Creative Sound Blaster X7 DAC_Amp & E-MU XM7 Review

**A Comprehensive Review of the X7 Sound Blaster Dac and Amp**

The X7 is an exceptional addition to the Sound Blaster lineup, offering a Texas Instrument 600 home amplifier for driving high-end headphones to their fullest potential. With up to 100 watts of power and Dolby Digital support for delivering emulated 5.1 surround sound, this dac and amp combination delivers unparalleled audio quality.

**The XM7 Bookshelf Speakers: A Game-Changer for Audiophiles**

In conjunction with the X7, I also had the opportunity to test the XM7 bookshelf speakers, which are coated in black to provide a sleek and stylish appearance. The removable front cover reveals a one-inch high-efficiency dome tweeter and a five-inch subwoofer beneath, ensuring a tight and punchy bass response. Connecting these speakers to the X7 was straightforward, with simple alignment of the plus and negative connectors required.

**A Gamer's Paradise: Putting the XM7 Dac and Amp to the Test**

As a gamer, I was eager to put the XM7 dac and amp through its paces. Using my trusty high-end headphones, I dived into a session on Spotify, blasting hip-hop electronic music and rock tracks. The audio quality was simply stunning – sound was crystal clear, with subtle details and ambient sounds that were previously hidden becoming apparent. I even caught the faintest hints of unheard instruments or background noises in songs I'd heard countless times before.

**Gaming with XM7: A Life-Changing Experience**

The real magic happened when I started gaming with the XM7 dac and amp. The sound was so immersive and realistic that it felt almost three-dimensional. I downloaded the Sound Blaster software, which offered a wealth of customization options, including "Sound Panels" where I could tweak EQ settings to my heart's content. The "Scout Mode" feature, in particular, proved to be a revelation – isolating subtle sounds like footsteps and enhancing their volume made even the most competitive gamers' experiences feel more engaging.

**The XM7 Speakers: A New World of Possibilities**

As a headphone aficionado, I was skeptical about the value of bookshelf speakers. However, the XM7 speakers opened my eyes to a whole new world of audio possibilities. With the X7 dac and amp providing a robust foundation, these tiny speakers produced sound that was simply astounding – warm, detailed, and bass-heavy. When paired with the X7, I felt like I'd entered a sonic battle zone, with music taking on an entirely new level of depth and complexity.

**The Verdict: A Great Investment for Audiophiles**

While the XM7 dac and amp may come with a price tag of around $600, it's clear that this is an investment worth considering. The X7's robust features, ease of setup, and incredible audio quality make it an attractive option for those seeking top-end audio experiences. While there are some minor drawbacks – such as the lack of volume knob indicator or preset buttons on the device itself – these are relatively minor quibbles in what is otherwise a phenomenal product.

