The Beauty of Japanese Oreos: A Unique Taste Experience
Hello, my beautiful lovelies! Welcome back to another Watcha Eating? So, today I'll be eating some more Oreos which I've eaten plenty of -- if you've missed those episodes, I shall put the link down below. But today's Oreo's are a little bit different, because they are Japanese Oreos.
Nowadays in the U.S, you can always find a bunch of different weird and strange flavored Oreos -- but, back when I was living in Japan, I don't think I remember seeing that many. In fact, I only remember seeing the original flavored one and I would get those on occasion because I was just jonesing for them and missing a little bit of U.S culture. But we just went to H-Mart the other day which is a local Korean, Japanese, Asian market and I found some Japanese flavored Oreos. So, here I am today.
The first one I'm going to try for you is this one and it comes in a cute pink box. And O-reh-o Cho-co-reh-toh pie. So, this is a chocolate pie that is strawberry flavored. And it looks like it might be dipped. Open it here. These are packaged individually. There are 6 servings. And I'm gonna guess that in each package there is just one cookie. Let me open it up. Oh my goodness! It's a giant Oreo! Look at that! I've never seen an Oreo like that before. This is so adorable! Look at that, you have all the details of an Oreo. I would say this is 50% larger than a typical Oreo. It has a very strong strawberry smell to it. And it smells a little boozy as well.
So, let's break and see what's in... Oh my gosh, it's soft! And stretchy. How weird! Although, when you look in cross section, it does look like an Oreo cookie. Adakimasu! Hmm. It's kinda weird. Kinda weird in the sense it doesn't taste bad, it's just a strange Oreo experience. My associations with Oreo cookies are the crunchy chocolate cookie with the cream filling. This, I think, if I were blindfolded, I would never associate with an Oreo. The filling is marshmallow that is flavored with strawberry and tastes a little bit boozy; and the sandwich part of the cookie is really quite soft and more cake-like, rather than crunchy cookie. And I don't imagine dipping this because it has the marshmallow in it so it's not very good.
But despite my initial reservations, I have to admit that the first Japanese Oreo was surprisingly tasty. The combination of flavors may be unusual, but it works surprisingly well together. It's a unique taste experience that will leave you wanting more. So if you're feeling adventurous and want to try something new, give this flavor a shot.
The next flavor I tried was also strawberry flavored, but this one was different from the first. This is again the matcha flavor, but this time it's a soft cookie. I have never had the soft cookie version of an Oreo before, and it looks like it might have a little bit of a filling in the center? I have no idea.
And my guess these are individually wrapped as well. Yes. Come on! Open kindly, please. Eh! Oh my gosh! They're so cute! They look like little mini Whoopie Pies. And it smells like a vending machine chocolate fudge cookie. Smells a bit artificial. Super soft, and the filling looks more creamy, rather than kind of pasty.
But when I opened one up, I was a bit disappointed. The texture is kinda fun... It's definitely more cake-like, but the filling has more of a whipped-cream-like texture, but not a very strong matcha flavor or chocolate flavor for that matter. It's really kinda fluffy and kinda tasteless. Oh, that was disappointing.
The picture does show that it has some kind of creamy filling in the middle. Let's see if I can dissect one and find that filling. I don't know if I can twist this apart -- let me try. Ooh, yes! Look! Ohh... Do you see that? It has a gooey center. What is that about? Wow, it's like a syrup. And the rest of the stuffy is kind of foamy.
It tastes kinda greasy. Just not very good. No. All right, so that was my small Japanese Oreo taste test. Let me know in the comments below if you've ever had any of these flavors or if there's any flavors that I am missing and I shall look for them. Okay, I hope you guys enjoyed that one; I hope you guys learned something; and I shall see you in my next video!
Oh, don't forget to comment, like, and subscribe, and I'll see you in my next one. Too-da-loo! Take care! Hello, I am the hamburger cousin of you.
Interesting.

Let's get one that's not broken. So, there it is. It looks just like a regular Oreoand there is the matcha fillingand there is the beautiful bright green matcha fillingItadakimasu!Mmmm! That's great!I love that!Ah!Mm!That is a great Oreo flavour, the filling has a really strong matcha flavourwhich is kinda grassy, a little bit nutty, and just uniquely green tea/matcha.I love it! I love it! I love it!And the cookie seems to be a little bit different, just slightly so --it seems to have a lighter crunch, but maybe that's just my imagination. It doesn't seem to be as firm --although, the original is still my favourite. But, I have to say, this matcha flavour is a very, very close second.I love the amount of sweetness and the flavour of the matcha is incredibleand a perfect pairing with the chocolatey cookie.Yum!Can't gush about that more --love this!If you like matcha, you have to find this!I have one more flavour for you --and it's this one! This again is the matcha flavour, but this is a soft cookie.I have never had the soft cookie versionof an Oreo before, and it looks like it might have a little bit of a filling in the center?I have no idea. And my guess these are individually wrapped as well.Yes.Arrr.Come on!
