What's Up Guys: Welcome to Another Episode of eBay Flip or Flop
Welcome back to another episode of eBay flip or flop, guys! Today, we're looking at a mid 2012 MacBook Pro 15 inch for parts. Let's dive right into the pictures and see what concerns me about this laptop.
I have a few things that concern me, starting with the bottom case popping off. It could just be that they have the case detached, but it also looks like this and scuffs on this laptop. Oh lordy, yes! There's a bunch of scuffs on this laptop. You know when you're reselling laptops that are working, you pretty much want to have pretty decent condition. And that is a little bit rough. The other side is the same story, that's that's a little rough, oh yeah, yep it continues on the back side.
I really don't like to see this sort of thing. We've got some significant issues with the bottom case. We're in the bottom case, we're missing three of the four rubber feet. Now, I can imagine that's one of the smaller complaints that this computer is sure to generate. But seeing that the computer was treated like this does not inspire confidence as to the interior of this computer.
Now, let's move along and see what else we've got here. There's so much wrong with this picture. You know what we can see that the motherboard works? But right up here your computer was restarted because of a problem. That's not good to hear. We don't really like to see that, especially in a laptop such as this.
It looks like this is a 2.3 base model. A gigabyte of RAM, probably has the base SSD if it even has an SSD. Let's go down and check out the description and find out what we can learn from it. Purchased last year replaced the LCD assembly because the old one was cracked. Okay, so we've got a good LCD. The guy had plans to replace the housing and bottom cover but the logic board started exhibiting signs of GPU chip problems.
There you go! That's our first problem with the computer. It sometimes boots up and when it does everything works great, but after a while discreetly no black and show a bunch of distortion. Okay, kudos, that's probably something that can be fixed by a professional. Although, I'm not sure if basically unless you're Lewis Rossmann, I would stay away from this computer.
It does come with an SSD. That's nice. The charger is there too, and the original box. So, good job on the packaging guys! It has awesome specs but, I've invested too much into it and would rather make some of that money back. $700 is a pretty tall order for a computer with a dead GPU. You know what I mean? I understand that this guy probably invested a lot of money into this laptop.
Hopefully, he got some good use out of it but, 700 is not gonna fly because basically when you have these GPU chip computers, the only time you'd buy one of those is first of all at a lower price. You have to acknowledge that you have a dead logic board and unless you're Lewis Rossmann, as I said, you probably won't be able to get anything out of it.
Now, this computer does have usable parts. The display is said to be very nice and new. The top case is usable but I personally wouldn't use it so that's something to cross off the list. It has an SSD, though, a 256 GB SSD. Maybe that would be $120 dollars or so? This is the older generation SSD. The newer ones are more expensive.
So, here's my final verdict: even if you could repair the logic board of this computer, there is no way it's worth $700. I mean, 700 is what I would pay for one of these in good condition and fully functional. This is a terrible, terrible deal. I feel bad for the guy who invested money into this laptop but he should probably stick with that Toshiba over there because this computer is not worth $700.
This is a flop, guys! So, once again, thank you so much for watching this video. I hope you found it enjoyable and I hope you don't buy this laptop. It's not worth the hassle as usual. Make sure to head on over to my subreddit where I will be collecting suggestions from you guys for listings to take a look at. Send me the wildest listings or the most sensible listings, I'll take a look at them all!
