Welcome Back to Whatcha Eatin Today
I'll be eating a Japanese Kit and it's a series called Horadakita, and it's made by the company Coris. I've done a few others of this series, including a donut one, a little donut candy one, and an apple on a stick one. So, if you want to see more of Horadakita and this one is Ba Soft Candy, I'll put those links down below.
In Japan, any ice cream cone or an ice cream is called "Ice," which is just ice; it's not an ice cream cone or an ice cream. It's called "Ice" in this case, like when you get Haagen-Dazs or something on a stick, it's called a "Ba." So, like this little polar bear has him having an ice bath, the instructions on the bark smell like gummy bears inside. You've got this lovely tray along with four blocks of soft candy - two that are blue and two that are kind of pink color - a series of little bar sticks, Miso Amé, and some powder.
So, you just take your stick and impale your candy onto the stick, so it resembles something that looks like an ice cream stick. It looks more like a mushroom or something to me; the proportions are a little bit wrong. So, I'll do that with all of them. They have heard of Tinnitus, which is like a ringing of the ear, I feel like there's like a ringing; I think okay, it stopped. There's a pink one; so, there are the four candies in nicely and pale. Take your star packet that says Mizuamé, and you pour that into the tray. It doesn't have any color very fine powder just dip it into the mizuwame and then dip it into the Sherbet powder stuff like that.
It smells pretty good; it seems like it's going to be terribly sweet, but let's give it a go here we go, itadakimasu! It's actually pretty good. The flavor of the blue one is very much the Laminae Bubble gum slightly citrus flavor, which at this point, we find very familiar with this blue-colored candy in Japan. It's slightly gritty and chewy just like Haichu or kind of a Starburst kind of thing. Great flavor; what's interesting is there's a bit of kind of a mentholated sensation you know like when you have a menthol cough drop or something, you kind of get that opening of your sinuses in the back of your throat; there's that sensation.
It's really kind of neat; let's give the pink one a try. Being syrup and then give it a dip in this powder; it's really hard to tell because the block itself is pretty dusty and then when you put the powder on it, just looks dusty again. Hmm, it's kind of weird I'm not really used to Japanese candy chews having any kind of gritty texture granulated sugar texture to it that's kind of a bit strange to me, and it tastes like almost more like Strawberry Bubblegum rather than just an artificial strawberry flavor; I think I actually like the almond one better but you get that same kind of taste sensation too.
It's still that kind of mentholated sensation, and maybe that's why it's that's what makes it kind of polar. Let me taste the Miso Amé by itself, see if it tastes like anything; it's sweet and it's slightly flavored kind of a slightly fruity flavor, and then this Sherbet like powder stuff; it's very similar to powdered sugar and the way it dissolves.
I think that's what where the methylated sensation comes from is actually from the powder. So, like I said, I found this in Los Angeles, the last time I was there at one of the Japanese supermarkets; I think it was a couple dollars, and I believe you can order this online if you are interested.
