**Mastering Dribbling Techniques with Proper Passing**
The key to mastering dribbling techniques is to maintain possession of the ball while keeping it close to one's body. This can be achieved by using both feet, including the ins and outs, as well as having composure when passing the ball off or knocking it away from opponents. Players should focus on driving at speed, slowing down as they turn, and accelerating into space to create opportunities for successful passes.
To practice this technique effectively, players can use cones set up in a zigzag pattern or in a straight line to simulate game-like situations. The coach can also call out specific directions, such as "left" or "right," to challenge players to pass the ball to their teammates while maintaining possession. This drill helps build trust and communication among team members, ensuring they are working together seamlessly.
**Passing with Both Feet**
To further develop this skill, players should practice passing with both feet. This not only enhances their overall dribbling abilities but also allows them to adapt quickly to different game situations. By using both feet, players can better control the ball and make more precise passes, increasing their chances of success on the field.
In addition to passing with both feet, players should focus on maintaining composure when dealing with pressure from opponents. This involves keeping a level head, staying focused, and making quick decisions to create opportunities for themselves or their teammates. By practicing these techniques, players can develop the skills necessary to excel in game-like situations.
**Game-Like Situations**
To take dribbling drills to the next level, coaches can incorporate game-like scenarios into practice sessions. This can include setting up small-sided games where teams compete against each other, with the objective of scoring goals. Players will need to work together seamlessly to create scoring opportunities and defend against their opponents.
One variation of this drill is to have two teams compete against each other, with each team starting at opposite ends of a line. The players from one team will attempt to sprint towards the ball while driving past defenders to score. The opposing team's goal is to intercept the pass or win the ball back to create scoring opportunities.
**Small-Sided Games**
Another effective way to practice dribbling skills in game-like situations is by using small-sided games. In this format, players are divided into two teams and compete against each other, with a focus on scoring goals. This drill helps build teamwork and communication among players, as they work together to create scoring opportunities.
In addition to the basic version of the drill, coaches can also introduce variations to challenge players in different ways. For example, they can add an extra layer of difficulty by having players dribble around cones or obstacles while maintaining possession of the ball. This will require players to think on their feet and make quick decisions to navigate through tight spaces.
**Conclusion**
Mastering dribbling techniques requires practice, patience, and dedication. By focusing on proper passing, game-like situations, and small-sided games, coaches can help their players develop the skills necessary to excel in game play. Remember, the key is to keep the ball close to your body while maintaining composure and making quick decisions to create opportunities for yourself or your teammates.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwelcome to session sunday hi guys it's jack edwards and this week we're going to be taking a look at improving our dribbling and bore control but before we get into this week's video make sure to leave us a like and subscribe and if you missed last week's video click on the link above okay so moving into the first part of this week's session we're now going to be focusing on our ball control and dribbling in one drill okay so it's going to be unopposed and skill that we're going to be looking at but before we get into it let's have a look how many players we're working with this week and the equipment that we'll be using now in terms of players this week um we're going to be setting up with eight players okay but we can adapt that for more players as well if you've got even number that would be great if it's an odd number we can just adapt it for each part of the session in terms of the equipments we're going to be focusing on using balls bibs cones and then when we have small sided goals okay we're going to if you don't have them use polls and to me to mark out a goal area now in terms of the setup for this part of the session you're gonna look to put your um your groups into pairs okay so we're gonna have four four pairs of two okay and it's literally it's not going to be very um it's not going to be a very big area at all okay so the depth will just be um four yards down okay and then the width will just be eight across so we're going down the middle and then down across because we want it to be short and sharp okay so the players can do a few repetitions now the player on the outside will swap the play in the middle if you had groups of threes okay it can be that you could set up the area the opposite side as well and once they've gone with one player they can then swap and go with the other player and then these two players can just keep swapping over now what we're going to do first the player is going to move out okay and play the ball back with the left foot okay then they're going to come round play the ball back with the right foot now we're going to progress that every single time so it's going to be on the floor to start with okay so it's going to be a pass in set back on the floor the next one will then be it gets played in the air so the player will have the ball in the hands thrown in for them contr for them to play back face time put control on the pass with the inside of the foot playing it back either into the hands or passing it on the floor but controlling it back then the third one will be that we're going to throw it in the player is going to control the ball on the knee and then play while the ball is still in the air so when it's on this side we want them to control on the left knee and play with the left foot so working okay on the coordination that balance making sure that we're controlling it so we're cushioning the ball and then playing it back in now so what will happen each time we'll do a touch on the left come round touch on the right come back then once they get back into the middle the player is going to play the ball in okay and then they're going to dribble so this we're going to focus on our ball control turning okay manipulating the ball as well so they're going to drive okay around the outside and back okay and then around this pole and then they're going to come around inside so out back in as soon as they cross this this cone again they're going to play the ball back so what focusing is attacking that space and then when when we're turning using both feet okay to keep the ball close to the body and ensuring that we contain quickly okay so then when we come back around here again so you could be driving with the right foot here as we turn can we control it with the left to then push back out into the space play back in now if we are the third player over