a big deal that's a huge deal so to the average person that 2020 imac gotta be honest is probably not a smart purchase but then again i'm not your average person you know what hold on let me rephrase that i am your average person i'm quite boring there's nothing that exciting about me if i gotta be perfectly honest but with that said i'm not your average consumer and that's where my first reason comes from of why i bought the 2020 imac i am a full-time self-employed content creator and as a full-time self-employed working american i need to spend a certain amount of money each and every year to balance out with my income so basically there's a ratio of incomes to expenses in other words i need to spend a certain amount of money so i don't owe more money to taxes and well who wants to owe more money to taxes because well let's face it the less you owe the better right and as far as i'm concerned the average working american actually gets a tax refund every single year i don't i don't i typically owe money which is definitely a good high class problem to have because that means i'm making more money uh but i'm not spending enough and well that's where the 2020 imac comes in i wanted to buy myself something huge to wrap up this year and at first i was going to build a new custom gaming pc for upstairs in my gaming room twitch.tv slash david defranco follow me right below i appreciate it but then i got thinking i'm like david do you really need a new gaming pc probably not i mean at least at least not right now so i think i'm going to build myself a new gaming pc in the spring of 2021 or maybe more realistically this summer i don't know so then it hit me i'm like wait a minute why not buy myself a new mac i'm like i i rarely i very rarely buy myself a new mac well because let's face it they're quite expensive they're definitely not cheap that's for sure and reason number two my 2013 mac pro is great it's a fantastic computer it's extremely capable of pretty much everything i do nowadays but it's just that it's a computer from 2013. guys we're in 2020 now we're in 2020 and i actually got the computer in early 2014 so it's been quite a while and as far as i'm concerned the average computer should be used for what like four to five years again i'm not your average consumer but yeah i i went beyond that four to five years time frame so i wanted something new i wanted something new and i bought myself this the 2020 imac and i honestly do not regret my purchase one bit i've always wanted an imac by the way like i've always wanted a brand new imac i have an imac g4 in storage and i have an imac i think one of the early intel imacs or it's an imac g5 i don't know over the years people just kind of give me free max which obviously i'm grateful for but honestly they kind of end up in storage and at some point i'm going to put them on display actually with that said i probably should put them on display because i recently redid my office and i have some more changes coming uh which should open up even more room for things like the imac g4 and mac mini that i have sitting over there that's not being used and blah blah blah blah blah anyway yeah i wanted an imac so i figured when i get myself an imac i love the simple modern design i just love how elegant it looks it's extremely clean now with that said i will be buying myself most likely within the next like two weeks um an lg 4k display 27 inch which i'm quite excited about because as much as i love this display on the imac trust me it is beautiful it's probably the sharpest display i have in this house honestly it is and it's extremely bright as you can see most of these lights coming from this by the way besides the video light behind the imac um it is always nice to have a secondary display especially what i do i do a lot of design work i do a lot of video editing work and email and stock investing like all the day trading stuff i do i'm not a huge day trader i'm i'm a very very new day trader but yeah it's just it's just nice having a secondary display i mean come on guys upstairs i have one two three four monitors on my pc setup now granted it's a dual pc setup plus my 4k tv above it so in a way i have five displays upstairs to work with and sometimes even that's not enough i'm just obsessed with displays so my fourth reason is apple silicon is a big deal like it's a huge deal it's going to change the mac for at least the next 10 15 20 years to come and who knows that might be the last huge transition to mac ever sees but with that said in my opinion apple silicon is still a ways off for desktops now apple did make it clear this is going to be a two-year transition and honestly it is not a long time i mean this time next year we could have an all-new imac i doubt it honestly i doubt it i don't i don't see us getting a um apple silicon imac until maybe early 2022 if you want my prediction or who knows i could be wrong i mean we could get a new imac this time next year and honestly that wouldn't stop me from buying it i probably would buy it because i would love that all in one design with a much thinner bezel because i will say as beautiful as this imac is the thick bezels are definitely a little bit of a turn off now and then but they're not too distracting but um anyway getting back to my point apple silicon is pretty much proven to be starting with the notebook lineups in other words apple's macbooks so don't expect any desktops powered by apple silicon this year don't expect them i mean if you are expecting them then you're going to be disappointed but if you're expecting apple notebooks with apple silicon then you're going to be quite pleased also i am curious would you guys like me to make a video in the future