**In Conclusion**

The X7 Sound Blaster dac and amp, combined with the XM7 bookshelf speakers, represents an unparalleled audio experience for those willing to invest. With its impressive feature set, ease of use, and stunning sound quality, this combo is sure to elevate your music listening and gaming experiences to new heights.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up everybody i'm random frank p today we have a review of the sound blaster x7 dakin amp yes this crazy looking thing paired with the emu xm7 bookshelf speakers now there's gonna be two aspects of this review one being my usage with headphones the other being with these speakers right here but for now let's just take a look around both products the x7 is admittedly very strange looking in terms of its shape it's made of from plastic with a nice matte black finish and some nice gold accents throughout you'll notice the huge volume dial on the front which unfortunately does not have a volume level indicator below the volume button is actually a microphone they're quote crystal voice technology supposed to focus on your vocals clearly you know for a gaming chat or phone calls but i i really didn't test it or even use it because i have a real microphone but it's a nice addition for people who don't have an external mic your power on and bluetooth button and as you can use this with your smartphone through bluetooth and an svx button to enable their pro studio spx immersion sound audio i have your line in for a 3.5 millimeter microphone a 1 4 headphone and a line out 3.5 millimeter headphone jack and by the way yes you can hook this up to your ps4 and xbox one to use for console gaming on the backside they have a ton going on and i could read it at a hall since you can just take a look for yourself but they give you a ton of options to connect in various different ways as well as a button to toggle between four and eight ohms of impedance you'll notice on the right side a little nfc logo so you can use this with your nfc enabled device which is pretty cool you can do things like you know opening a music app or play a certain playlist nfc is really cool i like your addition of this functionality some of the things to note is on the back side you have two little holes in which you can use the included headphone stand it's a nice addition again for someone who doesn't already have one it gets the job done yes it looks nice as the whole completed unit but it definitely isn't sturdy and if you have headphones on the heavier side it's probably going to tip over unfortunately and lastly on the bottom and this is a really really cool feature there's a little cover you can take off to expose the internal op amps i use just a stock ones inside but having this accessible uh gives you a lot of flexibility to tweak your sound by swapping them out buying new ones and just to have a completely different sound signature this personally i think is a huge selling point for audiophiles and it is yet another great addition to the x7 the x7 features a texas instrument 600 home amplifier for driving your high-end headphones to its fullest potential delivering up to 100 watts of power as well as dolby digital support for delivering their emulated 5.1 surround sound now switching over to the xm7 bookshelf speakers pretty typical setup these speakers are coated uh black for a nice black wood grain look which fits in perfectly with my setup and i think they look very stylish underneath the removable front cover you have a one inch high efficiency dome tweeter and a five inch subwoofer beneath for a nice tight base response connecting these to the x7 was simple you just align your you know your plus and negative connectors and you're good to go nothing out of the ordinary on the back and switching back to the x7 and my usage with headphones i always prefer using headphones because you know i have a few pair of great high-end quality cans it just create unparalleled sound for me by the way be on the lookout for my review of an upcoming pair of 800 cans it's gonna be pretty cool but yeah it's used headphones in the past and it's my go to for audio uh this being by far the most expensive high-end dac and amp i have used i was definitely impressed listening to music was a blast i listened to a ton of hip-hop electronic music rock just went through a crazy spotify session and the music was all insanely clear it's really cool picking up unheard instruments or ambient sounds in the background of songs you've never heard before but where i spent the majority of my time using this was with gaming with the headphones on now you have to download their software which gives you a ton of different applications uh just a whole pack of them but there's sound panels where all the sound tinkering and eq settings can be found the software is extremely detailed so you'll want to have this booted up pretty much 24 7 when you're using the x7 now gaming was just awesome everything sound extremely clear and alive i think alive is the key word here one great option in their software for gaming is their scout mode where isolates define sounds like footsteps and enhances the volume of the little things in games now especially if you play competitively i'm not sure if it's even fair to use this because it sounds like everyone is wearing just massive boots i was playing cs go and i heard a guy coming down the corridor before he before he even turned down the hallway was visible to me it's great it's just overall for gaming i think is a great product and now back to my time with the speakers as i mentioned i'm mainly a headphone guy but this was crazy these bookshelf speakers opened my eyes and ears to a completely new experience now i just use headphones pretty much because there's other people living in the house you know but once everyone left i knew i was home alone i blasted these things and it was insane pairing the speakers in the x7 was just unreal made everyone like a battle zone and it gave me a whole new outlook on using speakers for music it cranked them all the way up and again music just felt alive everything was warm detailed uh bass was tight and punchy this is an overall great experience from both products here which is hard to come by i will say though i know i'm supposed to have the speakers on something to absorb the bass frequencies next to my pc since it can wipe out the hard drive but i just had them neatly on my desktop for the sake of this video i did not have them set up like this for my usage and testing so real quick to wrap this up some pros and cons for the x7 it's very robust number of configuration options it's easy to set up and it's great for more complex setup for audio files like to adjust everything very clear sound output with both the headphones and the speakers and tons of functionality and features to go along with it some cons i wish the volume knob had an indicator it's not the easiest thing to fit into the looks of your setup in terms of visual aesthetics and i think it relies too heavily on the sound panel software i would like a few preset buttons at least on the device itself so i didn't have to label the software 24 7. all together this will cost around 600 for everything here so it's definitely a pricey investment but as for someone who knows what they're looking for and wants a top quality audio experience so yeah guys the xm7 sound blaster dac and amp and the emu xm7 uh bookshelf speakers hope you guys enjoyed my little review of both products with my usage of the speakers and with headphones it's an overall it's a great product for anyone looking to have a very high end quality audio experience i'm random frank p guys hope you all enjoyed have a good daywhat's up everybody i'm random frank p today we have a review of the sound blaster x7 dakin
