turning up the boost a little bit before it would hit 28 pounds and bleed to like 21 22 just because I had too soft of a wastegate spring once we had the stiffer Springs it holds 28 to Red Line I don't have Boost by speed set up so now it kind of fries the tires off in second gear but in third this thing is like even mind-blowingly faster than before when we were driving it I was like oh my God I actually started lifting because it started frightening to me we also took the R34 to the airport when I dropped him off in the morning and he was able to fix some of the transient response you guys know that I've complained with that car every time you get back on throttle the turbos need to spool back up I thought it was just a characteristic of twins but it actually turned out the car just needed more transient Fuel and because the injectors were shutting off the way that they were when I was lifting off the throttle it just took a little bit too long to light back up to where now if you don't flash shift the car it's much more drivable it's a bummer that this thing had a stuck wastegate if you remember this car has a very old HKS turbo kit and the plan was to just get a solid Dyno on ethanol enjoy this car a little bit before I end up changing the setup I still want to do that we just might end up having to tune a remote because we didn't have time to pull the gate off and get that diagnosed video was a blast I don't want to make four separate Dyna videos so I hope you guys appreciate the condensed version but R32 is an animal I'm excited to get a little more dialed in hopefully get it to go a little bit straighter down the street and just have some fun and enjoy that car in case you don't know that car stopped being drift car a while back it just kind of turned into a fun street car and that's how I enjoy it and that's how it's gonna be driven hope you guys like this video I'll see you soon bye foreignwelcome to today's video guys if you