that side as the player turns back around here they could play into this player here and then they could go across to the opposite side and then we'd have two cones here to do the same once they get back they can then do the dribbling there and then they could look to swap over okay but what we'll do for now is the players can wait for let's say a minute or 90 seconds and then they can swap over with the partner once they've done it a couple of times then we move on to the progressions with the different ball controls we will now move into our first animation before moving on to part two of this week's session now moving into part two of this week's session we're now focusing more on our dribbling but keeping the ball close to the body okay and then we're going to be focusing on a little competitive game as well with this one in terms of the setup okay we're going to have 20 yards of depth 20 yards of width okay so the distance between each cone is just going to be 10 yards and then where this ball is in the middle that's going to be 10 yards in either side now you're going to split your group into teams of fours so if you have 12 players perfect you can just have a four teams of three and so on if you do have let's say 11 plays you can just have one team or two and the other teams are three now each team's kind of a star point okay and the coaches either gonna shout right or left okay or they could shout both so you can say right and then left okay or left and right and a progression we could see put a cone ahead of them okay so they've got to dribble back it forward and backwards as well um and we could even do diagonals if we wanted to as well so what we're going to be focusing on it's going to be kind of like a race so as the coach sees an instruction so if they say left the players have got a dribble okay around the cone on their left okay so these players will come here and then they've got to jump around it come back to their team around their cone okay so the players are all coming back here obviously each team will have a ball and then as they come back around their cone okay they then look to pass the ball to try and knock this ball in the middle off a cone okay if a team does it they got a point if no teams hit it that's fine we just go again okay so what the emphasis is at first is okay to re we're trying to race to get there but at the same time we're not going to do it by losing control of the ball so make sure we're dribbling speed we're getting our head up as we look to team we slow down okay so we can turn quickly using both feet as we turn we're making sure that we don't have to turn that body too much okay we're efficient going around there using both feet to drive off into the space come back round okay the cone that we start on and then get the head up and pass the ball okay so making sure that we're keeping up all close to our body we're able to use both feet using the ins and outs of the feet okay and then that composure has to try and knock the ball off there again we can go to the right side as well so it'll be come across come back out so the players are using both feet to pass the ball as well play and try and knock it off again we could put a cone in front which would mean the coach might say hey this could be in this could be a number number one if they wanted to they could do like let's say number one and right so they could be out around background again and then that's when you can pass it or if we wanted to we could shout um like diagonals so the players have got to drive past each other making sure we're not bumping into each other or knocking the ball off as they get to the other team's cone and move around it they look to pass it from there as well so there's different progressions that we can do but the main focus is making sure that we keep that ball close to the body okay we can drive at speed slowing down as we turn accelerating to the space and then getting head up and showing composure to try and knock the ball off the cone we will now move into our next animation before moving on to the final part of this week's session okay now moving to the final part of this week's session we're now moving into a small side of game based scenario okay which is going to be focusing on dribbling okay sprinting with the ball um and then it's again a competition type game between two teams so again you'll just and have you you split into two teams now if you have more players and you can add that extra couple of footies in if you don't have more okay you can just have players resting between um each set okay so then players don't have to go every single time now each team is going to have a set amount of balls along the line here so four four for this team four for that team so the blue is going to attack this red red's attacking this way so they've got to go and get a ball to score so the next player in their team can't go until they've scored or they've missed the target so on the coach's instruction okay the players will go okay so they can go to any line so these players might choose to go to this line these players might choose players might choose to go to this line so the players look to sprint to get the ball okay and then they look to drive into the space as quick as they can okay so then score they can't score until they go past the line okay as soon as they've scored okay these players look to come out playing on the opposite side of the team start point will then look to go to these players drivers here these players drive here driving to the space quickly okay and then look to score so what we're trying to focus is we're getting the ball here so coming to drive inside quickly okay drive inside once we get through here look to score go again if a team misses obviously that puts them a one point down so the team with the most goals at the end wins or the team who finishes first if the all score wins as well now what you can do differently is that you could just remove it so that there's only one ball going at a time and then the coach you could number all the players containing the line here and then shelter number the players race to the ball and then dribble it okay and they're trying to beat the man to then score okay and then the opposite team wins it back they look to beat them and then score and then you can do different scenarios where you have two v two so you could go number one number three okay one and three okay one and three go in get to the ball okay driving then can we find our teammates takes it into space and then scores so you can start off with it being unopposed okay so sprinting to get to the ball and then we can bring that um opposed opposed game more so that the players have got to think about taking a player on so focusing on making sure that we're not slowing down okay we're manipulating um the space as quick as we can not giving the defender a chance to win the ball okay by showing them too much of it or slowing down which makes them be comfortable making sure that we accelerate at space okay make quick decisions to take it away into the space we want to move into our final animation before concluding this week's session thanks for watching this week's video don't forget to head over to our website where you can sign up to view all of our exclusive content and we'll see you next week for another session sundaywelcome to session
