iOS 18.1 RC Released - What's New

**Issues with Stickers in Mail Application**

One of the notable issues that I've been experiencing is with stickers in the mail application. It seems that when I try to send emails, the stickers just don't show up. This issue has been particularly problematic, as it's not limited to just the mail application but also affects other apps like X. For instance, if I'm using Apple Music, everything displays perfectly fine, but with stickers, there's no sign of them. It's worth noting that this isn't an issue with emojis themselves, but rather with the stickers. This means that even when stickers are introduced in messages or other applications, they don't show up at all.

**Performance on RC Version**

As for performance, I would expect it to be about the same as what we saw with beta 7. The RC version should typically have better performance than previous betas, but since we've had two back-to-back builds for beta 6 and beta 7, I believe that the RC build of 18.1 will be very similar to those previous two betas. In terms of specific scores, I ran a Geekbench test on the RC version to compare it with Beta 7. The results were impressive: a score of 3441 on the single core and an 8516 on the multicore. This is very close to what we saw with beta 7, where I scored 3474 and 8640 respectively.

**Battery Life Expectations**

As for battery life, I would expect it to slightly improve from beta 7. Apple tends to do this in RC or final releases, and if you had good battery life in beta 7, I wouldn't expect it to get any worse. However, if you're looking forward to a slight improvement, that's likely what we'll see.

**Should You Update to the RC Build of iOS 18.1?**

If you're wondering whether you should update to the RC build of iOS 18.1, I think it's pretty safe to do so. The benefits of updating include getting new features like those available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 series models, as well as the new hearing aid feature for AirPods Pro 2 users. Additionally, if you're already running the RC build, you won't need to wait until next week for the final release.

**Release Schedule**

As for what's coming next, Apple typically releases iOS updates on Mondays. According to my calendar, October 28th is when we can expect to see iOS 18.1 released to the public, along with other software updates. There's also a possibility that iOS 18.2 beta 1 could be released as early as the same day or even earlier, but we won't know for sure until it happens. Furthermore, Apple has announced that the new iPad Mini will be released on October 23rd, and I expect to see more details about this device soon.
